Acrobat pro 9 has stopped combining excel and word files

Hello
Acrobat 9 Pro crashes when combining word and excel. It is ok with merging PDFs
I have tried updating the software - it crashes saying install manager has stopped working
I have installed repaired and re installed - still can't combine
It will combine multiple PDF and photo files
Operating system is windows 7
Thanks in advance

When telling Acrobat to combine DOC/DOCX or XLS/XLSX files Acrobat must use its PDFMaker.
Acrobat asks the OS to open the file(s) native application (Word or Excel for your situation) and then has PDFMaker output a PDF.
Acrobat then combines these PDF files.
But, Acrobat 9 PDFMaker is not compatible in Windows 7.
You can use the Adobe PDF printer to output a PDF from the Word / Excel files then, as you noted, combine the PDFs.
Acrobat X provided a Windows 7 compatible PDFMaker.
However, Acrobat X has been replaced by Acrobat XI.
So, to do what you desire you'd need to upgrade to Acrobat XI.
The available upgrade paths are here:

  • Acrobat Pro XI . converting of excel and word to pdf

After installing Acrobat Pro XI two days ago, the conversions of excel and word to pdf are less than optimal.  Poor fonts, color and sometimes blurry.

That's very kind of you Bill.
Since my last forum post I have uninstalled Acrobat Pro, - with its updates - and reinstalled the original from disk. The conversion from Word 2007 to PDF is working fine. And that was where I was prepared to leave it. Of course any updates would not be possible.
However, since you have offered to help, I'd be most grateful of any assistance.
To answer your question, the usual way I create PDF files from Word is from within the open Word program. From there I can simply 'Save As' to PDF format.
That's the way MS says to do it. Is there another way? The updates stop this working. The process begins but then stops part way through and dies. No pdf file is created.
I'm not familiar with the print to file option. I had a look at print options from within Word but no mention of any PDF Maker although Adobe PDF is listed as a printer. However, if I try to print to Adobe PDF I get an error saying there is an error in the printer setup.
    With thanks

  • Working with EXCEL and WORD files on a Mac Pro

    Hello,
I have a lot of EXCEL and WORD files and the compatibility with NUMBERS and PAGES is not really satisfying. Is there a EXCEL and WORD app which runs without surprises on a Mac Pro?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Microsoft sells its own Microsoft Office version for OS X > http://www.microsoft.com/mac Microsoft Office for Mac will be the application that will give you less headaches when using Office documents, so I recommend it.
Another application you should consider is LibreOffice, which is free > http://www.libreoffice.org

I need to open and use Excel and Word files on my iPad, which software need to get?

    The options include :
Apple's Pages app for Word docs and Numbers for Excel spreadsheets
There are also third-party apps which support both word and excel in the one app e.g.Documents To Go and QuickOffice HD

  • Is there a free version of Adobe to allow me to convert Excel and word files to PDF's

is there a free version of Adobe to allow me to convert Excel and word files to PDF's

    Nothing free no.
At best there is a subscription you can purchase for a relatively low monthly price ($7.50 per month) that can be accessed through Adobe Reader (which is free).

  • Acrobat Pro has bitten the dust and I really, really need it - HELP!

I'm hving some real 'issues' with Acrobat Professional nd I can't really pinpoint when they started. Adobe seems clueless. Everything works fine on my Intel iMac but the app now simply freezes on my MBP - literally freezes. All processes stop, no way to Force Quit. It opens fine - then if I try to do ANYTHING it freezes straight away. The only non-approved software I installed was the 'two finger click' keypad option available on the new 17" MBP - it worked fine, but, thinking it the culprit, I installed the 'old' trackpad configuration. No go.
I've reinstalled Acrobat Pro from the original CS disk and let it update automatically and, when that didn't work, downloaded and installed all updates manually. Still the same problem.
I just downloaded 7.07 Reader to see if that will at least open a document without freezing up (oh, if I double-click on a pdf document, as I had changed all from Preview to AcroPro long ago, it will open - and then everything freezes).
I'm nearing the point of a complete re-init, and reinstall. Thank goodness I back-up regularly. This is only occurring on my main MBP - the 2GHz (why is the 2.16GHz not my 'main' machine? Too long an explanation) and it's driving me crazy. I've booted in Safe mode, I've run all diagnostics, Adobe just keeps saying 'Version Cue' and I've not run Version Cue since I first had trouble with it 5-6 months ago.
If anyone has any ideas for fixes, I can make it through the weekend without taking any radical steps. I just want to get back to normal!

