Accessible Pdf Forms

i have a pdf form whcih   has few fields that i fill from C# using the ItextSharp, the problem is that   the field filled in the pdf form cannot be read by Adobe View Read Out Loud   feature in correct order and the Jaws cannot read the text filled in the pdf form.   But both the readers read the text that was in the pdf form except for the   values in fields.
here is the code i use
PdfReader reader = new   PdfReader(formFile);
      PdfStamper stamper = new PdfStamper(reader,
           new FileStream(newFile, FileMode.Create));
      AcroFields fields = stamper.AcroFields;
           // set form fields
      fields.SetField("Date", "10/10/2009");
     fields.SetField("Time", "11");
     fields.SetField("number", "32");
     fields.SetField("member", "Adams");
     fields.SetField("person", "Seven");
     fields.SetField("Other", "other   info");
    // set   document info
      Hashtable info = new Hashtable();
      info["Title"] = "pdfForm";
      info["Author"] = "Code";
      info["Creator"] = "user";
      stamper.MoreInfo = info;
    //   flatten form fields and close document
     stamper.FormFlattening = true;
      stamper.Close();

  • Creating Accessible PDF Forms for Iphone

    Hi.
    I'm creating a PDF which has multiple check box form fields, these then need to be save by the recipient and emailed back to our marketing department. The only problem is it's null & void on my Iphone (blackberry results pending) — the check boxes simply don't work, no matter how hard I bang away at the screen. Does anyone know how I can enable these to function on the Iphone? Or is it possibly the case that the Iphone doesn't yet support this technology.
    Although the latter I find hard to swallow, if true will get in touch with Apple next week (if this forum proves fruitless) & post results here when they reply.
    Thanks in advance.

    NB: Hyperlinked images and text hyperlinks created with 'link' tool in Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro. also disappear.

    Hi there,
    there are several iPhone apps that claim to be able to complete PDF forms. I have a similar issue, that when  I see a client I need to be able fill in a form with them, so have been looking for some kind of solution. Unfortunately for me, i have yet to find one that integrates with other apps i use on iPhone, but may well be worth a look if thats any help. Search PDF forms in the App Store.

  • Updating a PDF form and keeping it accessible... is there an easier way?

    So I have some InDesign files that were converted to PDF files then brought into Acrobat X where they were turned into accessible forms.
    Now edits need to be made to the content.  I've been trying to figure out what the best approach with the least amount of steps to update these accessible PDF forms.
    So I export the PDF from InDesign, then..
    Option 1:
    Open the newly created PDF and the old version of the accessible form and Copy+paste form fields from old file to new file.
    The good: Tags, Structure, hyperlinks and reading order transfers over from Indesign.
    The bad: Time consuming. Tabbing order for the fields usually needs a lot of manual adjustment. Manually have to add language, title, subject, keywords
    Option 2:
    Open old PDF form and replace the page with the new PDF file.
    The good: Fast! Form tabbing order set. Language, title, subject, keywords all good set.
    The bad: Tags, Structure, hyperlinks and reading order are gone! Manually touchup reading order, add form fields to tags (which sometimes deletes fields and crashes)
    Option 3:
    Open old PDF and use edit document text to fix little issues.
    The good: It works for small issues.
    The bad: Not an option for anything besides a typo. Can't change layout. Have to do the edit again in Indesign, or have out-of-date files.
    Anyone have a better way of doing it?
    BTW I'm using InDesign CS5.5 and Acrobat X on Mac

    You can print it from you My Verizon online account under Documents and Receipts. This option will appear on the left after logging in.

  • Accessible PDF files and forms

    I am beside myself with the lack of help and/or interest in the Accessiblity area. We have been mandated to make all our PDF files accessible on our Web site. We have been able to master many of the issues regarding tags and form fields, but still have questions regarding updating the original PDFs without loosing the tag structure.
    Is there any options on the Adobe site that may concentrate on this area? I called tech support yesterday (Bronze contract), was on hold for 10 mins and got disconnected. After leaving my number, they never called me back again.

    The point was not having to create the tags again in a new file before
    replacing the pages containing the form fields in the old file. We have
    many forms that get updated right up to the last minute and to go through
    the tagging process is too time consuming. We do not use PDF Maker, but
    produce all the PDFs directly out of InDesignCS3 to Adobe Acrobat
    Professional (Distiller).

