Accessing Server Logs Question

I'm working on converting an old ASP application to a Java one, and have some questions.
The customer wants a semi-sophisticated auditing system built in to the application, but I'm not sure OAS can provide the same level of detailed logs that IIS did (at least, not without a JNI DLL somewhere).
One of the reports requested, "Client Errors", wants to output the following fields:
- Requested File
- Error Code
- Total Requests
- Client Description
- Error Description
- Win32 Description
There are about 2 dozen other reports, as well.
The questions:
1. Can OAS log this sort of information in an extended w3c log format (Win32 Description might not be possible without JNI)?
2. How is the best way for the application to get to these logs? (I currently envision a regular job running to read the log into a database table)
Sorry if these are dumb questions. Any help would be appreciated.

Each Report Server has a log in which it record each time a report is run.

  • Client Access Server Logs that capture Outlook Anywhere Connections

Do Exchange 2010 Client Access Servers log Outlook Anywhere connections? Since it's RPC over HTTP, I'm thinking these would be in the IIS logs but don't see any entries in those logs that pertain to Outlook Anywhere. What logs contain Outlook Anywhere connections?
I suspect I have a CAS server that isn't working properly pertaining to OA and need to be able to review some sort of logs to confirm.
    Thanks

    ARay,
    Do the below basic checks-
Running the Test-OutlookConnectivity cmdlet. The cmdlet tests for Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTP) and TCP/IP connections. If the cmdlet
test fails, the output notes the step that failed.
Running the Outlook Anywhere connectivity test using the Exchange Remote Connectivity Analyzer (ExRCA). When you run this test, you get a detailed summary showing where the test failed and what steps you can take to fix issues.
Both tests try to log on through Outlook Anywhere after obtaining server settings from the Autodiscover service. End-to-end verification includes the following:
    Testing for Autodiscover connectivity
    Validating DNS
Validating certificates (whether the certificate name matches the Web site, whether the certificate has expired, and whether it's trusted)
Checking that the firewall is set up correctly (ExRCA checks overall firewall setup. The cmdlet tests for Windows firewall configuration.)
Confirming client connectivity by logging on to the user's mailbox

Properly-configured and functional DNS services are critical for proper operations of distributed authentication and network encryption; for Open Directory and various other OS X Server components.
Please verify local DNS on the server.  Launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities, and issue the following harmless diagnostic command:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
You'll have to enter an administrative password for the sudo, might get a one-time message around the use of sudo, then some configuration information will display, and then an indication that no changes are required, or that there are issues with the network or DNS configuration.

  • Access Server-SAP IDOC Message Question

    Hi.
We have configured an access server to receive realtime IDOC messages from SAP. Required configuration has been done on the BODS side:
On Web admin console for RFC client configuration and real-time service configuration
On the SAP RFC Connection, logical system, and partner profile setup side.
Issue is on the SAP side it shows message was sent successfully where as on the BODS side the message received count is 0.
Any insights any one can share regarding how to troubleshoot this issue would be really appreciated
    Thanks
    Rajiv

Thanks. It was an IDOC mismatch error.
Now we do have correct IDOC mismatch but to me now it seems to be a data issue now.
I have the real-time job and I am getting the following error when I view Access server logs.
SP(PPROLL01, l1.no.com:3500)::flowThread() Flow became invalid during waiting for request (BODI-300137)
Unknown: R3RfcClient(NewR3Rfc_1) ActaIDocFunc::Process() encountered processing error for Requeste(4) (Communication Error. See real time job log for details.) (IDOC 0000000000209266/RPD210    ). (BODI-300129)
Real time job log does not show any thing in the error log other than the trace log which shows:
DATAFLOW: Cache statistics determined that data flow <DF_ZFII034_PPAYROLL01_TEST_RT> uses <0> caches with a total size of <0> bytes. This is less than(or equal to) the virtual memory <3757047808> bytes available for caches. Statistics is switching the cache type to IN MEMORY.
To check if the mapping is valid I created another batch job using the same IDOC as used in the real-time job above but BODS gives me a generic error. I had all tracing enabled even then it gave a generic error.

  • CVP Call Server Logs

    Dear Members,
Could someone help me by providing any good document related to the "CVP CALLSERVER LOGS" and "CVP VXMLSERVER LOGS"
    Regards,
    Senthil.

I'll leave the Call Server log question alone for a bit, because you have a point.
But the CVP VXML activity logs could not be any more transparent.
When the logging is set to complete (the default), and all the modules turned on (again, the default), every element is tracked in detail, plus any of your custom logging that you add either in the elements or in your own Action Elements is recorded in the log.
The CVP VXML documentation describes exactly how the log file is layed out. The VXML engine buffers the logging for each call and writes it when the call terminates, keeping all the activities for one call together in a block.
What is it about these logs that you want to understand? It's extremely obvious.
The only thing that is annoying is that the default setting for the activity log rotation attribute is "by_size" with a ludicrous value of 100MB. It should be set to
The other little thing I'll complain about is somewhere between CVP 3 and CVP 7, they lost control over the comma-separated fields. These were exact in CVP 3, and you could import into SQL - in fact, a tool was provided. Along came the Reporting Option and bye-bye went the tool.
But there are some inconsistencies now with the number of comma-separated fields and I had to write a little Java pre-processor to pass my activity logs through, before upload into SQL Server. Annoying.
    Regards,
    Geoff

  • Where do I find my server logs?

