Accidentally Deleted a Book

I accidentally deleted a book when I was trying to delete a page in it. Is there anyway to recover the book file. I still have all of the pictures, but I would rather not go back through all of the work or laying out hte photos and rewriting the text.

If you bought the book using iTunes, simply open the iTunes Store (in the iTunes application, there is no standalone iBooks app on Mac or Windows), click on 'Books' in the list of content areas, then click on 'Purchased' in the right hand column towards the bottom of the top section in the 'Books Quick Links'. You should then be able to see all the books you have purchased and redownload it by clicking the 'Download' button. You need to be signed into the iTunes Store with the Apple ID that you used to purchase the book.

Accidentally deleted address book

hi , am running leopard on a mac mini and accidentally deleted the address book program that was moved to the desktop from the applications folder and hiding behind the dock .
Time machine wasn't set up to backup any data yet , and i'm afraid the entire address book has been lost . Just before the trash was emptied , there were numerous updates performed thru software update , for the iwork and ilife suites , and the computer has been restarted one time . I had also reinstalled the 10.5.1 update . is there any way to retrieve the deleted address book without having to use 3rd party software like pacifist to pull a new copy of address book from the leopard install disc and rebuild it from scratch ?

Not that I know of.
However, you only lost the application.
You apparently did not loose all the information.
The information is located in Users/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder.
If that AddressBook folder is still there, then so is all of your information.

Accidentally deleted address book 'On My Mac'

I had brain **** yesterday and accidentally deleted the information for the address book account "On My Mac". I have scoured the web but cannot find a way to restore the account information.
The contact book is still working and I can create new entries for a Google address book that is still there. When I go to the Accounts and select 'On My Mac' it's empty. See below
Can anyone help to restore this default address book?

The On My Mac Address Book does not sync to anything. You can move items from the On My Mac Address Book to one of the Address Books like Google, iCloud, Yahoo, AOL.
Let's say you have an Exchange, iCloud, Google and Yahoo account and select to sync their Address Book with Contacts.app. While you would be able to see each listed they are independent and do not sync to the other address books. You can move items from one to another but they only sync to their respective Address Books.
I see one of your Google accounts is inactive. Select that account and enter your password or two-step authentication code.
If there are no contacts in On My Mac it won't show up. Apple chooses not to show items if there is nothing in them. For example in Mail, if you have no Draft messages you won't see a drafts folder until you actually save a message. Once it's added it will stay there even if there are not messages. Same for Flags, VIP, Spam etc.

Accidentally deleted Address Book App!!

Hello all,
As I was deleting some apps, apparently Address Book was selected inadvertently. As a result, I no longer have the application, and I really don't want to reinstall Leopard all over again.
Would someone be kind enough to either upload the Address Book app so I could download it, or email it to me? If the latter, contact me, and I will supply my email address.

Try using Pacifist to extract Address Book from the computer's original disks or Mac OS X 10.5 disk, and then run all Mac OS X updates you previously applied to that system.

Accidentally deleted book/album file... What data file is it stored in?

Hi. I accidentally deleted a book/album project from my iPhoto library. I've read through a few posts, and I understand that the book/album isn't a file in and of itself, but rather an entry in a data file.
Is there any way to restore to yesterday's version of this data file?
Which data file is that information stored in?
I'm looking for any help whatsoever in trying to recover this particular album/book. I'm pretty computer-savvy... Is there ANY way to recover/restore this data?

I don't, unfortunately. I clicked on a book and accidentally deleted it. It seems silly that there isn't any way to recover this information, since it took so long to create, and since it was so easily and accidentally deleted... I'm feeling hopeless. Any suggestions?

Deleted Address Book - HELP!

I accidentally deleted Address Book. I was moving it to my Dock and missed, so it went to the desktop, then I put it on the dock and deleted it from my desktop. Aparently, that was the program and not a duplicate. Is there any way I can download it or pull it off one of the installation CDs?

You should be able to load it from your installation DVD as one of the optional installations.

I get a dialog box when I try to delete a book.
And if you right click on the book in the left column you can duplicate it so you can have multiple versions.

Yes. This tutorial describes how to go about it: #9a - Archiving an iPhoto 7(08)/8(09)/9(11) Book for Editing and/or Ordering at a Later Date. For future books I suggest you start out with a new library and copy the needed photos to it from your current library with iPhoto Library Manager .

How to restore my deleted photo book?

Accidentally deleted my photo book under Keepsakes but there is no UNDO!
I can try using time machine but is there a faster easier way to get just the photo book I accidentally deleted. There was no UNDO key and there was nothing in the trash that looked like a photo book. Is there a place where that data is stored so I can restore it easily. Why is there no UNDO for that?

One way to recover some real estate on your boot drive is to use Monolingual to remove all of the unneeded language modules. Just do not remove English or American English. Also do not use any of the other features of Monolingual. I saved nearly 1 GB of space on my MBP the first time I ran it.
You can't restore to an external HD. You could copy your current library to the external, make sure it's operating, delete it from the boot drive, enter TM and restore the library to the boot drive. When you've finished with the book, follow the directions in Old Toad's Tutorial #9 - Archiving an iPhoto 6/7 Book for Ordering Copies at a Later Date or #9a - Archiving an iPhoto 7/8 Book for Use/Editing at a Later Date so you can cull down the library so it will fit on a DVD/CD for archiving. Then delete the library from the boot drive and move your working library back to the boot drive.

You'd need to do a full install of the OS, not an update. You can use recovery (Command + R keys) during boot up or restart. Your files will not be deleted (unless you choose to erase your drive) - but make sure you have a backup anyway. General info here:

Well, you might think that. But you would be wrong.
I'm not aware of any unix OS with an undelete function at the filesystem level.
Such things don't tend to work well in a multiuser/server environment where lots of things are writing to the disk in the background.
And trying to guess what the filesystem used to look like is a good way to court random file system corruption.
