Access Violation when using java in windows terminal session

Hi,
we have 2 ms Windows Terminal Servers with Windows 2k3 Enterprise x64 (Intel). I installed Sun JRE version 6 update 5 for windows 64 bit. Everything is working properly when i am using the terminal server as priviledged user (i.e. domain administrator). But as restricted user the browser crashes instantly if I am trying to view a java applet in any browser. Java creates an error log on my desktop which I feel free to post here:
# An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment:

Does anyone have a clue what is the cause of this error? For the first time I thought that there is a problem with the 64 bit environment, but if this would be the case the applets should not be working as administrator too. As non priviledged user the error occures on ANY java applet so I think there must be a general problem.
Regards,
Sebastian

I decided that even if I found the update, another could easily break it. I instead downloaded and installed the Early Access JRE ( 1.6.0_10-ea ) located at https://jdk6.dev.java.net/6uNea.html. It resolved the problem, and all other applications have tested okay with it. I figured I am at risk either way, so I might as well move forward knowing it will become more stable, than step back and create security holes in the OS.

  • App crash when using JAVA callbacks from native threads in solaris

    Hi all,
    Sorry for putting the thread here. I did use the native methods forum, I wasnt lucky. I Hope more people would look into this forum, which brings me here.
    I have a solaris application which crashes when I try to callback the JAVA methods and variables from the native code. The description of the problem is below
    Written a native library, the library is multithreaded (i.e) I create a thread using pthread_create() in the native code which performs the operation of calling a JAVA method from the native code. The routine of calling the JAVA method works perfectly elsewhere outside the new thread.
    There are two scenarios I've tested it in
    1. I created a thread (say X) from the main thread (say Y) and made the y to wait until the X is complete using the pthread_join(). The JAVA callbacks works fine when called from Y but the app crashes if done from X.
    2. Did not make the Y to wait until the X is complete, hoping that both will run paralelly and even the the App crashes.
    And to be precise the Y is the thread where the native method is called from JAVA.
    I have tested for any memory leaks or stack corruption by removing the JAVA callbacks and bulding a executable and using purify, the report doesnot hint any such occurances.
    The linker options used for building the shared library is as follows
    ${GPP} ${INC} -G ${LIB} -mt -g -lCstd -lCrun -lpthread ${OBJS} -o <lib-name>
    I wonder if we can create threads in the native code when using JAVA callbacks and even if we can whether it would be appropiate to use the callbacks with in the threads
    Looking forward for any help.

    Vamsi

  • Fragmented sound when using Java Synthetizator

    Hi,
    What is the reason for sound fragmentation when using
    Java synthetizator in playing midi files:
    ByteArrayInputStream mididata = new ByteArrayInputStream(data);
    AudioStream as = new AudioStream(mididata); //pre fragment? Priority problem?
    mididata.close();
    p.start(as);
    as.close();}
    catch (IOException f){System.out.println("error - " + f.toString());}
    And why there is a "blob" in loadspeakers a few seconds before
    the music starts?

    SYNESTESIA Open Source Java code generates music from any pictures

    Not sure about the fragmentation, but I guess the Blob is because you have crap in your buffer before you start to play. I don't remember what the fix is for it, but I think there is some way of clearing out the buffer.

  • Programatically detecting uniqueness constraint violations when using Direct Path API

    I'm developing an application that bulk loads data into the
    database using the DirectPath API.
    According to the DirectPath API documentation uniqueness
    constraints must be disabled prior to importing data using the
    DirectPath API, then the constraints must be re-enabled.
    If duplicate data is inserted when the constraints are disabled,
    enabling the constraints results in the constraint's underlying
    index being left in an "unusable" state.
    The SQL*Loader tool (which also uses the DirectPath API) somehow
    manages to deal with this.
    It can successfully detect which data causes the constraint
    violation, and politely writes the offending data to a bad rows
    file.
    If SQL*Loader also uses the DirectPath API - how does it detect
    which data causes a constraint violation.
    The mere fact that SQL*Loader can do this in DirectPath mode,
    shows that it is possible.
    Any ideas how to detect which data causes a constraint violation
    when using the DirectPath API ?

