ACCESS REMOTE AND VIRTUAL CUBES
Hi all,
I installed standard cube:
0FIGL_C10 General Ledger (New): Transaction Figures
and it came with the following ones:
0FIGL_R10 General Ledger (New): Transaction Figures, Remote
0FIGL_V10 General Ledger (New): Financial Statement
0FIGL_V11 General Ledger (New): Financial Statement, Remote
How do i link these remote and virtual cubes to 0FIGL_C10 and how do i populate these cubes to execute query's from them?
Thanks
Hi SAPPER BI,
Check this links:
Sap Help: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/e2/f16940c3c7bf49e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
Best Practices: http://help.sap.com/bp_biv270/BBLibrary/HTML/B70_EN_DE.htm
Only 0FIGL_V10 is connected to that cube, and it uses a function module. You won't see a transformation between them. You should activate them from BCT, then load and information will get populated to your reports on the virtual and remote cubes.
Hope this helps.

Dear Friends,
How a Basic Cube differs from a Transactional and Remote Cube ?
A Small Example- Cube Carries the Transaction data of Customer ,Material, Sales details ( characteristics) and price, Quantity and Revenue (keyfigures) .
When do we Really have to Change or to Create the Other Cubes to hold those Data ?
What is the Exact Purpose that a Scenario Needs the Remote and Transactional Cube ?
I hope Remote Cube Can be created with "Infoservices" and "Source system" . What is the demand for both these options?
Thanks well in advance ,
Rameshhi,
Remotecbue will have only structure and It does't hold any data.
and it is used to bring live data to BW ..At the time of reporting only the data fetches from the source system. So it takes more time to execute.
it will not hav update rules...
Transactional InfoCubes are used only in conjunction with SEM. The data from this kind of InfoCube is accessed transactionally, meaning data is written to the InfoCube (possibly by several users at the same time) and reread as soon as possible. Basic InfoCubes are not suitable for this. You should use Basic InfoCubes for read-only access (for example, when reading reference data).

I would like to have a storage solution that is accessed wirelessly, can be accessed remotely and is viewable in the finder side bar (mavericks)
Is this possible? if so, how? Thanks in advance
IniYou have to pay for online storage, someone has to pay to keep the lights on. As far a getting it on the Finder sidebar, you did something wrong. That is where mine resides, see below.

Hi SDN,
I have doubt is virtual cubes are same as remote cubes in 3.5 .or else is there any differece . Can any one suggest me.
Advance thanks.
PrasadVirtual InfoCubes that do not contain data. They only store data virtually, not physically. The difference between a basic cube and Virtual cube is that, there is no data that is physically stored in the virtual cubes. The data is taken from the source systems only after a query has been executed.
There are three types of virtual cube which can be distinguished by the way in which they retrieve data. SAP Remote Cube,General RemoteCube, Virtual InfoCube with Services are the 3 types of Virtual cubes. Their functions are as follows:
1. SAP RemoteCube: A SAP RemoteCube allows you to define queries with direct access to transaction data in other SAP systems.
2. General RemoteCube:A general Remote Cube allows reporting using data from non-SAP systems. The external system transfers the requested data to the OLAP processor via the BAPI.
3.Virtual InfoCube with Services: For a virtual InfoCube with services, a user-defined function module is used as the data source.

Dear All,
Whats the diff between multi cube and virtual cube. and when can we use Virtual cube. There are 2 types of virtual Cubes:
1. Multi InfoCube (Unions of cubes)
2. Remote InfoCube (some info avliable from BW Service API or non-SAP system)
Multi cube stores data of different business processes at one place, but remember <b>its a union of cubes not join.</b>
Remotes cube when we are fecthing data from some external system other then SAP, may be peoplesoft , legacy system...
Cheers!!!!!!!!!!! -

Real-time Data Acquisition
Real-Time Data Acquisition u2013BI 2004s
Real-time data acquisition supports tactical decision-making. It also supports operational reporting by allowing you to send data to the delta queue or PSA table in real-time.
You might be having complex reports in your BI System, which helps in making decisions on the basis of data of your transactional system. Sometimes (quarter closure, month end, year ending...) single change in the transactional data can change your decision, and its very important to consider each record of transactional data of the company at the same time in BI system as it gets updated in the transactional system.
Using new functionality of Real-time Data Acquisition (RDA) with the Net Weaver BI 2004s system we can now load transactional data into SAP BI system every single minute. If your business is demanding real-time data in SAP BI, you should start exploring RDA.
The source system for RDA could be SAP System or it could be any non-SAP system. SAP is providing most of the Standard Data Sources as real-time enabled.
The other alternative for RDA is Web Services, even though Web Services are referred for non-SAP systems, but for testing purpose here I am implementing Web Service (RFC) in SAP source system.
Eg will be a production line where business wants information regarding defective products in the real time so that production can be stopped before more defective goods are produced.
In the source system, the BI Service API has at least the version Plug-In-Basis 2005.1 or for 4.6C source systems Plug-In 2004.1 SP10.

