Accessing DAQmx channel information without DAQmx device attached to system.

I am currently writing a LabView VI that makes use of a PXI-6229 card on a seperate chassis. The chassis is connected to a seperate computer from the one that I am using to develope the program. My problem is that I need to be able to obtain the DAQmx channel settings for various global channels, but since I don't have the DAQmx card attached to the system, I can't create global channels, and I can't set the channel nodes to return the data I need. In example, I need to be able to retrieve the Max and Min values for a voltage channel, but the channel properties node only lets me access/see the properties Active Channel, Channel Type, Physical Channel Name, and Description. Is there anyway to define a simulated channel for purposes of programming without the DAQmx card being there?
I'm trying to avoid defining the channels at run time by using globals, but if I need to, I can define them via config file and pull the settings off that as well.

It is possible to have a DAQmx global channel in MAX without having the DAQ Device in that system. You will need to create the global channel in MAX on the system that does have the DAQ Device. Then select File>>Export in MAX on that system to create a .nce configuration file for MAX. You can then load that file into MAX on your development system by selecting File>>Import. That will import your global channels into MAX on your development system. However, they will show up in MAX with a red X next to them indicating that the device is not present.

Even if we go ahead and consumes the service directly from SMP server ignoring the benefits of (registration , notification, track n trace etc), What we would like to understand is that, Does SAP allows us work in that way? For time being let us assume the application & License pattern as B2C.

Full information about DAQmx Task Name - How get?

Labview 7.1 (information required for solve problem)
I put in my application a DAQmx Task Name for fast configuration but i want put all information about task in a txt or spreadsheet file. But in Labview 7.1 haven't VIs like (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3079):
- DAQmx Info Query
- General DAQmx channel Info
- General DAQmx TEDS Info
I'm using Analog Input (Voltage and Accelerometers) with several configurations and I need register all data of configuration to re-execute in the future or know about how acquisition data were gotten.
I think that solve is in property nodes(DAQmx Task, DAQmx Channel, DAQmx Timing), but I believe will be hard work to make. Somebody has this working?

Sorry about that, I haven't checked if they were made only for LV 8 and later. Attached is a zip file with all the VIs converted to the version 7.1.
Some of them were not successfully converted and are presenting fatal errors when opening, probably because they have something not available in 7.1. But I'm sending you anyways, because the three VIs you mentioned in your first post that you wanted, are working fine in LabVIEW 7.1.

Network bound variable on daqmx channels

Hi all,
I have a VI that runs fine reading data through Daqmx.
I also have a 2nd vi running on another pc that has network shared variables bound to some digital in daqmx channels on the 1st PC.
The problem is if i run this at the same time as my 1st vi,my 1st vi no longer processes the digital inputs (i.e.i switch to on and off and nothing happens), do i need to create network shared variables that i populate from the daqmx ones on the first pc and read those across?, im just wondering if its because you cant read the daqmx channels through the daqmx vis and also try to read them through network bound variables?

Can I use iTunes Match on an ATV without a TV attached?

I've got an Apple TV2 that I use for music-only playback, attached to my hifi (using Toslink output, with nothing connected to the HDMI output). It works well with airplay and home sharing, but I'd like to use iTunes Match (airplay from an ios device seems susceptible to glitches, and the Mac with the iTunes library on it is normally suspended if I'm not working).
However, I can't see a way to control playback from iTunes Match without a screen attached. The Apple Remote app lets me play music using home sharing, but you can't really access the menu portion without a tv attached to the ATV2 to see what's happening.

