Acessing objects created by another java program

ok ill give a higher level view of the problem.....
i think this is a fundamental problem
I have 3 java programms which take information and store it. all the type of information is the same so I created a class DataStructure....just to store information. this class i put in a package DataStruts and i call the class in the java programs by " import DataStruts.* ; "
In the java prog. i create instances of DataStructure like
eds = new DataStructure();
in the first java prog i create an instance "eds", in 2nd "ads" and in third "pds".
now in third prog i want to print all the information so i try to retrieve the data stored in the objects "eds" and "ads" by the previous 2 java programs.
however the third prog does not recognise the variables eds and ads. i think this is because their instances have been created by the first 2 java programs.
how do i make these instances of DataStructure available to the last program.??plese let me know.
thankyou in advance.

Can someone help me make the connection between the
statements
I thought a class's public methods were available
to any other class that has access to the first
class.
and
They are, but only to code running in the same
VM.
The first means that when you're writing a program, if class Foo has a bar() method that's declared public, then the compiler will allow you to call bar() on an in instance of a Foo. That's all it means.
The second means that if I start two different VMs (two separate Java program's) the publicness that made it legal to call Foo's bar() doesn't automagically give the first program a way to know about or see or call a Foo's bar() in the second one.

  • How to compile and run a .java file from another java program

    hello,
    can any one tell me how to compile and run a *.java* file from another java program which is not in same directory?

    Well a smarter way of implementing this is by using a solution provided by Java Itself.
    If you are using J2SE 6.0+ there is an in built solution provided along with JDK itself and inorder to go ahead with solution the below are set of API which you;d be using it for compiling Java Programs (Files)
    http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/tools/package-summary.html
    How do i do that ??
    Check out the below articles which would help you of how to do that
    http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-jcomp/index.html
    http://www.javabeat.net/javabeat/java6/articles/java_6_0_compiler_api_1.php
    http://books.google.com/books?id=WVbpv8SQpkEC&pg=PA155&lpg=PA155&dq=%22javax+tools%22+compiling+java+file&source=web&ots=XOt0siYe-f&sig=HH27ovuwvJgklIf8omTykUmy-eM
    Now once we are done with compilation.In order to run a Specific class all you ought to do is create an object and its specific methods of a specified class included in the CLASSPATH which you can manage it easily by usage little bit reflections.
    Hope that might help :)

    How to do it??
    Any example??
    Thanks a lot!!

    Sorry, I think i did not express cearly. It is my fault.
    I re-write my requirements again:
    I have
    Class AAA1.java,
    Class AAA2.java,
    Class AAA3.java,
    Class AAA20.java...
    etc
    they all look like the program I posted first time,, once executed, they will run for ever, and they will be stopped until I press CRTL + C;
    Now I hope to use another java class StopProgram.java to stop them 1 by 1 or at once instead of pressing CRTL + C;
    In this case, how to code this StopProgram.java ??
    Thanks

  • How to create reports for java programs?

    Hi,
    I have planned to do a project using java,that will help to create reports for java programs. To create reports for java programs i used two options.
    1)Crystal reports
    2)Write the code to produce reports for each java programs
    The second one little cumbersome.SO i planned to develop a software that is compatible for creating java reports.
    I would like to know how i will do the project?Can you help me to made it a successful project.Hope you can help me.
    Expecting your reply
    PreethiRenjith

    Uggg... Crystal reports...
    I would personally write a generic report generator, It would probably be easier than fighting w/
    crystal reports (CR is popular, but painful :) )
    Anyhow, I've written report generators for many different applications. It is one of the simplest projects you
    can take on, and the results make you feel special --
    If your need nicely formated, portable, printable reports, you could have your report generator make PDF files (the format is open, and VERY simple, plus people like pdf files) you can get the pdf spec from adobe or from wotsit.org (the famous wotsit file format archive).
    enjoy!

  • Is there any way to check another Java program running status?

    HI. I want to write a Java program on hand-set but my program seems needs lots of resources and if there is another Java program running on the same hand-set simultaneously, my program will slow down. So, I want to check if there is another Java program is running on the hand-set, my program will show a message to user reminding user to close another program first.
    Is there any way to do so?

    On most recent devices, the application is not terminated but paused by using phone functions, and can be reactivated from the aplication management software. The javax.microedition.midlet package documentation is quite specific, if a tad obscure, about the MIDlet lifecycle and the role of the MIDelt methods vis-a-vis the AMS.
    {color:#0000ff}http://java.sun.com/javame/reference/apis/jsr037/javax/microedition/midlet/package-summary.html{color}
    Parenthetically, I've never been able to figure out how resumeApp should be used, nor have I seen this method invoked in any of the samples that come with the WTK, but I haven't gone through all of them.
    I believe the still-in-progress MIDP3 will make it possible to have MIDlets that share the screen with native apps and which can be minimized and restored.

  • How a java program accessable by another java program?

    Dear all,
    Iam had developed a program which talks to serial port. This program should be intergrated with another main java program . I don't want a function (subroutine )call to my program. i want any other methods to access my program by main java program , which should be fast.

    You could serach for "interprocess communication". The main techniques available are pipes and share memory. This means that the two Java programs run as totally separated processes.
    An easier way is to restructure the "serial port talking" program into a "utility package with an API" and integrate it with the "main" program. You could let the "serial port talker" run in it's own thread thus creating an illusion of total independency from "main".

  • How do I establish a connection to another Java program on the net?

    Hi all,
    I have been reading the java tutorial to find a solution to my problem but I havent really found what Im looking for.
    I want to establish a connection that allows a client to get a copy of an object from a running java-application on a server on the internet.
    I have read about the Socket-class but the tutoral advices only to use it on a locale network. I know IDL and RMI only by name - is this what I should be reading about?
    If one of you guys have a source-code example on how to make java programs communicate over the net, please post it!
    Regards Albert

    Assuming this is "wide area" stuff, not just on a local area network, your best bet is to stick to http connections. You need a web server, probably Tomcat.
    Your client can connect using URL.openConnection().
    As to protocols you could use SOAP. It has the advantage that you can get the code for it for free, but it can be pretty complicated to configure. In particular it only knows how to transmit a limited set of object types and if you want to go beyond them you have to write converters. SOAP servers typically run under an web server anyway. SOAP converts all the data to XML for transmission.
    However it may be simpler to use Java's built in serialisation facility and send your data as an ObjectStream.
    In the set up you're talking about the message going to the server seems a lot simpler than the response. It may make sense to send your data as normal keyword parameters of a POST transaction but to have the server respond with an Object stream. That's well within the normal operation of a web server.

  • Creating a  a java Program which Displays a POP UP in a JSF Web Page!

    Hi Folks,
    I wrote a java program which checks the user credentials against the Active Directory, and if it exists displays a URL (of Web Application) with useri nfo filled automatically in the page deployed on Tomcat ver 6.x.
    Now My Problem is just that I have a Pop up in the User Login page which has 3 buttons and according to that the Logic ,Navigation flows. Earlier i was just filling the info directly from Active Directory and Landed into the User Info Page. But now the functionality has changed so I have to modify it. I am not able to find how to Display the Pop up. in that page.
    If anybody can help me with that I would be really greatful.
    Thanks in Advance ,
    Somil

    Thank you for the quick response George. I guess a better way communicate what I need to accomplish is "how"
    I went to the toolbar on the right, then "javascript", then "Document Java Scripts". That opened a window that had me name the script, then add it, then put in the scripting (see below). I do not know how to "place it in a document-level JavaScript (outside of a function definition) or in the initial page's Page Open event."
    This is the script I am attempting to use.
    var message = "When you have completed filling out the Tax Organizer, click on the purple "SUBMIT" button at the top of the page. This will automaticall submit your Tax Organizer for you. Be sure to print a copy for your files"
    app.alert(msg,3);
    If you could provide some step by steps that would be super.
    I am wanting this pop-up box to open and the client will have to then click on the "ok" button to make it dissapear so that they can then fill out the PDF.
    The "Submit" button is auto created for me when I choose to distribute the form, I am unaware of any way to move it.
    I feel that my issue is a elementary one, I am currently working through the Adobe Classroom in a Book lessons as all my acrobat skills have been self taught.

  • Obtaining a reference to an object created in another page

    Hello, In my webapp, i have a controller servlet which delegates the task to appropriate handler classes. My handler class performs the database access, then packages the result set object into a vector. I then create a new object of a javabean with a setPost() method which houses the output. My question is after this is done i forward control to the appropriate jsp for display. But how can i reference the object created in the page before. Will the request.setAttribute() method work for passing the reference to the object, to that jsp page? In other words i just want to access an object created in a different sevlet. Any help would be much appreciated
    thanks
    Gabriel

    Hi
    Yes, if you set the attribute, in this case the Java Bean in the request, it will be available in the JSP to where the request has been forwarded. Note however that the Object's lifetime is limited by that of the request. For Objects which need longer lifetimes you could place them either in the session or the ServletContext. The latter case will give the Object application wide scope and also a lifetime limited only by the lifetime of the application.
    Good Luck!

  • Creating an executable java program

    hello every body
    i have finished my java program
    and i want to ask if there is some software that create a .exe of your project or make your projecte installable.
    for the moment i use javaexe but it's not really good
    do someone have an idea.

    That's the question most people ask.Actually this
    proccess is againts the goal of java for being a
    platform independent programing lang,That's an urban legend I haven't heard in a while -:)
    How can the generation of a native executable out of a Java source be against the goals of Java? Has the source code been contaminated in any way in the process? Is it now less portable than before? The native executable itself isn't portable of course but that's kind of the point of producing one, and it doesn't restrict the portability of the program itself.

  • Please help with executing a java program from another java program

    Hi, I have tried to execute a very simple java program which is printed out "Hello world" from another java gui program when the user click on the "START" button. However, I don't receive any print out on the terminal when they click it. These two programs are being developed in Unix environment. Here is the code that I am trying to use.
    Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
    r.exec("java HelloWorld");
    p.s. HelloWorld is java class of the HelloWorld.java

    I think you have to luanch your MS Prompt first before executing the command.

  • Is it possible to have one java GUI program run  from another Java program

    If it is possible let me know and if you could write some code that would be greatly appreciated.
    Frank

    hm ... what will happen, if one of these applications
    invoke System.exit(...)?- The JVM starts its shut down
    sequence and both applications will shut down this
    way.You're right. If you don't want that - or you can't rely on the behaviour of the second app - you have to start another VM in a separate process calling Runtime.exec().
    If you only want to "use" the second app from the first one (and you have the sources) you can write a method like main() which do not call System.exit() at the end.
