Accessing a oracle DB from web AS in a DMZ zone

Hi all,
I using a webdynpro application where the backend is a oracle system.This system is different from the server.
say the Web AS server is SYS1
and the server which has oracle as SYS2.
I have created a DB in oracle DB of SYS2 and created a SID,user etc.
When i connect to this DB from inside a network there is no problem in connecting.But i have a requirement where the webAS server (SYS1 ) is placed outside the local network we are in  i.e its placed in a DMZ zone. Now when i run the applcation the data from the oracle DB is not accessible..Are there any settings in visual admn which i shud enable.(I have opened the ports 1521 and 1527 also !)
And one more point ..I am not using a datasource. I am using EJB where i am directly using the driver manager class with system ip to connect to the oracle system.
how do i solve the problem
Regards

Hi,
Are you able to ping from SYS1 to SYS2.
If yes then you will be able to access the SYS2 otherwise seek help from network Administrator to do the settings at his end so that you can ping from SYS1 to SYS2. or make that machine internet enbale so that you can access it directly over the internet.

  • Not able to access the Oracle I/PM web client.

    I have started the Administration server and the Oracle I/PM Managed Server. Now I'm trying to access the Oracle I/PM web client at this URL: http://hostname:16000/imaging. But when I hit this URL, the following error comes up:
    Error 404--Not Found
    From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.5 404 Not Found
    The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
    If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
    I'm also posting a part of the logs from the IPM_server log file:

  • JDBC access to Oracle Lite from midlet on j9 pocket pc

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to access an Oracle Lite database from a MIDLet applicatie
    running on a POCKET with the J9 virtual machine? I want to use MIDP and not the Personal Profile to be able to use the Oracle webservice proxy with the J2ME client SDK.
    I think that I only have to include the appropriate libraries (classes12.jar or olite40.jar) in my project..Am I right?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
    Please do not get me wrong , I am sending this reply to get some help from you about your findings .
    I am s/w developer who is involved in application development for PDA devices
    As an option ,
    I have installed oracle9i database in a machine which has win2k server OS and then
    Installed oracle9iLite mobile server sharing the same <ORACLE_HOME> on the machine.
    I am trying to configure and start the mobile server in the “STANDALONE MODE”
    When I typed webtogo on the cmd line , it did not respond , instead it said “Unrecognized option”
    Then when I tried to execute the weg-to-go executable file in the <ORACLE_HOME>\mobile\server\bin directory ,
    It did not respond .
    Can you please help me out to sort out this problem,
    And also give me some more useful hints to configure the mobile server as a module in oracle9iAS.
    Expecting an early response
    Thanks in advance

  • Pass string array to Oracle function from Web page

    Hi. I need to pass a two-dimensional array of string values to an Oracle function from an ASP.NET page. Is there an efficient way to accomplish this? I'm thinking I'll have to create a long string with special delimiters,
    |12345^4.000|67890^3.670|.....
    I'd parse the string on Oracle and break it into its component parts. In this example, each "record" is separated by the bar "|" and each field is separated by the up arrow "^". So each record has two fields.
    Is this a good approach? Your input is much appreciated. Thanks.

    In PL/SQL, it is easy enough to define a record type with two attributes and declare a store procedure that takes in an array of those parameters. I know that from Java it is possible to create and pass in such an array. I would suspect that the same is possible from .Net but I am not a competent .Net developer.

    It is quite evident that it is not able to lookup the JNDI name.
    Can someone throw light on this? If someone has working sample of this, can you mail it to [email protected]?

    Nipun,
    WebLogic and OC4J are not the same thing. That's like saying Oracle and SQL Server are the same thing -- or C++ and Java are the same thing.
    I recall a posting to a forum (don't remember if it was this one), where the poster was complaining that some feature of the application server he had previously used, was not supported by OC4J. Turned out that the feature he was referring to, contradicted the J2EE specification -- which is why it wasn't available in OC4J. In other words, he didn't like the fact that OC4J was more compliant with the J2EE specification than his "other" application server. Go figure!
    So, if you haven't already done so, I suggest you verify that this feature of WebLogic is something that complies with the J2EE specifications -- before expecting OC4J to support the same feature.
    And if it's not clear, from the specifications, then every vendor is free to implement this feature (or not).
    So if it turns out that WebLogic is a more appropriate application server for you -- then why not just stick with it (and forget the others)?
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • How to join data from SAP BW and Oracle database from Webi?