    I am really suggesting replacing all of the pages. I was thinking that the
    tag structure would go with the replacement and you would need to create
    the other PDF with PDF Maker to keep the tagging. I may be wrong, but that
    was the view I had. If you replace a single page, I am not sure what might
    happen since that would generally not be done with PDF Maker.
    Since you already have the application process going, it is probably
    easiest for you to try the variations on replacing pages and such --
    basically what I would be doing.

  • How to make a pdf (form) accessible for reader in Adobe Acrobat x pro?

    Hi guys, i have bit of a problem here as i am new to the Acrobat pro X
    Using Acrobat pro 9 i always could save a LiveCycle pdf form with permission to fill and save as a reader user. now i have upgraded to cs6 and i have no clue how to do that anymore. The half of the options are gone and i can't access the older Acrobat pro anymore.
    Does anyone know how to save a pdf form using Acrobat X for adobe reader users giving permission to read and save my pdf files?

    For Acrobat X go to File-> Save as->Reader Extended PDF
    This will embed the reader extended rights in PDF.

  • Is it too much to ask that a Mac user can just OPEN and USE a PDF form created by LiveCycle Designer PC software?!?

    My problem is just that- I have created all my forms using LiveCycle Designer because it is easier to make the forms accessible to individuals with disabilities.  Apparently it doesn't make Mac users have access to the forms.  I've received complaints from Mac users that cannot complete or submit the forms that I created.  I'm not asking how to recreate using another software, I know how to do that.  I'm asking is there a work around to allow a Mac user to open a PDF form or even XML (bedded within an HTML page) on a Mac computer WITHOUT having to use bootcamp, parallels, etc. and be able to complete the form and submit, print or email it?????  I've exhausted all my knowledge on this thus far and I'm hoping to find something that will help.  So far all forums talk about how Mac users need to have a PC side to their computer.  Isn't there another way?
    I've attached an example form that we are no longer using (though still created exactly the same as the others)
    Thanks!

    Hi, as far as I can infer, that term means it's not loading any resources until needed, opposite of this...
    -bind_at_load
                     Sets a bit in the mach header of the resulting binary which tells dyld to bind all symbols                when the binary is loaded, rather than lazily.
    https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man1/ld.1.html
    Load resources lazily.
    You should never load a resource file until it is actually needed. Prefetching resource files may seem like a way to save time, but this practice actually slows down your app right away. In addition, if you end up not using the resource, loading it wastes memory for no good purpose.

    And, higher OS versionsare even worse with Bonjour/mDNSResponder, but might see this...

  • Multiple users signing the pdf form

    I have date fields in the pdf form in which the signed date is inserted when each user signs the form. Although the Digital Signature property in pdf provides date property on the signature image. But we have a business requirement to show date field separately on pdf form. Suppose User1 signs the application and the date is inserted in its corresponding date field. But when User2 signs the application and the date is inserted the signatures of User1 gets invalidated.
    Is there any way by which pdf field can be made editable even after one user signs the application?

    PDF supports multiple signatures on a single form or document.  When using a form, you can use field collections to associate specific fields to a certain signature and lock those fields after signing, while leaving other fields accessible.  There are many posts throughout this forum that discusss this functionality, here is one...  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/769340
    As for signature status, applying a second signature (or more) after a form or document has been signed will NOT invalidate the original signature, however it will change the status of the original signature to something like "Valid with signed changes".  Each subsequent signature will change the status of the previous signature, but this is not the same as invalidating a signature.
    This behaviour is by design as a signature applied to a PDF signs the entire byte range of the PDF, not just a portion of it.

    That error message would sure to seem to point that the credentials are not accessible to the user that ADS webservice call is being made by.  That would certainly seem to me to point to a configuration problem at the Basis level.

  • Extend SAP R/3 4.x with Interactive PDF Forms

    Hi there,
    In this blog of Matthias Zeller <a href="http:///people/matthias.zeller2/blog/2004/06/22/the-hidden-secret-of-adobe-reader hidden secret of Adobe Reader</a> there is the following paragraph:
    <i>While mySAP ERP 2004 provides many business scenarios using Interactive Forms out-of-the-box, a lot of customers have asked me how they can use the new Interactive Forms with existing R/3 applications. Therefore, I would like to encourage you to vote for my SAP TechEd presentation proposal ("Extend your SAP R/3 4.x applications with interactive PDF forms"). I plan to discuss how you can connect your existing SAP R/3 applications with SAP Web AS 6.40 to enable interactive form workflows.</i>
    Can somebody tell me if this presentation is somewhere on SDN? Or can somebody tell me where i can find more information about this subject?
    Thx in advance.
    Regards Maarten.

