Acrobat X Pro (10 and lower) won't start on Windows 7 (64-bit)
Hello, does anyone know why Acrobat X Pro (10 and lower) won't start on Windows 7 (64-bit)? It just doesn't respond whether I try to open files with it or double-click to start the program. Re-installation and Repair doesn't help. I had the same issue with the previous versions of Acrobat on this computer.

Ditto to all of the above. Acrobat Pro was working fine until a day or two ago, then kaput. Reader still functions. I have Win 7 (64bit), CS6 Design and Web Premium. Anyone with any new ideas?
I don't seem to have an alm.log file, but I do have the amt3.log, see below.

LR 2.5 won't start in Windows 7 64 bit
Hi,
I did a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit today and installed LR 2.5 64 bit. When LR is launched out of the installer it opens just fine the first time.
Any time I try and open it after that it doesn't open at all. If I have the task manager open I can see lightroom.exe appear for a second or less and go away.
There are no errors in the event log at all related to lightroom.
Interestingly if I right click and run Light Room as an admin it opens up just fine.
I have deleted all my preference and done a full unintall, reinstall of LR. No luck.
Any ideas?

PaulWell that is strange... the user was an admin and everything. For whatever reason specifically applying permissions to the user worked.

Mac Pro - crashed and now won't start up, stripes on screen + kernel panic?
My computer apparently crashed while the screensaver was up (I was away for 10 or so mins, just Firefox and World of Warcraft in windowed mode running), as it was showing a black screen with a fuzzy whitish line along the top and was completely unresponsive. Unusual, but nothing to freak out about.. right?
So I did the on switch turn off/turn on routine and as soon as anything shows on the screen, I've got these black + white horizontal bars/stripes along the top 1/4 of my screen. The Apple Logo and the spinning progress bar have little fuzzy red spots on 'em. That's when it's time to freak out, as we're in "my computer done broke itself" territory. A few seconds of fuzzy progress bar and we get the wonderful "You need to restart your computer" message.
Fine.. restart.. same thing.
Reset the PRAM and SMC. Same thing.
Can't start up from external disks.. it just gives the same stripes + message.
I'm running a detailed hardware test (the hardware test loads but with the same stripes at the top and annoying blue/red vertical ones in the background to boot), and it's been running for about 80 minutes and is only 60% of the way through.
Anything else I can do, or do I have to drag the heavy thing to an Apple store and leave it there for a month? How in the world does a computer go from "working fine" to "completely broken" in 10 minutes?More details:
The regular/non-extended Hardware Test returned no problems, despite taking hours for what was supposed to be a 3-5 minute test. I haven't dared run the extended.
I also tried removing third-party RAM and using the original configuration, then just the third-party and no Apple, etc.. It's not the RAM, as the problem is exactly the same.
I'm going to call up Apple support when I can, but just looking for other things I can check or possibly do until then, or just insight on what the problem could be.
Is it most likely the graphics card? Could it be an issue with the core hardware? -
Indesign CS2 won't start in Windows 7 64 bit?

I just got a new computer and I am having problems with Indesign.
When I try to start it I just get a message that says Indesign quit working and have to close it.
No automatic fix or other information.
I had it installed and working in Windows 7 32bit with no problems.
Does anyone have any ideas?

In principle, there is absolutely no reason why 32-bit software wouldn't run in a 64-bit OS. A lot of software written for 32-bit Windows XP does. Current editions of Photoshop are installed twice, in a 64-bit version allowing more memory to be used by the application, and a 32-bit version providing compatibility with 32-bit plugins.
The one exception to this rule of thumb is anything remotely hardware-related, and software requiring low-level access to the system. Device drivers will have to be 64-bit.
There may be other issues, such as tighter access restrictions for program folders and the Windows registry, which were first introduced in Windows Vista. Most well-written software will handle this correctly, though. Indesign seems to. I have not done extensive testing yet, but on first glance, things are working fine. Getting Indesign to run - which this thread seemed to be about, considering the title - certainly was no problem at all.

Satellite C55-A-1L0 won't start into Windows 8
Hey guys.
I hope you can help me a little.
I have a Toshiba Satellite C55-A-1L0 here and it won't start into Windows 8.
I turn it on, the Toshiba welcoming screen appears, then I get a message on a black screen saying "checking media (fail)" and after a little while "no bootable device. Please restart"
I checked the BiOS and it doesn't seem to see the Hard Disk (says HDD- none) and even in the list of boot order I get a list with the DVD drive with exact name but for HDD not.
I tried to do a recocery with the F12 button and I get the list to choosw from where I want to boot but selecting harddisk doesn't work.
So I thought I'd try a linux live distribution to see where my hard disk is and to save my data (after some settings in the BIOS - boot mode CMS) but I cannot find it there too. (I have a mtab and fstab file, would it help if I posted it in here?)
Is my HDD broken? Can I try something else?

Using diagnostic tools they can check if problem is HDD or HDD controller.
On this virtual way we cannot say for sure what the problem is. In my opinion you should not waste your time because you cannot do much if there is hardware related issue.
Last step you can try is to set BIOS to default settings and check it again. -

I purchased Adobe Acrobat XI Pro - Student and Teacher Edition but cannot activate it even after it has deactivated and replaced my old Acrobat 8. How do I get a serial number and activate the product?
I have the same problem. Have paid. Messages say I have downloaded it but the file is inaccessible apparently download is somewhere on my hard disk. How do I find it?? Is there not help at an Adobe phone service. If so what is the number to call??

Word, Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and PDF Maker
I am still using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and I also have Office 2010 installed on my Windows 7 laptop. Is there a way to get PDF Maker to work in Office? Right now when I open Word for example the PDF tab does not appear anywhere. I tried running the repair feature in Acrobat but nothing has changed.
I believe Office needs to be installed first then Acrobat so PDF Maker can be installed. I did this intially when I had Office 2007 but then I unintalled it and installed Office 2010 and I'm guessing that is why things aren't working. Using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and Adobe InDesign
I was wondering if my MB would be capable of running Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and Adobe InDesign. My MB has 4GB of RAM, when in Parallels it I have the RAM allocated to 1GB for XP and 3GB for OS X. Currently, I have 84GB or hard drive remaining. Would these two programs operate okay on my MB? Also, is it possible for me to install them on a separate HD so that it does not hog space on my MB?
would I be able to install the programs on an external hard drive so it doesn't hog my Mac's hard drive space?
if buy the whole CS4 design Premium Suite, would I be able to select which components to install?

Tried to open a pdf document with Acrobat XI Pro Trial and sign in popped up , I keyed in my username and password but it doesnt respond its like grey with the four dots rotating forever. Any solution Please ?????

How are you connected to the internet? Are you behind a particularly secure corporate firewall? Are you on Mac or Windows? Do you have any anti-malware software running on your machine that may be preventing applications other than your browser from connecting to the internet?
You may try to follow the steps below:
1.Close the Creative Cloud application.
2.Navigate to the OOBE folder.
Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
Mac OS: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE folder
3.Delete the opm.db file.
4.Launch Creative Cloud.

Acrobat X Pro hangs when making PDF. Using on Windows 7 64. Just started hanging. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Installed update. Once it hangs, must go into crtl, alt, delete to force close.
As a debugging step, try printing to the Adobe PDF printer. If that fails, repeat with print-to-file selected. Assuming the print succeeds, open the file in Distiller to complete the creation of the PDF. If you get the PDF, then check to see if AcroTray is properly working as a background task.
