Access to Abap

Hi
Can somebody give step by step details to do setting/configuration to provide access to Abap part of the system to functional consultants for learning their related abap part. When they try to access,the system ask for access key.

Accessing ABAP temporarily or permanently via editor functions is nothing new to SAP. Infact I have heard and read that the whole concept of developer keys and even object keys is being relaxed (from a standard check perspective) and you need to use the authorization concept of your own implementation in the system landscape to control this access to programs in ABAP packages (object S_DEVELOP typically, and the status of the system components in SE06).
Whether that is a good thing or not I am not sure yet, to be honest. Probably, it is a good thing in the long run.

after 4 years in 2012, i bought a tablet pc (aldi lifetab), installed a firefox-browser, the add-on cert-manager, installed a client certificate. After doing this i can accces webdynpro for abap applications without any problems.

I am looping the internal table....... i even tried using a workarea......it is still not working.....
My table is holding the values( Checked it while de-bugging)......but i think its not taking up the values in the XML code........
I tried out the following.....

But its not working................Is my syntax right......

BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE lock issue with no access to ABAP!

Hello everyone,
I have written a class in vb .NET that uses the BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE to post goods issues. I have done numerous tests myself which all were successful. However, when a colleague wanted to test my class he suddenly got the following error "The plant data of the material <XXXX> is locked by the user <XXXX>". The user specified is the standard background user we use for RFCs. So basically the user is blocking himself.
This issue seems to be quite common as Google turns up with numerous results. They either end up with people being desperate and giving up or finding solutions in ABAP. However, my team has no access to ABAP since SAP-programming has all been outsourced to India. Getting any changes done in ABAP will be a long and tedious progress for which we simply do not have the time.
Is there anyway to resolve this issue on our side? Maybe through other RFCs or changes in how we handle the BAPI? I am quite desperate as this problem occurred shortly before we wanted to go live and now it is not sure we can even do anything on our side.

If you want to call DEQUEUE_ALL from vb.net then tell your ABAP counterpart to create a new remote enabled function module and he can subsequently make a call to DEQUEUE_ALL in the custom developed function module through ABAP. You can then call the newly created custom function module using its calling parameter.
Also, if required he can expose that newly custom created function module as a webservice that you can call from vb.net.
I hope its clear to you now about how can you access it from vb.net.

How to access the abap program from MS Excel or MS access ?
The abap program "z..." has the below input and output attributes
Input : Date,Index and file name with location (.htm or .xls)
Output : htm or xls file downloaded at the above location.
Please help me here.Do we haev to use BAPI and RFC?If yes,please tell me how to use them

Hi,
It looks like a permission issue. You should check the permissions of the folder containing the system in the portal. (System Administration > System Configuration then Open Permissions on the system object). Every user who is supposed to have access to the iView should be there as End User (for instance : Everyone (group), Administrator = none, End User = checked).

Issue regarding access of ABAP related services from portal

Dear All,
We need your input in the following issue:
Scenerio:
we have implemented ess 1.2 on ep7.0
here we have gone for "Enhanced Package 2" for TRAVEL for client requirements so Travel Services are ABAP WEBDYNPRO instead of Standard JAVA WEBDYNPRO and we have 2 transaction iviews on portal.
Now when an end user clicks on travel services, the request is forwaded to ABAP WAS. So, we need to maintain two entries in DNS: 1. Portal url, 2. ABAP WAS
Now the client doesnot want to maintain ABAP WAS entry in their dns. BUT if they do not maintain this than end users are not able to access ABAP related services...
Can you please suggest any possible solution for this issue.

Per SAP Note 1040325, it says "It is not possible if there is another component between the browser and the message server (for example, a portal)." In your case a firewall between the portal and WAS. So a direct connection between the client and the WAS system is required which is a security risk. The section below gives more detail on why this is the case/
The following is a excerpt from the Portal "Network and Communication Security" guide:-
Please note that the requirement for direct access between the client and the backend is well flagged in the documentation. For instance, please refer to the Portal Security Guide, specifically the section "Network and Communication Security" (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/b9/c892f1ffc34156883ddd24aec01253/frameset.htm):
'Neither the portal nor the AS Java provides a proxy function. [...] If you have set up a network architecture with one or more firewalls, and your portal integrates iViews that initiate client-backend communication, you must set up access for the client through the firewalls to the application server in the back end.'
So the only secure solution is to install a webdispatcher in your DMZ and forward the requests from the (5) Portal to the (6) webdispatcher as in the graphic below :-

(1) Client (IE) -> (2) Firewall |.........................|-> (4) Firewall |
.........................................\-> (6) Webdisp -/......................\-> (7) WAS
The original requests bound for the (5) Portal are relayed via the (3) webdisp1 as you can only have one webdisp connecting to one backend SAP system (Portal OR WAS).

EP Internet access & Backend ABAP Webdynpro

Hi, We have a SAP portal that can be access on the internet. All works fine except any ABAP webdynpro on the backend. And the problem is that, from Internet I can not get access to the Backend WAS.
So my question are:
I understand that the iview is processing on client side, therefore the client try to acces the backend WAS URL. ¿Is there a way that the request would be made it by the portal to the backend and not by client browser to the backend?
¿My Backend WAS have to be on DMZ ?

Is Communication user recommended to access Webdynpro ABAP?

I don´t know if somebody knows if we can recomend the client to use a communication user type for accesing Webdynpros for ABAP, can this cause some licence problems? or communication users can be used by final users without a problem?

main difference between dialog and communication user is the access via SAPgui. The license still depends on the role of the user not the user type.

Probably you mean "named user" and "anonymous user". For this Q you always have to ask your SAP sales person (because it depends...)

Unable to access Webdynpro abap application externally

We have created a WebDynpro ABAP application,it is a simple application talking to the ECC.
We are able to run this application on our portal within the network,but when we try to access the application from an external network it says Internet Explorer page cannot be displayed.
We are not using any Web Dispatcher.

You need to talk to your network administrators. Probably your ECC system is within your corportate network and behind a firewall that doesn't allow requests in for these servers/ports. You need to work with your basis team and network team to open the appropriate ports and IP addresses in the firewall. However you should also still provide protection for your ECC system with some forms of reverse proxies as already suggested. This is a security process you should perform with your local admins. This isn't really a Web Dynpro ABAP related process or inquiry.

Now my requirement in to access this application through internet.
I dont want to use portal to run application.
Is it possible to access through internet ?

You can access the webdynpro application via internet with the help of SAP Web Dispatcher. Basis team will install the web dispatcher and then machine can put into a DMZ area which in turn can be opened to Internet with necessary controls.

Via URL like any other web server. I guess I don't understand your question. A portal technically has nothing to do with internet access. If you server is exposed to the internet via the proper network setup then you can the application URLs from the internet just like you could from within your network.

Access form ABAP to external MySQL-Database (read/write)

We have an external MySQL-DB (running on Linux). Now we should read this database from our SAP-System (running on Linux with Oracle-DB) to create a purchase order. After creating this order in our SAP we should update the dataset in the MySQL-DB (creating order was succesfully).
How can we create the Connection to the MySQL-DB?

For example of ADBC, as Kennet said, you can use ADBC_DEMO.
About RFC, I advise you to take a read on the SAP JCo (SAP Java Connector), this is a SAP middleware component that enables the development of SAP-compatible components and applications in Java. From this you can send what you want interfacing to SAP.
As said above in my last post, I would advise creating an RFC instead Native SQL. Not sure how the scenario you have to develop this solution, but I believe will be a more secure.