    Hi Maarten,
    Here's a brief run-down on how you could make use of SAP/Adobe Interactive Forms and Workflow:
    1) Remember that a form is really just a UI for collecting data.  A PDF form can be used to collect data online (connected to your SAP system) or offline, e.g. you could send it as a mail attachment, fill it in, and email it to a central point for uploading into the system.
    2) The main requirements for using SAP Interactive Forms are:
    a) A NW04 (6.40) or NW04s (7.00) WebAs (Java Stack) to run Adobe Document Services. This is the critical component that assigns ReaderRights to the document, e.g. so that the user can change the data and save it on the document.   You could run a WebAs like this alongside your R/3 4.7 - e.g. if you have an XI system or Enterprise Portal you could use that system to run Adobe Document Services.  Every form you create must be generated via the Adobe Document Services to get the Reader Rights. Note: Get a NW04s environment if you can - as this release has usefuul new features such as loading attachments to the PDF, using digital signatures, etc.
    b) A WebDynpro application to generate the Adobe form via Adobe Document Services, and to execute the Adobe Form when using online mode, and to upload offline forms.  Tutorials on how to do this are available in SDN - have a look at the Adobe section within WebDynpro. Note: From ECC 5.0 there are some standard WebDynpros apps provided, but in R/3 4.7 you will need to write your own.
    c) There's also a licensing requirement for any production custom forms (SAP provided forms and cosmetic changes to those forms are free) so make sure you get your SAP account manager involved to help sort out how your intended usage will fit in with your current license agreement and any discounts that may apply.
    3) To use the "form" with workflow has some additional requirements:
    a) You need to store the data entered via the form somewhere that is accessible by Workflow.  The easiest approach here is to use the standard form handling technique Internet Service Requests.  Transaction QISRSCENARIO will let you define all of the form fields, give you BADIs for doing validation, raising workflow events, etc.  Also from ECC 5.0 onwards using Adobe forms as the form entry is a standard option for this technique, so this will help reduce the upgrade impact when you eventually do upgrade.
    b) Assuming you use ISRs, have your WebDynpro App call the function module ISR_PROCESS_EVENT to pass the data to R/3 and do the validation checks.
    c) Assuming you use ISRs, you use the BOR object for notification such as BUS2078, as your main object for the workflow.  The form data is attached to the notification and can be retrieved using function module ISR_SPECIAL_DATA_GET.
    d) If you want to call your WebDynpro App from SBWP (I take you don't have Enterprise Portal?) then use transaction WF_EXTSRV to define the web service to call your WebDynpro app and generate a workflow task for it.  Also you must configure transaction WF_HANDCUST to enable R/3 to handle web services.  Note: If you do have the Enterprise Portal, you can use transaction SWFVISU instead.
    I'd strongly recommend you read the ISR cookbook at http://service.sap.com/isr as well.   ISRs aren't the only way to use Adobe forms with R/3 but they are extremely handy if you want to use your Adobe form with Workflow.
    As for Lotus Notes, you can use your WebDynpro app to generate and send/receive a form to/from an email address.  You can also put a hyperlink in your workflow task to call your WebDynpro app and use RSWUWFML2 (swap to Enhanced Notifications when you upgrade) to send out a mail with the hyperlink attached as per usual.
    You'll also find some useful threads on Adobe forms and Workflow in the SDN BPM Forum.  So if you have workflow specific questions try raising them in the BPM forum.
    Enjoy!
    Regards,
    Jocelyn

  • PDF form with one submit button that prints form and sanves PDF with data with a unique file name

    We have a long medical form that patients can fill out at kiosks as they wait to see a doctor. We want one button so that the patient can print out the form with one click (and finish filling it out by hand if it's not finished already) and the same button click will save the form with a unique file name (using last name, first name, date, and/or email address so that the identity of the person who filled out the form will be readily apparent to anyone who wants to grab the user's responses later). Is Acrobat capable of doing something like this? LiveCycle Designer maybe? And if we continue with the PDF form and add a submit button, is there a way to program the button click to print and to save?
    Thank you in advance of any suggestions that might accomplish this task.

    I am not sure about the print, but it can probably be done -- possibly with a bit of JavaScript. As to the saving of the form, that is not reasonable at a kiosk. You would want the data submitted to a server (particularly with patient data), no e-mail or accessible drive. You can collect the data and put it in a database or import it to the form for printing yourself.

