ACE: Virtual Server (VMWARE) running on ACE

Hello,
I have 2 servers to do loadbalance. they are running VMWARE, they have 4 servers inside of real server. each vmware server only has 1 port connected to Switch, if I want to balance one of them? how do I do?
Best Regards

It shouldn't make any difference whether the servers are real or virtual. The ACE works on IP addresses and VLANs. How you configure the context will depend on your network. You may need to use source NAT or you might be able to just use the network as is. It all depends on how you have configured your network.
You'll need to balance across real physical servers to maximise resilience though.

  • DBMS_SCHEDULER OPERATION GETS ORA-2800 ON A VIRTUAL SERVER (VMWARE)

    Hi everyone,
    We just installed Oracle 11G on a VM machine (VMWARE).
    When I try to run a job (any job) in Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control, I receive this error:
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-02800: Requests timed out ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_ISCHED", line 154 ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SCHEDULER", line 450 ORA-06512: at line 2
    Don't know if it is related to the virtual env. or not.
    I search these error in any log file under the ORACLE_BASE folder but found nothing.
    Can someone shed some light on this?

    It is apprently not an Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control problem.

  • Need to know if Firefox 6 is compatible with Citrix XenApp Server 6 running on Windows Serve r2008 R2 virtualized on a VMWare environment. Thanks in advance!

    We are setting up a new environment for a client based on Citrix XenApp Server 6 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 which is virtualized on a VMWare hypervisor. Client uses Firefox and we need to know if it is going to work or not. If not, what is the root cause (i.e. XenApp, Windows Server 2008 R2, virtualization).
    Thanks again! :)

    I only ask because, in the past we were able to install a related product, InDesign CS5 in Citrix. In fact, Adobe had published documentation for doing exactly that: here. I just haven't seen anything similar for Illustrator CS6 and wanted to check.

  • Hyper-V Question -- Running Hyper-V or VMWare on a Windows Virtual Server

    So my research tells me there likely is not a way to do this, but I think someone must have run into it before or there has been a previous need.
    We have recently had two Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard virtual machines created for our use in our data center.  We are using them to run a series of web scanning and monitoring tools.  We want to run these tools within various Windows OS environments
    with different combinations of browsers/applications/etc, making VMs the obvious way to go (preferably multiple VMs per virtual server).  I don't know much about the virtual data center here, but when I try to enable Hyper-V, the system tells me it is
    running and cannot run within itself.  Likewise, if I try to install VMWare, it tells me it is not compatible with Hyper-V.
    This may be akin to asking for Inception, but is there a way around it?  Does anyone know of a way to run a VM inside a virtual server, or does anyone see an alternate solution?  So far the only one I've come up with is to requisition physical
    servers, install Windows Server 2012 on each, and then use a single level of either Hyper-V or VMWare to create the virtual machines we need.
    Any information is greatly appreciated.

    I think you might be missing something here.
    You have Server Standard installed on the Bare metal.  Then you add the Hyper-V Role.  Then you open the Hyper-V Management Console and you begin creating VMs.
    You do not add the Hyper-V Role within a virtual machine (VM).
    The same process goes for VMware (ESX) - You install ESX on the bare metal, then you open the manager and you create VMs.
    Now, if all you have are two VMs (which your first statement sounds like) you cannot enable Hyper-V in the VMs and then run nested VMs in that VM.  This just does not work today.
    XenServer can do this in a real way, but only with x86 paravirtualized Linux machines.  And ESX can do this with some very specific emulation settings - and at that your eyes probably just glazed over.
    To do this right, you need the physical machines.

  • VMWare: 1 Oracle installation per virtual server, or 1 separate install

    The scenario is that we are going to put our support benches on VMware.
    The question is: should we have 1 oracle installation per virtual server or a separate virtual server for oracle.
    If we go for the 1 oracle installation per virtual server, this mimics our customer environment.
    If we install oracle separately, then we have to run two virtual machines. One for Oracle(with one instance per customer) and one for the Product which connects to the appropriate instance.
    Looking at it I'm inclined to go for the 1 orcale installation per virtual server, as this will allow for easier maintenance and upgrade paths.
    Apart form disk space , are there any other drawbacks?
    Are there any advantages to having oracle on a separate virtual machine?

    VMWare is not supported for Oracle, so if this is to mimic a customer environment, then you should be aware of this. In my personal experience I have not seen any noticeable difference from the testing and learning point of view.
    Installing Oracle on VMWare at the end of the day will consume the resources of the server where the VM is hosted, so it is all up to the CPU and memory resources you have in your host server. A drawback is the hard disk speed, the lower the more noticeable performance reduction, so be aware of this. It is advisable, you should make sure you have installed the VMWare tools.

