Acrobat 9.1.2 and Thunderbird

I've searched the forums for an answer to getting Acrobat 9 to use Thunderbird as it's email client. Doesn't seem to be any real answers. However, I have a slightly new problem with this. I've done what needs to be done to make Thunderbird the default program. Even went into my registry to confirm. However, every time I try to send a document off, it keeps telling me that it can't open Eudora. Now, Eudora USED to be my default mail, but like I said, I've changed that. Not only did I change the default, but I even deleted the program, and even went as far as to go into my registry to remove it from my Client\Mail section. Acrobat still is asking for Eudora even though it's completely gone. Is there an option I need to address in Acrobat to stop it from looking for Eudora? The error message says it can't access C:\Eudora\Eudora.exe. Duhh, it's not even on my computer any more.

Windows 7 64 Pro, Thunderbird 7.0 (updated recently) : the "publish form" is completely bugged.
Before reading solutions here : can't find mail program error messages (can't find my adress book in TB)
After applying the fix : set the by default programm forced on Thunderbird -> http://forums.adobe.com/message/3610561#3610561
Acrobat "resolves mail adress", then the submit button make a small dialog box appear (can't read anything in it). Nothing happens.
I can click and re-click several times, same "empty" or "not displaying a message long enough" dialog box keeps appearing. No forms sent whatsoever.
This is critical. I'm an ACI. I must set up a special training for one of our customers, about delivering forms. Ok, that issue is on my personnal computer, so far.
I may need to fix the install, or reinstall whatsoever, BUT : can I really come with that kind of answers in a classroom ?
"-Oh, and now publish the form, by clicking here..."
"-Oh, that doesn't work ? Hmmm, it's a known issue without any solution. Uninstall everything and reinstall everything, that should work (or not). Yeah, I know, it's Acrobat...
and no, sorry, I don't have time to uninstall an reinstall everything on all the computers in the classroom, sorry, it's the end of the day. Bye ! What ? You, students, think this
training was in fact useless ? Hm, you kinda of right...we spent a whole day setting forms, discussed how Acrobat is a cool software, and in the end our forms are good to be dropped to the trashcan."
May we have a answer from the Acrobat Team here ?

  • Acrobat 9 not connecting to Thunderbird in Windows 8

I have seen many posts from people where Acrobat will not send via Thunderbird.  This problem persists even while the email link works using other Windows apps and the mailto link on web pages.
The solution is simple.  Open "Contol Panel" in Windows Settings.  Choose "Programs".  Choose the main heading "Default Programs".  Choose "Set programs access and computer defaults".  Expand the "Custom" section.
Under the heading "Choose a default e-mail program", chose Mozilla Thunderbird.
Viola!  Restart Adobe Acrobat and your email button will no launch Thunderbird!

Yes, I am running the 64bit Windows 8.  Acrobat Pro has been updated to version 9.5.3.  Sorry I left that out.  Despite the update to Acrobat the mail pdf function did not work previously or with the updates, until I performed the change to the Windows settings described in the original post above.