  • How to access Websphere variables using java

    Hi
    I want to access Websphere variables using java.
    Any help is appreciated!!
    Thanks
    P

    WebSphere Application Server has a bunch environmental variables such as log locations. These are held at the "server", "node", and "cell" level.
    To access them, you have to get the right context. Something like this, I believe...
    InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
    initialContext.lookup("foo:bar/baz/blah"); //correct context hereGo to the IBM website for WAS and do a search on namespace bindings. That should give you some more information.
    Good luck.

  • Windows 7 Open and Save As dialog box gives an "Access Denied" when using common Windows Explorer features.

    On many computers in our environment we have issues in Windows 7 when using the Common Dialog Box.  Within the dialog box we get the error Access Denied whenever we try to create a folder.  If we try to rename a file it doesn't give an error but
    it doesn't work either.  We cannot delete a file, still no error, but we can create shortcut.
    Within Windows Explorer of the same user it has no issues.
    Even if we run an application as administrator it has the same results.
    Example: Open Paint (right click "Run As Administrator"); then File, "Save As", right-click in empty space; then New, Folder.  This caused the error to popup "Unable to create the folder 'New folder'  Access is denied."
    Thanks for your help,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
    How are things going? As the article provided above said, for such kind of issues generally it is caused by permission settings.
    The article provided several possible solution and please let us know if there is anything unclear about the steps.

  • Window shutdown when using java

    Greetings, since a short time i've having probs when using the java.
    For a time all goes well, but then the IE window just shuts down.
    No warning or whatever....
    Anyone any ideas?
    Tnx in advance

    Possible a bug, probably and more likely something is corrupted. Not much you can do short of trying to reinstall if there are really no errors or dumps present. You should look in your System -> application log file first to see if there are in fact errors you are not seeing.

    Hello Erik,
    not sure about it, but did you see this post some hours after yours?
    DS 4.1 job aborts with Access Violation
    Also, did you check ST22 to see if it generates any dump?
    And if you're able to check the BODS log files, it might me helpful. They're located at %LINK_DIR%\log directory. Check the names with the execution of the job.
    Hope it helps!

  • Security Violation when using -link to sun APIs

    I'm interested in a work around for this irritating (but non-critical) bug:
    When I create application docs that -link to the sun APIs, moving from my Javadoc pages to the sun API pages causes a browser security violation:
    Line: 13
    Error: Access is denied.
    The offending function is:
    function asd()
    parent.document.title="Object (Java 2 Platform SE v1.4.0)";
    You see, from my application, the 'parent' domain isn't java.sun.com.
    Only programmers see this in any significant way (with a debug dialog box popping up.) Others just see 'done with errors on page.'
    Can this get fixed? How? When?
    Thanks,
    F. Randall Farmer
    State Software, Inc.

    This is a known bug:
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4645058.html
    We hope to fix this for 1.4.2, but cannot guarantee it.
    The purpose of this Javascript is when using frames, it puts the
    name of the class in the window title. This enables you to
    not only see the name of the class when the window is open,
    but also see the name of the class when the window is
    minimized and appears on the Windows task bar.
    In the example shown, "Object" is the name of the class.
    The bug might be due to the fact that the <SCRIPT>
    element is neither in the <HEAD> nor in the <BODY>,
    but between them.

  • 10.6 breaks resourceforks when used in a (Windows) network with 10.5.8 (?!)

    Does this only happen to me ?
    a file: filename.txt, which has a resource-fork when copied to a remote windows share (using ntfs filesystem) will not produce a "._filename.txt". However, the resource fork is preserved.
    But, when you access this file using a 10.5.x or earlier client, it does not see the resource fork.
    The other way around, the same problem appears.
    To check this:
    try this using a terminal on 10.6:
    Create the file:
    echo "1234567890" >test.txt
    echo "theresourcefork" >test.txt/rsrc
    check if the resource fork is ok:
    cat test.txt/rsrc
    result: theresourcefork
    copy the file to the remote share ( in my case: windows 2k3 server) using smb protocol
    rename the file to "test1.txt"
    copy back to your Mac on 10.6
    again check if the resource fork is there:
    cat test1.txt/rsrc
    result: theresourcefork
    Now, go to your 10.5.x Machine
    copy test1.txt from the network share to your computer.
    check if the resource fork is there:
    cat test1.txt/rsrc
    result: (empty)
    while it is nice, that 10.6 probably uses ntfs streams to preserve the resource fork ( a much smarter behaviour as before with the "._xyz" files), It completely breaks your data if some of it relies on resource forks and you use 10.6 together with older MacOS versions.
    The best case is that you cannot open your documents any more on 10.5 or 10.6. All other cases are worse.
    Apple should have built in a fallback compatibility or, should have printed a sticker on the CD.
    WARNING: Do not use together with earlier versions of the OS in a Windows network !
    I have this rather strange behaviour on 2 Machines, but have not checked if other installations have the same problem. But, I did not find anyhting here when I search for "resource AND fork".
    Can anyone else try this out if the behaviour is really that destructive ?

    Followup:
    indeed, 10.6 uses ntfs streams when availible to store metadata.
    for a workaround:
    http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/m an5/nsmb.conf.5.html
    create
    /etc/nsmb.conf
    contents:
    \[default\]
    streams=no
    close all server connections, reconnect.

  • Access mirror site using java, download files and other information?

    Hi, I have 2 nodes/servers on the system both running webservers and having the same interface, but at a time user will access one node at a time from their browser, but this interface will be able to allow the user to get information from the both the nodes. the information that the user can get is DB stored as well as files on the disk of either node.
    i can manage the DB, cuz there is nothing to it, but how do I get files from the other node?
    currently any files/web documents are all stored in a application directory of the web root and protected by htaccess i believe, so when a user logs on to node one he can access all plain text/binary files along with web content since the web server authorizes the user to access anything in that dir. but at the same time from the same session I want to be able to access files in a mirror site using the same username and password and not having him to enter it again. the username/pass combo is replicated on both the servers, it this possible?
    currently i use the http password protection provided by apache to access one node, but can i use the same session on another machine with the same credentials?
    If this is not possible how can i do this programatically using java? can i do can "ls" on the directory i want on another server and display the list to the user and then when he clicks on that file name i fetch it from the backup/mirror server and have him save it using http or ftp?
    It would be great if we can get a solution to this.
    Thank you very much in advance.

    If you install the web server on different machines, It is possible to share the informations between them.

  • Custom classloader fails when using Java Web Start

    Hope you can help me with a problem that is driving me nuts. I have implemented my own classloader to support plugins. This classloader works as follows:
    1. The classloader is configured to access a plugin components jar file downloaded by jws.
    2. The plugin components jar file contains other jar files which contains the actual plugin code to be loaded using my own classloader.
    3. Upon initialization - my classloader extracts all jar files contained in the plugin components jar file into temporary files.
    4. These temporary files are used by my classloader when defining plugin classes.
    The classloader works fine when not using java web start. Then I launch the application using java web start with security policy in .jnlp file set to:
    <security>
    <all-permissions/>
    </security>
    After a while (it was able to load some of the classes) it fails with the following stack-trace:

    Does anyone have source code for implementing a simple class loader that can be used with Java Web Start (preferrably with all jar files to be used by the classloader wrapped into a jar file)

    If you implement your own classloader, and then still run with a SecurityManager installed, then your ClossLoader is responsible for asigning the permissions to the code it loads.
    You need your ClassLoader to extend SecureClassLoader, and implement the method :
    SecureClassLoader.getPermissions(CodeSource cs) to return the PermissionCollection you want.