i'm just following this thread and have the same problem as the first poster.
I would love to go to my IPAD with ICloud match enabled and listen to music, but on a proper AV-Receiver system without having a cable attached to the IPAD and WITHOUT turning the TV on and WITHOUT running my laptop all the time.
If i understood this correctly, there are 2 options:
1.) buy the Airport Express and connect it the to the AV-Receiver and use Airplay.
2.) buy the new Apple TV 2 and enable/sync it with ITunes Match.
As far as i understood the main difference is, that on option 1 with Airport Express, the music is still downloaded to my IPAD (16 GB) and then using Airplay to stream it via the Airport Express to my AV-receiver. . So i have to cleanup space after listening to music, otherwise i might run out of space some day....
Also there is another drawback of this method, the battery consumption, because the IPAD streams all the time while listening to music.
Using Itunes Match on Apple TV 2 doesn't download the songs to the ATV 2 , but streams it, because it has no HD capacities..The IPAD is working as a Remote using the latest "Apple Remote App".
This would not consume any battery on the IPAD, since the music process is running on the ATV 2.
As far as i can see, it is possible with the latest firmware of ATV2 and latest IOS enabled.
However, i din't manage to find a statement of how the remote App looks like. All the youtube videos i found show the IPAD/Iphone,/IPOD actually remote controlling the ATV2 software on the TV screen.
Open the Remote app on your device (in this case iPhone). Select the Apple TV you want to use iTunes Match with. You'll see a number of icons in the bottom of the screen. The music related ones (Playlists, Genres, Artists, Albums etc) show your iTunes Match library. If you start playing one of these, it will be streamed from iTunes to your Apple TV. No need for a computer with iTunes to be on.
When i open the Remote App on my IPAD i only get a selection of "enable home sharing" or "add media library". I can't find the Apple TV icon or any icons in the bottom of the screen. Only these 2.
I guess, this is just because i don't have an ATV 2 yet.
Does the Remote App show a screen like my music library on my IPAD ? With all the nice album art etc. ?
If not, i would rather go with option 1 with all the drawbacks of space, battery, etc...
Please reply, if any of you has made any experience with it.

MSI K8N Diamond - Boot problems with USB devices attached.

Hi There.
I have been seeking the forums, but havent found the answer to my problem yet.
This is how it goes with ANY USB devices attached to either of the four USB ports on the Motherboard.
When i turn on my system, it hangs in the POST right after displaying the BIOS version (Which I have updated to 1.6) - I cant use my Keyboard to get to the BIOS setup.
Without USB devices attached...
The system boots without problems. And in Windows XP SP2 i can insert my keyboard, mouse etc. and everything works great - both USB 1.1 & 2.0 devices.
I have disabled the KB/USB.. in BIOS and I have disabled the "Boot on other device" option as well.
As I have found on this forum, a lot of people have problems with USB Front panel and D-Bracket (USB ports) connectors causing the system to hang - But my D-Bracket (USB connectors) and my front USB port is at this time DISCONNECTED - so this cannot be the problem.
The D-Bracket shows the "Bios Sign On" information - and stops at that point
Am I having a malfunctioning Motherboard here, or are there any solutions to this problem?
Please help me as I am desperate to have my system work properly.

Well I have read about that somewhere in here, but my problem is NOT with an USB hub, but with any USB device attached to the motherboard's USB slots. It is driving me nuts to be honest!! I think it might be time for RMA

Not a lot of details here, but my guess is this isn't working for you because you are wiring in the task to the Active Channels Property and not the actual Channel Name. I have attatched a screenshot of what I believe you are trying to do. The Task has 2 channels in it, so I need to index off one of the channels and wire it into the active channels input of the Channel Property node. Then I can read information about that channel

Change a DAQmx channel property for a single channel from a channel group

Hi,
I'm doing some digital output, and I'd like to tristate certain lines in each port. However, I'm having difficulty figuring out how to specify which individual lines to tristate. I input a port and a line range, e.g. PXI-6533/port0/line0:7, specify to use one channel for each line in the DAQmx Create Virtual Channel VI, retrieve the channels from the DAQmx Task Property, and try to operate on the individual channels that way. However, this results in the following error:
Error -200428 occurred at Property Node DAQmx Channel (arg 1) in tristate_test.vi
Possible reason(s):
Measurements: Value passed to the Task/Channels In control is invalid.
The value must refer to a valid task or valid virtual channels.
Task Name: PXI-6533/port0/line0
The NI knowledge base article that deals with this error code talks about creating a task with the DAQ assistant, or ensuring that a task has been created. However, I'm not using the DAQ assistant, as my I/O is pretty complicated; I'm just using a bunch of virtual channels.
Is there a way to specify individual channels to changethe properties of without having to create additional virtual channels? I have 48 digital channels I plan to use, so the less virtual channels I have to create the better.
Please reference the attached VI, which demonstrates the problem I am facing.