Assuming you are using Tomcat as your application server, there are at least 2 "sets" of logs created during the normal operation of an Adobe Access license server:
    1. Regular logs created by the application server (independent of any web application).  These are your "access", "catalina", "manager", etc... logs that are typically found in your /tomcat/logs/ directory.
    2. Adobe Access server logs created by the Adobe Access license server web application.
2a) If you are using the Adobe Access License Server Reference Implementation, the target location of the log file is specified in the "log4j.xml" file that is provided by Adobe Access during initial setup of your server.  This file is called "AdobeFlashAccess.log" by default.  On the Adobe Access DVD/ESD, this file is located at: \Reference Implementation\Server\resources\
2b) If you are using the Adobe Access License Server for Protected Streaming, several different log files (for global/partition/tenant levels) are created with a ".log" extension in the directory where you have installed your license server in your tomcat installation.  For example, a log file will be \tomcat6\licenseserver\flashaccess-global.log

  • GF 3.1.1 - java.security.AccessControlException: access denied - server.log

I am upgrading an old NB4.1 produced JSP system that runs on Netscape iplanet to NB7.0.1 built JSP system running on Glassfish 3.1.1. I have four main files: login.html, login.jsp, ApplicationRmiConnection, and MenuManager.jsp . Three of four are working. The login.html is only a startup means to be sent to the login.jsp. The ApplicationRmiConnection is a servlet called by the login.jsp. It reads a properties file, establishes connection with the RMI and database (currently on the OLD system (Netscape iplanet)) which it does quite well. After the ApplicationRmiConnection is established and working the MenuManager.jsp . The first output from the MenuManager.jsp is a series of application.log calls for verification of data passed in from the successful ApplicationRmiConnection database read.
How does GF 3.1.1 loose AccessControl permissions to the server.log to which it is writing? All I am using is application.log statements and it coughs, chokes, and quits.
    My output stacktrace is:

The problem area has been found. We need to know the best method to replace the two lines of code we commented out. Here is what we found.
Glassfish 3.1.1 Security does not play well with old RMI security (JDK1.2 vintage). Furthermore, once the old RMI security has messed with the mind of GF3.1.1 security the GF security truly believes it has in some cases no permission to read its own server.log file.
Here is the offending code commented out in the Server Client Adapter (client wrapper):
Note: this is legacy rmi code. i.e. manually executed rmic on the appropriate classfiles as this was originally created for java 1.2.
    // if(System.getSecurityManager() == null)
    // System.setSecurityManager(new RMISecurityManager());
    remote = (com.davisco.rmi.ServerAppServantAdapter_Stub)Naming.lookup(stringbuffer.toString());
A thank you goes out to www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t276590-access-denied-java-lang-runtimepermission-createsecuritymanager.html even if it is five years old.
Again, this is using the original version of RMI. How do we re-implement the RMI Security Manager without offending GF 3.1.1 security?

If you refer to C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles, you can delete them manually or use a Powershell script to delete them.

  • Access Jboss server.log through application

    Dear all,
i am using jboss application server.
In my implementation place, no permission to see the application server pc,
So, if i want to see the jboss server.log file,
is there any option to see server.log file through web application.
    Plz suggest.
    Thanx,.
    Rams.

Use java.io.File in combination with ServletContext#getRealPath().
There is no guarantee that it will work, you're dependent on the disk file system level read permissions for Java. If it is disallowed, you will get an 'Access denied' IOException during read.

  • How to have a live feed from application server log file (realtime viewr )

how to have a live feed from application server log file (realtime viewr for apps log files)
hi , thank you for reading my post.
is there any way to have a live feed of Application server log ?
for example is there any application that can watch the log file and show the changes as new log items come in ?
can some one with more experience help ?

Your question would be more suited to the Developer Forums
    http://devforums.apple.com
    but anyway...
My goal is to develop a web application that is able to run on iPhone too, to capture the audio and video content from its camera and mic.
Web Apps running in Safari don't have access to the camera or mic hardware.
Or I should built a native application distributed through Apple store?
That is your only option, although such a system already exists:

  • Windows 7 Desktop synchronisation - Windows cannot access \\server\users\name\desktop

    Hi there
My client has a laptop which won’t load the desktop when disconnected from the network. When you log on (while disconnected) you get the error
    “Windows cannot access \\server\users\name\desktop”
Works as expected while connected to the network.
The server is a Windows Small Business Server 2003 with active directory etc. and roaming profiles turned on. This issue does not occur on other workstations/laptops.
When I check the Users folder on the local system drive there is not a desktop folder. I assume this is the issue although I’m not sure how you would force windows to create one or why one hasn’t been created?
This is a brand new laptop so my initial reaction was to reset the laptop to factory state and then add the laptop back in to the domain. After this process the issue was still present!
I guess the only thing I should mention is that this was shipped as a Home Premium laptop and was then upgraded to Professional using an upgrade key.
I have checked Control Panel, System & Security, System, Advanced, User Profiles and the account shows as Local with Roaming Profiles greyed out.
    Any ideas?