  • Error (150:30) for Acrobat Pro 9.3 and PS 3 & 4 CS

I just had a very nice call with a support person at the 800 number, but I thought that I would still post my problem in the hopes that it might still help move towards a solution.
I lost use of Acrobat Pro 9.5.1 back in early June when I updated my MAC OS to Lion (OS X 10.7.4). After I upgraded to Lion, Acrobat Pro 9.5.1 stopped working and started giving me a notice saying, "Suite Product Activation Needed".
I unistalled the program and then reinstalled Acrobat Pro 9.3.0 from the orginal Adobe CS 5 Design Standard disk. At that point I found that the reinstall still did not work and had created an additional set of problems. I stopped working on this because I was leaving my main office for the summer and figured that I would survive short term with Adobe Reader. I also figured a patch would present itself given enough time.
Now that I am back, I've found the time to revisit this. I am wondering if I somehow missed an opportunity to fix this because Lion upgraded to Mountain Lion and I upgraded the Mac OS before finding a fix for Acrobat.
I spent most of yesterday working on this and this is what I found:
    1) I cannot not upgrade Acrobat Pro at all. It is stuck on version 9.3.0. This is important because I saw 9.5.2 was released and, if it has a patch, I cannot use it because I can't get back to 9.5.1.
    2) I have been all over the boards looking for a solution. I did find the Support Document #51260 (which phone support directed me to as well). This document, "Error 'Licensing has stopped working'|MAC OS", outlines fixes up through Lion, but has not been updated to Mountion Lion.
    3) From document #51260, I went ahead and downloaded LicenseRecoveryLauncher to have it. The problem, however, is this is a PowerPC app and Mounton Lion no longer supports PowerPC apps.
    4) Because of document #51260, I tried opening my older Photoshop programs from CS 4 and CS 3. I get the same (150:30) notice with Photoshop CS4 ver 11.0.2 and just a notice saying that Licensing has topped working with Photoshop CS3 version 10.0.1.
    5) Since I'm writing this, I find that I am getting the same Licensing notice for Illustartor CS 3 & 4 and In Design CS 3 & $.
    6) The one program that I can use is Photoshop CS 5 Version 12.0.4
As I said earlier, I am wondering if I didn't miss a window of some sort to fix this by not seeing the fix for Lion as described in Document #51260. I am also wondering if the problems are related to the fact the Mac no longer supports PowerPC apps.
Regardless, the problem of not being able to run Acrobat Pro 9 still exists for me and the current fix document does not solve the issue for Mountain Lion. Is there an updated fix that does?
    I am running:
    Mac Pro (Early 2008)
    Processor  2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB
    Software  Mac OS X 10.8.1 (12B19))
PS - I tried downloading Acrobat 9.5.1 and when I click on the installer I get a warning message saying "AcroProUpd951_all" is an application froman unkown source and am I sure that I want to open it. I did open it, but it does not run a program. It takes me to Mac HD/users/My User Name/Documents/Acrobat User Data and then there is nothing to select. I can't even slect the Acrobat Pro Icon in the apps folder. My web browser is Firefow 15.0

    Hi
I've a big problem with adobe acrobat reader XI pro and I hope you can help me.
The problem is; when I past copied text from some pdf books (not all of them) it past symbols only! wherever I past it! and even if I coped that text from another pdf reader (adobe pdf reader, internet browsers, ...etc.).
This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
    What can I do?
    thank you a lot.

There is no product called Adobe Acrobat Reader Pro. There is
    - Adobe Acrobat Pro ($$)
    - Adobe Reader (free)
Which do you have? And are you a programmer?

  • I need to configure Acrobat to display PDF files in Safari, but I have a lot of troubles to do it.I have OX S yosemite, I unistalled adobe acrobat, I closed safary and I installed the new version of adobe acrobat.

    Dear everyone
I need to configure Acrobat to display PDF files in Safari, but I have a lot of troubles to do it.
I read a european commission document explaining that
    http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/data/support/sep_usermanual.pdf
If Safari does not display pdf forms in the browser window, uninstall all older versions of Adobe Reader and download the most recent one. First close Safari and then install Reader. Launch Safari and you ought to be able to open the pdf files inside the Safari window. If you install Adobe Reader 10.1.x without first closing Safari, Safari will not display the pdf file inside its browser window until it is re-launched. For further help, please see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-safari-plug-acrobat-x.html
I have OX S yosemite, I unistalled adobe acrobat, I closed safary and I installed the new version of adobe acrobat
but when I open a web page that I need to allow me to display and modify PDF files it is not working.
I checked the following web page
    Troubleshoot Safari plug-in | Acrobat X, Reader X
    that is recommending the following:
The AdobePDFViewer plug-in is used to display PDF files in Safari using Acrobat and Reader.
This plug-in is installed as part of the Acrobat X or Reader X installation. The location of this plug-in is:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
but after the new installation with this folder is completely empty and I am still
    unable to open these pdf.
Does anybody knows anything else I can do?
    Best regards
    Ramon

  • Firefox and Thunderbird do not communicate anymore : I can't open links from TB emails ( a href... ) and can't send mail from FF pages (mailto)