You can only software-time tristate for the 6533/6534. Have a look at the attached example.

Is it possible to maintain the last AO value after the DAQmx task is done on device DAQ USB-6341 ?

Hi all,
I use the device DAQ USB-6341 to generate the desired voltage waveform by the "finite samples" sample mode.
I notice that the channel resets to zero volts after the DAQmx task is done and the DAQ USB-6341 does not have
the property AO.idleOutputBehavior to select "Maintain Existing Value".
How can I maintain the last AO value after the DAQmx task is done on device DAQ USB-6341 ?

How many computers do you have in the network?
What is the IP address and default gateway number on your computer?
In order to connect to the wireless network, WVC80N should get valid IP address from the access point.
If the access point has capacity to assign a private IP address to the computers and devices then I think you can use WVC80N.

DAQmx Channel Calibration on PCI-4472

I am reading Analog Input signals from a PCI-4472 device and I need to calibrate the channels independently of each other.
I am using DAQmx Create Channel.vi followed by a DAQmx Timing.vi followed by a DAQmx Start Task.vi and then in a while loop I have a DAQmx Read.vi that reads continous samples on a specified amount of time.
I want to be able for the user to change calibration settings for the different channels before he/she starts the data acquisition process. I want to use the SVL Calibrate Sensor.vi but don't know where to place it on the block diagram. None of the outputs from the SVL Calibrate Sensor.vi can be hooked up to the DAQmx VIs listed above.
How would I use the SVL Calibrate Sensor.vi to calibrate the different channels? I need to be able to set the coupling, excitation, weighting, and etc. on a channel per channel basis.

First of all, The SVL calibrate sensor is a stand alone functional VI and you do not have to connect it with any of the following, DAQmx Create Channel.vi, DAQmx Timing.vi or DAQmx Start Task.vi.
Just double click on it and open its block diagram. You will understand what i am trying to explain
I have attached a VI which you can use to perform cal on each channel with seperate config settings
Just put this part of code inside a case structure and see to it that executes before your DAQ mx create channel to perform SVT calibration before your DAQ process

Daqmx channel property node

Hi all,
I've downloaded an example for a quad counter which uses a daqmx channel property node to specify A,B,Z channels.
I have tried to replicate the example using LV8.1 but the only properties that I get are 'Active Channel' and 'General Properties' with 4 sub properties. Why don't the channel properties show up? What am I missing here?
I have attached a jpeg of what im talking about. Any help is appreciated.

Hi David,
This happens when you have not inserted a DAQ device in your system or your DAQ device is not detected by your MAX.
You could do one of the following
1. Insert a DAQ card into the PCI/PXI slot
or
2. Simulate a DAQmx device in MAX.
By doing this, the corresponding DAQmx properties will show up

Access share on NSS4000 with error: A device attached to the system is not functioning

Hello,
We use Acronis True Image Server to backup 4 Windows 2008 Standard Server system
with 2 different domains, each containing a DC and a RDP-Server.
After Server reboot, backup will run only once a day.
The next day backup aborts, and while trying to access
the network share like \\ip-address\share, as configured in Acronis
I get the error message: A device attached to the system is not functioning.
On the other hand, I can ping the NSS4000 and access share by using the
network (netbios) name instead of the ip.
This will work only for one day, also.
Now, if I try to access the share on the NSS4000 again by ip,
I get the error code 0x80070043 The networkname can not be found.
Ping on ip and netbiosname works.
Share access from one server to an other is not affected and full funtional at all times.
On the first sight I thought, that there it might be with the authentication protocol NTLMV2.
So I configured the GP to send only NTLM Authentication only, without fixing the problem.
Fyi:
I use a NSS4000, Firmware version 1.16-3
The NSS4000 is not a member in neither domains.
I created a dummy user account on each domain, an created a local user on the NSS4000 related
to the dummy user account on each domain.
A good answer helping me to fix with this issue, would be great.

