    Maybe your web.xml is wrong. Doublecheck it.

  • Obtaining client certificate in servlet using apache + tomcat

    Hi,
    I'm porting a webapplication from Javawebserver to Apache/1.3.6 (Win32) mod_jk mod_ssl/2.2.6 OpenSSL/0.9.2b
    The application needs to get the client certificate hash code.
    Using Javawebserver I used
    request.getAttribute ("javax.net.ssl.cipher_suite");
    request.getAttribute("javax.net.ssl.peer_certificates");
    etc
    How do I set up the apache webserver so that I can read the client certificate and what is the attribute called?
    I've tried this in the httpd.conf:
    SSLOptions +ExportCertData
    And the attribute:
    "SSL_CLIENT_CERT"
    Like it says in the Tomcat documentation.
    I'm not sure if I need to set up Tomcat as well..
    Any help would be greatly appriciated!
    Sincerely,
    AM Hjemaas

    Yup use ajp13 not ajp12 or mod_webapp
    refer to http://www.galatea.com/flashguides/apache-tomcat-24-win32.xml on setting up..
    THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!
    use Apache mod_jk.dll diretive:
    JkEnvVar Apache_Env_Var FORWARD_ALIAS
    this will send a apache environment variable (http://myapache/cgi-bin/printenv.pl to see whats available) to Tomcat
    JkEnvVar SSL_CLIENT_CERT SSL_CLIENT_CERT
    Then in Tomcat servlet use request.getAttribute("SSL_CLIENT_CERT") to get the cert in PEM format
    Hope this helps

  • Adv. of using apache with tomcat??

    can anyone pl tell me the advantages of using Apache with Tomcat in comarison to other web servers?
    Thanks

    The biggest advantages are that they are open source, so you don't have to pay a huge licence fee, and they are very stable. I don't know how they compare for speed - I know Apache is lightning when it comes to serving flat pages, there are no benchmarks yet for the new Tomcat because it was only released last monday. You can run them on linux or another unix variant, so they are more likely to be secure (windows servers are horrendously open to attack) and stable.

  • Tomcat 4.1 Oracle Blob problem using apache commons DBCP

    Hi all,
    We are using Tomcat 4.1.12, Java 1.4.x and trying to take advantage of the connection pooling that comes with Tomcat(the apache commons DBCP).
    We are connecting to a oracle database.
    Works fine for everything EXCEPT Blobs. We have a servlet that serves images from Oracle, that works fine when it doesn't use the connection pooling, but throws an exception when we call the
    ERROR: Class:DisplayGraphic Method:processRequest(HttpServletRequest request, Ht
    tpServletResponse response)
    Exception: org.apache.commons.dbcp.DelegatingResultSet
    DataSource ds = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("jdbc/db_connection");
    Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
    PreparedStatement pstmt = null;
    ResultSet rs = null;
    pstmt = conn.prepareStatement("SELECT graphic FROM graphics WHERE graphic_id = 1");
    rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
    if(rs.next())
        oracle.sql.BLOB oBlob = ((OracleResultSet) oRS).getBLOB("GRAPHIC");
        InputStream oIS =  oBlob.getBinaryStream();
        ... etc etc...
    }Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Alex.

    solved the problem.. i was using getBLOB instead of
    getBlob
    doh..Hi Alex,
    your problem is very interesting for me because I have a similar problem and your identical configuration...
    the instruction
    oracle.slq.BLOB aBlob = ((OracleResultSet)super.mRs).getBLOB("BLOBBONE")
    causes this:
    java.lang.ClassCastException: org.apache.commons.dbcp.DelegatingResultSet
    To resolve this, I changed, in server.xml , the factory
    <parameter>
                        <name>factory</name>
                        <value>org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory</value>
                   </parameter>
    with:
    <parameter>
    <name>factory</name>
    <value>oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory</value>
    </parameter>
    and magically all works fine...
    But the question is... Why doesn't it work with the standard factory???
    There is a problem in the CLASSPATH that I don't see?
    Any suggestions is welcome!
    Thanks in advance!