    Hi there,
Please excuse me if a make a few mistakes, I am French ;)
I come here because firefox and thunderbird are not working together anymore. This is what happens :
    - Firefox and Thunderbird are opened
    - I click on a link in an email
    - A few seconds after that a Firefox windows pops up. The title is : "Close Firefox", the content is : "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
    Second case :
    - Firefox is closed and Thunderbird is open
    - I click on a link in an email
    - A few seconds after that a Firefox windows pops up as expected. Firefox opens the link as expected but doesn't opens the other tabs as usual (when i start FF it re-opens previous tabs)
    Third case :
    - Firefox and Thunderbird are opened
    - I click on a link to send an email (<a href="mailto:......@.....">)
    - A few seconds after that a Thunderbird windows pops up. The title is : "Close Thunderbird", the content is : "Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
As in the second case, if TB is closed when i click on the mailto, TB opens properly and send the email.
If Internet Explorer is set as my default browser, it works fine for "Thunderbird -> link -> IE" but the "IE-> mailto -> TB" still doesn't work.
I already looked up for some answers on google but can't find something which works.
Thank you in advance for your answers.
    Vincent

Check the target field in the Firefox desktop shortcut and make sure that you do not start Firefox with the -no-remote switch or have set the environment variable MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1 (Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment variables).
Always make sure to start at least the default profile without the -no-remote command line switch.
If you need to have more than one profile open at the same time then start subsequent instances with the -no-remote command line switch.
You can not send links from other programs to a Firefox instance that is started with the -no-remote switch.
In such a case you need to drag links in a Firefox window or paste the link in the location bar.

  • Why did firefox and thunderbird both start in safe mode?

Turned on my computer, ran firefox and thunderbird like I always do, and they both started in safe mode. They both showed a box before opening that said they are running in safe mode. Why would they do this?

My PC was lagging because I had just started it. I clicked on the icons and then went into a text editor before they finished loading and was pressing shift while doing some text editing lol. Thanks for solving the mystery, I never knew about shift clicking to start safe modes.

  • Receiving Error "A Number Is Out of Range" in Acrobat 8.1.2 and 7.0

I create mapbooks for the county I work at using ESRI's ArcMap ArcEditor. Once the book is done I convert it to PDF so that officers, fire fighters, etc. can open it on their laptops. Recently I started receiving the error "A Number is Out of Range" when I finish combining the PDF files into a binder. The error persists anytime I change pages and I have to click OK several times before it goes away. This becomes a problem for emergency management when their trying to search a road, plus it is also very annoying. Does anyone know how to get around this? It didn't use to do this. I thought maybe it was the fonts I was using, so I changed most of them to Arial and Times New Roman, yet it still persists, but seems slightly better. I cannot find anything on Adobes website about A Number is Out of Range. Also, I am using Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 and have also tried Professional 7.0. I'm running Windows XP. I have also tried reverting back to old versions of ArcMap and also the mapbook software MapLogic, but nothing helps. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I'm getting this error also, and I don't think it's a font issue. Here's my situation.
I created a 144-page manual in Adobe FrameMaker 8.0 using the same template and fonts that I have used in several other large manuals. I saved the manual as a PDF using Acrobat 3D 8.0, and is get the mind-numbingly vague error "A number is out of range." I didn't get this error in previous versions of this manual, nor do I get this error with the other manuals on which I am currently working. I had inserted some EPS technical drawings, so I opened all of them in Illustrator CS3 and Created Outlines for any text that appeared in the illustrations.
After two days of replacing all of the fonts, optomizing PDFs, and distilling, distilling, and distilling again, I was not able to get rid of this message using Acrobat. I finally pulled out my MacBook Pro, opened the PDF manual using Preview, saved the PDF under a different name (no need to apply a Quartz filter), and (abracadabra!) the vague error message is gone!
Fonts may be one cause of the annoyingly vague "A number is out of range" error, but they are not the only one. And with such informative error messages as that, I doubt I'll ever know what is really wrong with my PDF.
    Cheers!

  • Do Firefox's and Thunderbird's versions 32 bit work also for 64 bit systems in Linux?

