Acrobat 9.4.4 patch stops combine files from MS Word

Yesterday morning, I was able to use the right click and "Combine supported files in Acrobat" repeatedly and just fine.
Then the updates came. Unfortunately we installed them on most of the computers in our office (except for one that was off), and so now every patched computer in my office is not able to use the 'combine supported files in Acrobat' without locking up on the first file.  One of the computers gave a DDE error box, but I wasn't there to see it.
The computer that didn't receive the patch continues to work just fine.
I called tech support and he said it must have been a setting on my computer, because that's what his cue card says. This problem is across multiple platforms, (Vista AND 7 Pro) and with Word 2007, and Word 2010.  Everyone was working in the morning, and was broke after the patches. Please reply to this so that Adobe will wake up and realize there were issues with the patch, and not ask me to pay for the tech support fee.
Thanks,
Michael Roark

I've got a javascript that split up pdfs from a text file that worked sweetly on v9.4 but now refuses to open the pdf and throws an error

  • Stop M2V files from previewing in finder

Is there any way to stop M2V files from previewing in finder? It either always crashes the finder or it just sits there forever(especially if it is a long video) with the cursor spinning until it can preview it.
Also when I try to locate these type of files when DVD Studio cant find them, it crashes DVD studio.

column view is the way I prefer view Finder and that is where it shows a preview of the video in the last collumn to the right. I know that you can turn off this preview from showing on all collumns, but i find it so usefull for everything else.
I remember a couple of years back when it would'nt even try to preview the file it would just show an image maybe the first frame. this was back in the days of DVD Studio 1.0. I'm pretty sure that Quicktime wouldn't open the files either back then either. there needs to be a way to tell OS X not to preview certain file types.
I wouldn't care except it can take up to 15 to 20 min for OSx to preview the file and in that time you cant use the the finder at all. talk about losing your day. most of the time now it just crashed the finder.
I'm still using panther 10.39. is this my problem? does Tiger have the same issues?

  • Creating a PD file from MS Word (2007) document

I have Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro (as part of CS3) and MS Word 2007 (as part of Office 2007)and have been trying to create a PDF file from a word document.
Here are the steps I have taken:
Open Word document and then click the "Acrobat" Tab.
    Then click "Create PDF" tab
In the dialog box that appears I selected "Fully Fucntional PDF" and clicked OK
I get the following message: "PDFMaker cannot locate the Adobe PDF Printer's printer driver. Please re-install Adobe Acrobat 8.0."
So I re-installed Adobe CS3 (which contains Acrobat 8 Pro). This did not solve the problem.
I repeated the whole process again this time selecting "Quick and simple PDF" and clicked OK. This time a PDF file was created.
My question is - why can't I create a "Fully Functional PDF" file? Is there something wrong or do I need some higher level version of Acrobat?
Looking forward to some advice. Thanks. Alan

Look in the printer list to be sure that the Adobe PDF printer is loaded. Also, go to the Adobe.com>download>updates and download all of the updates for AA8 and install them in order (don't try to skip unless the site says you can). The current version is AA8.1.3. That might solve the problem. It may be that you need at least AA8.1.2 to work properly with WORD 2007. There were a lot of problems with the initial release.

  • Bloated pdf File from Macintosh Word?

When creating a pdf file from a Word file on a Mac the file size becomes huge.  The same file converted to pdf using Acrobat on a Windows machine results in a much smaller file.  For example  I wrote a two page letter that included several photos:
    Original file size: 12.9 MB
pdf created by Acrobat on Windows PC:  227 KB
pdf created by Acrobat on Mac (OSX10.10): 61.1 MB
pdf created by Mac: 61.2 MB
What the heck is going on?
    Thanks.

    Dov:
I have a trial version of Adobe Acrobat XI installed.  I created the pdf files 4 different ways:
    1)  On my PC I used the "Print" menu then printed using the Adobe Acrobat option.  Result: file size = 221 KB
    2)  On my Mac I used Acrobat, selected "Create pdf" from the "File" menu, selected the Word document, and clicked "Save".  Result: file size = 61.1 MB
    3)  Also on my Mac I opened MS Word, selected "Print" then created a pdf using the "Save as pdf" open:  Result:  file size = 61.2 MB
    4)  Just now I tried the method you suggested.  From within Word I selected "Print" then "Save as Adobe pdf" from the print menu.  Result:  file size = 209 KB.
It worked great.  The "Create pdf" in the "File" menu was the problem.  Thank you so much.

  • Hi! I have a MacBook and I am trying to delete files from Microsoft Word. Somehow I cannot simply throw them in the trash. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Hi! I have a MacBook and I am trying to delete files from Microsoft Word. Somehow I cannot simply throw them in the trash. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Why not? Are there error messages? Where are the files located? Why are you deleting MicroSoft Word files?

  • Can I transfer files from microsoft word onto an IPad and if so how?

I am getting the new IPad and would like to transfer files from microsoft word onto it. Is this possible and if so how?

