Account scammed

I was talking to my friends on skype when suddenly went offline. I tried to log back in but it said the password is wrong. So I went to email and recovered the password. I log in this morning and I see my money is gone and some made calls to Russia. I only had 5 euros on skype, but still this was an account violation. Where can I get any help.

Hi, mmwarrior, and welcome to the Community,
First things, first: change your account password and your payment method account password immediately, if you have not already done so.  You may report the incident to Skype Customer Service: here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
I would also recommend performing a complete maintenance cycle on your computer, ensuring all updates are installed, including running your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware program using the most recent virus signature files available.
Regards,
Elaine

  • Reporting: Txt Message Phishing Accounts / Scam ac...

I don't know why on earth it's so hard to report suspected phishers/scammers (without credits on my account anymore I can no longer contact customer service).
    Anyway.
Some accounts are linked to some scam that sends SMS messages to people's phones, and has been associating individuals' names with their real phone numbers. The SMS messages ask the individuals to contact them on one of the following skype names.
    amanda.spencers
    Babbum8
    bam_25
    nikita_barnes
I'm not sure what happens if someone actually messages one of these accounts on Skype.

I got a similar text message yesterday:
"Hello <my name>! This is Jenny. Please add me on Skyype msgr so we can chat a bit, its: Bam_25"
The phone number listed as the source was 313-499-9157 though I assume that can be spoofed. I googled Bam_25 and came across this post.
While this doesn't necessarily indicate that my name and phone number was obtained via Skype, clearly this Bam_25 character (or someone that doesn't like him/her) is up to no good.

  • Recover account scam kill bill purchase ?

Had email apparently from apple asking me to recover my account re fraudulent kill bill purchase. Is this a scam ?

Ignore the email for the moment and launch iTunes on your Mac. Click on the App Store button, then the Account link. Enter your password if prompted. Check the list of purchases. If this item isn't in the list, then it's an elaborate email scam to get your App Store ID and password. If it really is there, then someone made the purchase on your account and you should change the account password immediately.
However, the Recover Account button makes no sense whatsoever. Right click on the button and choose the option to copy the link. Open TextEdit and paste the link. Does it go anywhere that sounds like it belongs to Apple, or is it suspicious? Also paste the link in a new post here.

First things, first: for your safety and protection, never, ever include personally identifiable information such as your e-mail address or a telephone number in any post on a public Community or forum such as this.

  • Why is it so difficult to CANCEL a subscription to AOLs cyber newspaper, "THE DAILY".  It appears to have been made very possible as a scam, so once you give them the automatic, weekly deduction to your credit card or bank account, it's non cancelable!

BEWARE:  if you subscribe to AOL'S cyber newspaper (for 99¢ per week),you will have to give them authorization to charge your account weekly vain iTunes/apple account or credit card or bank account.  Once you do that you have a better chance having a long phone chat with Oboma about all the people now on welfare, than getting someone to at AOL or APPLE to cancel your subscription.  You will get routed all around and put on hold and finally referred to a forum where this has been REPEATEDLY asking ...and, per APPLE, answered.  In fact, when you follow the APPLE given link (a live person at APPLE sends you the link by email but can not tell you what to do on the phone) ... And you go to the link, you will find ...as I did and others commented they did too...that the link suggestions do not work to allow younto cancel The Daily!   At this point younwill have over an hour, perhaps 2 (as in my case) invested and STILL NOT HAVE IT CANCELLED.
What incompetence by AOL and APPLE!   Or wait; do you really think this is made so complex, not by incompetence, but by design?
You mean you think AOL ...once the got your account debit authorization working, the want to make it nearly impossible for you to stop them from continuing to "milk the cow"?   They do have a dubious, to put it politely, record onmcustomer care (reason theynlost literally millions of paying "AOL Members" starting about mid 1990's ...and then making AOL free before ALL their "members left".)
Ok, so it is not hard to see AOL doing something like this.  I admit.  However, with ITunes participating in the billing for "the Daily. Onto your Aplle Account credit card or bank account, do you think the generally ethically run APPLE would participate in the AOL scam too?  Why can't or doesn't,t APPLEgive you a straight answer or take care of stopping the itunesnbilling for "The Daily"?  Thismismbad enoughmthat a forum has started on the question and APPLE refers youmto that NOT VERY HELPFUL, short, old forum discussion.
Is there a conspiracy here ... A scam?   Or, is there some logical and reasonable explanation?   Absent a such a good explanation, this is class action lawsuit material ...to recover all the amounts deducted from customers who wanted to cancel but did not have the time and endurance to figure out how to cancel.