    Hi,
    Need to  create a Web Intelligence Report connecting to multiple data sources.
    Ø SAP-BW contains the data (All units).
    Ø Oracle db contains the access security data (respective units
    for the user).
    Since Universe can only connect to a single data-source we have to create two universes connecting to SAP-BW and Oracle db respectively and then create a webi report to point the two universes to retrieve the equi-join data on the report.
    May I know which layer I can join the data? What kind of data I can join?
    Can I merge dimensions from both the data sources? What about measures?
    How I can create SQL query in Webi in order to simulate the join to the two data source?
    Appreciate any info related.
    thanks and regards
    nora

    Hi Nora,
    You can use Data Federator technology to federate multi-sources such as SAP BW and Oracle.
    Las you just have to create a universe on the Data Federator data source and the universe isee the data source as a single source whereas it is not.
    Then any clainet that consume uninverses can take advantage of this solution.

  • Accessing AM Client Interface from Web Application

    Hi,
    I am trying to access some client interface methods that I developed on my application module from a backing bean on my web application and have trouble doing so.
    Some background on the problem,
    Basically when logging into our application from the front-end, we have to authenticate the user against some custom security code. Part of this code is to validate the user against the Oracle database (i.e. valid oracle db user, and password is valid password to log onto Oracle database). To do this, I developed Client Interface methods on an Application Module. When using the BC Tester in jdev 11g (the latest release), these methods work 100% and validation occurs. On our logon page, I bound these methods to the page definition file. When I then try in the backing bean to call this method, using the code from the ADF 11g Dev guide as below, the DataControl on the action is null at point 3. It does seem to find the action find. I have also tried to actually use the "setParams" method on the action, and then tried the execute(), invoke() + getResult(), and doIt() + getResult() methods, of which none seems to work. All these go past the execute/invoke/do part, but the return value on the execute, as well as the return value from the getResult calls are null.
    public String commandButton_action() {
    // Example using an action binding to get the data control
    public String commandButton_action() {
    // 1. Access the binding container
    DCBindingContainer bc = (DCBindingContainer)getBindings();
    // 2. Find a named action binding
    JUCtrlActionBinding action = (JUCtrlActionBinding)bc.findCtrlBinding("SomeActionBinding");
    // 3. Get the data control from the iterator binding (or method binding)
    DCDataControl dc = action.getDataControl();
    // 4. Access the data control's application module data provider
    ApplicationModule am = (ApplicationModule)dc.getDataProvider();
    // 5. Cast the AM to call methods on the custom client interface
    StoreServiceAM service = (StoreServiceAM)am;
    // 6. Call a method on the client interface
    service.doSomethingInteresting();
    return "SomeNavigationRule";
    Can somebody perhaps tell me what I am doing wrong, or of a better approach to resolve this problem. If any more info is needed, please let me know.
    I did think about binding the action directly to the logon button on the jsf page, but unfortunately there is additional logic/code that is currently in the backing bean that I do not want to move down into the business components, and some code like the lines below that can not be moved.
    HttpSession session = (HttpSession)externalContext.getSession(true);
    session.setAttribute(SecurityFilter.SESSION_ATTR_USER, securityDto.getUsername());
    session.setAttribute(SecurityFilter.SESSION_ATTR_SECRET, securityDto.getPassword());
    session.setAttribute(SecurityFilter.SESSION_ATTR_ROLES, securityDto.getRoles());
    return "logonSuccess";
    Will really appreciate any help.
    Tx
    Drikus

    Hi,
    I managed to find some sort of work around.
    I actually dragged and dropped the Client Interface for the custom method from the datacontrol onto my jsf page and created an additional button. I then ran the application and everything worked. Afterwards I went back to my jsf page and removed the newly added button again and removed the newly added methods from my page definition file as well. When I run the application now, the exact same code that I used previously, now seems to work. I changed it to use the findDataControl method as Frank suggested, and that also works now.
    What i can not figure out though, is what exactly the the dropping of that dataControl method and removing it again changed on my application to make it work now. Can somebody please try this and see if they can find the answer. I have done a small little sample application where I can replicate the problem exactly which I can provide the steps to if needed.

  • How to access solaris management console from web browser??

    Hi,
    I am running Sol9 with the latest patches. The console gui freezes every time I try to admin NIS users in my NIS toolbox. It used to work but now it doesn't. I need to access this thing from a web browser if that's possible since there is no console that I can install on my windows laptop that can connect to the server.
    Can this be done?? I can't find any info on docs.sun.com on what URL and port to use.
    I did find something that says there is a /usr/sadm/bin/smcwebserver but it does not exist on any of my machines.
    Help?? Please???
    Thanks,
    Tom

    On my machine, when I point my browser to http://<hostname>:898 (the management server port) I get a nice message telling me that a web version of the Solaris Management Console is not currently available. Running the console tells me I'm running v2.1 which is what came out of the box.
    I think the webserver component you refer to only ships with v3.0 and later. You can go to http://wwws.sun.com/software/solaris/sunmanagementcenter/index.html and download a base version for free to check it out.
    By the way, I don't use a remote console to manage remote servers. It's too clunky. My solution for running the SMC remotely is to start an XServer on my laptop, telnet to the Sun host, su - root, set DISPLAY=<mylaptop>:0 and then run smc directly from the host. As long as there's no firewall blocking port 6000 between you and your host, you should be OK. This should be straightforward if you've run any graphical X apps before.
    However, I don't administer NIS and my laptop is a Mac. Your mileage may vary considerably.