  • Getting Windows Server 2008 to Create a Virtual Machine to Run Windows 8.1 Is Easy -- Not So Getting Windows Server 2012 To Do So

    I spent an entire work day trying to configure HYPER-V on Windows 2012 R2 Server to run Windows 8.1 in a virtual operating system. Gave up entirely on Windows 2012 R2 Server since no matter how I changed the memory configuration, it insisted there was
    too little memory available to perform bootstrap and initialization of the Windows 2012 R2 Server / Windows 8.1 combination. In vivid contrast, getting Windows 8.1 installed and operational under HYPER-V running on Windows 2008 Server is a snap. No whining
    from HYPER-V about a purported lack of memory. The machine has 2GB of main memory and nothing much running on it besides HYPER-V.  This situation is, of course, all my fault.
    MARK D ROCKMAN

    Hi Sir ,
    Personally , 2 GB for 2012R2 host and a windows8.1 VM is a little low .
    Also the memory consumption is different between 2012R2 and 2008 .
    I would suggest you run RAMmap.exe to check the free space , then you may see how many RAM can be used :
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/ff700229.aspx
    By the way , win8.1 is not in the
    supported guest OS list of 2008 hyper-v server .

  • Getting Virtual Server ID within OS running on guest VM

    Hi,
    If I login to OVM Manager and look at the info that is shown for a Virtual Server (under the info tab), there is a ID field.
    I want to get this ID from within the OS running on one of the guest VMs. Could you let me know how can this be done? Which command can I use?
    Regards,
    Vinay

    I have never installed the EM agent on Dom0. I always taken the approah of install in the EM agent on the guest and then attaching the VM Manager to EM. Thus, you get the performance stats of the guest themselves and the performance stats of the VM Servers themselves. I know it works. I'm doing it now. I do have collect issues from time to time and its more prevalent on some hardware than it is others.

  • Can CUCM 8.5 version be installed on a DL 380 G5 server in Virtual environment (Vmware Esxi 4.0 or 4.1)? Or does it have to be only installed in UCS boxes for VMware?

    Can CUCM 8.5 version be installed on a DL 380 G5 server in Virtual environment (Vmware Esxi 4.0 or 4.1)? Or does it have to be only installed in UCS boxes for VMware?
    1. If the installation is possible for the Vmware instance on a DL 380 G5/G6 server , will that be supported by Cisco ?
    Similary is the case with CUIC 8.5. Has anybody worked on these do suggest ideas.

    Virtualized UC applications from Cisco are only supported on the UC on UCS platform using ESXi 4.0, 4.0 Update 1, or 4.1 - hypervisor support may vary based on application.

  • The server is running low on virtual memory.

    When running a sheet in discoverer I am getting the following error after around 10 mins
    The server is running low on virtual memory. This can happen due to insufficient disk space or heap space on the server. Please contact your Discoverer Administrator for assistance.
    I have changed the following settings to
    maxvirtualdiskmem = 4096000000
    maxvirtualheapmem = 4096000000
    The query returns 625500 records with parameters selected
    and 834360 records without any parameters set
    Can anyone help

    Memory usage is going to depend on several things. While rows returned is part of it, other things like sorts, calculations, page items and report type can have a huge impact. Out of curiosity, is the report a crosstab? are there a lot of sorts, of some complex calculations?
    How many users are accessing Disco at the same time, and is there anything else on the same box as Disco?
    Also, after you changed the settings (and I am assuming the change was made to pref.txt), did you run applypreferences.sh and then bounce the app server? If not, the changes have not taken place.

  • SBO running on virtual server

    Hi All
    One of our clients is implementing virtual server , currently they are running on a x86 2003 OS machine.
    Here is the question.
    I am virtualizing 3 new servers, one for SAP, one for CRM and one that will be my SQL processing machine. My question goes as follows: our SAP is currently running on 32-bit SQL 2005, would I still need to keep the SQL version as 2005, or would we easily be able to move it to SQL 2008 64-bit (bearing in mind that my virtual SQL machine is Windows Server 2008 64-bit)?

  • Running OEID on a virtual server

    Hi,
    Has anyone tried running OEID on a virtual server?
    If so, could you let me know what your experience was like?
    We are in the middle of changing over to new servers and was wondering what the feasibility of using virtual servers were.
    Thanks,

    Whilst not directly answering your question, I wanted to make sure that you are aware of Endeca Information Discovery VM appliance http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/endeca/downloads/eid-vm-1968135.html  .
    It's an all-in-one image for testing-purposed only and not for production, but it may help you with your evaluation.

  • Can I use the search engine and run a web application under the same iPlanet 6.0 virtual server?

