Acrobat X word form to PDF

Acrobat X does not convert text boxes that I created in a Word document into a functional text box in a PDF. Can Acrobat XI make a complete conversion?

  • Forms: Translating Word Form to PDF Form

I have created a fill-in form in Microsoft Word (protected). Does anyone know how to then make it a fill-in form in Acrobat? Years (and years) ago, Word had an icon on the toolbar that you simply clicked. Acrobat help says use the "Acrobat toolbar." Help me on that? I could probably recreate the darn thing in Acrobat, but it's much easier for me to work in Word. Thanks.

I am new to this and trying to do the same thing.  For interactive forms you save the word file to pdf first.  Then, using the forms tool you create the form.  Acrobat searches the fields and identifies what it thinks are the interactive fields.  From there you can go to a host of editing tools to modify, add or delete fields.

  • Word form  to pdf form fields conversion

Does anyone have any expereince with converting form Word
    form with active
x controls to pdf form fields - any help would be appreciated

No. What you can do, though, is after you edit your file create a new static PDF from it, open your old PDF and then use the Replace Pages command, selecting the new PDF file as the one to insert. This will replace the underlying PDF content while keeping all the form fields in tact. You then might need to adjust them a bit, but it's much less work then re-doing the entire form.

  • When I cut and paste a word form a pdf file into the search window I get wavy lines, why is this

I am editing a document and wish to look up words and other information. When I select and copy a word from my pdf document and paste it into firefox's search window, I do not get the word but wavy lines instead. How can I remedy this? Example: I am trying to look up Carl Jung and copied this name but when I try pasting it I get this wavy line: ␣␣␣␣␣␣␣␣␣␣

You’re omitting essential information here, namely how exactly do you paste into the message you’re composing in Mail when it crashes. Do you paste by ctrl-clicking (or right-clicking) and choosing Paste from the contextual menu maybe? Try doing Edit > Paste (⌘V) instead; I bet Mail won’t crash if you do that.
And I wouldn’t be surprised if you also have a plug-in or an input manager or a contextual menu item or something like that that has a bearing on this. In the Finder, go to each of the following folders (if they exist). What do you see there?
    /Library/Contextual Menu Items/
    /Library/InputManagers/
    /Library/Mail/Bundles/
    ~/Library/Contextual Menu Items/
    ~/Library/InputManagers/
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles/
To make accurately reporting this information easier, you may open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, type the following command (you can just copy it here and paste it in Terminal), and press <Return>. You can then copy the output of that command from Terminal and paste it in your reply to this post:
    ls -1 /Library/Contextual\ Menu\ Items/ /Library/InputManagers /Library/Mail/Bundles ~/Library/Contextual\ Menu\ Items/ ~/Library/InputManagers ~/Library/Mail/Bundles
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • Acrobat distiller won't open file from word to create pdf

I can choose acrobat from word and print pdf -- but acrobat pro 9 gives me an error message when I try to select a file from word to create a pdf. I can print acrobat from word but not from acrobat
The error message just says can't open, check if you have read permissions for this file.  I've been doing this, but now it won't select a file from word.
    Thanks.

Sorry Bill, It's Word 7.  I can create an acrobat pdf by choosing it when I print in word but if I try to create a pdf from acrobat - from the file - it won't work.  I get the same error.  Can't open  do you have read priviledges.  Not sure what that is or if there is a setting someplace that got checked or unchecked.
    Thanks.

  • Converting Word Form & Textfields

    Hi,
I am using Acorbat Pro 9 and try to convert an existing Microsoft Word form to pdf. The word file contains text, checkboxes and text input fields.
The checkboxes are converted correctly and the plain text, too.
But the text input boxes are missing after conversion?
Is there an option to include them? The word file is perfectly designed and adding all the fields again is rather much work.
What I do not understand is, that check boxes are converted correctly but text fields are not?
    Thanks for your help,
    Christian

It's separate program which bundles with Acrobat Pro and above.
    Be aware that
    - For Designer import to work correctly, the fields in word document should be real fields and not underlines/underscores.
    - Designer created different kind of forms from what Acrobat does. Both generate forms but with different technologies. So depending on what you do next with the form, you might have to do more work.

  • Word bricht bei pdf Erstellung ab!

    Hallo Zusammen!
    Andreas

Dein Problem lässt bei mir viele Fragen offen:
    1. In welchem Grafikformat sind deine Grafiken?
    2. Wie sind die nach Word gekommen? Copy and Paste oder Einfügen > Bild > Aus Datei...? Letzteres wäre der einzige sichere Weg.
    3. Wie werden die PDFs erstellt? DOC in Acrobat öffnen? PDF erstellen aus Acrobat aus Word Datei? PDF-Maker in Word? Drucken aus Word in eine PS? Gar ein nicht-Adobe-Programm?
    4. Welches Operating System?
    5. Hast Du schon probiert nicht alle Grafiken zu löschen, sondern nur Schrittweise einzeln um dann festzustellen, ob es generell an Grafiken liegt, oder ob das Problem einer spezifischen Grafik zugeordnet werden kann?

  • I'm having trouble converting a Word Form to a PDF form because the table cells are importing incorrectly. How can I fix it?