Real time cube
Definition
Real-time InfoCubes differ from standard InfoCubes in their ability to support parallel write accesses. Standard InfoCubes are technically optimized for read accesses to the detriment of write accesses.
Use
Real-time InfoCubes are used in connection with the entry of planning data. For more information, see:
● BI Integrated Planning: Structure linkInfoProvider
● Structure linkOverview of Planning with BW-BPS
The data is simultaneously written to the InfoCube by multiple users. Standard InfoCubes are not suitable for this. You should use standard InfoCubes for read-only access (for example, when reading reference data).
Structure
Real-time InfoCubes can be filled with data using two different methods: using the transaction for entering planning data, and using BI staging, whereby planning data cannot be loaded simultaneously. You have the option to convert a real-time InfoCube. To do this, in the context menu of your real-time InfoCube in the InfoProvider tree, choose Convert Real-Time InfoCube. By default, Real-Time Cube Can Be Planned, Data Loading Not Permitted is selected. Switch this setting to Real-Time Cube Can Be Loaded With Data; Planning Not Permitted if you want to fill the cube with data using BI staging.
When you enter planning data, the data is written to a data request of the real-time InfoCube. As soon as the number of records in a data request exceeds a threshold value, the request is closed and a rollup is carried out for this request in defined aggregates (asynchronously). You can still rollup and define aggregates, collapse, and so on, as before.
Depending on the database on which they are based, real-time InfoCubes differ from standard InfoCubes in the way they are indexed and partitioned. For an Oracle DBMS, this means, for example, no bitmap indexes for the fact table and no partitioning (initiated by BI) of the fact table according to the package dimension.
Reduced read-only performance is accepted as a drawback of real-time InfoCubes, in favor of the option of parallel (transactional) writing and improved write performance.
Creating a Real-Time InfoCube
When creating a new InfoCube in the Data Warehousing Workbench, select the Real-Time indicator.
Converting a Standard InfoCube into a Real-Time InfoCube
Conversion with Loss of Transaction Data
If the standard InfoCube already contains transaction data that you no longer need (for example, test data from the implementation phase of the system), proceed as follows:
1. In the InfoCube maintenance in the Data Warehousing Workbench, from the main menu, choose InfoCube ® Delete Data Content. The transaction data is deleted and the InfoCube is set to inactive.
2. Continue with the same procedure as with creating a real-time InfoCube.
Conversion with Retention of Transaction Data
If the standard InfoCube already contains transaction data from the production operation that you still need, proceed as follows:
Execute ABAP report SAP_CONVERT_NORMAL_TRANS under the name of the corresponding InfoCube. Schedule this report as a background job for InfoCubes with more than 10,000 data records because the runtime could potentially be long.
Integration
The following typical scenarios arise for the use of real-time InfoCubes in planning:
1st Scenario:
Actual data (read-only access) and planning data (read-only and write access) have to be held in different InfoCubes. Therefore, use a standard InfoCube for actual data and a real-time InfoCube for planning data. Data integration is achieved using a multi-planning area that contains the areas that are assigned to the InfoCubes. Access to the two different InfoCubes is controlled by the Planning area characteristic that is automatically added.
2nd Scenario:
In this scenario, the plan and actual data have to be together in one InfoCube. This is the case, for example, with special rolling forecast variants. You have to use a real-time InfoCube, since both read-only and write accesses take place. You can no longer directly load data that has already arrived in the InfoCube by means of an upload or import source. To be able to load data nevertheless, you have to make a copy of the real-time InfoCube and flag it as a standard InfoCube and not as real-time. Data is loaded as usual and is subsequently updated to the real-time InfoCube.

Difference between General remote cube and virtual infoprovide with service
Hi guys,
I could not understand the difference between general remote cube and virtual infoprovider technically. And I could not find the document about how to set general remote cube.
I only find the following sources.

"In comparison to other VirtualProviders, this VirtualProvider is more generic. It offers more flexibility, but also requires a higher implementation effort.".
I am welcome your lecture. Especially I would like to know how to set general remote cube..

