Accessibility and Java GUI testing

Hi,
Can java accessibility be used for developing java GUI testing tool for applet embedded in IE? If not is there any other way we can test Java Appet GUI?
best regards
Krishna

I do not know of a free tool, but you can use the Robot class in Java to create what you need.

  • MS Access and Java JDBC help!

    Hello, I having trouble with a java GUI.
    I have a MS Access named Database.mdb with a table named Customer which I want my GUI to access.
    I want my GUI to be able to flick through the records using the field I have made for them.
    I already have connected the database using windows xp's "System DSN" and have no problem creating tables using sql statements in my code
    Who can help me? any information would be great.
    Thanks

    I'm doing an inventory software application too...but my application is an automatic software inventory, is automatic your application??
    My result is the software that are intalled in a machine..is your project too?
    Sorry, my english is not very good...

  • Java GUI Testing

    I'm not sure where to post this, so here goes...
    I have a Java Swing application, and I am looking to do GUI testing on it. I'm looking for a piece of free software similar in functionality to QuickTest Professional that will let me record and playback actions I perform on the application. I want the testing application to be able to launch the Java application, perform button clicks, and interact with the application like a human does. So if anyone could reccommend a good free tool that does this, it would be greatly appreciated.

    I do not know of a free tool, but you can use the Robot class in Java to create what you need.

  • SQL Developer and Java GUI problems

    I am having a problem with all the java apps i use, including Oracle SQL Developer. When i load up SQL developer, the top of the "Connections" text is chopped off as well as all the table names in the list when I make a connection. Also the java buttons are rather large. Almost as if they have a carriage return in the text of the button.
    Its seems the gui configuration for java has been corrupted, but i cannot find where to modify those settings. I cant find anything on the internet on this. I have checked my video card settings and modified them to see if that is the issue, but it doesnt fix the problem.
    Since other java apps do the same thing, I know its a java issue, but Ive uninstalled all the JRE's and JDKs i have and reinstalled them, and I still have the problem.
    Im on an Windows XP box and running the JDK and JRE 1.5.0_09 versions. Any help would be appreciated. its very annoying to not be able to read some of the text in the java apps including sql developer due to the tops being cut off.
    I have an ATI RADEON 7000 on an DELL optiplex gx620.
    any help would be appreciated

    The first thing to try, if you haven't already, is to update your video driver.

  • Money for self and Java

    What about Java and sharaware market? OK or incompatible?
    Does someone knows (or has itself) a successfull java shareware application project?
    I mean about million downloads and thousends of customers.

    Thanks nasch.
    As I saw on download.com there are no java-application with more then 70000 downloads (except 2 application for java developers - java-tips and java gui builder). All them have quite low user rating, and I can't imagine that one can pick up good money in a such way. Is it true?
    Only 2 million downloads of JRE - so seems no too much users avalable. What about http://www.javashareware.com/ they never show download index, don't they?

  • Java GUI's & Hardware requirements

    We wish to write Java applications either browser based or Swing based. Our application server is runing on our AS400 thro Websphere. What choices do we have as far as client hardware is concerned ?
    What actually runs on the client in a swing based app ?
    What actually runs on the client in a HTML app ?
    Thanks for your help
    Simon

    The hardware required for the client is going to be very much dependent on the application. A good new (Pentium 4) would certainly chew through most applications without much problem. I've had few problems beyond 500MHz. Memory has been quite important from time to time, though.
    I would recommend Windows for the client; this platform has typically been best supported in terms of browsers and Java GUI functionality.
    However, if you're developing a Java client you shouldn't really need to worry too much about the client machine specification. Do you actually have control over the client machine specification anyway?

  • Develop Java GUI to interact with MS Access

    I am doing a Java course and got this assignment to develop a GUI application using MS Access to get data and to update information for an automated library system. I would realy like some help with integrating the GUI with Access. I started Java a few weeks ago from scratch and would appreciate all the help I could get. I really have fallen in love with Java and I think that it is a really great programming language to use. I really would love to become a Java expert some day.

    Take a look at the Java tutorials page. Theres a tutorial on "Creating a GUI Using JFC/Swing" and "JDBC Database Access":

  • Why signed and get "access denied (java.io.FilePermission hello.txt read)"?