    I've got an iPlanet 6.0 SP2 virtual server with the search engine enabled, which was tested and working. I then deployed a web application to it (mapped to "/"), and the web application works fine but now the search functionality is completely broken. Browsing to /search results in a directory index being displayed. Is there some trick to getting the two working together? I tried shuffling NameTrans directives around, but can only get either the search or the web app working, not both.

    Ok, I'm going to answer my own question now...
    The issue has been resolved after some additional experimentation on my part. There were two causes for my problem:
    1. The NameTrans directives in obj.conf are in the wrong order when Java and Search are enabled from the administration interface.
    Here's the admin server generated obj.conf I started with initially, when the web application was working, but requests to the URI "/search" returning a 404 error:
    <Object name="default">
    NameTrans fn="NSServletNameTrans" name="servlet"
    NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/search-ui" dir="/usr/local/iWS-6.0/plugins/search/ui" name="es-internal"
    NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/mc-icons" dir="/usr/local/iWS-6.0/ns-icons" name="es-internal"
    NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/manual" dir="/usr/local/iWS-6.0/manual/https" name="es-internal"
    NameTrans fn="es-search-nametrans" from="/search"
    NameTrans fn="NSServletNameTrans" name="servlet"
    NameTrans fn="document-root" root="$docroot"
    </Object>
    Here's my obj.conf now, which works perfectly:
    <Object name="default">
    NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/search-ui" dir="/usr/local/iWS-6.0/plugins/search/ui" name="es-internal"
    NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/mc-icons" dir="/usr/local/iWS-6.0/ns-icons" name="es-internal"
    NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/manual" dir="/usr/local/iWS-6.0/manual/https" name="es-internal"
    NameTrans fn="es-search-nametrans" from="/search"
    NameTrans fn="NSServletNameTrans" name="servlet"
    NameTrans fn="document-root" root="$docroot"
    </Object>
    The "servlet" NameTrans directive needs to go below all others which map a URI to a function or directory (but before "document-root"), or they break. This is consistent with the iPlanet documentation on NameTrans, but the admin server doesn't get it right!
    2. The developer who wrote the web application uploaded a directory named "search" in the root of his application, which caused the server to display a directory index of "/search", instead of executing the search function. I believe this issue is covered in an iPlanet knowledge base article.

  • Business connector on Virtual Server

    Hi All,
    I need a urgent help to know, if there are any disadvantages if we setup a Business connector environment in Virtual Server rather than a Physical server?
    The situation is, currently I have business connector working on Physical server, for which a Warranty is reach end of life and no further support to the hardware is possible from the mother company.
    Hence we have a plan of moving the Business connector in the physical server to a new virtual server provided by our infrastructure team as virtual servers are less costlier than physical server. Hence I would like to know how good to choose Virtual Server for business connector.
    Also, do any one can suggest what is the best way of approach would be, to move the existing Business connector server operations to new hardware i.e. is it fine to do pure system copy and will it work? or else do I need to redo from installing the BC software and configuring it manually.
    Thanks,
    Bindu

    Hi Bindu,
    we are running all of our BC servers on VMWare images. Works perfectly. You are better off installing the BC from scratch and remember if you are installing it onto Windows XP or alike you should select the Windows 2000 compatibility mode both for installation as well as when running it. This will allow it to run just fine.
    Be aware that BC 4.8 is due to be released soon and that will give you a supported, JVM updated version of BC for Windows and Linux. Currently all JVM versions are un-supported for previous BC versions.
    If you use the same name and IP for your virtual server than what you had for the previous physical server you should not see any changes in your configs. Again, we have moved these from physical to virtual doing just that and it all worked well.
    If you don't care about support at this point in time then you can also run the whole lot on a newer JVM, though if this is feasible or necessary is up to you.
    Cheers
    Kalle

  • Real server to access a different Virtual server in same context ??

    Hi all,
    I got a scenario need to clarified before go to production. Below is my traffic explaination
    SETUP
    Context WEB -1st Virtual server (10.10.10.1) - > bind 2 Real Server ( 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.2) ->sticky configured
    Context WEB - 2nd Virtual server (20.20.20.1) - > bind 2 Real Server (2.2.2.1 and 2.2.2.2) ->sticky configured
    My question is
    User will HIT 10.10.10.1 and load balance to RS 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.2, RS 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.2 will need to go destination 20.20.20.1 and ACE load balance to 2.2.2.1 and 2.2.2.2.
    Will RS1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.2 success HIT 20.20.20.1 and ACE can load balace to 2.2.2.1 and 2.2.2.2 and response to RS1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.2?
    Any comment is welcome !!!
    Thank you,
    Meng Kiat

    Hi Meng,
    It is possible. You need to apply the Virtual server (20.20.20.1) policy to the server side Vlan interface.
    That way server ( 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.2) can hit virtual server (20.20.20.1)
    This should work just fine without any trouble.
    regards,
    Ajay Kumar.
