Acrobat XI issues

My initial installation of Acrobat XI seemed stable and worked. Lately since my 10.0.3 upgrade it crashes my computer when opening PDF files.  I am running Windows 7 Professional in 64-bit mode.  I get a blue screen of death, with some error messages that disappear quickly. One error message states something about checking for software installs recently and looking at them. My Adobe 10.0.3 was the only recent software upgrade.  Any thoujghts on how to remedy this or do others have the same issues?
Thanks.

yes -But in a fully current mac - everytime I open a document in acrobat - it lingers for a second and then shuts off, leaving an 'adobe software license agreement' quit or accept 'cs6 creative cloud memebership box - see attached .png. Accept button doesnt' work and drop down menu has nothing in it. I've chatted a couple times with 'adobe support' today but kept getting dropped from the chat. Had to go to work and will be trying again with adobe chat in a minute.
ANy suggestions - please share.
thanks

  • Satellite L350D-12M - acrobat reader issue

When i install acrobat reader to my laptop it takes over most of my files and stops all the other files from working.

    Hi
To be honest I dont understand your acrobat reader issue.
In most cases acrobat installation should run smoothly without any problems.
If something went wring during the installation then remove the acrobat reader from the OS, then clean the windows and registry using the CCleaner and then try to install this software again

When I look at the formatting on this email it is "plain text".  The sender is telling me this problem occurred  because I don't have the latest version of Acrobat yet none of our other employees have Acrobat (just Reader) on their PC's and they receive this email as PDF attachment in a zip file.  I am running Acrobat 8.3.1 professional and Reader 10 and my email is Outlook 2002 SP3.   I wasn't aware that Acrobat has the ability to change email formatting inside Outlook.  Is what they are telling me true?  I am thinking it is the formatting on their end.
Has anyone else encountered this and is there any truth in what the vendor is telling me?
    thanks
    Andy

I am looking at your post and will try to address anything obvious. One thing you might want to do is to remove any email addresses and such that might be an issue for folks being posted in a public forum (just replace with <email addr>).
It is a mult-part message, but if this is all you got then there does not appear to be an attachment. A sample of what should be there if there is a PDF attached should be something like:
    ------_=_NextPart_002_01CAE6FC.2FB010F2--
    ------_=_NextPart_001_01CAE6FC.2FB010F2
    Content-Type: application/octet-stream;
        name="filename.pdf"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    Content-Description: filename.pdf
    Content-Disposition: attachment;
        filename="filename.pdf"
    JVBERi0xLjQNJeLjz9MNCjYgMCBvYmo8PC9IWzk5N
The first line was the end of the previous part and then the PDF was sent as another part and in this case was base64 encoded. I do not see that type of result in your e-mail listing and it would appear that you did not have attachment, unless it is in part you did not include.

  • Acrobat 9: Issue with Graphics Looking Distorted

Hi all. I'm sure that the answer to this is very simple and I am doing something ridiculous ...
I use Microsoft Publisher (2007 version) to create documents, and then convert them to PDF using Acrobat 9. Recently, I have noticed that many of the graphics elements that I use are looking distorted when viewed onscreen. They print out looking as smooth as they did in the original Publisher file, but are a lot less so onscreen. Seeing as many people read PDFs onscreen now, this is a bit of a worry.
I have tried saving graphics as JPEGs, GIFs, PNGs and TIFFs (in PhotoShop CS5) and get the same issue each time. Also, the quality between one save and another can be extremely variable. In the example I have attached (the top section is a screen grab from the Publisher file, the bottom when convereted), once or twice when saving the rotated image looked utterly dreadful (as in completely usable). However, when I would save it again a few minutes later, without having adjusted anyting, it looked a lot better.
In the example below, you can see our company logo and also the lines around the photograph don't look great. (The rest is just text, which always looks great.)
Any settings I am missing ... other PDFs I have seen always look great.
I have set the the PDF conversation to High Quality, so am not sure where I am going wrong.

  • Adobe Acrobat Toolbar issues in firefox browser

    Hi all,
Since a recent Adobe update I have been having issues with reading pdf documents within firefox 3.6.20.
Basically to summarize I like have the Adobe Toolbar and always had the display in read mode by default disabled.
However if I disable this the toolbar doesn't appear fully only partially with nothing at the top only to the left toolbar which has the thumbnail icon, search command and attachments.
To get the full top toolbar back the only way I have found is to enable read mode.
Then when the pdf appears in brower to click the adbe icon on the reader toolbar and then the extended toolbar is fully back.
    Whats gone wrong?
Seems to it with both adobe reader X and Adobe acrobat X pro
    Thanks,

Sounds like a problem with the localstore.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder.
Do you have (security) software that might protect and restore an older copy of this file?
Note that the default position of the Home button is at the far right of the Navigation Toolbar and the combined Reload/Stop/Go button is positioned at the right end side of the location bar where you also have the star to bookmark web pages.

