Account  Territory = Opportunity Territory

Hi All,
We have the territory filled out on all our accounts. We want the the account territory value to be automatically populated in an opportunity that was created from the account page (or filled in once we choose an account in the opportunity).
It seems like this should work out of the box, but it doesn't and we cannot find any way to do it other than manually fill it out, which seems like a waste and annoys our users.
Is there any STANDARD way to do this, not requiring web services?

We are using the applications territories.
We are using assignment rules for accounts and in fact assign accounts automatically to a territory, but do not have a generic rule we can use for the opportunities.
It stands to reason (ours at least) that an opty linked to an account will be in the same territory as the account and therefore think there should be a way to carry the value over.

    I'm facing a couple of issues working with territory management:
    <1>  I understand that Account Search by territory id & desc are standard delivery from CRM 7.0. However, this is not working in my system. Searching on these fields returns 0 results even though we have accounts assigned to the territories. I've checked the table CRMD_TERR_ACCREL - it has the correct entries of territory-account relationships.
    <2>   The territory admin reports - namely "Accounts: No territories" and "Territories: No Employees" are not working. System throws an error "Selected Report does not exist". I implemented note 1320439 (which claims to solve this issue) but in vain.

    Hi Masood, thanks for your response. Here is the answer to your questions:
    Do you have an active rule for this territory ? - Yes
    Is the rule valid in terms of dates ? - Yes
    was the rule revised ? - Yes, but only for one of the territories
    Also check if the FM CRM_TERRMAN_SINGLE_READ_BUFFER returns your attributes if you execute it many times passing the territory id.
    - Yes, it returns the attribuites like rules for the territory, description, employees etc,. but not the accounts linked to it. Which structure would it get accounts in?

  • Account Search by Territory ID

    Hi,
    I have set up rule builder where one of the rule is account id. i have manually enter account ID in rule and activated . if i search that account id in territory search the node is showing in the result.
    but if i search the Account by territory id in Account Search page. the result is 0.
    what seems to be the link between Account assignment to territory node via rule builder and Territory ID search in Account Search page.
    In Account Search there is one more option of Territory is EMPTY. What configurations need to see the result?
    Does this mean that if Account is not assigned to any territory node, Territory is EMPTY should show that account?
    Please help.

    Hi Amish,
    Creating and activating the rules are only the definition of the rules. Once that is done, you have to run the
    report to generate the rules. The link is the report.
    In Territory search, when you search with an account, you get the result because the account is maintained
    in the territory as a rule definition.
    But in account search, if the report is not run, then it cannot find the territory to which it is attached as it doesn't
    know this detail. Account search identifies this information from the link rule table which will be populated
    only after running the report.
    The report that you need to run is CRM_TERRMAN_PROC_REL and the link table is CRMD_TERR_LINK.

  • Account Team - Opportunity Team

    Hi All,
    I would like to know the relationship between the Account and Opportunity Teams. Are the users in the Account Team automatically become members of the Opportunity Team? Also, if i removed a user from the Account Team, will that user will also be removed from the Opportunity Team?

    Hi,
    It depends on what kind of permission you give to the account team member using the field "Opportunity Access".
    If there is some access like Rad-only, full etc, the opportunity team by default inhertis account team whenever an opportunity is created.
    If there is no access "blank", then it doesn't inherit.
    After inherting, you can still remove the member @ opportunity level.
    But later if some one adds / modifies account team, then automatically all opportunity team members are synchronized again (removed user will reappear).
    But if there are some additional users added @ opportunity level but not present @ the account level, they are retained

  • JoinFieldValue Between account and opportunity

    Hi,
    I created two fields with the same name in account and opportunty :"number of building"
    The need is the following: two fields "number of building" in two objects (account and opportunity). The user will fill "number of building" in account and it must be automatically fill in "number of building" on the opportunity.
    I decided to create a JoinFieldValue in "number of building" opportunity field.
    JoinFieldValue('<Account>',[<AccountId>],'<iNombre_btiments_ITAG>')
    And I ticked the postdefault box.
    The issue is the following: when I fill the "number of building" in the account object, it doesn't fill automatically the "number of building" in the opportunity...
    Do I need to create a workflow?
    Can someonge help me on this issue?

    The solution you describe will work when a new Opportunity is created and associated to an existing Account which already has a value in this field.
    Keep in mind that default values only get addressed upon record creation - updating the record (or associated record) will do nothing.
    You can use workflow to update the field value later using a Before Modified Record Saved trigger event on Opportunity. In this scenario, every time the Opportunity is updated it could grab the field value from the related Account.
    What you CAN"T do is what you describe below - have an update on the Account record trigger a field update on a child record. Just doesn't work that way. Your only option would be web services.
    BTW - this is not an Analytics question, so you should post to the Administrator forum.