Query performance on remote/virtual cube
All:
We are on BW 3.5.
Can anyone suggest anything about improving query performance on remote/virtual cubes? Analysis shows query performance is sufferring at the database level.
I am looking for some advise beyond hardware and database parameters. It seems current hardware and database parametrs work fine with basis cubes.
Another solution is datamart. But can anything be done before/without going to datamart?
Any help will be appreciated.
ThanksHi,
In this case try to find where more time is utilized by using the ST03.
if there is more time consuming in front end, rearrange the query by using less in the row and using more free chars and filter areas. using the variable also will work.
use reporting agent and schedule the query in background to fill the cache and rerun the query.

Virtual Cube with DTP for direct access
Hello experts, I would like to hear about some tips to improve performance on reporting over this kind of infoprovider. If there were no performance impact in reporting then this cubes would be perfect to face the requirement we are facing. So I would like to get some help on deciding if we can go ahead with this idea or not.
The volume of information is not going to be small in underlying cube staged in APO source system but we can take care on reports using restrictions and small horizons of information. There is no processing in BW side, we would just transfer records from source system to report.
What else besides restrictions in reports can we do to reduce query performance impact? Any work in underlying cube like partitioning, compression or so?.
Any advice from your experience?.
Thanks so much.Hi Martin,
There are 2 BCS documents that might give you some starting point on Virtual cubes, if you have a S-userID for service.sap.com/support, these generally discuss the use of Multiproviders, helped by VirtualProviders so you'll have to skip through some redundnat content.

Virtual cube and multiprovider
Hi Experts
I got a problem in Virtual cube. when adding fields in the multiprovider, i can't see in the virtual cube. i hope you can help me. thanks.Dear Paolo,
I'd like to try help about your question,
There are various type of InfoCube in BW, ones of then are BasicCube and VirtualCube. When you create a MultiProvider, you should see a sreen wiht five tap level, the first is InfoCubes in this list you should choose your VirtualCube (If you don't see it, try to change your selection in the botton Display Option and select "Display all InfoProviders")
I hope this suggestion can help you to answer your question,

I'm trying to set up new 3TB Time Capsule as a wireless network server (with remote access) and for backups for use in a small office (of two Macs). We have a late 2011 Intel MBP and a brand new MBA both running 10.8.3. We have two external 1TB hard drives that until now have been attached the MBP for storage and backing up that computer, which up until now was the only machine in use. The MBA is for a new employee and we need to share and work on the same files, both here in the office and ideally remotely too via Back to my Mac. The MBP needs constant access. The MBA only occasional. The TC has 7.6.3 firmware and we've set it up using AirPort Utility 6.2. It is currently attached to the MBP via ethernet and it has internet access via a Sagemcom router attached to TC's WAN port.
We've managed to set up a wireless network and both have wireless internet access through the TC
But there are so many issues I don't know where to begin - so I'll start with a description of what we're trying to achieve:
I planned to use the TC as the main server drive and place all the key folders and files there so that both of us can access them wirelessly and remotely. The MBP would back up to the TC and to one or two of the external hard drives - one being attached to the Mac via USB and the other being attached to the TC's USB port. We would back up the important data on the TC using SuperDuper and copy it to both external USB drives.
So , first of all, is that a sensible configuration? Should the 'server' be the one of the external hard drives attached to the TC USB port, backed up regularly to the TC using SuperDuper? But when you say 'So using USB drive does make sense if you want to use it as a file store', do you mean a USB drive plugged into the TC? I hope that I can attach an external drive to the TC so we can all access and read/write the content wirelessly via the TC network or remotely.
Yes, USB.. as it prevents the sparsebundle mixing with data files. I guess it does depend on how much data you are talking about.. you can use the TC internal disk if you are careful and setup the sparsebundle with fixed sizes once you create them..
And to be clear, I wasn't planning on backing up remotely via BTMM - only to access the shared folders on the TC data drive or USB external drive attached to it. I'm assuming that's ok?
Yes, that is fine. Sorry I got the impression you were going to do backup over internet.
What is the alternative? Having a Mac Mini that's always on? Do I need OS X Server etc.?
A mini would be great.. you don't need server edition.. but I would see how the TC goes.. since you have it and it is much lower power consumption device. It is just that its design is not really for file storage.
One big problem I have is to do with the sharing permissions. For everything on the TC or attached external drive attached to it, it says I have only custom access and every time I try to change permissions it says I don't have the permission to do that. And if I try to change the owner it says my user name is not valid.
How is the security setup on the TC?
The security is a bit tricky.. I must admit since I run windows computer in the network, that I simply turn on the guest account to read and write access. For a business setup that might not be adequate but it allows me full access to all the files.
If you setup the TC with user accounts then you are in trouble. That makes it very difficult to access, especially if one person already has the file open you may find a second user cannot login. I am not sure as I have avoided the security. IMHO it is meaningless.. since anyone with physical access to the TC can press the reset for one second and has full access.. and can add or change passwords. -
Security issue to access remote ejbs, URGENT!!! please and thanks.
Hi gurus:
I have questions for you. I need to access remote ejbs. the ejb(beans) have been
deployed on remote machine. I have helper class file to do JNDI lookup to point
the machine and find it.
I have local machine to have all of home interfaces, remote interfaces and stub
classes and common classes. I have local jsp and config weblogic-web.xml to allow
test user to access.
Sometimes fine but got the following message and error from my local machine.
I have no clue about that. Is any other issue that remote machine have security
to limit clients to access beans. Because remote wl server startup as system/weblogic.
If my local machine startup as system/weblogic too. It has no problem at all.
This doesn't make sense for my local machine has to have same system's password
as remote machine. Should have some issues to limit clients to access remote beans.
Thank you for any helps and suggestions in advance.
Steven.