Oddly enough, Acrobat Pro is working fine - with all updates, etc., on my Intel 20" iMac. There are those with iMacs posting on the Adobe board for whom AcroPro is not working but it seems as if the majority of users posting are MacBook (and MacBook Pro) users.
I am truly, truly confused that if Security Update 2006-003 is the genuine and only culprit, why Pro is working on my iMac. One thing I have not tried on my iMac is using the Adobe PDF printer... on my MacBook Pro it will seem to print but the application from which I am printing will freeze just as Acrobat freezes and requires are hard reset.
When trying to diagnose these problems, I make certain that there are no devices attached, etc., but on my iMac I have 8 USB devices connected to hubs, 6 FireWire devices chained and one in the remaining 'free' port - and that's the machine on which Acrobat Pro works! It's the MacBook Pros, in my case, that it simply freezes.
I don't know where else I've made these observations (I've been posting all around, trying to find a solution that precludes uninstalling SU2006-03, as there are a number of holes patched that are now public and I really don't want to remain open to security vulnerabilities) but here's what I've observed trying to use Adobe Acrobat products with all Apple and Adobe updates and upgrades, including SU2006-03, on MacBook Pros (both 2GHz and 2.16GHz):
    * Acrobat Pro freezes and requires a hard reset both when the application is opened directly and when opened by double clicking on document (the document will open - but the application freezes: no damage to an open document on hard reset);
    * trying to print to Adobe's PDF printer will, after seeming to complete the printing process, cause the application from which you are printing to freeze and necessitate a hard reset
    * Acrobat Distiller works fine - if you can save as PostScript, you can process through Distiller;
    * Apple's 'built in' PDF functions work fine;
    * printing a PDF document (exporting) from InDesign works fine, and;
    * Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.07 works fine.
If anyone has any observations that might be included to find if there is some oddball work-around (as Adobe has stated they will not support Acrobat Pro on Intel Macs and Apple seems to not be testing updates or upgrades on Acrobat Pro - and I don't blame Apple as testing unsupported applications would be a waste of time). I won't go off on my anti-Adobe tirade here - I really love the company's products but they are risking disenfranchising very large enterprise customers: if they wish to become a Windows only company they are on the right track but one would think that they would take a look at Quark to realize that tactic might lose more customers than box volume sales can reveal. Adobe's tech support has not reached the low, yet, as did Quarks, but bucking the trend toward Intel Macs is reminiscent of Quark's decision to withhold resources in OSX development. My Xpress update should arrive next week and the UB version later in the summer. I don't want to switch again but if InDesign 'breaks' and Adobe decides that they're not supporting it on the Intel Mac platform, I don't want to be left with nothing. And if the remainder of CS2 stops working? I suppose some people will switch to XP for a while? Look for other apps that may not have the full functionality yet get the job done? I don't know. But I'll formulate a plan. I learned my lesson about the insurance afforded by a good back-up policy long ago: I just never thought I'd be in a position of shipping software being unsupported (particularly with Adobe's 'commitment', early on, to Apple's switch to Intel).
I'll stop my rant now. Sorry for the long message - this one has me worked up! Let everyone know of your experiences here, on the Adobe board, and particularly on the MacFixIt board at www.macfixit.com: you can email the problems you're having to [email protected]. There's an article now at MacFixit about problems with CS2 installation on Intel Macs. And they are a good source for tapping some of the best minds for workarounds.
I'm just hoping this isn't just a taste of things to come from Adobe.

  • After updating my iMac to 10.9.2 it has deleted my excel and word, plus I can no longer connect my Epson printer, I can't even reload it with the disc, how can I fix this?

We updated our computer a while back to 10.9.2, but once it was complete we no longer use excel or word as the files were missing for them, plus our epson printer wouldn't work, it said something like the files for this printer could not be found, we tried to reload the printer using the disc as the printer was less than a year old but the computer would not load it probably, I called epson and they replied that there was a problem with the update and has done something to the mac driver, has anyone else had a problem with this update? and can it be sorted

Don't use the CD--it is almost always out of date. Just add the printer using Print & Scan System Prefs and it should find the correct drivers.
If not, go to the Epson website and download the current ones.
If you need the bundled software that comes on the CD, download it from Epson.
What version of Office was it? 2004 won't run on any OS after 10.6.  Office 2008 and 2011 will run.
However, it should not have deleted any of your Documents.
If it was Office 2008 or 2011, try reinstalling it. I've found that Microsoft products have a hard time with change. It's like when you remove the pagoda from a goldfish bowl. To the goldfish, the world around them has changed and they freak out. Sometimes you can calm down the Microsoft products by reinstalling them.

  • Load/save Excel and Word files?

