AccessControlException & Reflection ...
Hi all,
I have an extremely strange error with my Applet. I have a signed Applet that loads a bunch of GUI components using a custom class loader. That all works fine. In fact, the following works and is tested:
- Signed applet tested and works
- Class loader loading classes
- Invocation of methods on objects from the custom class loader
The weird thing is when more than about 2-3 seconds passes and an event handler calls up an invocation on a Method object, I get the following error:
Caught exception:
InvocationTargetException
printing the excepiton's cause (via the getCause() method) reports:
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission localhost:80 connect, resolve)
Like I say, if I quickly keep clicking on things in the Applet it's all good. But if I do not click on a component within about 2-3 seconds, the above error is given. Some sort of time out is taking place but I'm not sure on what. I'm confused since I the Applet is signed and has been accepted.
Any help would be most appreciated.
connection.setReadTimeout(readtimeout);
Method setreadtimeout =
connection.getClass().getMethod("setReadTimeout", new
Class[]{int.class});In my applet, the first line of code above succeeds,
but the second fails with an exception as follows:

in java.net, but not URLConnection. I am using
reflection to allow our java applet to run on pre 1.5
versions of java that do not implement
setReadTimeout.
In my case the URLConnection is an
HttpURLConnection.
This works when I debug under eclipse.
Is there any way around this?Did you properly sign the Applet?

Lot of thanks for your help.Check the weblogic.policy file to make sure that it is giving permissions to the right directories. If you have
installed a Service Pack, make sure that both service pack jar files are at the front of their corresponding
classpaths...

Hi Everybody
I downloaded and installed weblogic as per the installation document

AccessControlException while an applet is executing
Hi to all:
I am developing an applet and I show it in the main JSP page of a service place in Tomcat (Linux).
The applet needs to access to some data in a smartcard and I use another class for this purpose. This class uses javaxsmartcardio and JNA.jar
In the first access from the applet to this class, the JVM shows this error:
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.lang.RuntimePermission accessClassInPackage.sun.reflect.generics.reflectiveObjects)
at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPackageAccess(Unknown Source)
at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2SecurityManager.checkPackageAccess(Unknown Source)
at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
at PinApplet.init(PinApplet.java:47)
at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$AppletExecutionRunnable.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
Excepción: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.lang.RuntimePermission accessClassInPackage.sun.reflect.generics.reflectiveObjects)
Why occurs this error?
I think about the permissions to access to low level (hardware) functions, but the exception is thrown in the line when a method of the class that implemented the access to the smartcard is first called.
I think about the permissions to the .class file, but all the involved files have 777.
Maybe, this message should be in "Java for devices, Card and TV", but I think that the error is in the applet or in something related with the browsers.
Thanks in advance

Aah. So not merely stupid and pointless, but possibly counter-productive and dangerous!
Too bad. To be honest, I had not used tags before, and was wondering if they had any positive aspects (and if so, how). That post has turned me against them. But I will not be joining the badgerbadgerbadger brigade, and will still happily use emoticons. ;) -

I have two more questions for you..
1) Did you validate your JNLP against a DTD or XSD?
2) At time of download, were you prompted to trust the digitally signed code?
I can already guess the answer to (1), but I'd like to hear it from you. The JaNeLA *(<- link)* & [YAX-V|http://pscode.org/xml/xmltools.html#yaxv] *(<- link)* tools on my website are provided to do validation (though JaNeLA does more). -

Hi there:
I'm trying to find out where some slowness is occuring in our application,

However, whenever I try to start the process through a profiler, I get the

Has anyone tried running their WebLogic setup through one of these tools?
If so, have you encountered something like this?

Hi there Hani,
Thanks for you reply. When you say the java invocation parameters, Iassume
you mean
the -Djava.security.manager -Djava.security.policy==weblogic.policylines.
>
I've fed these lines into the OptimizeIt Java arguments, but to no avail?
I'm also making -Djava.security.policy== point to a fully qualifiedlocation
rather than a relative one.

You need to specify the security manager for weblogic. Just copy and
paste
the java invocation parameters from the startWeblogic.sh script. I'vebeen
able to run weblogic with both JProbe and OptimizeIt on Solaris.