I am constantly seeing this error at multiple sites on Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 Standard and DataCenter.
I have counted over 50 different server I manage with services such as domain controller, hyper-v, file servers, exchange 2013, SQL 2008/2012, and print servers.
I have seen it happen on machine that have been in production for over 2 years and to machines that were just created last week.
It is happening on metal, hyper-v and esx vmware servers.
It is happening when the machine have updates waiting or no updates, or after updates have been applied and awaiting a restart.
It is happening on Dell PowerEdge server, HP Proliant servers and IBM servers.
It is happening on servers with Intel and AMD chip-sets.
It is happening on machines that are a part of a domain or in a workgroup.
It is happening on machines with AV of Bitdefendor, Trend Micro, Vipre, Microsoft Endpoint, and Symantec Endpoint.
Only a restart will fix it.
I have ran process monitor on several of the problem machines and I cannot find anything.
Since I have only started seeing this about 6 month ago it must be a Windows update causing it.

Querying DAQmx channel types in LabVIEW

I want to have my LabVIEW application look through all the DAQmx tasks
defined on the computer and display to the user a list of only analog
input tasks. I tried to do this by:
Use the DAQmx System property node to retrieve a list of all tasks.
For each tasks, use the DAQmx Task property node to retrieve a list of all channels.
For each channel, use the DAQmx Channel property node to query its ChanType.
If all ChanTypes turn out to be Analog Input, then I admit the task into the list.
The problem is that I have tasks that I know are analog output tasks,
but the DAQmx Channel property node still return "Analog Input" as
their ChanType. Am I seeing things, or is this a bona fide
problem? Is there a better way to get a list of the tasks I'm
interested in?

That is strange. I built a VI which queries the DAQmx Task Types like you describe, and it works correctly for me. If all channels in a task are analog input (by the way, this is a little redundant as all channels in a task must be of the same type), then the task name is passed to an array. Otherwise, an empty constant is passed.
Try running the attached VI and see if it works correctly for you.

How to Programmatically Set Scale on DAQmx Channel? Possible LabView Bug?

Hi folks. I have researched this question here on the forums and think I know what I need to do, but it doesn't work.
What I'm Trying to Do
I am creating a DAQmx Analog Out task that will write to a dozen channels. I would like to set the scale on each of those channels to one of a handful of custom scales that I've already defined in my project. From reading various posts on this forum, it sounds like I want to pull each channel out of the task using the DAQmx Task property node, then set each scale by writing to the AO.CustomScaleName property within the DAQmx Channel property node. See the attached screenshots and VI file.
The Problem
I keep getting error 200378 "Custom scale specified does not exist". The custom scale definitely exists in the project, but the VI won't recognize it. It sounds similar to the bug described in this thread: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Why-do-I-receive-Error-200378-quot-Custom-scale-specified-does/td-p/... However, I've tried the various workarounds mentioned in that thread (opening VI outside of project, then from within project, etc) and I don't get any different results. I'm running LV 8.6.1
Questions
Does this VI work for anyone else once you've defined a custom scale with the same name as the one in the VI?
Am I doing something obviously wrong?
Is there a better way to do this?

This workaround isn't exactly what you are trying to do, but I have made a set of VI's that will let you open up the DAQmx Assistants from LabVIEW code programmatically.
Programmatically Call NI DAQmx Assistants
You can call the VI to edit a channel and manually reassign the scale if you want to avoid going straight to MAX.

DAQmx Channels To Read Property Not Working

I have an AI task configured with multiple channels and then set the Channels To Read property to the channel I want before calling the Read VI. If the Channels To Read property value that I set matches the value that was previously set the task passes all the channels to the Read VI rather than the single channel of the property. Does anyone have insight into what might be the problem?