  • How to tag a Print PDF form ?

    Hi,
    I need some pointers on how to tag a print PDF form. For one of the requirements, we developed a Print PDF form. The form contains Sub-forms which are made to look like a table. The relevant parameter(i.e., pdf_tagged ) is already set before starting the Job. The special case here is that the table gets the text for the header from the application data and shrinks or grows(upto a max supported column count) according to application data. For the same reason we cannot have a table, header row and body row marked in the accessibility tab in the form development transaction. Also, it is required that a header has to be visible.
    So currently in the form :
    1)We have just a set of sub-forms made to look like a table.
    2)We do not have any table,header or body row identified in the accesibility tab.
    3)Table also grows and shrinks horizontally.
    4)First row of the table is made to look like a Header row(bold text) and gets the data from the application data.
    5)This PDF is then displayed in a popup.
    6)The PDF form is currently not tagged (not accessible).
    Any pointers on how to resolve the issue would be highly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Abhay

  • Acrobat vs Livecyle - which is better for making accessible PDF's

    I am having a very hard time making my PDF accessible. The source program I use to create my document is InDesign 5.5. I convert to PDF and am attempting to tag it using Acrobat X. I tried tagging my form using the articles panel in InDesign but it doesnt convert to PDF properly (which i learned at this forum is a system glitch). Someone at work suggesting using LiveCycle but I am not familiar with LiveCycle at all. I thougt it was an add-on extension to Acrobat so I'm confused why someone would tell me to use LiveCycle instead of Acrobat X. Can someone please clarify for me what the diff is between Acrobat and Livecyle. I need to make my document accessible by the end of the week and having a lot of problems doing it but i want to make sure that Acrobat is the best adobe product to use before going any further.
    Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

    Hi miss forms,
    I'm out of the country just now and "on-line" time is occasional. However, here are some observations for your consideration.
    All this may sound daunting. It is not (honest). Think of it as becoming a competent cook.
    Some study. Some practice then it is Rachael Ray time.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Here's a short take:
    Use InD CS 5.5 to master the underlying "form text".
    Master content with accessible PDF in mind.
    Example - if any "headings" are to be used then use InD built-in paragraph tags.
    Output the tagged PDF.
    Walk the structure tree. Perform requisite post-processing activities.
    Goal is to acquire that well-formed tagged PDF.
    Next, build the form fields.
    Properly fold these into the structure tree.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Observations:
    "... but i want to make sure that Acrobat is the best adobe product to use before going any further."
    Currently and for the foreseeable future - if  you must provide accessible PDF as a deliverable you must have Acrobat Pro.
    You want the most current version and you want to keep it updated.
    Currently there is no such thing as an accessible PDF that does not require post-processing by a knowledgeable "warm-body".
    As the 'warm-body' you perform the essential V&V prior to release of the deliverable.
    While there are tools to help with they still do not replace the 'warm-body'.
    "I need to make my document accessible by the end of the week ..."
    This could be problematic. Unless you are all ready well versed in what a well-formed tagged PDF is and how to stage it in the authoring file I suspect that you won't have a proper deliverable by 30 November.
    Using InD CS 5.5 is 'good' but it is not (as you've discovered) adequately robust for well-formed tagged PDF output compared to the current release.
    The output PDF needs manual remediation (only possible with Acrobat Pro).
    As to any current authoring application used -
    Whatever is used it needs to provide robust "tag management".
    Currently the first string consists of:
    Adobe FrameMaker,
    Adobe InDesign,
    (n.b., Adobe has invested significant resources in improving mastering content for accessible PDF and output of tagged PDF InDesign versions released since CS5.5. So, if InD is your requisite authoring application I'd recommend you move into the current release.)
    MS Word 2010.
    When using MS Word 2010 one can use the MS Save As PDF - XPS configured to provide accessible PDF or use
    PDFMaker.
    For Word 2010 you'd need at least Acrobat X in order to have a compatible PDFMaker.
    Some other applications are also providing for authoring / tagged PDF output (such as Open Office).
    Regardless of the authoring application used Acrobat Pro is still need for requisite post-processing (structure tree V&V, cleanup, etc).
    What form "type" to use?
    I'd recommend Acrobat forms rather than XFA forms.
    Accessible XFA forms are possible.
    But, As George said - a non-trivial learning curve for the basics. Then comes the learning / practice to develop the accessible XFA form.
    If you go with XFA I suggest obtaining the XFA spec that Adobe provides.
    Considering the improvements Adobe has made in Acrobat XI for Acrobat forms I'd recommend you use that.
    However, if you have an older version you can still get there from here (using Acrobat Pro).
    "Tools" considerations:
    Common Look PDF - An enterprise level tool.
    A plug-in for Acrobat.
    Common Look Office Pro
    (Pro supports PDF forms (Acrobat forms - not XFA forms)
    An add-in / plug-in for MS Office 2007/2010.
    Used with Power Point or Word.
    Provides check points on mastered content. You resolve identified issues then use it to output a tagged PDF.
    Perfom requisite post-processing with Acrobat Pro.
    http://www.commonlook.com/CommonLook-office
    MS Word 2010
    Provides content mastering "coaching" for output of accessible PDF.
    PDF Accessibility Checker
    A "validation" tool.
    http://www.access-for-all.ch/en/pdf-lab/pdf-accessibility-checker-pac.html
    AIIM's PDF/UA, Universal Accessiblity
    http://www.aiim.org/Research-and-Publications/Standards/Committees/PDFUA
    The "Achieving WCAG 2.0 with PDF/UA" is available.
    The Implementation Guides are in the oven.
    ISO 14289-1:2012 (ISO standard for PDF/UA)
    Available for purchase at ANSI's web store.
    ISO 32000-1 (ISO standard for PDF)
    Section 14.8 discusses tagged PDF.
    Free, ISO approved copy available from Adobe.
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/pdf/pdfs/PDF32000_200 8.pdf
    I've tried to harvest accessible PDF documentation Adobe's provided since Acrobat 5.
    Have most of it my "eReference Shelves"; but, that's at home.
    What's nice about these documents is that you can harvest activity specific information with confidence that it is an appropriate "reciepe".
    If interested in adding these to your "shelves" let me know.
    Use this forum's PM feature.
    Be well...