  • Acrobat Saving issue or Product Question

I am developing a .net c# software to be used in house. I have Adobe Professional 8. I am able to put the pdf file into a form using the acrobat.dll file that comes with professional and this allows me to save the filled forms locally and also print them which is exactly what I need except for one thing. I'm going to have about 20 users in the building use this program and it's my understanding that distributing the software with the appropriate dll's won't work. Every user will have to have a copy of Professional on there machine in order to make it work. This would be very expensive and I doubt if I could sell it to upper management.
The reader activex module works perfectly except you can't save the files programmatically you have to use the damn save button on the toolbar which is unacceptable. I can't have users saving and naming forms anything and anywhere they want to.
I understand the need for Adobe not allowing people to have access to local hard drives on the internet, but my software will go no where near a web page.
My question is, is there a product that Adobe makes that would allow me to save filled pdf files locally.
I could even use the ability to save just the data, if I could read it in later. (Anyone have a clue or a bright Idea).
I would rather not use a third party control, but I may be forced to.
    Robert

It may be possible to setup a save button on the screen that uses JavaScript to do the job. I am not sure, but it might be a solution to your problem.
Before you go too much further, it might be worth taking a bit of time to read the EULA with regards to the user rights to be sure your use is within the limits of the EULA. The EULA does not look at forms in the sense of web distribution, but in terms of using the form. I think it also is in terms of number of uses.
Purchasing the extended rights server is probably not a reasonable solution for you at the price that it typically costs. For a small office, it would probably be cheaper to buy everyone Acrobat.
As long as the EULA is not a limiting feature, then look at alternatives such as JavaScript for saving the forms. I am a bit concerned about the automatic nature that Acrobat may have some issues with. Also, depending on the network saving to a network drive may be an issue - several folks have had problems with that.
I probably am not helping in understanding you need either, but at least it is another twist to consider.

  • Adobe Reader/Acrobat forms issues!

This is a long one, and I know it's been posted before, but I just wanted to try again anyway.
I've just created a form using Adobe Designer, one that contains fields that someone can fill out when the form is open with Adobe Reader. The form I've created specifically is for a medical practice, and the first few fields are the doctor's last name, first name, and middle initial. Is there any way that, when I click Save As, a file name is automatically created in the Save As box that contains the last name, first name, and middle initial? I'd like the file name to look like this: LastName-FirstNameMiddleInitial.
Also, this is a form that the people who work at this practice will be using regularly. After the doctor's name fields are a few fields for the date, time in, and time out. Right now, we'd like the date to look like this: 07-16-2008. We'd also like the time in and time out to look like this: 12:00. I'd like it so that, if some data entry person at this medical clinic is tying in the date, and, say, they type in the date as 07/16/2008, it is automatically formatted to 07-16-2008 with the hyphens. Same with the time. Everyone types things in differently, and I'd love to know what I need to do so that it's automatically converted to the date/time design I listed above.
The form also contains an electronic signature field. The purpose of the signature field is mainly to expand on the services we offer in terms of going paperless. We want to help our clients STAY paperless, which means preventing the need to print off more paper. This form I'm working on is for a medical practice and is simply a doctor's form, with field for the doctor's name, date/time, a field for any info the doctor would like to input, and then the electronic signature field.
After the PDF is created, it is more than likely saved, which presents other problems, as I've now learned you can't save with Adobe Reader.
As far as looking up data on the form in the future is concerned, I'm pretty sure that's a big yes. I don't know that this particular PDF would be updated constantly, but I'm sure it will need to be retrieved at some point. How can the data be inputed so it can be retrieved from a database?
I've heard some talk about JavaScript in regards to this issue, as well. How exactly do I go about providing JavaScript? I know how to create a button in Designer, but I've had little experience with JavaScript. I've downloaded a program (PF Merge?) that might allow me to link the form I've created to a database, but I'm not sure how it works yet. Is that what you were referring to as far as our comments about an SQL database is concerned? Is there another way I can create a connection to a database, say, a slightly easier way?
    Help!

Interesting.  I did just do the Reduce File Size and extended the document and there were no dialog boxes when I saved my data.  The file size got larger instead of smaller and I received the message at the end of the Reduce File Size cycle that said " Enforcement of compatability to an earlier version of Acrobat has increased the size of some images".  There is an image in the file, not one that I added, but from the original document.  No change to the image either.  No biggie to me.  As long as my users can fill out the form and come back to it later to make changes, I'm happy!
Thank you.  I think that solved it!

  • Acrobat Licensing Issue

My HD crashed, requiring me to perform a fresh reload of Windows.
Of course, in such a circumstance, I was unable to release my Acrobal 8 Standard license prior to the reload.  Now I cannot activate my license.  Some blather about too many activations.  Calling the licensing tech support results in HOURS of waiting, while I listen to zen-like music.  No answer!
From my reading on these boards, this is a common problem.  Is there any way to get my license released so I can reactivate?  I cannot sit on hold for eternity waiting for some tech support droid in india to answer the phone.  Is this my only option?
What's with Adobe's Gestapo-like activation scheme?  Even Microsoft's Office has more grace than this.

