Acrobat Reader 7.0.3 and xfa.host.exportData("",0);

I have a lot of forms that I have made with Designer 7.0. Each of them has 'Export XML' button that has the following code
xfa.host.exportData("",0);
So far people with Acrobat Reader clients have been able to export form content to XML file, but now it seems that after some update (7.0.3) this is no longer possible?
Is this really so?
Br,
Kari

Hi!
No, it is no so.
At least it works fine with my forms. I have trouble with the
xfa.host.importData();
which gives me an error message even though it works.

  • Xfa.host.exportData and Reader

I've created a dynamic xml PDF form in Adobe LiveCycle designer.
    Inside the form I placed a button and on the click event I call xfa.host.exportData("",0);
Then opened the file in Acrobat Professional, clicked the button and it works Yay! Then I Saved Other as Reader Extended PDF.
Opened the newly saved file in Reader XI and when I click the button the JavaScript console spit out the following error:
NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method.
    Doc.exportXFAData:-1:XFA:form1[0]:page3[0]:Button1[0]:click
This is really annoying and could use some guidance.

Take a look at the documentation for Doc.exportXFAData():
    http://help.adobe.com/livedocs/acrobat_sdk/11/Acrobat11_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/htm l/wwhelp.htm?context=Acrobat11_HTMLHelp&file=JS_API_AcroJS.89.470.html
As you can see from the "F" in the Quickbar, the document would need "Forms
Rights" for this to work in Reader (
    http://help.adobe.com/livedocs/acrobat_sdk/11/Acrobat11_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/htm l/wwhelp.htm?context=Acrobat11_HTMLHelp&file=JS_API_AcroJSPreface.88.8.html).
You need LiveCycle Reader Extensions to assign those rights.
Unless you can assign form rights to your document, this will not work in
    Reader.

    Hello,
I would like to inform you that not all the browsers and online PDF readers support copying text from a PDF. If you have opened the PDF online, please download PDF file to your computer and then open the file in Adobe Reader.
Please share a screenshot if the issue still persists.

  • Xfa.host.exportData function

    Hello all,
I have a problem related to the function xfa.host.exportData:
    My scenario is the next:
    - I have done a form with several fields.
    - A determined user open this form and fill up the fields.
    - That user, is able to send form via PDF or save as XML.
In Acrobat Professional 8, there is no problem in order to do these functionalities but in Acrobat Reader 9, the user cannot save the data as XML.
I placed the function xfa.host.exportData("",0) in the click event of a check box.
I would like to know if there is any way to get the same functionality in Adobe Reader than Adobe Professional.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best regards.

    Hi,
Unless the form is Reader Enabled in LC Reader Extensions ES2, then users with Reader will not be able to export XML data.
There is a summary and PDF here:
    http://www.assuredynamics.com/index.php/2010/11/using-livecycle-forms-in-acrobat-and-reade r/
So the only way you will get this to work in Reader is to Reader enable the form in LC Reader Extensions ES2. Reader enabling in Acrobat Professional 8 will not work.
Hope that helps clear that up,
    Niall

  • With new updates from Acrobat Read my computer freezes and I can not fill in forms anymore, how do I fix these problems?

After updating Acrobat Reader my computer now freezes when I try to fill in forms using Acrobat Reader, this never happen before! Now the only way to unfreeze my computer is to turn it off and restart it, which is not how a computer is suppose to be turned off as nothing responses to get it unfrozen(ESC., Contol-Alt-Delete)! The I shows up as if I am able to fill in forms, but after trying to fill in the form numerous times various ways, it always ends up freezing my computer up! I HATE THE NEW UPDATES! Why can't I speak with a live human, through Adobe? I would not want to buy anything from any company which would not allow me support by talking to a live human over the phone, as typing messages can be misunderstood! Their is no point to have Acrobat Reader any more if it does not allow me to fill in forms! I could use the reader that came with the computer! It is sad that for myself filling forms using Acrobat Reader was nice since there are times I am unable to write anything due to tremors, unfortunately I am not alone in this type of medical problem and we the disabled the majority of us are on Social Security! Everyone know that Social Security does not give their recipients enough money to live off of! It is sad when a person is ill they lose more than their livelihood, so called friends abandon you too! So how can I fix the freezing problems and is there any Adobe that I can fill in forms which will not cost me money and or another company that may offer this free of charge?