    Hello
I installed on my 64 bit laptop some Linux distros, each one in an alongside partition. Until now I used only 32 bit distros, because my machine has only 4 GB RAM and I prefer well tested softwares.
About Firefox and Thunderbird, I don't use the distro's versions, but I download from Mozilla's site the packages tar.bz2, expand them and save them into a date partition (not a system partition), accessible by each distro. In the same partition I saved also Firefox and Thunderbird profiles, in order to use the same software, the same profiles and the same mail archive with any distro I installed.
Now, I'd like to install also a distro that is offered only in the 64 bit version. The question is: may I use the same 32 bit version of Firefox and Thunderbird also with the 64 bit distro, sharing it (and profiles and mail archive) with the other distros (32 bit)?
If no, may I use only for the 64 bit distro the tar.bz2 of Firefox and Thunderbird 64 bit, but keeping on sharing profiles and mail archive with 32 bit Firefox and Thunderbird (with the other distros)?
    Thanks for your help.

You may need appropriate 32-bit packages in order to run 32-bit versions on 64-bit Linux though.
There are 64-bit versions of Firefox for Linux at https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ and for Thunderbird well they do not make as easy to get http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/31.2.0/linux-x86_64/ just choose your language like say en-US.

  • Acrobat 9.0 Pro and Office 2008 updates download but won't install

I hope I'm not alone experiencing the following difficulties installing third party patches and updates and that someone who reads this may recognize the problem…and its solution. I've run Adobe Updater (6?) for CS4 Design Standard which includes Acrobat 9.0 Professional, and subsequently, Microsoft Autoupdate for Office 2008 v12.0.1, but find that neither will install the downloaded updates which disappear immediately after an (unsuccessful) installation attempt.
Disk space is not a problem (500GB HD) nor is memory (4GB RAM); I'm using OS 10.6.4 (10F569) which is the most current set of OS updates I can locate. I had successfully been running CS4 with Adobe's most recent patches (e.g. P'Shop 11.0.2 and Acrobat 9.3.3) until the 9.3.4 patch failed to install with the message that +"Safari and Acrobat apps must be closed in order to proceed"+—they were closed as was everything else that wasn't essential according to a check of the Acitivity Window. A grab of the alert panel reads:
+"AcroProUPd934_all Update Failed: The Patch has failed because the application has been modified since it was originally installed (for example, plug-ins may have been disabled). Please go to the Adobe support website for more information regarding how to re-enable disabled components prior to installing the patch, or you can uninstall and reinstall the application, and then reinstall the patch."+
Of course, uninstalling CS4 and reinstalling the entire suite of apps reverts all of them to their original versions, now none of them will accept an update…whether manually downloaded and fed to it or by using Adobe's most recent AutoUpdater. The most consistent message is an alert panel stating that in order to continue, Safari and Acrobat applications must be closed—which they are.
Not surprisingly, after nearly 8 hours on a cell phone with Adobe Tech Support in Delhi, 5 different techs and a manager, the case remains open a week later; it seems +"no one has ever seen or heard of this problem before"+ and an overly apologetic manager could only repeat +"it's [Adobe] policy to remove all copies of CS4 from existence once CS5 is introduced."+ While we waited for 500MB of updates to download more than once, a helpful tech suggested I'd have more luck finding a used copy of CS4 on the net than getting a link to another download from Adobe.
With regard to Microsoft Office 2008, I'd been running v12.0.1 and the MS Autoupdate app has tried to download and install v12.1.0 (and those which follow) but when installation is attempted, an alert panel reads:
+"There is a problem with the Office database. Office might be unable to access the data base or the database file might be damaged. Without the database, you might be unable to use the Address Book, Scrapbook, and other features that store your personal information. To rebuild the database, Open Microsoft Office 2008/Office, and then open the Microsoft Database Utility. For more information, open the Database Utility application, and on the Help menu, click Database Utility Help."+
All attempts to rebuild the database fail, noting…
+ERROR: Failed to open database [Head]+
    +ERROR: Corruption opening database [16003:""]+
    ======================
    +Scan Ended+
    ====================
Two hours on the phone with a relentlessly pleasant Nova Scotian tech for Microsoft revealed little but the suggestion that +"the app doesn't seem to be able to recognize your hard drive. I've never seen this problem before."+
With luck, perhaps someone reading this far recognizes the issue and can offer a solution? It will be gratefully received! Thanks,
    David

Disk space is not a problem (500GB HD)
How much space is available out of the 500GB?
Have you tried any of the following:
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run _*Repair Disk*_ from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select *Disk Utility.*
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click *First Aid.*
    Click _*Repair Disk.*_
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 and try the installations again.