  • Territory not updated in Account even account data satisfy Territory Rule

    Hi,
    I am working on territory management and am able to successfully establish relationship between Accounts & Territory. I can see the terrtories to which account is assigned under 'Territories' assignment block on Account overview screen.
    But now if I create/ change any account data(which was not satisfying territory rule earlier) to match the territory rule, the territory is not updated even after running the report 'CRM_TERRMAN_PROC_REL'(delta).
    E.g. Suppose We a territory 'ABC' with territory Rule for all accounts as-  postal code between 20000 & 30000. and this rule is already released.
    Now when i create an account with postal code 20569(or change an existiong account with some other postal code to a number between 20000 & 30000), It should be assigned to this territory ABC. But this relationship is not established at all even after report 'CRM_TERRMAN_PROC_REL' is executed.
    Please suggest if need to implement any SAP Note or any configuration/customization is missing to achieve this functionalty.

    Please be advised that when territory rule contains sales area attributes, ONLY sales area relationships are build up an NO accounts relationships are built.
    To build up account relationship you need to use BP attributes in your rule, so please check that you have done this, and then run the report again.
    Account relationship will show all accounts that fall under thisterritory and it will not consider the sales area attribute, therefore
    it will not be filtered based on the sales area attribute that you mention.

  • Provide visibility of a parent account's opportunity to the children

    Is there any method or mechanism available to provide visibility of an opportunity created for a parent account to the children accounts?
    We have a scenario where opportunities will be created at the top level that we need to give those accounts below visibility.
    We hope to accomplish this within CRM on Demand using workflows, configuration, or perhaps javascripting.

    You can build a report, passing Parent Account Id as prompt and display report as related information, if you just want to display the parent opportunities.

  • Employee determination in an account from Territory.

    Hi everyone,
    We have a requirement in one of our projects where while we create an account, system should pick-up the employees for each of the relationship categories from "Territory Management". We have done this for Transactions but not for Master Data.
    Now, what we have done in the system for this is as follows:
    1. Created a rule for account (through which the territory would get determined- Based on the Postal code).
    2. Created a territory and assigned that rule and employee to it via position.
    3. Now, when I create a new account with the Postal code(as stated in rule) , after running a background Job(se38), executing program: CRM_TERRMAN_PROC_REL in the background, the territories are getting determined.
    4. But on the basis of the territory the employees are not getting determined in that account( as a relation ship category - Has employee as)
    I have 2 questions on this :
    1. Can we do some settings so that the territory gets determined while Creating an account without running a background job everytime?
    2. How do we determined the employees automatically while creating account using this territory?

  • Auto-Assigning an Opportunity based on Territory

    Hi All,
    I have written a WF that auto-assigns all new opportunities with specific values in the Territory field to a specific book. When I was building the rule it would not give me the available values to choose from, so I wrote it from scratch:
    [<Territory>]=LookupValue("Territory", "Americas")
    Did I get the syntax wrong or is it not possible to assign an opportunity to a book based on the Territory field?
    If anyone has another idea of how to do this, I am open to suggestions.

    That triggers whenever the territory field is changed from value "Americas" to something else. I have just tested it out and as of now (4/30/2008) that is how FieldValue functions.
    That being said, does anybody have a solution to the original problem.
    - Triggering a work flow rule when the territory (out of box read-only) field is a certain value.
    I have tried -
    [<Territory>] = LookupValue([<Territory>], "California")
    FieldValue('<Territory>') = "California"
    [<Territory>] = "California"
    [<Territory>] = 'California'
    None of these work.
    Some one more well versed in the arcane art of OD manipulation please shed some light on this.

  • Opportunity Report driven by account ownership

    I am trying to create a new homepage report so that a sales person can see all opportunities in their territory where either they own the opportunity or someone else does.
    The report is written off of the opportunities area, so the only value I have to drive the "accounts in my territory" decision off of is the owner field on the account which is in the format of firstname lastname.
    Is there a way useing nq_user to build this information ?

  • 12i territory access tables

    We're in the midst of an upgrade from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1 and are testing territory assignment process. Account entries for territory access were stored in AS_ACCESSESS_ALL_ALL in 11i. What happened to them in 12.1.1? I've tested real-time territory assignment in 12, and it appears to be working OK. I can see the resources being assigned to the party records using the Territory Managment forms, but if I look at AS_ACCESSES_ALL_ALL the new rows aren't there. We've got a lot of custom code that references this table, but if the rows are no longer stored there, I must change our custom code to point elsewhere.