  • How to save Fillable PDF form created in XI - So Acrobat Reader can fill out and send back

Hi, Im extremely hopeful someone can help me with this question, Ive had extreme luck with this question site, you have all been amazing.
I have created a fillable form in Adobe Acrobat XI and I have saved my work and Im ready to send the form to my client.
I have been told that I need to save my file in a manner that the general public that does not have Acrobat XI, and mainly has acrobat reader, will be able to open, fill my form out, and send back to me completed.
    How do I do this.
Ive run a couple tests with coworker and its not allowing the saving of the information that she filled out.
Does anyone know how I need to save and distribute this form so I get it back filled out from my clients? that probably have only reader?
thanks in advance for your help.
    Amy

I think I figured this out???? My pdf tester has gone to bed, so hopefully I will know by morning if this is my solution......
Open the PDF in Acrobat XI (the form you have saved that is ready to be filled out to whoever you distribute the form to).
Choose Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader (Acrobat 8/9) (if you have XI do not do this step, but do step 4 for XI)
    or
File > Save As >Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features (Acrobat X) (Its actually not in save as, but in save as other)
Save the PDF using a different file name, you will be using this new file to be the file you will distribute.
When you now open the PDF in Adobe Reader you will be able to fill the form and save the data and then send it back to the author that is requesting the form to be filled out.

  • Acrobat Reader 10.0.1 and HP DesignJet 1055CM+ incompatibility

    Hello -
I'm an IT administrator with my organization and we recently experienced a compatibility issue.
We have four plotters on our network, one of which is a HP DesignJet 1055CM+. We're currently running Windows 7 64bit on the machines that connect to the plotter over the network. This plotter seems to no longer be officially supported by the manufacturer under Windows 7, but Microsoft offers drivers from Windows Update.
    Microsoft offers -
    - PostScript drivers
    - HP/GL2 drivers
For full flexibility in media handling in Autodesk products, we have installed the HP/GL2 drivers. (For the 1055CM+, this happens to be version 4.82 available from Microsoft.)
Now, on all the other plotters, Acrobat 10.0.1 can use the plotters fine (again, wih HP/GL2 drivers). However, in combination with the 1055CM, a bug was discovered.
BUG: Acrobat Reader 10.0.1 could not discover the correct paper size.
In the printer setup in the Printer Control Panel in Windows, we have ensured using HP's printer drivers that it is configured to use the media we wish to use, a roll of ARCH E1 sized (30 x 42) paper. We have also determined using Acrobat's advanced printer configuration window that the correct media is selected. However, on the main print configuration window, it automatically selects 8.5x11 media and ignores any other available size.
None of the other plotters (DesignJet 750+, DesignJet 800) exhibit this behavior.
Fix attempted: Update 10.0 to 10.0.1 - no change
Fix attempted: Update HP/GL2 drivers to version 4.84, available for Windows Vista - no change
Current workaround: Adobe Acrobat Reader version 9.x continues to work properly, so many of our users have been downgraded back to 9.4.2.
Another workaround: Some of our users use Bluebeam, and it continues to work fine with the 1055CM+.
Please respond if you can help.
    - Greg

Additionally... if printing is even attempted, nothing will print!

  • Acrobat Reader LE 2.5 and 10.0.245 difference?

The Acrobat Reader that came with the Anna update was 10.0.245 but the previous one was LE2.5, anyone know the difference? Using a C7. Thanks.

I do a lot of graphic design work which means I work with a lot of fonts, 4880 to be exact. Since 2005 I have found a number of fonts that simply quit working with Windows Vista vs XP 7 vs Vista, and even in Mac OS X from one build to another. It also happened with Software like Acrobat, Reader, TurboTax, Firefox, and Office.
It may just be that this particular font no longer meets compatibility standards for Reader X.

  • Acrobat Reader X Protected mode and DDE

    Hi,
I have an acrobat reader plug-in that we communicate with using DDE commands (based loosly on the DDEserver sample from the SDK). However, it doesn't work in Acorbat Reader X Protected mode.
I've tried using the ProtectedModeWhitelistConfig.txt method but to no avail.
Did anyone encounter this issue with plug-ins that uses DDE? Can anyone point me to solution or alternative way?
    Thanks,
    Yoav

    Thanks for the reply.
IF the whitelist is indeed the correct way, i couldn't make it work with it. I must say that the documentation out there on the whitelist is far from being perfect. The closest thing I found was about namedpipes in the Broker log but nothing on DDE.
As for the license and developer support - The license was granted years ago and I'm not sure if developer support is still active for us. How do I check this?

  • Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 and new MBP

In setting up my new MBP, I opted to not have the migration assistant bringover applications, just my home and network settings. I want to get universal binary versions of apps when available.
I went to install adobe reader (acroread) from the Adobe WEB site.
It downloads the installer package, which starts up and goes through the usual phases, at which point it decides an upgrade is in order, not an install.
The upgrade falls without anything informative or usefull.
It seems there's some state laying around the disk somewhere, preventing a full install. Using spotlight, I removed everything that I could find related to acroread, adobe, etc. plist files and the like. Didn't help.
Still digging, but I thought I'd toss it out.
    Thanks

  • SWF Export, no font showing in Acrobat and zoom border problem (Acrobat & Reader) - Indesign CS6

    Hi Everyone,
If anyone could help me on this that would be great, I've spent hours on the forums and manuals to no avail.
I'm making an interactive PDF brochure in Indesign for one of our new products and I'm having issues (actual or perceived??!!) with the SWF export and PDF creation.  I'm placing animations and video in the INDD, exporting it as an SWF (with the text option as Flash Classic Text) and then opening the SWF (not importing to a word doc or anything, just opening the SWF) with Acrobat using the advanced options to import the video resources and to enable the content when the page is opened.  I then save the file as a PDF.  In the PDF everything works as it should, the animations, the buttons, the video plays and so on.  Great.. hmm not quite.
The trouble I am having is that all the content of the SWF when viewed in Acrobat seems to be getting rasterised/flattened - is this correct?  After the SWF is opened, Acrobat indicates no fonts in the fonts tab in the document properties so when the SWF is zoomed in Acrobat, or the saved PDF in Reader, the font gets pixelated and the document is not searchable/text can not be highlighted.  The images are not selectable either - it is as if the entire page has been flattened to one image.  Is there a way to stop this so that the SWF opened with Acrobat retains the font and individual images like a normal PDF?  Do I have to open the SWF in Flash first to set some parameters or something?  Is there something I am doing wrong when exprting the SWF from Indesign?  I think I have tried about every possible export combination.  When I open the .HMTL (exported at the same time as the SWF from Indesign) in a browser, the same happens.  All the animations work but the text appears to be rasterised/flattened/not searchable.  Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology.
I have tried importing the SWF back into another new INDD and exporting that as an interactive PDF but then the video does not work.  I suppose I could try exporting all the individual animations as SWFs, importing them all and trying to get them to work with the video but I can see that will take quite some time and does not seem to be a guaranteed solution from what I have read on the forums - video playback being the issue.
Another problem is that when the SWF, or saved PDF, is zoomed in Acrobat/Reader between approx 150% and 210% a thick white border appears in the document and the content is squashed into the middle creating a slightly pixelated and narrow page.  When I zoom out from the page I get a small white line on the right hand border at around 70% zoom.  Please see images.  Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
On another, sort of related topic, my timing panel went blank yesterday and was not showing any animations in documents that it had been used to order and synch animations on page load as well as new documents.  The panel was blank.  I updated to V8.0.1 and the panel sprang back into life - hope that helps anyone else finding the same problem.
I am not very familiar with Indesign/Acrobat/Flash so I guess all the above could be what I'm doing or I could be asking  really dumb questions - apologies from a newbie.
    Best,
    Emily

    Hi All,
I have now pretty much solved all the issues by creating the SWF in Flash rather than Indesign.  I would advise anyone looking to create an interative PDF with animation and interactivity to go with Flash from the start.  While Flash is a little more involved to create the same effects as Indesign, the extra time taken will ensure a more controllable and better looking PDF in terms of text quality, scalability and so on.  Plus you will not spend days trying to get video to work along side imported SWF etc in Indesign.  One of the best controls in Flash is being able to set the stage.scaleMode for the document so the PDF still looks crisp when zooming, no white borders etc.  So, create the .fla, export to .SWF, open the .SWF with Acrobat, modify the advanced settings to enable start on page load and save as a PDF.  If you don't know Flash, I didn't a couple of days ago, watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube.. buttons, tweens, embedding video and you'll be ready.  Don't be put off by ActionScript, there are really handy Code Snippets in CS6 that do all the heavy lifting for you.
    Sorry Indesign!
    Best,
    Em

  • IPad, Acrobat Reader, Content (text and pictures) no longer showing, just blank pages

