Accessing OID via SQL

Obviously its not the "official" way, but surely some folks have reverse engineered the oid tables and written views to get user and group info out without going through the ldap search tools, which, compared to the power of sql, are a bit, shall we say, "primitive".
Thanks for any help.
Steve

Hi Steve,
doing direct DB search against the ODS schema is a bad idea.
The LDAP server is designed and optimized to store entries in a tree structure. Also, the database design is not what we would expect from a relational database.
An LDAP entry attributes are stored accross several tables and linked together by entry_id (main tables are ct_dn , ds_attrstore ,...).
Again, doing direct DB operations against OID is not supported by Oracle, and as a side note, it will be slower then the LDAP operations.
On the other hand, if you need to do LDAP operations from PL/SQL, then check out DBMS_LDAP package.

  • Can't access cluster via SQL Server Mng Studio unless node has ownership

    Hi:
    We have Windows and SQL 2008 R2 in a 2 node cluster. Failover and failback work like a dream. All the 'lights' are green. But we can only access the cluster when we're on the node that has ownership. I've deleted all DNS entries and successfully recreated
    them via ipconfig /registerDns from each node, shutting down, restarting the actual cluster and taking the application and service offline then back on line. All DNS records got recreated perfectly. Cluster error log doesn't show anything when we
    can't connect either. We can also ping all IPs, Hostnames and Clustername.

    Hi g_machuca,
    According to your description, you want to implement failover and failback in SQL Server cluster environment. We need to verify if The cluster group containing SQL Server can be configured for automatic failback to the primary node when it becomes available
    again. By default, this is set to off. First you set a preferred owner for the SQL Server service in a clustered environment; To ensure the service or application automatically moves to the correct node, select “Allow Failback” under the Failover tab. .
    Auto failback saves you from having to make this change manually; however it will restart the SQL Services when it automatically fails back. Or if you don’t want to configure auto failback you’ll want to make sure that you manually fail the services
    back to the more powerful node after the system has come back online.
    There are details about failover cluster allows automatic failback, you can review the following articles.

  • Labview bitmaps to Access via SQL

    I am trying to write a bmp file that is created into labview into an access
    database via SQL. The user must be able to browse the database in access and
    view the bitmap image as part of the form. So far I am able to extract the
    bitmap, view it in labview, and save the file using the picture toolkit
    Vi's. If I create a longbinary table in access (OLE Object) I can write some
    binary data to the table but I can't view. Anyone have any ideas how I could
    accomplich this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Internal PLSQL Tables Access via SQL. But how ?

    Hello,
    I want to write the result of a database query in an internal PLSQL Table. After that i would like work with this internal PLSQL Table
    in a Package/Procedure/Function.
    Important for me is to access the internal Table via SQL because i have to refactor a package wich is working with 46 Database Tables an plain SQL. I
    would like to change these DB Tables into internal PLSQL Tables.
    I have written a short example wich will explain my approach to solving this problem.
    The syntax will be accepted by the Database but my 'dbms_output.put_line' statement at the end is empty or blank.
    What do i wrong ? Would be nice if anyone can help me out.
    With best regards

    As Mike says, keep this person away from your database.
    Customers should not be dictating how to implement technical solutions, they should be providing business and logical requirements.
    PL/SQL arrays/collections use expensive PGA memory, taking up valuable server resources.
    Copying data from the database to PGA memory to try and process it using PL/SQL is bad design.  SQL is designed specifically for data manipulation using database tables, so it's the ideal way to do process data... directly on database tables.

  • OID Access through PL/SQL

    We are trying to access OID data user creation and access through PL/SQL. In Oracle examples are specified in PL/SQL block and the password is visible. Is there any other best practice to use otherways.

    The mainframe Transparent Gateways are an extra-cost option that require some DBA configuration. Once that configuration is done, the mainframe data would be exposed as a table across a database link, i.e.
    SELECT *
      FROM <<data file>>@<<database link>>Are you talking about just loading in a basic flat file? Or real mainframe integration?