  • Save PDF form into non editable PDF through button (SaveAs) using java script

    I am creating PDF form using LiveCycle 8.0.
    1) Using SaveAs the form in PDF (non editable) by using button and javascript
      ( app.execMenuItem("SaveAs");
         myScript.LoclAllFields("form1");) this code is not working.
    2) show / hide the field by choosing the drop down List.
    Like, In drop down list their is tree option name  a, b, c. when select "A" hide the field_A and select "B". then show the field_A.

    Thanks for that script, it is a great way of securing it from being edited, but reader still won't allow the form to be saved, only as a copy without the inputted text. The idea of what I'm trying to achieve is a form which the staff here fill out and then send to our customers with non editable fields, there is the option to print to pdf but that saves the file as an 'image', this stops people from highlighting text which we don't want, they have to be accessible afterwards to copy and paste the text at a later date.
    I hope someone can help with what should be such a simple action.

  • Navigation buttons getting error in Accessible PDF

    In InDesign cs6 I have created 2 internal navigation buttons, one is "Go to destination" and one is "Go to Previous View". After exporting as an interactive pdf (yes, all the correct boxes checked or unchecked) and running a full check, I get these error messages:
    2 element(s) that are not contained within the structure tree. (How to Add Tags)
    Inaccessible digital signature
    Inaccessible form field
    I have been creating accessible pdfs for about a year but have never had to make one with this type of button. I have no idea why this is happening and have searched everywhere for an answer. Can anyone help? Please!

    Sorry for the delay in responding, you've probably solved this by now.  But just in case not, or for others searching for this answer.
    Strangely enough Navigation Buttons are considered "Form Fields" and need to be tagged in the proper reading order the Tag Panel under a Form tag. They also need tool tips which explain their purpose to the user.  The Tab Order also needs to be set in the Forms Task Pane.
    Here is a link that may help.

  • Sequential numbering for pdf form

    I am trying to find out how to have sequential numbering of a pdf form that will be accessible on a shared drive. I need a new number assigned each time it is opened. Please help!

    Hi,
    There is not a way for the person filling out the form to see such a number the instant they fill out the form. If the form e-mails to the respondent with a copy of their responses however, the e-mail includes text indicating which response number their submission has counted up to. (If you also receive e-mail receipts of each submission, you would see the same info.)
    So, for instance, you and the respondent would see, at the top of the e-mail, something like:
    "The form <your form name here> has a new submission.
    Total Responses: 238"
    I hope that helps,
    Brian