    Hi,
I have a user who successfully opened a .pdf attachment from outlook mail and then opened it in Acrobat Reader on the iPad and then edited it and moved it to a created folder.
Everything was working fine and the user highlighted text in the .pdf document too.
What then happened is when the user subsequently opened the file, the highlights were shown but not the content (text and pictures).
I checked they had the latest version via the apps store updates and noted there had recently been an update which had been applied.
I did check also in the diagnostics to see if there were any acrobat files, but there were none, I also turned on 'send diagnostics' in case this this will help in the future.
I rebooted the iPad by pressing and holding the power and home buttons until the apple logo appeared.
Checked again to see if I could view the .pdf  content (it's around 8.5 MB file with 32 pages), still nothing showing apart from the yellow highlights that the user had done.
From within Acrobat Reader on the iPad I chose to open the file in iBooks to see if I could read it there.  I could successfully open the file in iBooks and the front page thumbnail was showing (I did note that in Acrobat reader the thumbnail was white).
I found the email with attachment and opened it again in Acrobat Reader and it opens correctly, suggesting somehow the previous copy had become damaged?  I have now saved this good copy over the top of the existing bad copy and all is OK except that the user has lost the highlights previously made.
Can you give me some idea of how this file has become broken in Acrobat Reader on the iPad and how I can avoid it happening again.
    Many Thanks.

    Thanks for replying.
This is the first time it has happened, the user has several folders containing files (on their iPad), (some .pdf's with additional highlights) these files are typically company agm board packs so contain pages of text and photo's too.
I put it down the fact that when I checked the app store for updates there had recently been an update and the user had not rebooted their iPad for some time, hence some of the underlying adobe reader files were perhaps between versions.
I don't know how you handle files when performing an update, do you close the app, flush files from memory and do a clean update?
I can confirm that the .pdf file had not been sent  as an email attachment after having added the highlights.
Because the acrobat document contains so many pictures (32 pages and 8.5MB) when scrolling through it takes several seconds for some pages to appear, and others with text and pictures quite a while for the text to become sharp, I presume this is because the Acrobat Reader cannot open the 8.5MB file in one go and has to keep swapping it out of memory.  Having reached the end if I scroll back to the beginning it takes 10's of seconds before the first page re-appears, otherwise it's just a white page.  Interestingly in iBooks the pages appear almost immediately when viewing.
The iPad in question is model MD368B/A, 64GB, Software Version 7.1.1 (11D201) and has 28GB Memory available.  Usage tells me Adobe Reader is taking 328MB and is version 11.3.1
I have just finally browsed back to recent documents, opened 2 or 3 other documents and then this one again (from recent) and it is now broken, just shows white pages (and on the thumbnail too) with my test highlights. so I can now apparently reproduce it.
Hope this all helps you re-produce

  • Form designing for compatibility between Acrobat Reader 7 and Acrobat Professional

I have designed a Form using LiveCycle Designer 7.0. It contains a few subforms and lot of javascripting. One of the javascript logic I am using is to display a subform when a user clicks a radio button and hide it when the user clicks another radio button. The subform contains Text field, Numeric field, Rectangle, Line, Button. This worked well with Acrobat Reader 7.
After I installed Acrobat Professional 7, my form breaks. I did a quick test to see where it breaks and came out with the following conclusion.
    1. If the subForm contains an Image, Line, Rectangle or Circle control, the subForm rendering throws error (Adobe Acrobat 7.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close) when I click on the radio button to display the subform.
    2. If the subForm contains Text control, it is displayed even if subform is invisible.
    3. If the subForm contains Checkbox, Radio, Dropdown list, List Box, Button, Submit By Email, Submit, Print Form, Reset Form; these controls are never displayed even if subform is visible.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue?

    Hi Dave,
    Thanks for the response.
I need some clarification. When you say 7.0.5 version, are you expecting 7.0.5 version of Reader or Professional?
    Here's the steps I followed:
I originally had Adobe Designer version 7, 0, 041126, 0 and Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 and everything worked great.
Now I have uninstalled Designer and Reader and installed
Acrobat Professional Tryout. This installs Acrobat Professional version 7.0.0 and Adobe Designer version 7, 0, 041126, 0 (which is the same as above). Now the same forms which were working earlier are not working as expected.
Please note that I have NOT installed Acrobat Reader 7.0.5. How do I find out what version of Reader does Designer user for PDF preview?
If I separately download Acrobat Reader 7.0.5, how do I tell Designer to use that version for PDF preview?
    Thanks,
    Satish
