Accessing pickList's selected values

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to use a rich:pickList with two datastructures: one for the possible option values and another to retrieve the user selected values. I can create and populate the pickList with the option values, like this:
<rich:pickList copyAllControlLabel="Add all" copyControlLabel="Add">
<f:selectItems value="#{SessionBean.tempDistincts}"/>
</rich:pickList>tempDistincts is:
private ArrayList<SelectItem> tempDistincts = new ArrayList<SelectItem>();And populated this way:
Vector<String> values = extractor.getDistinctValues();
for (int i = 0; i < values.size(); i++) {
tempDistincts.add(new SelectItem(values.elementAt(i)));
}This pick list displays the values correctly, however, when I try to add a new structure to retrieve the selected values I get an error.
The XML code is:
<rich:pickList value="#{SessionBean.tempSelectedValues}" copyAllControlLabel="Add all" copyControlLabel="Add">
<f:selectItems value="#{SessionBean.tempDistincts}"/>
</rich:pickList>Where tempSelectedValues is:
private ArrayList<String> tempSelectedValues = new ArrayList<String>(); When I try to run, I get the following error:

Yes, I found that strange too, but since I'm fairly new to JSF I just thought a strict syntax was required.
My variable is named "tempSelectedValues".
The wrongly name accessor was the getter, it was declared like this:
public List<String> getSelectedValues() {...}Once I changed it to
public List<String> getTempSelectedValues() {...}it started working.

• Accessing Selected Value from Payment Terms (Item 47) in AR Invoice Form

Hi,
Have just started working in SAP Business One and SDK adn would really appreciate any help I could receive.
I'm trying to access the selected value from Payment Terms field(Item 47) in the AR Invoice Form.
Have successfully managed to do this against Customer Code field using the following code-:
Private Sub eventHandlerTest(ByVal FormUID As String, pVal As SAPbouiCOM.ItemEvent, BubbleEvent As Boolean)
Dim frm As SAPbouiCOM.Form
Dim itmCustomer As SAPbouiCOM.Item
Dim edtCustomer As SAPbouiCOM.EditText
Dim itmRemark As SAPbouiCOM.Item
Dim edtRemark As SAPbouiCOM.EditText
Dim FieldNo As String
Set frm = SBO_Application.Forms(FormUID)
Set itmCustomer = frm.Items(pVal.ItemUID)
Set edtCustomer = itmCustomer.Specific
If UCase(edtCustomer.Value) = "CALECH1" Then
FieldNo = "16"
Set itmRemark = frm.Items(FieldNo)
Set edtRemark = itmRemark.Specific
edtRemark.String = "E"
End If
End Sub
However when doing the same thing for Payment Terms I get the error "Run-time error '13': type mismatch" on the line
Set edtOrderType = itmOrderType.Specific
Thanks

Hi,
On the new invoice's form item 47 is ComboBox and I guess it's stay in the same type when you open existing invoice. So try to work with this item like with ComboBox. But if you need only get some information about existing invoice, you don't need to fork with the screen objects - you can get all you need from the DI Document object. Open Document object with Invoice type, find invoice and check PaymentGroupCode property.
Best regards,
Mark

• Retrieve select value from picklist

I have picklist which has values 1,2,3
To retrive Picklist value i wrote FieldValue('<Picklistname>'> but nothing happend
I need to retrieve the selected value and add to Today() Function.
Edited by: user11170982 on May 28, 2009 3:06 AM

The info you have been given is correct: Today()+[<CustomPicklist>].
I think the key is to be sure you check Post Default. This will populate the value after the user picks the correct number of days in the picklist and then saves the record. If the user doesn't pick a day in the picklist, it will resolve to Today().
Good Luck.

• How t print out selected values from a Jlist

hi iam trying to get the selected values from a list to print out as a string but iam getting ,Invalid cast from java.lang.Object[] to java.lang.String.is there any way to get the selected values t print ut as a string?? import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
public class MultipleSelection2 extends JFrame {
private JList colorList, copyList;
private JButton copy;
private String colorNames[] =
{ "Black", "Blue", "Cyan", "Dark Gray", "Gray",
"Green", "Light Gray", "Magenta", "Orange", "Pink",
"Red", "White", "Yellow" };
public MultipleSelection2()
super( "Multiple Selection Lists" );
Container c = getContentPane();
c.setLayout( new FlowLayout() );
colorList = new JList( colorNames );
colorList.setVisibleRowCount( 5 );
colorList.setFixedCellHeight( 15 );
colorList.setSelectionMode(
ListSelectionModel.MULTIPLE_INTERVAL_SELECTION );
c.add( new JScrollPane( colorList ) );
// create copy button
copy = new JButton( "Copy >>>" );
copy.addActionListener(
new ActionListener() {
public void actionPerformed( ActionEvent e )
// place selected values in copyList
copyList.setListData(
colorList.getSelectedValues());
String s1 =(String)colorList.getSelectedValues();

Since the JList method 'getSelectedValues' returns an object array you'll need to iterate through the array and cast each object in the array to a string as you access them.
Object[] o = colorList.getSelectedValues();
for(int count=0,end=o.length; count<end; count++) {
String s = (String) o[count];
Hope that helps