    The most common reason for this failure is if your web.xml does not refer to the latest web application
    .xsd :
    <web-app version="2.5" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsi="http
    ://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/x
    ml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_2_5.xsd">
    Otherwise, the web application is considered to be a J2EE 1.4 application and annotations
    are not processed. If that's not the case you can also run the application through the
    verifier to see if it identifies any issues.

  • Accessing non-oracle databases from oracle

    Is there any way to access from oracle to non-oracle databases and copy the data using COPY command?

    Hi Nitin!
    You can access these legacy applications as so-called external applications. Check out the Application Server Single Sign On guide.

  • Calling Oracle Reports from WEB Pages(JSP)

    We are using Weblogic as the web server, Oracle 8i as the database and JSP(Java Server Pages) as the scripting language.
    We need reports to be invoked and displayed to the browser. Is it possible to invoke Oracle Reports 6i reports from JSP WEB pages and display the output to the browser? How can we do this and what are the additional s/w requirements, if any?
    null

    yes it is possible. There is a cgi script called viewreport.cgi. Have the jsp page call it (GET or POST method) and place the user parameters inside the form.

  • How can I access the Oracle CEP from the a simple java code

    I want to access the current values in coherence cache and show those in a screen. So for that I want to create a java class which can access the Coherence cache of the CEP application and get the current values in the Cache.
    Do anyone had any sample code for this, or any idea how to do this.

    As mentioned, you can use Spring to pass a reference to your cache to an event bean as shown below.
    Once you have a reference to the cache you can use whatever Coherence APIs you need.
    For example: get an object based on the key, perform an invoke, or a query to get the values that you want to display.
    Here's some sample code:
    IN EPN
    <wlevs:caching-system id="CoherenceCachingSystem" provider="coherence" />
    <wlevs:cache id="TransactionCache" caching-system="CoherenceCachingSystem"
              value-type="TransactionAmount" key-class="com.oracle.poc.event.TransactionAmountKey">
    </wlevs:cache>
    <wlevs:event-bean id="TransactionCacheQuery" class="com.oracle.cep.eventbeans.TransactionCacheQuery">
         <wlevs:listener ref="P1TotalChannel" />
         <wlevs:instance-property name="transactionCache" ref="TransactionCache" />
    </wlevs:event-bean>
    EVENT BEAN:
    import com.tangosol.net.NamedCache;
    import com.tangosol.util.aggregator.DoubleSum;
    import com.tangosol.util.filter.EqualsFilter;
    public class TransactionCacheQuery implements StreamSource, StreamSink {
         private StreamSender streamSender_;
         @SuppressWarnings("unchecked")
         private Map transactionCache;
         @SuppressWarnings("unchecked")
         public void setTransactionCache(Map transactionCache) {
              this.transactionCache = transactionCache;
         public void setEventSender(StreamSender sender) {
              streamSender_ = sender;
         public void onInsertEvent(Object event) throws EventRejectedException {
              if (event != null){
                   if (event instanceof MyEvent){
                        MyEvent my = (MyEvent)event ;
                        NamedCache cache = (NamedCache)transactionCache ;
                        Object totalAmount = cache.aggregate(
                                  new EqualsFilter("getACCT_NUMBER", my.getACCT_NUMBER()),
                                  new DoubleSum("getAmount"));
                        double transactionsTotal = 0.00 ;
                        if (totalAmount instanceof Double){
                             transactionsTotal = ((Double)totalAmount).doubleValue();

  • Can't get JSF to access managed bean methods from web page

    I'm using NetBeans 6.7.1 and Glassfish v2.1
    Having problems here can somebody please help? It is really
    frustrating because I have written apps like this before in fact I
    used one as a model to create an even simpler app and still can't get
    it to work. I ran it through the debugger and it stops in the
    constructor so it looks like the bean object is being created, but the
    setUid method and the testit method are not being entered when I click
    on the enter commandbutton. Can somebody PLEASE give me an idea as to
    what might be going on? I am totally stumped and this is holding up
    some important work I need to get done. Any help would be greatly
    appreciated:
