Acrobat 4.0 Error

A user here has Acrobat 4.0 installed. When he opens Outlook (2002), he gets an error message stating that the Acrobat PDF Maker add-in he's using is known to cause instabilities in Word 2002. It suggests getting an update. Is there an update that fixes this instability available? Or do we need to buy a newer version of Acrobat?

You can try the updater found at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/../pub/adobe/acrobat/win/4.x/updaters/. Other than that, you may need to upgrade.

I have received a PDF which prints fine in Windows 7 but with Windows XP I get "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem." and a blank piece of paper passes through the printer. I appreciate that Windows XP is no longer supported but I would like to think that the solution to this problem is not too difficult!
    I have tried Acrobat 9, 10 and 11.
Any advice (apart from use Windows 7! ) would be most welcome.
    Many thanks.

If you use the same Adobe Reader versions with the same PDF on Windows 7 and XP, then I would expect the outcome to be the same.
Is this a local or online PDF?
If local, is the file really exactly the same?
    If online, in what browser?

  • Adobe Acrobat gives an error message "The key file is missing, canceled"

    Hi,
Adobe Acrobat gives an error message "The key file is missing, canceled" this is a direct translation of the Finnish error message. Acrobat is already re-installed. The operating system is Windows Server 2008 R2, and there is also installed Adobe Reader X.
    BR
    Heikki

Please let us know do you see this error on every launch of Acrobat?
Recommended is to have latest version of Acrobat and Reader. i.e. 10.1.8
Try updating application and then see if you still encounter the error.

Must have been a font or something causing the problems, as opening in safe mode allowed the software to install correctly.

  • Acrobat 9. Error 14

    Acrobat 9. Error 14
I had my computer crash and apparently corrupt a 363 page PDF manual. When I tried to modify and save it, I got the infamous Error 14, can’t save this file, problem reading the document. I could not copy old buttons or install new buttons, but I found several invisible buttons with no properties that I didn’t install. I could not delete or modify the invisible buttons. I tried deleting the offending pages and saving the file but I had the same problem. I then unchecked the auto saves and optimizes document settings and was able to save the file. But I still had the same problem with the buttons. In desperation I selected the combine file and selected the existing file and combined to a new file. Voilà! Everything started working again. Can anyone tell what they think happened.
    Thanks

The pdf file suffered from directory errors from the hard disk crash. While the pdf file you now have appears to work, it might be a good idea to retrieve the original pdf from a backup.

Douvaine, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader are 2 different applications. In which application are your getting this error 93:8?
93:8 denotes that your serial number is invalid. Please type the serial key again and check.

After renaming my MAC hard drive, Acrobat, Illustrator and Bridge fail to launch. Acrobat returns the error message "An internal error occurred". I've checked this out and it seems related to user permissions. The version is Acrobat X. My machine has multiple user accounts. Any help would be appreciated. I renamed the drive to its original name but to no effect. RR

    I resolved the issue.
The problem is indeed a permissions issue with the Adobe Application Support folder.
First, in MAC OS Lion the ~/Library/ folder is hidden by default. You must unhide it in order to proceed. (if it is already visible in your ~/User/ folder, proceed to Step 4.)
    Next launch the Terminal application.
At the command line, paste the following command line: chflags nohidden ~/Library/
    Go to /Users/youruserid/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Get info on the ~/Adobe folder and reset your permissions to read/write and apply to all enclosed folders
    Problem solved. RR

  • SERIOUS ADOBE ACROBAT PROFESSIONAL 8 ERROR

    Hi
I am using (or TRYING to use!) Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.
But every time it loads up I receive the following pop-up message:
"A serious error has been detected and Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot continue. Please re-install the application and try again."
I click OK, and then another message appears:
    "Acrobat.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x05bf1243" referenced memory at "0x12284e88". The memory could not be "written".
Click on OK to terminate the program"
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing but the error comes back!
What can I do?? Can ANYONE help?!!

I've been watching this thread hoping to find an answer to nearly the same issue... "Acrobat Cannot Continue At This Time Until You Open Photoshop" (?)
It doesn't matter which application I open... Acrobat is worhtless and closes in roughly 5 seconds. Hard to believe Adobe's been unable to duplicate this in-house? Now I'm afraid to uninstall it and reinstall ver. 7. I already had to FORMAT my Vista install and deal with Microsoft requiring personal information before allowing me to authorize my copy of Vista Ultimate a second time, just to get Photoshop CS3 installed on my PC following the beta fiasco.
And to think I installed Vista in the first place because I wanted to be able to use Bridge 2.0....
Jeff, why couldn't there have been a list of files and registry entries to be removed posted? Some sort of procedure to help out those of us that didn't install the Photoshop beta to the default drive or directory? The WinClean tool did NOT work for me, (or several others I'm aware of).
As it looks, the same thing is happening now with Acrobat 8. Those of us with problems are out of luck after spending a lot of money on a productivity suite of tools. After all the problems I had with getting Photoshop CS3 on my computer from Creative Suite, I installed it from a stand-alone version before installing the rest of the suite to gain use of Dreamweaver, etc., (which ALSO crashes my entire system every 2nd or 3rd time I use it!).
I don't mean to be ragging on it, but I am a bit confused after using Adobe products for as long as they've been around...
    Thanks.

  • Acrobat Quit Unexpectedly error message on MacBook Pro after purchasing and downloading.  How do I get it to run??

I just purchased the Acrobat XI Pro Subscription online.  After downloading the software and receiving the message that the installation was complete I tried to open the software to no avail.  It starts to open with a "please wait while we launch Acrobat..." screen, then I get an error message "Acrobat Quit Unexpectedly"  with options to Ignor, Report, or Reopen.  I've sent the report, but no matter how many times I try the 'Reopen' or 'Ignore' options the software will not open.  I'm running a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X version 10.7.5.
Any suggestions on how to get the software to work.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Ron,
Please try the steps below and let me know if it worked for you.
Delete all the files from following folders:
    [Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore
    [Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLCache
And, delete all files from following folder except cache.db
    [Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AdobePCD
Then launch Acrobat and try to activate and check.