• Reading selected values from af:selectManyListbox

Hi
got af:selectManyListbox in the page with the dept_id as the base attribute and dept_name as the display attribute.
Since its multi select i'm able to read the selected values using array as per the following code
BindingContext bc1 = BindingContext.getCurrent();
DCBindingContainer binding1 = (DCBindingContainer)bc1.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
JUCtrlListBinding listBindings1 = (JUCtrlListBinding)binding1.get("DEPTVIEW1");
Object str[] = listBindings1.getSelectedValues();
System.out.println("after  Object str[] = listBindings1.getSelectedValues();");
for (int i = 0; i < str.length; i++) {
System.out.println(str[i]);
which is returning the dept_id s since its the base attribute
say
2
3
6
on basis of selection
I got to retrieve the DEPT_NAME too?
How to fetch the DEPT_NAME which is the display attribute??
Bindings has the DEPTVIEW1 in the variables. so i cant separately access the DEPT_NAME too from bindings.
Thanks
Chaya

Hey chaya,
I use a similar method of what you use, but i use it with selectionEvents but take a look at my code and see if it can help you:
//get access to the master table to read selected row keys
RichTable rt = (RichTable) selectionEvent.getSource();
RowKeySet rks = rt.getSelectedRowKeys();
while (selectedRowsIterator.hasNext()) {
List rowKey = (List) selectedRowsIterator.next();
//make the row current
rt.setRowKey(rowKey);
JUCtrlHierNodeBinding wrappedRow = (JUCtrlHierNodeBinding) rt.getRowData();
Row rw = wrappedRow.getRow();
long var_dimCoinInt = (Long) rw.getAttribute("PkCoin");
regards,
Frederico.

• Using an index to access the last n values of a certain combination

I have a large table of the following form:
Name Typ
ID NUMBER
M_DATE DATE
M_LOC NUMBER
M_ARTICLE VARCHAR2(30)
M_TYPE VARCHAR2(30)
M_MEASURE VARCHAR2(50)
VALUE NUMBER
In this table there is only a small number of different locations, articles, types and maesures but a large number of m_date values.
I want to access the last 10 values for a certain combination of locations, articles, types and measures.
I have an index
create index i_res_2 on results (m_loc, m_article, m_type, m_measure, m_date);
In my opinion it should be possible to access the last 10 values directly by this index, but
when I do my select in the following way it seems to me that first all datasets with the same
locations, articles, types and maesures are selected, then sorted by date and then the last 10
dates are selected. As those datasets are spread over the whole table it needs a higher number
of physical reads. Is there a way to have an index on m_date and an other form of this query
that selects the requested values with less phyical reads? (Database version is 10.2)

I found a solution, which is much better in terms of physical reads and consistent gets even if the optimizer calculates higher costs. But I still think, that there should be an easier way to do this:
SQL> select

• How to get the selected value in SelectOneMenu in backing bean

Hello all,
I need your help. I want to have 2 select menus with the second menu's items list are populated based on the selection in the first menu. I don't know how to get the selected value in the backing bean so that I can based on that select menu to populate the second menu's item list. Basically I need to access to the UI Component of the first select Menu and retrieve its selected value.
Could you help me out?
Thank you very much in advance,
Lngo

Hi Lingo,
There r two ways of getting the values into the list. First one is hardcoding the values and the second one is use the list and get the values into the list by firing a query in the database.
Inorder to display the values in the second menu based on the first onces selection we need to add an attribute to the first selectonemenu known as valueChangeListener and we need to sumit the page.
Here is the sample code
<h:selectOneMenu id="catalogue"
binding="#{urbean.catalogue}" onchange="submit()"
valueChangeListener="#{urbean.categoryValueChange}"
<f:selectItem itemLabel="Select Catalogue" itemValue="" />
<f:selectItems value="#{urbean.catalogueList}" />
</h:selectOneMenu>
<h:selectOneMenu id="category"
binding="#{urbean.category}">     <f:selectItem itemLabel="Select Category" itemValue="" />
<f:selectItems value="#{urbean.categoryList}" />
<                         </h:selectOneMenu>
now in method called by valuechangelistener we need to write the similar code
public void categoryValueChange(ValueChangeEvent event) {
String rfnum = (String) event.getNewValue();
List categoryList = new ArrayList();
List tempList = new TablenameDAO().getActiveCatByCatalogueID(rfnum);
for (int i = 0; i < tempList.size(); i++) {
Tablename tablename = (Tablename ) tempList.get(i);
String value = "" + tablename .getrfnum();
String label = tablename .getname();
if (label == null) {
label = "";
SelectItem item = new SelectItem(value, label);
categoryList.add(item);
bean.setCategoryList(categoryList);
///getActiveCatByCatalogueID (rfnum) should bring the records which r based on the rfnum
if u follow this process i am damsure that u will get the values in to the secondlist based upon the first list
Thanks & Regards