  • Word, Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and PDF Maker

I am still using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and I also have Office 2010 installed on my Windows 7 laptop. Is there a way to get PDF Maker to work in Office? Right now when I open Word for example the PDF tab does not appear anywhere. I tried running the repair feature in Acrobat but nothing has changed.
I believe Office needs to be installed first then Acrobat so PDF Maker can be installed. I did this intially when I had Office 2007 but then I unintalled it and installed Office 2010 and I'm guessing that is why things aren't working. Am I going to need to reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro Extended?

Acrobat 9.x is not compatible with MS Office 2010

  • Help deleting pirated Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and copying new 9 pro

    Hi
I originally bought a copy of Adobe 9 Pro Extended on ebay for 250 USD but unfortunately it turned out to be priated. I discovered this only when I rang Adobe about there being no serial number shown in the software. Other than that I would never had known.
Anyway in a bid to get legitimate software I have purchased a copy of Learning Suite 2.
First step delete Acrobat 9. Well it does not appear in the Add/Remove programs, so I elected to delete it manually. Ie deleting the folder and files. To do this I went to programs (x86) and deleted the folder.
Installing Learning Suite Disk 1 has installed with no issues.
Installing Learing Suite Disk 2 (Acrobat 9 Pro), I continue to get an error message that a more capable produst is installed and the installer terminates.
    I have tried the following:
Using Windows Installer Cleanup: It will not run as it says I have a runtime error.
CS3 and CS4 Clean Script: It works untill the point where Windows Installer Cleanup cannot be found and then terminates.
Deleteing files under Documents and Settings
An option I can see is that I restore to point 5 days ago and then try another tack.
The hardware and operating system is: Dell Studio i7 with Win 7 Ultimate
    Please help.
    Pete

    Hi 737,
I have solved similar problems successfully on my PC with WinXP. May be my solution gives you a clue.
I have installed CCleaner - a freeware cleaning program with satisfactory results.
First of all I used System Restore in case I had to return to the point from where I started.
After that I deleted the complete DIR of the 'wrong' program from C:\Program Files\ ... etc.
For your problem: note that a bunch of Acrobat files are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\....
    and probably also in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\....
I suggest to look for Acrobat files stored for other users as well.
Delete these Acrobat files or Acrobat DIR's.
Run the Register tool of CCleaner (second item left column). TIP: Do not tack all check points at once, but start with the upper item (missing DLL) - scan for problems - no back up needed - Correct all problems. Tack the second chechpoint and repeat the procedure, tack the third - and so on.
It is obvious that the checkpoint(s) you have already scanned will not show any problems.
Doing this step by step you will not be confronted with a mess (and mass) of information you don't know how to handle.
Have a look at CCleaner - Tools (third item left column). May be it shows the program (or part of it) you want to delete.
Check once again whether the program you wish to delete is shown in the software list of the configuration screen.
All the above is based of WINXP.
Hope you will be able to find the equivalents in WIN7.
    Have a nice day.

  • Using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and Adobe InDesign

I was wondering if my MB would be capable of running Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and Adobe InDesign. My MB has 4GB of RAM, when in Parallels it I have the RAM allocated to 1GB for XP and 3GB for OS X. Currently, I have 84GB or hard drive remaining. Would these two programs operate okay on my MB? Also, is it possible for me to install them on a separate HD so that it does not hog space on my MB?

would I be able to install the programs on an external hard drive so it doesn't hog my Mac's hard drive space?
if buy the whole CS4 design Premium Suite, would I be able to select which components to install?
You should probably post those questions on the Adobe forums: http://www.adobeforums.com