  • Enterprise portal access using reverse proxy using Apache and webdispatcher

    Hi Guys,
    As requirement, we need to give solution to customer about Reverse proxy scenario. I am new to this part.
    What we have think of to use Apache and Web dispatcher.
    I tried to search documents and found some sdn links also but still i am not comfortable to go about.
    Need suggestion and document if anyone has used so far.reverse proxy.
    As basis person, we need to do all ( Apache installation, Apache configuration, Web dispatcher installation and configuration, integration with EP.)
    It will helpful to me if i can get Apache installation, Apache configuration part and integration with EP, or web dispatcher, configuration etc.
    Thanks,
    Deepak

    We used Netscaler for Reverse Proxy implementation and can assure you that network team performed most of the set ups. This was on EP 7.01.
    From BASIS stand point it would be primarily Web Dispatcher Configuration.
    Also refer the links I specified in another thread. There are several scenarios discussed there -

    Hi,
    Thank you for your suggestion. your point about the folders could be right.
    Because for some reason, the folders org, org/apache, org/apache/grp under:
    /usr/local/tomcat/work/Catalina/localhost/FTPSchedulerWeb/
    were not getting created. And so we manually created them and attached them to the necessary group, to get proper file permissions.
    But my doubt still remains as to why those folders were not created. Well there is one point I want to ask here, in teh Tomcat server web.xml file, the following code is not present:
    <webapp>

    .
    .
    <servlet>
            <servlet-name>jsp</servlet-name>
            <servlet-class>org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
            <servlet-name>jsp</servlet-name>
            <url-pattern>*.jsp</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-mapping>
            <servlet-name>jsp</servlet-name>
            <url-pattern>*.jspx</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    ..
    .
    .
    </webapp>Could that be a possible reason as to why the server is unable to create those folders? Well, I do not know the actual reason. Please let me know what possibly could be the reason for this problem.
    Thanks a lot for your help!!

    Connecting to an EJB from a jsp in tomcat is no different from connecting to an EJB from a remote client.
    You have to go through the basics such as setting up your Initial context and then doing a lookup.
    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext(props);
    MyBeanHome beanhome = (MyBeanHome) ctx.lookup("ejb/mysuperbean");

  • Tomcat and Apache: No go

    Hi,
    Some time ago I've been working with Apache (3.17 or something) and Tomcat 3.x on a Win98 system. This worked quite well...
    Now I have downloaded and installed Apache 3.20 and Tomcat 4.0 on a WinME system. Apache works properly and I can also run the JSP and servlet examples of Tomcat (http://localhost:8080).
    However, I cannot access the sample JSP's and servlets when I'm using Apache. That is, if I go to the default index.html of Apache (http://localhost/) I get the page, but http://localhost/examples fails.
    I have tried to find information on how to link the Tomcat 4.0 'engine' with Apache 3.20 (I expect having to make changes to the httpd.conf file), but the renewed documentation on the Jakarta-Tomcat pages is total cr*p. I hope someone in these forums can show me an example of how to enable Tomcat 4.0 support in Apache 3.20 webservers...

    Okay, so far I've found out that MOD_WEBAPP takes care of accessing Tomcat 4.0 from Apache, so that problem is solved.
    Suppose I want to add an example JSP of my own to the examples directory. I'm able to put the JSP file in a new subdirectory called "temp" under $CATALINA_HOME/webapps/examples/jsp and it runs.
    However, after putting a new feature in my JSP file it crashed. When I put a classfile that is now required under $CATALINA_HOME/webapps/examples/WEB-INF/classes/temp, which is exactly where the Tomcat examples leave their classfiles, Tomcat tells me it cannot find the class. Can someone please show me an example of what I need to type in the server.xml file, a web.xml file and where exactly I'm supposed to put my classfile...

  • Tomcat and Apache JServ

    Hi,
    Wanted to know regarding the performance difference between apache'Jserv and tomcat.
    I'm using apache with Jserv for JSP and i have an search engine application which fetches values from the database and if multiple users are accessing the site at the same time...the JVM goes 100% and the page is not displayed.
    I wanted to know that if i switch from Apache and JServ to Apache and Tomcat..will it make any difference performance wise or will it be the same.
    Platform: WindowsNT
    Backend: Oracle 8i.
    Thanks in advance.

    To my understanfing, JServ was the older jsp container from apache and it is not being developed or maintained anymore. Tomcat is the new apache jsp container and it is activley develped (They release minor version very often).
    You can find more info on the tomcat documentation at
    http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat

    Hi,
    the demo is a WAR file. So if you have a tomcat version that supports JSF 1.2 then you should be able to deploy it like any other JEE WAR file