  • Can connect via ODBC but not via SQL Developer?

    Hi, all.
    My setup:
    Windows XP Pro
    JDK 1.6
    SQL Developer 2.1.1.64.45
    I'm attempting to connect to an Oracle DB using OS authentication and trying hand-entry of the host and SID; and also trying my TNS file. When I attempt to connect via SQL Developer, I get the following error:
    "Status : Failure -Test failed: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied."
    When I attempt this same connection, however, using ODBC and Access, I can get right in and see the tables.
    What can I try in order to get SQL Developer working correctly?
    Thanks,
    IVR Avenger

    I'm not really familiar with connections Using OS authentication, but if OCI+TNS based connections work you could try to activate OCI connections by selecting
    Preferences -> Database -> Advanced -> Use OCI/Thick Driverand then use the TNS connection type when creating your connection.
    It should work well even with the thin driver but i cannot help you in this case because i've never had to use this kind of authentication.

  • Selecting xml-messages from ORABPEL-schema via SQL

    Hi,

    Can anybody help, how to do this?

    DOCKEY

    BIN
    MODIFY_DATE

    Bin is of type blob....

  • Accessing OID API from Javascript

    Hi,
    is there a way to access OID API directly from the client side ? using javascript ? Thanks.
    To help you understanding what I intend to do : I need to display a hyperlink but this hyperlink will be dynamic based on the "location" of the current user. This "location" can be found by querying OID.
    Thanks.
    Jeff

    Hi
    You don't need client side scripting, neither XMLHTTPRequest. Just write a small PL/SQL procedure on the serveur that will create the link you want based on the current user/location retrieved from OID, then call it for instance with a dynamic page
    In a dynamic page, write
    begin
    portal.my_package..my_proc;
    end;
    and my_proc on the server would do something like :
    declare
    lc_url long;
    begin
    -- retrieve into lc_url the oid info you need for current user, may be using additionnal wwctx_api library
    htp.p('<a href="http://my_serveur/' || lc_url || ">link</a>');
    end;

  • .csv data import via SQL developer

    I am trying to load an Access 2003 table into an Oracle 10g database via SQL developer. The Access file is located on another system and there is no ODBC connection between it and the SQL server.
    What I have done so far is the following:
    i) Export Access table as comma-delimited text file;
    ii) Open text file and re-saved as .CSV;
    iii) On SQL developer - created a table that matches the column structure in the original Access table, then right-clicked > Import Data > on Data Import Wizard I click Next...
    after this, the wizard hangs on step 1, and does not allow me to move to the second step. It doesn't matter whether or not the SQL *Loader option is checked.
    If anyone could offer some advice on the procedure I have applied above and possible sources of weakness, I'd be grateful to hear your thoughts. I'm relatively new to Oracel SQL and not very experienced with databases in general.
    Thanks

  • Training - Will Adobe Connect Pro provide access to an SQL database?

    Hi,
    I'd be totally indebted to find out the following information regarding Adobe Connect Pro as we're evaluating it for hosting Captivate created content.
    Background: Adobe has an API and we are hoping that we can make  our  own custom form and then upload additional Trainee information (say they  have two cell numbers or their birthdate) into the hosted Adobe Connect  site for our training.  We want Trainees to be able to register themselves via a form that we host and have the push in via the Adobe Connect API.  It's too painful for us to have to make a userid for the trainees each time.
    Question 1) Is there a way for us to get access to the SQL Trainee database hosted with Adobe Connect?  If so how is that done?
    Question 2) Will the custom values (e.g. the phone and birthdate) that are made on our form and passed to Adobe Connect's LMS viewable by the Admin Reports interface?
    Question 3) Will the custom values (e.g. the phone and birthdate) that  are made on our form and passed to Adobe Connect's LMS viewable wihin the SQL database if we have access to that (see question 1).
    Thank you!

    According to http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2618 you should be able to access it via a browser by going to https://www.icloud.com/#mail