You mean to tell me that we cannot store Excel or Word documents in our teaching. It's not showing as an acceptable file type; yet Power Point files are?

Word and Excel files have never been supported in the Flash Player or Adobe Connect. PPT files are supported because they get converted to Flash files by the server, using the Adobe Presenter conversion engine. If you want to share a Word or Excel file you can do so through screen sharing or you can convert them to a PDF and upload them to the share pod.

  • Downloading Lion has wiped out excel and word. Numbers can't open a password protected excel document

How do I access Excel on my Mac after downloading Lion. I get the message that Power PC applications are no longer supported. numbers won't open excel password protected documents

Well, check that this is Pro workstation, not Lion, and not MBP....
Rosetta / PowerPC is not supported, so you must also have an out of date version of Office like 2004 or earlier. 2008 and 2011 do work, though there may be 3rd party extensions or plug-ins that do not.

    Hi Alan.......
i guess what you need to do is Go to Administration> System Initialization> Print Preferences
Select the Document say Invoice on Per Tab and tick on Export to MS-Word.
Once you add the AR Invoice it will be exported to MS Word automatically.......
Hope this will solve your problem.....

  • Can I open excell and word files on iPad

Is there a way to read ms office files ag. Word , excel or PowerPoint on I pad?

The iPad will open and display them natively.  To edit them, you need an app from the App Store.  Documents to Go is one.

  • Out look 365 crash when preview excel or word file

    Good day
Nobody help me first time i write
I got this problem with my outlook 365
Every time i try to preview excel or word file in any message on outlook 365
It hang then crash and restart
Fny help how can i fix this problem
i even try to fast reinstall
then try to full reinstall it didn't help
    My office version is 15.0.4701.1002
    I use windows 8.1 64bit

    Hi,
Have you ever checked the crash log? Does it say anything useful there? Does this only happen with Excel and Word files? What about other type of attachments?
What do you mean by "fast reinstall" and "full reinstall"?
This issue might occurs due to lots of reasons, I would suggest we first try below steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Try to clean out Outlook attachement cache, then try again. For Outlook 2013, the default folder location of these cache files is stored in the following registry key. Copy the path in the Value, open and clean the file in it:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Security|OutlookSecureTempFolder.
Install any available udpates or update your Office to the latest version. It's always recommended to keep your current up to date.
Test in Outlook safe mode, and see if issue persists: Press Win + R and type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, then press Enter.
Hope this helps, please feel free to post back with any findings.

Are you using the Office for Mac 2011 version, as you need to do?  The Office for Mac 2004 is Not at all compatible with Mountain Lion, and the 2008 version has been noted to have some problems running with ML.
    Hope this helps

My Acrobat Pro IX license was activated and was working fine. Then the application stop launching after an update was by Adobe. The next day I get a pop up message that my trial licenses is set to expire in 29 days. I clicked again to activate my license and this time, the message stated that the license for serial number has been revoked.

  • My macbook pro is running 10.10.1 and has stopped syncing reminders and calendar events to iCloud.

My macbook pro is running 10.10.1 and has stopped syncing reminders and calendar events to iCloud. Changes made to iCloud directly DO update to my machine, so the communication issue is one way only. When I make a change to the calendar or reminders on my machine, it will often bog down and run slowly. I have done several trouble shooting steps without result. these include:
    Restarting my computer.
Running Disk Utility diagnostics for both permissions and disk verification.
Checking that my internet and network is working.
Checking that I am properly logged in to iCloud with my ID on my machine and that I have set everything to sync.
Checking my iCloud settings to stop syncing Reminders and Calendars and then setting them back to sync again.
    Any suggestions?

    1. Calendars in the On My Mac or On My iPhone/iPad/iPod category, and calendars that sync with other network services such as Google, will not sync with iCloud.
    2. Back up all data, then take all the applicable steps in these support articles:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
iCloud: Advanced Calendar and iCal troubleshooting
Nearly all sync issues should be resolved that way. Please make sure you've taken all the steps and tested adequately before continuing.
    3. If there are any calendars on your Mac that you don't synchronize with iCloud, export them by selecting them in the calendar list and then selecting
              File ▹ Export ▹ Export…
from the menu bar. Quit Calendar.
    4. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Calendars
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Move that folder to the Desktop.
    5. Launch Calendar. Your calendars will initially be gone, but they should resynchronize with iCloud. If they don't, uncheck the boxes marked Calendars and Reminders in the iCloud preference pane, then re-check them.
    6. Import the calendars you exported in Step 3, if any, by double-clicking the files.
    7. If the issue is resolved, close the Finder window you opened in Step 4. Delete the exported files and the Calendars folder on the Desktop.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