I am converting a form from Word to PDF. The form includes several tables and the tables are converting with weird lines where the corners meet. I've tried everything. I've even retyped a portion of the form and tried importing it but it still had the weird lines. I'd rather not recreate the form in PDF because it's not short and I already have a perfectly good form to import. Any suggestions?

What version of Word? What version of Acrobat? How exactly are you converting the file?

  • Form Field in word forms to be exported to pdf form

    Dear all,
Within our company, all templates for documents are existing in word .doc format and will be edited in word as well.
I would like to add a form field within these word  templates which will be recognised by Acrobat 8 Pro automatically as a form field for a digital signature.
I would like to do this within the word form, because I don't want to add the numerous (up to 10) signature fields manually with the Acrobat form
each time I export this file to .pdf.
This is necessary in order to certify a document with a visible signature and to allow more colleagues to sign this document as well after my certification.
Does someone know a workaround or even a solution?
    Thanks in advance!
       Matt

The auto field wizard does not catch all fields or types of fields (signature is one of them), does not keep exclusionary groups, and does not add the optional values. The wizard can have a hard time recognizing check boxes and radio buttons.
So even after you run the wizard there is a lot of manual clean up to perform. I just find it easier to create the form fields as needed. I also use a lot of field naming for automation processing of groups of fields.
Open Office does not do signature, but it keeps the options for combo/drop downs and radio buttons/check boxes.

  • Convert Word 2007 Form to PDF Form not creating dropdown list fields

I created a new word document with all my text fields with lines and 5 dropdown list fields with all their values.  Works great in Word 2007.  When I convert it to a pdf form (Acrobat Pro X) none of the dropdown list fields get created.  The text fields do, but no drop downs.  If I have to create them all manually in Acrobat, what's the point of doing all the work in Word?

The Word conversion to PDF and Forms Wizard do not detect and do not know how to complete a drop down box. I do not even create the form fields in Word as there is no transfer to the PDF. I also find the Wizard lacking in proper naming and grouping. It is just easier and more efficient to add the fields manually or with JavaScript tools.
The only product that can do this is apache OpenOffice when an author creates the from body and form fields in the Writer application and then exports to a PDF.

  • URGENT:  convert pdf Form to Word Form

Ihave a filled in pdf form and a blank form and I need to convert each to a Word form. acro pro 7 If I had vers 8.0 pro, would the steps be any different?
what is the fastest way to do this? The boss says the pdf form is not flexible enough but I cannot ask her more at this moment.

As long as you have been using Acrobat, I am surprised that your boss would have such a question. I thought of one possibility if the form fields are not retained in WORD, but don't know if it will work. You could try to save as HTML (I usually have best luck with HTML 3) and then open that in WORD. That might give you a back door to keep the form fields in much the same way opening a HTML form in Acrobat retains the form fields. Just a thought if the WORD save does not work.
In terms of flexibility, it is a simple matter to create the form (without fields) in WORD (the master document), make changes, and create a new PDF. Then the modified pages can simply be used to replace those in the old form (don't forget to work on a copy). I guess that is the second idea that is probably the route you were planning to take. Again, bood luck with the boss and with WORD. Bill

  • Microsoft Word Form Fields and Adobe Acrobat X

Using a Microsoft Word document where form fields are protected - if you save in Adobe Acrobat X -  - you only see your changes - all the old data is lost.
Acrobat does not seem to have a solution.

You have the option to print the Word form and data to a PDF.
You have the option to use OOO.org, that export to PDF forms.
If you are talking about updating the content of the form and not the fields, create a new PDF under a different name and then replace the PDF page in the PDF.

  • Word2010 form to PDF - check boxes aren't recognized by Acrobat 10

    Hello fellows!
I've encountered a weird problem - when converting a form created in Word 2010 to PDF and running the field auto-detection wizard in Acrobat 10, the check boxes originally created in Word are recognized by Acrobat as text fields and not controls. Tried replacing the word 2010 check box with a "legacy" check box - no difference. Any suggestions?
    Thank you in advance!!!

    hey rombanks,
Did you ever find a satisfactory solution to your problem?  Being a forms newbie, I naively designed a beautifully formatted, complex, multi-page form in Word 2010, with checkboxes everywhere in tables.
Then when I imported it into Acrobat X forms wizard, it translated 90% of the checkboxes into text fields, and some into radio buttons.
I started fixing it in Acrobat, replacing the "text" boxes with checkboxes, but the auto-sizing and alignment commands don't work very well and it's super difficult to get all the new checkboxes to line up perfectly and look professional the way they do in Word.  VERY time-consuming.
Ugh.  I'd really love it if I didn't have to start over from scratch and could "run a script" as some have suggested..."Another option is to use a script after running the wizard to convert those files to check-boxes." - Gilad D
    Thanks for any suggestions!!

Can anyone help with this - do I have to uninstall Reader and then reinstall?

I have had a trial version of Acrobat X1 Pro - I have decided not to buy at this stage - for some time it has been conflicting with opening PDF docs after "saving as" from word 2007 - I uninstalled Pro X1 and now when I "save as" PDF from word 2007 to PDF it will save the document as a PDF but will not open the document to display after publishing - I have to got to where the file has been saved to view the new PDF document - this is really annoying - do I have to delete adobe reader and reinstall it - adobe needs to look at this conflict with acrobat pro as I have even gone it to properties and tried to have adobe reader as the default PDF program - the main issue is that I cannot view the PDF after publishing it from word 2007
