Accessibility "zoom" - counterintuitive controls
I am looking for a way to reverse the direction of scrolling it takes to initiate the screen zoom with trackpad and modifier key. As it is, scrolling "up" (towards the screen, away from the user) zooms in. Elsewhere (on other OSes I mean), this can be customized, and the default is what I consider to be more natural.
If you read text on some actual sheet of paper, and there is fine print that's too small to read at the standard distance, you pull the paper closer to your eyes. That would naturally translate into using the trackpad to "pull" the screen content closer to you, not pushing it away. As it is, the gesture is pushing it away. The same orientation applies when using a mouse - scrolling towards you should zoom in
It would be great if there could be a control field added in a future version which would allow to reverse this.
My 88-year old Mom uses that feature all the time, and now after switching to a Mac, she has to adapt. For now, I would settle for some command line-level control setting where this could be changed.
BTW, that gesture is labeled "Use scroll gesture with modfier key to zoom" but it does not seem to honor the global setting of the scroll sense. When I uncheck the "natural" scroll direction, it does not revert the direction it takes for the zoom.
Any help or insights would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
I just found a great workaround for the zoom and it works better than before.
The zoom defaults to fullscreen zoom and when you have multiple monitors it zooms all of them. Normally I don't need to zoom all just the one monitor that I'm working on.
Go to "system preferences " ,"accessibility ", set zoom style to "picture in picture" and then click "more options" and then click "adjust size and location" then you can set the zoom window to the size of a monitor. then when you zoom only the monitor you are on gets zoomed and is fast.
Works for me. Hopefully helps others as well.

Accessability/Universal Access - Zoom does not work in Launchpad/Mission control
If using the Accessability 'Zoom' option it works normally in 'normal' desktop Spaces.
On entering either LaunchPad or Mission Control it is not possible to zoom in or, more importantly, zoom back out to full screen.
It is also not possible to move the zoomed area around the full desktop.
These issues make LaunchPad and Mission Control unusable if entered with any amount of Zoom enabled.
The workaround appears to be to leave LaunchPad or Mission Control, Zoom fully out and go back in again.
This is not helpful if you need the zoom mode in order to be able to see your computer screen.
Anyone found a better workaround?Phoned AppleCare tonight - the fix was to nuke the System Preferences preference file and reboot.
The good news - 'Zoom' now works with the keyboard shortcuts.
The bad news - the trackpad 'zoom' gesture from Snow Leopard doesn't work in Lion. -
Want Access Data Grid control in SharePoint 2013?
Hello everyone!
Recently we noticed something funny in SharePoint 2013. While quite many people were hoping to have the datasheet view like those in SP2007 and 2010, Microsoft has chosen a different interface to display datasheet view.
Now, if you try to create a sub site under a publishing site, and use the
Publishing Site template then try to create a datasheet view in the sub site, SharePoint will try to use the Access data grid control to display the view. In some situations the view will display and other situations it will not, and will show this
error:
The list is displayed in Standard view. It cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons: A datasheet component compatible with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation is not installed, your browser does not support ActiveX controls,
a component is not properly configured for 32-bit or 64-bit support, or support for ActiveX controls is disabled.
If you create a sub site using Publishing Site with Workflow instead, then the datasheet view will be created properly using SP2013 interface.
Using PowerShell, we can see that both Publishing Portal and
Publishing Site With Workflow are using the BLANKINTERNET 53 template. The
Publishing Site on the other hand is using the CMSPUBLISHING 39 template.
Want to try it out and let me know if that happens to your SharePoint too?Hi Conway,
I tested the issue in my environment per your description and it returned the results as below:
I created a subsite using Publishing site under a team site in SharePoint server 2013, the datasheet view in a list displayed as pic1
I reproduced the issue in SharePoint server 2010, the datasheet view in a list displayed as pic2
It turns out by design the datasheet view in the subsite based on Publishing site template displays as your situation. Here is an article which explains this:

Not able to access the mx.controls package
hi,
i found a weird issue. I'm developing my application
entirely using actionscript 3 by creating "actionscript Project' in
the flex builder. I need to use the ColorPicker component which is
under mx.controls package, but to my disappointment i'm not able to
access that mx.controls package and when i forcefully use it the
compiler throws me an error, but when i create a new flex project
and create an asctionscript file, i'm able to access that
mx.controls package and also the ColorPicker class. Can anyone tell
me what the problem is?
Thanks,
ShajahanI am having the same issue. I'm using Flex 3 and I cannot
access the mx.controls package in any actionscript project. -
I am planning to buy new PC for my faculty needs and this time I am thinking to buy Apple laptop like Mac book Pro 13" or so ( I owe already IPhone and Ipad 2)
To make final decision I need few information . These are:
1. May I use Boot Camp or similar utility software to install Windows 7 OS next to OS X Lion, or use some kind of virtual box software to create virtual machines with diverse guest OS in them like Windows , Linux etc.?
2. Does OS installed through Boot camp or in virtual machine has access and full control of the peripherals like native OS X Lion?
3. May I use the same disk partitions to access to the files regardless if I am using Windows 7 or OS X Lion operating system?
4. Is there full compatibility between Microsoft Office under OS X Lion and Windows 7 M. Office?
5. What is general user experience with OS X Lion operating system comparing to Windows 7?
Thanks for sharing your experience with me.

1. Yes. You can install Windows 7 natively using Boot Camp Assistant or you can install Windows 7 in a virtual machine using Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox
2. If installed using Boot Camp Assistant Windows 7 uses all your computer's resources just as OSx does. If installed using a VM Windows 7 will share the computer's resources with OSx.
3. A Boot Camp partition is separate from the OSx partition. The VMs allow sharing of files across partitions since both OS are running at the same time.
4. No, not 100%.
5. Too broad a question. Be specific about what feature you are asking about or search the Internet for comparisons. I use both and find they both work well. -
No zoom level controls on second monitor!
I use a second monitor to display a loupe view of the photo I have selected in the grid view, which is on the first monitor. I have always had the zoom-level controls (Fit, Fill, etc.) at the bottom of the loupe display on the second moitor, until I replaced my first monitor this week. Everything else is still the same, but I no longer have the zoom controls on the second monitor. This means that I cannot change the zoom levels that are availabel to me. I either have Fit or 100% zoom. Without the zoom controls on the second monitor I can't change the settings. Does anyone know how to get the zoom controls back (or why they might have disappeared)?
Thanks for any help.Never mind. I found the problem (the second monitor was in full-screen mode). Nothing
to see here. Keep moving. -
Accessibility zoom unusable on multi-monitor setup
The accessibility zoom feature (ctrl-scoll when enabled) that always worked so well and fluidily in previous versions of OSX is now broken in Yosemite.
It works fine on my macbook pro retina's main display when there are no monitor connected, but on my usual dual external monitor setup the frame rate is so slow it makes is useless.

Script error suppression in Access 2010 Webbrowser Control
I like the WebBrowser Control have an application where I use it to do online research and save the results, but on many sites, particularly University Sites, I get script errors. This is very annoying.
How can I suppress script errors in Access 2010 WebBrowser Control. Looked at the property controls and VBA does not contain the VB Suppress...script. I am at a complete loss.
Looked and Looked for solution on internet and no dice.
Help me Obi Wan (A.K.A. Albert Kallal) you're my only hope
tjfThanks for the kind thumbs up!
And with the recent purchase of the star wars franchise by Walt Disney, it's very possible we will see a new Star Wars movie in the not too distant future (or should I say in a galaxy not too far away?). So I'm actually looking forward to the possibility
of another star wars sequel and that would be lots of fun!
As for the script errors? Unfortunately, I don't think there is a solution.
You can check + ensure that the options in Internet explorer (advanced) are set to ensure that script errors and script debugging is disabled. However, THESE SETTINGS DO NOT carry over from Internet explorer into the web control on an access form. And in
fact you might even be using Firefox browser or something else. The web control in Access has a relative high degree of independence from your actual browser setting or even what Browser you're currently using. (and in most cases this is a good thing!).
This is a native control to Access.
If you're receiving the script errors without the user doing anything at all in that browser, I don't think you have much choice here (you can check the scriipt setttings in IE, but to my knowledge they do NOT apply). You have to see if the admin of the
web site can clean up the HTML to eliminate such errors.
Another possbile is to as others here suggest - launch the browser external as hyper link.