VPN Clients cannot access remote site
Hey there,
I am pretty new in configuring Cisco devices and now I need some help.
I have 2 site here:
site A
Cisco 891
external IP: 195.xxx.yyy.zzz
VPN Gateway for Remote users
local IP: VLAN10 10.133.10.0 /23
site B
Cisco 891
external IP: 62.xxx.yyy.zzz
local IP VLAN10 10.133.34.0 /23
Those two sites are linked together with a Site-to-Site VPN. Accessing files or ressources from one site to the other is working fine while connected to the local LAN.
I configured VPN connection with Radius auth. VPN clients can connect to Site A, get an IP adress from VPN Pool (172.16.100.2-100) and can access files and servers on site A. But for some reason they cannot access ressources on site B. I already added the site B network to the ACL and when connecting with VPN it shows secured routes to 10.133.10.0 and 10.133.34.0 in the statistics. Same thing for other VPN Tunnels to ERP system.
What is missing here to make it possible to reach remote sites when connected through VPN? I had a look at the logs but could not find anything important.
Here is the config of site A

endThe crypto ACL for the site to site vpn should also include the vpn client pool, otherwise, traffic from the vpn client does not match the interesting traffic for the site to site vpn.
On Site A:
should include "access-list 107 permit ip 172.16.100.0 0.0.0.255 10.133.34.0 0.0.1.255"
You should also remove the following line as the pool is incorrect:
access-list 107 permit ip 192.168.10.0 0.0.1.255 10.133.34.0 0.0.1.255
On Site B:
should include: permit ip 10.133.34.0 0.0.1.255 172.16.100.0 0.0.0.255"
NAT exemption on site B should also be configured with deny on the above ACL. -
How to load data from a virtual cube with services
Hello all,
we have set up a virtual cube with service and create a BEx report to get the data from an external database. That works fine. The question is now:
Is it some how possible to "load" the data from this virtual cube with service (I know that there are not really data...) into an other InfoCube?
If that is possible, can you please give my some guidance how to set up this scenario.
Thanks in advance
JürgenHi:
I don't have system before me, so try this.
I know it works for Remote Cube.
Right Click on the Cube and Select Generate Export Data Source.
If you can do this successfully, then go to Source Systems tab and select the BW. Here, Right CLick on select Replicate DataSources.
Next, go to InfoSOurces, click on Refresh. Copy the name of Virtual Cube and add 8 as a prefix and search for the infosource.
If you can see it, that means, you can load data from this cube to anywhere you want, just like you do to ODS.
ELSE.
Try and see if you can create an InfoSpoke in Virtual Cube. Tran - RSBO.
Here, you can load to a database table and then, from this table, you can create datasource, etc.
ELSE.
Create query and save it as CSV file and load it anywhere you want. This is more difficult.
Good luck

Virtual Cube with Services - Debugging
I want to debug the function module assigned to a Virtual Cube with services. Using transaction RSRT, I can access the FM using debugger when the query is initially called, by selecting Debug options/Default Breakpoints/VirtualCube. I want to debug subsequent navigation steps on the query. How do I access the debugger for subsequent navigation steps?
Hi Maverick,
You can extract the attributes of the characterstic but u need to configure depending on the function module you are using to read the data from basic infocubes.
I suppose in your FM u are using RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ*(check in your FM to find this) in to get the data from basic infocube. If it is the case then u need to configure interface parameter I_TH_SFC and I_T_RANGE to get the attributes. Hope it helps and if need more let me know the same. If you are using the other function modules you can follow the same logic.
Regards,
Ramana

Hi, I have my report changes in a trasport, which I cannot move to Test system. How can I create a new transport req for the same report and move it to test system. Is there any way I can cancel/delete the old trasport request. Thank you, Veni.