    I am learning the Java tools and policy to create some local browser application for personal use. So I signed a jar file with jarsigner, keytool and policytool and still trying to figure out why my browser application cannot read a simple local text file.
    My question are
    1. Why use java policy tool (policytool.exe)? If I signed a .jar with keytool and jarsigner, do I really need java policytool to write a policy?
    2. What is the maximum validity days? 365? or more? Do I need to sign again when validity expire?
    3. I don't want any of my local browser application gets to internet but only work with local files (read, write, or execute). how do I do that?
    4. how to use java security policy to grant access to the jar applet? where do I place and import the policy file so the hosting web browser and the applet can work?
    My java applet is a simple class that read a text line from a local file in the same folder, and pass the result to a calling web browser Javascript.
    Currently the result in the web page is the error message below, even though the jar is signed correctly.
    access denied (java.io.FilePermission hello.txt read)
    Someone please help and enlight the newbie!

    leoku wrote:
    I am learning the Java tools and policy to create some local browser application for personal use.Why would you wrap a mostly useless and unhelpful browser window around a Java app. for 'local' use?
    .. So I signed a jar file with jarsigner, keytool and policytool and still trying to figure out why my browser application cannot read a simple local text file.
    My question are
    1. Why use java policy tool (policytool.exe)? If I signed a .jar with keytool and jarsigner, do I really need java policytool to write a policy?No. In fact, don't stuff around with policy files - they are a path to madness.
    2. What is the maximum validity days? 365? or more?Keytool accepts an argument for the number of days to remain valid. I do not believe it has an upper limit, but it might be best to experiment with it and find out for yourself. Please report your findings back.
    (2a) Do I need to sign again when validity expire?No, but the end user gets a huge warning that the certificate has expired. Further, if it was a certificate that was certified by a CA, the 'always trust' check box which used to default to true, would now default to false.
    3. I don't want any of my local browser application gets to internet but only work with local files (read, write, or execute). how do I do that?I am not sure I understand, but if you only offer a JFileChooser for the applet to access resources, that should restrict it to resources off the local file-system. Of course, that would not restrict the end user from downloading something from the internet to their local disks, then accessing it using the applet.
    4. how to use java security policy to grant access to the jar applet? where do I place and import the policy file so the hosting web browser and the applet can work?The only place it will work is in the JRE directories of the end-user's machine. Even if you find a way to install your local policy file, do not go messing with the end-user's policy files.
    My java applet is a simple class that read a text line from a local file in the same folder,.. In the 'same folder' as what? (1)
    ..and pass the result to a calling web browser Javascript. That might be the problem. AFAIR, using JS with trusted applets causes the security to be tightened. Perhaps it could be fixed by calling System.setSecurityManager(null) on applet init(), but I have also seen references to using [AccessController.doPrivileged()|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/security/AccessController.html] to wrap the problematic code. I am hazy on the details of how/if that works.
    Currently the result in the web page is the error message below, even though the jar is signed correctly.
    access denied (java.io.FilePermission hello.txt read)
    1) If the answer to my question is what I suspect, there may be better ways to access the resource that are usable even in a sand-boxed app.

  • SAP JAVA GUI 7.00rev5 and IXOS

    After upgrading to Java GUI 7 rev5  from Java GUI 630rev4 our IXOS viewer no longer works when called from within our R/3 system. This is also true when upgrading to any Java Gui 7 revision release.
    The above works using Windows GUI 7.10 with IXOS.
    Has archiving functionality been removed from Java 7?

  • Lighter Java GUI than awt and swing?

    I had recently came across a company website (http://www.bambookit.com) where they developed a java gui library without using awt and swing (seems to what they claim). And on top of that it uses xml to generate the gui components (they call widgets) and the whole library size is only 95kb and supports java 1.1.x and above. Their demos on the applets loads super fast, never know/experience that java applets can actually be this quick. But this confuses me, how is it possible to develop a gui alternative to awt with the basic java classes and no dependency on awt? But since the applets are awt based, it means that they must have some dependencies.
    This is an extract from their website (that it seemed they did not use awt)
    "Java has a fundamental flaw in its paint thread that made it very difficult to build extremely large applications without getting severe performance and resource penalties (This affects both AWT and Swing based applications). Its main repaint queue\thread when assigning paint regions to various controls uses the Graphics objects to clip them. On a Sun Solaris machine this does not cause any problems, however on a windows machine each Graphics object consumes a system resource/handle, (a limit of around 16,000 exists on Win 95 and Win 98 machines). Each Bitmap image, each font object, each icon consumes a single system resource or handle. If a full repaint is performed on an application containing 1000 controls, it would consume at LEAST 1000 system resource handles. If the application was updated many times a second, lets say 10 times a second, then that equates to 10,000 handles a second. This is not taking into account labels within controls, the various fonts styles and sizes created, the various images that get loaded. This could easily exceed 20,000 system resource requests a second. Bambookit on the other hand utilizes the clip routines and passes along a SINGLE Graphics objects to all its various controls. This alone is a HUGE savings in system resources and performance."
    Two questions came to my mind:
    1) Is it possible to build applet gui without using awt and swing in java? If so the only way to do is to use JNI calls?
    2) Am I wrong in interpreting www.bambookit.com's message that they are not using awt?
    Any comments about this?
    Regards,
    Stanly