I'm a teacher using an AppleTV 3 (latest updates) to project & teach FCP X in a large iMac lab. Using my Macbook Pro (late 2011), I could use any of the Zoom, Zoom Styles. However, since upgrading to Mavericks, I have an issue when projecting my laptop screen to white screen. The problem is when using Accessibility Zoom, Zoom Style: Full Screen, doesn't work at all. Strangely, Zoom Style: Picture in Picture works fine. I've tried other macs running Mountain Lion, both work without issue. Please help. This is killing my effectiveness.

Is the page size of the PDF 8.5 inches wide? What do you have set for the "Acrobat > Preferences > Page Display > Custom Resolution" setting? What is the pixels/inch spec for your display?
I have a 13" MacBook Pro. The display is 1280x800 pixels and about 11-1/4 inch wide.
1280 pixels / 11.25 inch = 113.8 pixels/inch
When calibrated using the method I mentioned above, my custom resolution setting in Acrobat is 114 pixels/inch, which is close enough to the spec of 113 for this display.
Yes its 8.5 wide I printed a test page its formatted 8.5 by 11
Acrobat does a little differently. Word and other applications, for example 100% means to physically see right, & left edge, and top & bottom. you see the entire page without scrolling. an 8.5 by 11 page. If you want to see 8.5 width you set page width which for Portriat page its 292%
My monitor settings 1920 by 1200
DPI system default 131 custom 110
Also on Mac what you see on screen depends upon the Printer used. (Just FYI only) -
Accessing different custom controls during runtime
Hi,
I am developing a test engine. Each test requires different data. My idea is to store all the custom controls(specific control to specific test case). I am getting a variant input and this should be converted to the custom control data type. Is there anyway to access the custom control datatype based on the test case???
Or to be more specific, is there a way to get the data type of control in a VI using VI reference???
Tnx in advanceHi Sam.. I think u got my problem wrong... I ll explain u in asimple way.
Test 1 requires 1 boolean and 1 numeric
Test 2 requires 2 numeric
Test 3 requires 1 string
Wat I recieve is a variant containig all inputs of that particular test(Exmpl: 2 numeric for Test 2)....Now I need to convert this variant to 1 bool and 1 num(for Test 1) or 2 numeric(if Test 2) or 1 string (if test 3). Wat I thought was put all the ctrls in a folder and access it to convert the variant based on test number.(This is for future use so tht I can just add cntrls if new tests are added). Now the question is how to access this cntrl datatype for the conversion??????? -
On iPad3 (Accessibility) Zoom is not centering on gesture
I recently switched from an iPad2 (iOS 5.1.1) to an iPad3 (iOS 5.1.1). THrough my impaired vision I use the three-finger-zoom (Accessibility > Zoom) intensively.
On iPad2 the zoomed area was centered around the area I used the three-finger-gesture.
On iPad3 there is always a certain offset between zoomed in area and where i did the tabbing.
I am not sure If it's because of the retina display but for me personally (it is quite a big issue.)
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Thanks,
BorisHi, I just purchased a new iPad and I'm experiencing the same problem described here too. I visited a store today to test this out on their demonstration iPads and found that all of the iPad 3's I tested had this same issue, but not any of the iPad 2's.
I'm wondering if it might be related to Retina Display, perhaps the guesture coordinates are not being translated correctly to the centre of the screen magnification area. I think is because the zoom now has cover a larger array of pixels (i.e. higher screen resoluton).
This is evident when rotating the screen in each of the four orientations, where the centre of where it zooms is always weighted towards the same physical corner of the device, no matter what way it's rotated, i.e. the bottom left corner of the device (as when in portrait orientation with the home button at the bottom.)
The zoom centre appears to be offset by a factor of 2 from that corner. I.e. the further away you choose to zoom from that corenr, the greater the offset problem.
It's a really annoying bug as I use the same feature on my iPhone without this issue. I rely on zoom heavily because of my poor eyesight, and find it quite disorientating having the zoom centre on a different area to where I chose.
I really hope Apple can find a solution to this quickly. It's probably a really simple adjustment needed to cater for the higher screen resolution, i.e. maybe just multiple the coordinates by 2 to compensate for the difference.
Apple, please fix this ASAP.
Thanks everyone. -
