Specify the schema prefix in the SELECT query.
SELECT * from OE.CATALOG

    I have given privilages to the user to access my schema objects(tables). Can i cancell the privilages of the user of accessing my schema objects(table) which i granted them ???
    Thank you !!!

    Hi,
    If you gave a privilege or role to a user using GRANT, you can take it away using REVOKE.
    For example:
    REVOKE  SELECT ON my_table FROM user_name;un-does the privilege given by
    GRANT  SELECT ON my_table TO user_name;

  • Access other schema object from connection

    Hi;
    from the dbconnection, how can I access other schema object?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I don't know if I understand correctly but if you mean the scenario you connect to the database as SCOTT and you want to map table EMPLOYEES from HR schema, you can do it within wizard and in read only view object you
    use schema name as prefix like select * from HR.EMPLOYEES. If you mean something else please describe it more.

  • Query in Stored Procedure accessing another schema

    Hi - this is going to sound kind of strange and even i can't come up with an explanation. My JDK 1.1.7 applet uses a type 4 JDBC thin driver (i think v 8.04.06) to access an Oracle 7.3.4 database. We also have a link with full grants and synonymns to another Oracle schema in an Oracle 8 database. Has never been a problem - we can access anything we need to through queries or stored procedures from either of these databases.
    So, i have a new stored procedure that needs to be called through JDBC that queries a table in the Oracle 8 database. For some reason, whenever i execute this stored procedure from java it hangs on this query and the instance needs to be restarted. If i execute that same stored procedure from SQL Plus, it runs fine.
    I tried a little test. I put a straight query in my java code that goes directly to that table (no stored procedure involved). It runs great through java!
    is this weird or what? my dbas have checked out all privelages and it seems that i have access to everything i could possibly need.
    If anyone has any suggestions i would love to hear them.
    thanks for your help...

    You can only access an object in another user's schema if you either:
    (a) Specify the 'other' schema name explicitly: SCHEMA.OBJECT
    (b) A synonymn has been created to access the object: CREATE SYNONYM OBJECT FOR SCHEMA.OBJECT.
    The user requiring the synonym should create it, or the user owning the object can create a PUBLIC synonym, if they have the authority.
    To check my hypothesis, try typing 'DESCRIBE procedure_name' from SQL*Plus as both users.

  • Access to schema objects

    Guys,
    I am on 10g R2 and have this requirement.
    We refresh our QA environment from PROD every day ( exp/imp and schema refresh ). App team now have a requirement where by they want to create few objects including tables every day and load those tables with static data. This in a way doesn't need to be refreshed every day.. So, could place this in another schema. But we do not want to grant access on that schema to the user.
    Alternatively, we can get them to send the us a script, that can be run as POST refresh script on completion of the refresh. But this would mean that any changes to the script will involve us copying the file, which could be a hassle.
    I am wondering, if there is better way to handle this.. BTW, the app team do not have access to the database host and we don't plan to grant it either..
    What is the best alternative ?

    You can use DBMS_METADATA and EXECUTE IMMEDIATE

  • Access another workspace object

    I am working in a workspace "a" as a developer. Another developer is working in his workspace "b". Both workspaces are in one database. I have to access a table (which is in workspace b) from workspace "a". Can it be possible?

    Hi Bill,
    You can't access each others APEX objects but you can both access the same tables. The tables are database/schema specific and are not restricted to use only in APEX. In the application definition you can define the "Parse as Schema". Set that to the same schema that your colleague is working on. If you can not the other schema, you'll need to log into the APEX administration (workspace = INTERNAL) and grant yourself access to that schema.

    Can you let me know is this problem for the components which are in containers only..
    Yes, as Charles said, the problem is for grouping/ungrouping in containers.  If you find otherwise, please let us know.
    <br>
    This problem you will be looking for next iteration, so is it going to be Service Pack or some Hot Fix..
    Is it possible for us to know the issues which will be looked for the next iteration so that we can know what are the issues current version has so that we have the good idea..
    Correct, it will be for Fix Pack 1 (size between a Service Pack and a Hot Fix).
    We don't have a list of issues.  I don't believe it's procedure to disseminate such information.  Usually we give the information on an individual issue basis.  For instance, this issue is slated for FP1.

  • Grant privilage to access diff database objects

    How can we grant access to user1 from db1 to access user2 schema objects in db2 database ? Well, the user1 needs to perfrom insert, update and delete on db2's user2 schema.

    You may create a new schema on DB1 and create all synonyms with appropriate privileges for all the tables which need access.
    Create a database link from DB2 to access this new schema.
    This way you will be protecting other objects from getting modified from DB2.