You can, but first you need an app on the iPad that supports the type of document/file that you want to copy to it - the iPad doesn't have a file system like a 'normal' computer, everything has to be associated with an app. As to how you then get the documents to your chosen app will depend upon what the app supports - different apps will have different ways of copying their content to/from a computer e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc.
Apps that support word documents include Apple's Pages app, and third-party apps such as Documents To Go and QuickOffice HD

  • Acrobat 8: How to prevent "Combine Files" from adding a header?

    Hi All.
I am using Acrobat 8 (Win XP SP II) and am having a problem with the "Combine Files" feature. In the past, I've used this function to create hundreds of PDF files from thousands of individiual PDF's. It worked great. But now, suddenly, Acrobat increases the landscape page height from 8.5 to 8.8 inches, and then adds a header containing document name and date info.
I don't want this header. I've looked all over Acrobat and Distiller and converter preferences but can't seem to find how to shut this feature off. Can anyone help me?
To see an example, go to:

    Many Thanks!
    Gary Wedemayer

I have multiple single-page PDF files lying in a folder; I hit Files-->Combine Files, select the relevant PDF files, and let it rip using any of the quality settings (low, medium, high- makes no difference).
But I see nothing in the Combine Files dialog box that is relevant to this kind of header, so it must be hidden somewhere else. Can't find it for the life of me, tho!
If I have to I'll revert back to Acrobat 6.0 or write a Javascript to combine the files for me, but I know I can do it straight up in Acrobat 8 'cos I've done it many times before.
    Thanx.

  • Acrobat 8.3.0 has stopped converting files to .pdf

    Hi,
For some reason my acrobat 8.3 has stopped converting files. When I hit a convert command it trys, works to about 10-15%, then either comes back with a message that "Unable to convert, please correct the problem" or simply stops working and the Word(tm) document might flash and remain on the screen with no pdf created. I have tried to repair through the Help tab, and have also tried reinstalling from My Computer functions. Anybody know what i should do????

    Hi Bill,.
    Well, still having same problem.
I found acrotray and it appears to be running, still did not work.
So, decided to uninstall and install. Did as you suggested, deleted the folders, deactivated the product with Adobe, and then reinstalled from my original files. This was Version 8.1.0. I thought it would update itself, or atleast work from this version. no avail.
The conversion gets to 10% then the message, "unable to convert this file, correct errors and retry" continues to come up. at least it is consistent.
I am using Vista Home. I am going to try and update that to see if it helps, but seems to me i have done that a few times the last few weeks and did not help. Should i D/L fresh files from the adobe site?
Could it be a printer spooler problem where the printer won't start or something?
    i do appreciate your help.

  • Why can't I combine files from right click any more?

I used to be able to select a set of documents in the Windows file explorer, right click these highlighted documents, and then right click-->Combine Files in Acrobat.
This used to open the combine files page in Acrobat and I would be able to combine the files directly.
Now when I use right click to combine files in Acrobat it simply opens Acrobat. If I want to combine the files I have to go to Acrobat, select the option, and then navigate to the files.
This similar issue exists for edited PDFs. I used to be able to right click a document and select "Edit with Adobe Acrobat" and the document would open when this option was selected. Now if this option is selected it opens Adobe Acrobat and I have to navigate to any files I want to use.
How do I use the right click features in the file explorer? These features don't work any more and they used to.

    Hi
Could you please tell which Acrobat version you are using and also the OS- Windows 7 or 8.1?
Also can you please tell whether you are getting Acrobat specific combine and Edit options in the right - click menu?
If yes, are they working or nothing happens on clicking them?
If possible, can you also try to restart your system and then try Right-click -> combine files in Acrobat?
    Thanks
    Tanvi

  • Stop iPhoto files from appearing in desktop and screen saver.

I have pictures in IPhoto that I want to maintain the security and restrict access. The photos are confidential. The problem is that the files show up in screen saver and desktop. In OSX.5 how do you remove iPhoto files from desk top and screen saver? or prevent desktop or screen saver from accessing the files?

    Walter:
You'll need to put them in their own library and put the library in a password protected (disk image) dmg file big enough to hold the library. You can use iPhoto Library Manager to quickly move between libraries after opening the disk image.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Why can I not create pdf files from MS Word documents?

I'm using Acrobat Pro XI (11.0.5), and Microsoft Word 2007:  I've noticed just recently that, whenever I try to create a pdf file - from within Microsoft Word - I get a message:  Word has stopped working"....  and then the word program crashes.   Then I get a message that says the adobe add-in isn't working and recommends that I disable it.   This is extremely frustrating!  I've tried going into Acrobat directly to create the pdf, to no avail.  I've tried utilizing the "Repair Acrobat Installation" and that doesn't seem to work either.
The only thing I've noticed which might have caused this problem is I just recently updated Adobe Reader - is there some "conflict" going on between having these two Adobe products installed on the same Computer?