Yoor post is very confusing. AOL's iPad magazine is called "Editions" and it's free. "The Daily" is put out by TheDailyHolding and is owned by Rupert Murdoch. You've already posted in another thread where the solution was given. Other people seem to have manged to get unsubscribed.
    Best of luck.

  • I recieved a scam email from apple. then sent me the same email using my own email account. how do I report this to apple. can't find any contact details.

hi over the past month have received maybe 5 scam emails from apple.
I opened one the other day cause I thought well maybe it is from apple.
went through the steps and it was  amazed at how well they did at copying apple website. you could even go to the apple shop page from their page!
what set me off that it was fake was that I tried to open the other apple pages along the top and it wouldn't let me. so I opened my own apple page and logged in. and realised that they don't ask for your bank details in your Apple ID account.
anyways so now what has happened is I got an email today " from myself" with this same scam email. it is as if they have hacked my email account and sending me these emails. I want to report this to apple but am unable to find any contact details apart from call back options. does any one have any advice on this.

I've had that same exact issue, I received the first e-mail claiming to be from Apple last night (though over the past week I've received two other scam e-mails from different addresses claiming that my bank transactions have been aborted). It said it was from my own address, and I checked it closely to make sure it wasn't a spoof account but found it was indeed my own e-mail address. Five minutes ago I changed my password, and I have just now received a second e-mail exactly the same, still coming from my own account. My best guess at an explanation is that it may have been sent before I changed my password and there was just a delay in the message sending, resulting in it coming through after changing my password.
I've now forwarded the e-mail on as an attachment to the [email protected] address, however this still doesn't help me with regards to stopping these e-mails. It concerns me that even though I changed my password they still possibly have access to my account. I tried checking my account activity but as opening the mail app on my iPhone is considered as a log in and I check it almost twice an hour, it's impossible to tell which could possible be an intruder logging in.

I have a one year old MacBook Pro, using Yosemite OS. In my Mac mail account I use gmail. I have recently been stung by an e- mail scam using WhatsApp. When I changed my password I was able to move on with mail on my phone and laptop. I now find that all the mails I sent yesterday have got stuck in my Outbox and have not actually been sent. i have since opened up my gmail account via Google and have pasted i the messages and successfully sent from there.
How can I now restore my Mac Mail on the laptop to send my mail?
I would interested to hear views.

    Hello Nicholas,
It sounds like you are suddenly unable to send email from the Mail app but can log into your webmail and send the emails without issue. I recommend you use the following article, to help figure out what the issue is, named:

  • "Confirm your account information within 24 hours"- Scam??

    Hey all,
I think it's definitely a phishing scam but just thought I'd see if any of you have come across the same email?
The sender is Apple Support with email address of '[email protected]', so makes it look quite legitimate.
And the link takes you to the below page with this URL:
    http://https.www.apple-id.com-update.account-webobjects.itunesconnect.gundich.ki ev.ua/
I reported this to [email protected] as well.
Anyone has received the same email??
    Cheers,
    Findgun

    Yes, it's a scam.
It's definitely spam and sending it directly to [email protected] was the right thing to do. Other users have posted similar spam.
Keep in mind, Apple will never send you an email asking to confirm your Apple ID and password.

  • HT1937 I have been asked by e-mail to verify my account details plus bank details is this the norm or just a scam?

  • Thunderbird sent out 100+ scam emails this morning from one of my Gmail accounts.

Thunderbird is my email software. It handles my email account from my ISP (used for private business), plus 2 other Gmail accounts one for family and one for the local camera club.
This morning, some 100+ spam email messages were sent from one of the Gmail accounts, but accessed the address book of all 3 email accounts - most of the names in each address book are only unique to one address book and not duplicated across the other address books.
I have Forefront, Karpersky and Norton running on the notebook, but nothing showing as a problem. And supposedly, Gmail is meant to scan emails before it delivers them.
The scam emails are all similar - one word in the subject, but with a space in the word (ie De livered), a one line message saying I sent you a message, please open it and then a link to open.
    Please help.

One anti virus is all any computer can cope with more simply means more false positive and more chance of none of them working.
Now you say Thunderbired sent these mails. Did a message come up when you started Thunderbird asking to send unsent mails (as would happen if they were added to it's outbox while it was closed.)
did you see anything saying Thunderbird was sending mail?
Or is the mail actually from some web site that your logged into using your, say facebook, credentials that has now spammed your contacts list bacause you allowed to list on that web site.