Putting images in an applet - java.security.AccessControlException
So I made this Blackjack game using many many classes and a GUI and it worked fine. I then decided to put it online and turned it into an applet. This isn't my first applet that i've put online, so I know that I did all the syntax in the code right. On the other hand, this is the first applet i've put online that includes pictures. The game has a Card class with an ImageIcon variable for the image of the card. The problem is that the applet won't run in a browser, and I receive the follow exception:

I'm willing to share any necessary source code if the need arises.You're trying to read the images off the local hard drive or from a server other than the one the applet came from.
That's normally not allowed.
Use Class.getResource and/or getResourceAsStream, and javax.imageio.ImageIO.read, to read the images. You specify the image paths as relative to the applet (e.g., don't start them with "C:\"). -

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I also get an AccessControlAcception with the following line:
System.getProperty("java.util.prefs.PreferencesFactory");
Thanks!
JasonI figured it out. For some reason, the classes I loaded with my own URLClassLoader didn't have the same permissions as the classes loaded directly through WebStart. What I did was to include my own policy file in a jar with webstart, which granted java.security.AllPermissions to everything, i.e. all code bases. Then in my Main Class, I did:
URL policyUrl = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResource("my.java.policy");
Policy.getPolicy().refresh();
This fixed it. I am guessing that when you give "all-permissions" to your webstart app, it assigns java.security.AllPermissions to code loaded from the webstart codebase, but not to code from other codebases. Changing the Policy widened this permission to everything.
Another alternative would have been to write my own Policy subclass which permitted everything and then call Policy.setPolicy() with it.

AccessControlException when trying WebStart an RCP plugin
Hello!
I have the following scenario: I have an RCP plugin and I would like to be able to run it using WebStart. But unfortunately I get the following exception:

The sad story is that this exception occurs to me (apparently)randomly! That is, sometimes the app starts, while other times it just shows nothing and it only outputs the above-mentioned stacktrace to the log file.
As you can see from the stacktrace, the faulty code is in org.eclipse.osgi.framework.internal.core.FrameworkProperties.setProperty(FrameworkProperties.java:64) which is:
sm.checkPermission(new PropertyPermission(key, "write"));
The class FrameworkProperties is inside org.eclipse.osgi_3.4.2.R34x_v20080826-1230.jar, which I have of course signed and given <all-permissions/> inside the jnlp file.
I have tried to deploy a simple RCP plugin which only displays a simple window. This plugin also packs org.eclipse.osgi_3.4.2.R34x_v20080826-1230.jar, and it works to start it using javaws.
If I give AllPermissions inside $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/security/javaws.policy it works. So I'm suspecting it's a security configuration problem, but I don't know how/where to get further info on the problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Where can I find an example of how to create a URL for a file that is in the same directory with the applet without hard-coding it?This page from the Swing tutorial is relevant:
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/applet.html#images
The linked code used method getParameter to get values from the HTML page, so that they are not hard-coded into the applet. It used getResourceAsStream to read from a URL, but you can also use the Class method getResource to get a URL. -
ANY SY-INDEX REFLECT CHANGES WHEN CONTROL BREAK STATEMENT PROCESS
Dear Guru's,
I have a requirement where i have to move the values to variable when control break (AT END OF) process. So i want to move the values according to the end of Vendor so for that i want to know is there any sy-index available which reflects changes when Control break (AT end of) process.
LIKE Sy-subrc = 0 when select statement fetches record or sy-tabix is like counter for loop.
Hope to get reply soon.
Regards,
Himanshu RangappaHi,
There is no system Fields for it.
But your requirement can be done with 'AT NEW' and 'AT END' statement.
Refer this sample example,
loop at otab.
at new module.
move otab-module to otab2-module.
ENDAT.
at END OF effort.
sum. "Do your calculations here
move otab-count to otab2-count.
append otab2.
endat.
endloop. -
List view web part not reflecting changes made to list view in SharePoint Designer
Dear All,
When adding a list view web part containing a view modified in SharePoint designer (e.g. conditional formatting applied, or group headers modified) I'm finding that the changes made in SPD are not reflected in the web part.
For example, I go into SPD edit a view, and the view appears correctly when I go back into SharePoint, however when I link to the view within a list view web part it results in losing the changes made in SPD.
Becasue it's a publishing page I'm unable to edit the contents of the web part in SPD.
I'm sure this is expected behavior but how do I get around this?