    They use AWT as basis for their drawing-layer, as any other lightweight toolkits too.
    If you just want a very fast & light alternative to swing/awt have a look at www.lwvcl.com !
    I use it for a large applet-applikation that has to be java-1.1 compatible. It was a horor when using AWT which was implemented different over all JVMs available and very slow (although native widgets were used).
    With lwvcl (which has only 150kB!) I can use state of the art applets that work very fast on modern jvms like 1.4, give me the ability to compile my applikation to native code using GCJ (using the swt-prt of the library) or distribute it to old-school 1.1 browser where it also runs quite fine...
    Its free for GPL and very cheap for commercial use.

  • Q: How to access and modify xml tags using Java

    I have an xml based document that i need to access and change. For example, the code
    <section id="section1">
    <div>
    <xforms:group id="id1">
    <xforms:label id="label1">
    <l style="font-size:16pt"> something </l>
    </xforms:label>
    </xforms:group>
    </div>
    </section>
    Working with Java I need to access all the tags, select some of them that are relevant to the current device and remade the document. I thought I would read the file character by character identifying the different labels and building a tree, storing in the tree nodes the relevant information as some kind of attributes (for example, in the case of the <xforms:group id="id1"> I would name the node "xforms:group" and create an "id" attribute with value "id1"). I'm not sure if that is the most efficient way of accessing the problem (computational power might be an issue), and would appreciate some help on the subject.
    Thanks,

    this may help you..
    this is a little util i made to help me read/write files.
    using this, you are only one step away from your solutions, you only need to figure out the regex you need to run on the text of the file to make it become what you need it to become.
    though if you use non-standard encoding, you might not want to use this code..
    import java.io.BufferedReader;
    import java.io.File;

    How can i access and assign org.w3c.dom.Document variable in javascript block
    I tried this xmlDoc = "<%=xmldoc%>";
    it is not working
    plz give me solution.

    The solution would only work on MS IE browsers, as other browsers do not support an XML DOM.
    It can be done, but you would be stuck with using the Microsoft broswer. If that is acceptable, I have some example code, and a book recommendation.

  • SAP Java Gui in Solaris 10 x86.

    Who run the Java Gui in Solaris 10 x86?
    After I installed Java Gui in Solaris 10 x86 and run guilogon, when I connect the server I created, I got the error message:
    Attempt to load shared library /opt/SAPClients/SAPGui7.00/binlibJPlatin.so failed.
    The library file exists, so either the program
    don't has the privileges to access the library
    or the library is not loadable by the shared object loader
    Technical information:
    Error location: GuiJniLoader.loadPlatinLibrary()
    Error message: /opt/SAPClients/SAPGUI7.00/bin/libJPlation.so:ld.so.1:java:fatal:/opt/SAPClients/SAPGUI7.00/bin/libJPlatin.so:wrong ELF data format:ELFDATA2MSB
    After I confirm the dialog, another error message appears:
    JniAgiLibAdaptor.<init>: Cannot load JNI library.
    I checked the supported OS, it doesn't contains Solaris 10 X86, but I think Solaris 10 was open source, just like linux, why doesn't SAP Java Gui support Solaris 10 X86? And now , how can I solve this problem?

    What you see is what happens when the Java runtime running on Solaris 10 x86 tries to load a library which is compiled for SPARC.
    Because of the native parts in SAP GUI for Java, compilations and installers are required for each OS - HW combination.
    The supported platforms can be seen in SAP note 954572. For Solaris only SPARC is currently supported.
    Because of the effort needed for compiling, testing, support etc. it is required to focus on OS - HW combinations widely used on desktop machines and Solaris 10 on x86 currently does not seem to be one of those.

  • JSP and Java Beans with Database Problem

    hellow, this is my first posting and i hope to help me as fast as you can...
    my problem is simplly i cant get any data from the database (whatever the database it is, i test it with MS Access and MySQL server) when i use a bean, But if i put my connection statement in the JSP file thair is no problem... ???? !!!!