    You can access data stored in SQL tables using Enterprise Manager or SQL Query Analyzer and you can do in every other database system such as DB2, Informix or Oracle; there are some well-known Cluster tables that information can only be read from inside SAP.

    Sales order is created in R/3 and replicated to CRM. Now, once it is replicated we want to have an automatic territory determination in CRM. Is it a standard feature?

    No, I don't think this is a standard feature, at least not till CRM 3.0.
    You had a question - how to replicate territory data from CRM to R/3. This won't be such a huge work.
    Simplest solution I can see is:
    Create four tables in R/3 to hold Territory data, territory hierarchy, BP-territory assignments & Employee-territory assignments. Create a program that will replicate corresponding CRM Online tables to these R/3 custom tables. You can run this job once a day.
    If you need territory info in R/3 updated real-time, then middleware will be involved. You will have to write code in four corresponding bdocs to send idocs as soon as a bdoc is being processed. Four relevent bdocs will be terr_write (for territory), terrhier_write (for territory hierarchy), capgen_object_write (for BP-territory assignments) and employee_write (for employee-territory assignments).

    Hello,
    We are implementing CRM 2007. The standard Authorization objects are CRM_TERRMA, CRM_TERRDY, & CRM_ORD_TE.
    Business requirement is as follows:
    ZIP codes 00000 - 20000 is assigned to Territory 'A'
    ZIP codes 20000 - 40000 is assigned to Territory 'B'
    Territory 'A' & 'B' falls under Sales manager 'X'
    Territory 'A' is assigned to 'Y'
    When user 'Y' logs in, he should be able to see only the sales orders he created, he should not be allowed to create/display/delete sales orders in Territory 'B'
    When user 'X' logs in, he should be able to create/change/display sales orders created by himself and user 'Y' because he is assigned to Territories 'A' & 'B'.
    Need help to know, to achieve this do we need to maintain any other authorization objects. What additional
    information do we need form CRM functional guys to fulfill this requirement?

  • Z-attributes in territory mgmt.

    Hello CRM experts,
    in our new project I face the following problem.
    I need to implement a z-assignment-block from a z-table to BP.
    Some of these z-fields should be territory relevant.
    I customized it in
    spro->Customer Relationship Management->Master Data->Territory Management->Territory Attributes->Maintain Territory Attributes
    and implemented the Badi CRM_TM_MASTER_DATA_NOTIFY_BP as well.
    The problem is when changing the value of the z-field and save
    the Badi Method IF_EX_CRM_TM_MASTER_NOTIFY_BP~IS_ATTR_ACTIVE_FOR_TM did't pass through.
    I realized by debugging that z-attributes from z-tables won't be recorded in the table CRMD_TERRMAN_LOG
    (see class CL_CRM_TERRMAN_LOG_API=>WRITE) just attributes from but000 or adressdata (see ZCL_CRM_TERRMAN_NOTIFY_REPOS=>LOG_BP_HEADER_CHANGES
    and ZCL_CRM_TERRMAN_NOTIFY_REPOS=>LOG_BP_ADDRESS_CHANGES.
    Any idea to record ?

    If you need to trigger the BADI while saving the zblock values, you should ideally follow this steps. I had to approach this process to trigger some badi which we needed to hit upon clicking some button...
    1. First find out the fields on change of which the BADI gets triggered .. check the standard transactions
    2. Then find out the standard bol entity-attribute which has those fields
    3. then while saving the zblock, add some code so that you change some dummy values in those standard entity which you have find out it step 1 and 2. (any single field modification will do, if its correct field)
    4. then do a bol core modify and your badi will get triggered.
    *generally the reason for badi trigger is change in some relevant fields which triggers the badi, so you have to change something in the standard entity level of those fields..you have to find out some fields which by changing won't create any issue with your process...

    Currently, I have a report under Opportunity history where the following fields are being shown:
    - Account's Country
    - Opportunity Owner (Owned By User - gives me the full name)
    - Account Name
    - Opportunity Name
    - Metrics field (Revenue, Volume. etc.)
    - Close Date
    - some custom fields
    The users want to see the Account Owner so I added this field but it's showing the owner's alias. My question is, in using the "Combine with Similar Analysis", can I display all the values retrieved by the Opportunity report and get the value of 'Owned By User' in the Account report?
    I have tried combining the two reports but the values are derived from the driving report which is Opportunity. How can I get the value/format of the field in the Account report?