  • How can i access all the objects of one schema from another schema

    Dear All,
    How can i access all the objects(Tables,Views,Triggers,Procedures,Functions,Packages etc..) and do the modifications of one schema from another schema (Without using synonyms concept).
    Thanks in advance,
    Mahi

    First of all, synonyms only help you easy reference the object. It doesn't have any implication of object privilege.
    As long as you have proper privilege on target object. You can access it with or without synonyms.
    Assuming you have proper privilege of objects, you can use following command to assume schema owner.
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = Schema_owner

  • Granting Read Only Access to user in another schema

    Oracle Database 10g
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.3
    We are requested by a developer to grant his account read only access to TABLES, VIEWS, INDEXES, SEQUENCES, FUNCTIONS, PROCEDURES, PACKAGES, TRIGGERS, JOBS of another schema.
    I know granting read only access to Tables and Views. But is it possible to grant READ ONLY access to other mentioned objects ? How to do it ?
    And some views are in INVALID status.
    I tried to compile them using alter view owner.viewname compile;
    But got this ---- Warning: View altered with compilation errors.
    Those views are still in INVALID status. And then I tried to use utlrp.sql . Same result.
    Then I used the following
    SELECT TEXT FROM DBA_VIEWS WHERE VIEW_NAME='view-name';
    select REFERENCED_NAME,REFERENCED_TYPE from dba_dependencies where name='view-name';
    It turns out some reference types are non existent.
    Does that mean DBAs cannot do anything about this ?

    TABLES -> YES grant SELECT
    VIEWS -> YES grant SELECT
    SEQUENCE -> YES grant SELECT
    INDEXES -> There is no read access for indexes...indexes are put on tables and a user who has read access on tables can read the index as well.
    FUNCTIONS / PROCEDURES / PACKAGES -> I am not sure what you mean by read access on procedures, functions and packages. You may grant EXECUTE privilege on these.
    TRIGGERS -> there is no read access on triggers required. They are implemented on tables for a DML event. If the user has DML access he has the execute access on the trigger as well.
    JOBS -> I am not sure what to read from Jobs.
    And some views are in INVALID status.
    I tried to compile them using alter view owner.viewname compile;

    Does that mean DBAs cannot do anything about this ?There are compilation errors in the Views. e.g. the view may be referring to a table which doesn't exist etc.
    Unless you fix the error in the view you can't compile it and male it valid. Fix the view errors. If objects are non existing create them or refer to view to some where else.
    If the nonexistent objects were mistakenly dropped, or the data file which contained those objects was dropped, no matter what was the reason for that object to be gone a DBA can bring it back if he is a well prepared DBA and has setup his database for such kind of disasters.
    Now tell us why those objects are non-existent ? were they meant to be gone ? or they were dropped mistakenly?
    Now here are my guesses:
    If they were meant to be gone then probably the views definitions need to be adjusted not to refer them anymore.
    If they were mistakenly dropped then:
    Do you have them in recyclebin? (only tables) if YES just FLASHBACK TABLE <<tablename>> AS BEFORE DROP.
    Is your database has Flashback database ON? if YES FLASHBACK DATABASE until 'time/scn just before the object was dropped'
    Do you have backups and your database is running in ARCHIVE LOG mode? if YES perform an incomplete recovery using RMAN.

  • Cant view objects from another schemas

    Hi everybody!
    I have a 10.1.2 Jdeveloper and a 9.2.4 Oracle database.
    I successfully created a database connection.
    With provided login I can access to tables from another schemas in SQL Worksheet, but I cant see any objects from those schemas in the connection tree.
    What's wrong?

    The Schemas are being filtered so that you only automatically see the schema for the connection that you logged on with. To change the schemas that are visible you need to :
    1) Select the connection name in the Navigator (you should see that it has a filter icon overlaid showing that it is being filtered)
    2) Invoke the context menu and select 'Apply filters'
    3) Shuttle over the other Schemas you wish to see and press OK

  • Grant access to all the views created in user schema to another schema

    How to grant access for all the views created in own HAGGIS schema to comqdhb schema on the HAGGIS database.
    Oracle Grant Privileges
    ===============
    Object privileges assign the right to perform a particular operation on a specific object
    I read that we can use select 'grant select on' ||view_name||'HAGGIS' user_views where owner='COMQDHB'
    Is this right
    Oracle System Privileges
    ===============
    System privileges should be used in only cases where security isnt important,because a single grant statement could remove all security from the table
    Role based security
    ============
    Role security allows you to gather related grants into a collection-since the role is a predefined collection of privileges that are grouped together.privileges are easier to assign to users.
    [http://www.dba-oracle.com/art_builder_grant_sec.htm]
    can we grant select update to all the views at a time to the other schema.
    Are there any other ways to secure the data other than creating users and assigning roles.
    Thank you
    Edited by: Trooper on Dec 23, 2008 9:24 AM

    I think what was suggested was that you use SQL to generate the grants on each and every view, that is, you use SQL to generate SQL where the SQL being generated is "grant select on view_name to role'"
    If you users to connect to Oracle you have to create usernames for them though if the users only connect via an application the application might run just as one user and access to the application is controled via application security. The control on the application can be via Directory Services such as OID or MS Active Directory. User access to Oracle can also be controlled via OID.
    To connect to Oracle you can use OS authenication (not recommended), usernames with passwords, or via Advanced Security Option which supports single sign-on products like Kebros or Oracle Internet Directory etc....
    Example using SQL to generate SQL
    How do I find out which users have the rights, or privileges, to access a given object ?

    Use the CREATE SYNONYM statement to create a synonym, which is an alternative name for a table, view, sequence, operator, procedure, stored function, package, materialized view, Java class schema object, user-defined object type, or another synonym. A synonym places a dependency on its target object and becomes invalid if the target object is changed or dropped.