• How to display selected value in MessageChoice

HI,
I have a messageChoice on my Update screen. I need to display the selected value when the user comes to update the data on the screen. In the Process Request when i am printing the stmt
System.out.println("The type of bean is PortletItemID::"+webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("PortletItemID"));
The output is The type of bean is PortletItemID:: OAFormValueBean
How can i set the value that is coming from database in order to show the selected value in the message choice when the user is coming to the screen for updating the data.
Thanks,
Mohammadi

Hi Tapash,
In my case, i have mentioned the value in picklist View Definition ,picklist display attribute and picklist Value attribute. Where should i be providing my database value so that i can compare and display it as selected value.
Thanks,

• Access the X-axis value from Flash Chart

Hi,
Is there a way I can access the X-axis value from Flash Chart to populate a report in another page? My X-axis is not a direct column in the table it is computed in the query.
X-axis is MON-YEAR computed from the Begin_Date column. I want to capture the MON-YEAR clicked by the user to populate a report for that Mon-Year.
Here is my chart SQL.
select 'f?p=&APP_ID.:18:&SESSION.:::::::' link,
to_char( "VIEW"."BEGIN_DATE",'MON-YYYY') label,
sum(decode(TYPE_Id,2,Value,0)) "Value-1",
sum(decode(TYPE_Id,1,Value,0)) "Value-2"
from "VIEW" where to_char( "VIEW"."BEGIN_DATE",'MON-YYYY')= to_Char(sysdate-100, 'MON-YYYY')
group by to_char( "VIEW"."BEGIN_DATE",'MON-YYYY'),
to_char( "VIEW"."BEGIN_DATE",'YYYY')
order by to_char( "VIEW"."BEGIN_DATE",'YYYY')
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Thanks Marco..
I did the same thing. I found this info at Re: Charts and links
in the forum.
Thanks for the help again.

}but this always returns the first option. How would I access what value the user selected? Also, I cannot find any docs on how I would access fields of jsf components through javascript. Are there any books, links or resources I can follow so that I can use javascript in my jsf applications?
Thanks,
Marc

yes, i should expand.....the external hard drive i link iphoto to has had an error and basically the iphoto package is hoarding all of my photos so i'm searching everywhere i can to piece back the 1 TB of photos that are gone. data recovery is too expensive from what i have found so i'm left trying to do this! i have another external drive that backs up my entire system on a regular basis throughout the day. i was able to recover the iphoto library from a few months ago before it was deleted (it had been backed up). so i'm only missing a few months of photos now. i was hoping if i could access the trash files (if they're backed up on this drive) that i would find photographs that had been on my desktop and then i'd put in the trash......does that help clarify??? so i basically want to look in the trash bin that was backed up in several files on this drive (IF that's even possible!) thanks for your help!!!

• User has no write access to the selected members of dimension : CATEGORY

Hello,
Here is the Scenario:
I have a script called DAllocate.lgf in an app - Costing. Now I need to run that app from another app called Reporting. I know that Runlogic wont work in my case because in the Dallocate.lgf there are some Runlogic commands being used. and when Runlogic is being used to call a logic that has runlogics in it, it wont work. So what I hae done is in the SSIS package in the reporting app, I have added a logic task to an existing package and specified DAllocate.lgf with the app name costing.
Here is the issue:
When I run an SSIS package in costing app called Dallocate(which basically runs dallocate.lgf), it runs successfully. But If I run a package called PtoCA in Reporting that has Dallocate.lgf as a logic task, it gives the following error:
"user has no write access to the selected members of dimension : CATEGORY "
Thanks.

Hi,
From your explanation it is clear that Dallocate.LGF has been run successfully in one of the logics. This means the issue is not in the Dallocate.LGF. The issue is in some other logic of the same DM package.
First, check which logic part faces this issue. Based on your explanation, definitely not in Dallocate.LGF.
Then, check how that particular Catergory dimension member which the user does not have access for, came into the logic calculation. Somewhere in the calculation, it is posting a value in the unauthorized member.

• Access Web Database - Select record and make report with all associated records

Hey everyone,
Right now I'm in the middle of trying to convert an Access client database to be web compatible and I'm running into some problems. For this question, I think I may need to explain a little bit about the database:
The database I'm making is designed to store information about music rights for different songs. The users can input information about writers, producers, organizations, properties, businesses - which is stored all in different related tables. Then, when a
user inputs a song, they choose which writers, produces, organizations, etc. are affiliated with that song.
What I'm trying to do is make a report where you can choose a writer from the list of all the writers and then produce a report with all of the songs by that writer.
I was able to do this in the Access client by making a report that, when opened would trigger (using the On Open event) a form to open where you would choose a writer from a combo box and then click a button. When the button was clicked, it would use the value
in the combo box in a query, which would find all of the songs by that writer and then open up the report which would have the writer and all of their songs on it.
Because web reports don't have many event options and web queries are very limited, I have not found a way to make this report.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I found that you've cross post the quesion on our Answer forum, are you satisfiled the reply from there?

If the page root AM is extended then delete the extension by jdr_util.deleteDocument or using functional Adminstartor