I called 866-772-3623.  None of the stated options are correct, so don't press any buttons and you'll be considered a "rotary dial" caller.
Hopefully they'll answer while your still young.
You'll tell them that your HD crashed, making it impossible to release your license.  The relicensing process is done "via telephone" so you'll need to select telephone as your activation option in Acrobat.  Acrobat will display a long series of numbers, which you'll read to the tech on the phone, and he'll give you a long series of numbers in return to type in.  Do this in real-time in case a number gets lost in translation.
I called at 7:45am Central Time, about 15 minutes before the advertised opening time.  I waited 10 minutes and the process itself took 8 minutes.  I had to register the software, which took the majority of the 8 minutes.
Calling in the evening is a complete waste of time.  I was on hold for two hours yesterday before I said F it and hung up.
Microsoft activation, by comparison, is far far smarter.  It knows if you are trying to reactivate the same computer and won't make you call in.  They also give some grace if the prior activation was a long time ago.  Adobe does neither of these things.  Morons.
I actually used a pirated copy of Photoshop for a couple of years due to activation issues on my PURCHASED copy because I could never reach tech supp.  I finally purcahsed an upgrade to CS2 which came with a new liecnse key so I'm legit once again.
It's pretty sad that one is forced to use pirated software because Adobe is so bloody indifferent toward their users.
Anyway, good luck with your activation.

  • Acrobat Toolbar Issue

We are currently using Adobe Acrobat X Pro in a Windows 7, Citrix Xendesktop environment.  I believe our engineer installed an older version of Acrobat then upgraded to X.  The IE Add-in for Acrobat is causing a number of issues with other IE add-ins and after deleting a registry key the other add-in issues were resolved.  The key is below.  Is this a Adobe Acrobat X key or from an older version of Adobe. I am finding mixed information on other forums.
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Settings\{47833539-D0C5-41 25-9FA8-0819E2EAAC93}
    Thanks

It is installed on Win 7 - which is where I had the Acrobat 7 Pro installed.  The Acrobat 8 installed easily on Win 7, while the old Acrobat 7 Pro was not so easy to get working with Win 7.  The 8 is working though I do notice other minor glitches with it - in addition to not being able to have the Touchup Object tool on the toolbar unless all the tools are selected (I cannot uncheck other tools and still have that tool show - even if it is checked).
I also notice that when using the Text or Object Touchup tools they do not work if I am in certain modes (this was not the case with Acrobat 7).  If I am working in a form (which I usually am) and am in the selection mode (Hand) and enter text into a form field to test it, then hit the text touchup tool and try to change some text (on the page - not the form field text), nothing happens I have to go to a different mode and then select the text to touchup.  Minor - but different from the older version.

  • Acrobat download issue

I had purchased Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard and I still have the product key that was sent to me, but I no longer have the link in my email to re-download the software. Can you please help me with this issue?

    Try http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
Download the Acrobat 9 Pro version then enter your Std serial and you will get the Standard version licensed on your machine.
Ensure that you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page first otherwise the links won't work.

  • Acrobat Memory Issues

Here is my problem. When I print from Acrobat on 2 of the PC's we have here, they start getting slower. Now if looked through all my processes running, but nothing says its taking up a significant amount of RAM, but my memory usage will be at something like 1.2 gigs! Now if i kill the spoolsv.exe operation, the memory usage goes back down to ~300mb. But after printing a couple more pdf's, its back up tot ~1gig!. I don't have this problem printing emails from Thunderbird or with AccessTools to our Xerox 8830 machines, just with acrobat. I have update all the print drivers. I have ran the updates for acrobat. Still has issues.
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this??

It may be an issue with the size of your TEMP folder. Try emptying it. That may help.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Issue

I bought Adobe Creative Suite 4 last year, used it without issue until recently. Recently i had a desktop computer hang issue which i decided to use the ACER RECOVERY to reinstall the VISTA OS. Along with that i reinstalled Microsoft Office 2007 and my Adobe CS4. But now i have a serious issue, everytime i tried to convert any of the Microsoft documents to PDF, a dialog box pops up stating "Please wait while Windows configures AdAdobe Acrobat 9", very quickly another box pops up stating "Error 1311. Source file not found: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Setup Files\{AC76BA86-1033-F400-7760-000000000004}\Data 1.cab. Verify that the file exists and that yuo can access it. Retry or Cancel". I cannot proceed further which i just have to give up converting the doc to PDF and click cancel. I need help urgently.

My user is having the following issue when running check writer.
I am having an issue when I try and print the Oracle checks. They run fine, but when I click on the view output which usually brings up a pdf screen of my check. Instead gives me 2 blank screens with a question mark icon.
I noticed that Adobe Acrobat 9 was installed the same day I started having the isssue.
Has anyone else had this problem or know if Oracle HRMS R12 is not compatible with Adobe Acrobat 9?Please see (Unable to Load PDF Templates Using XML Publisher Responsibility [ID 1316676.1]).
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Adobe Acrobat 10 Issue

Ever since I updated to OSX 10.9, Adobe Acrobat 10.1.1 and later is behaving very strange. If I click on a pdf file, Acrobat will launch, but will not display the pdf. The only way to make that work is to go into Acrobat and manually open the pdf. There's also issues in using Acrobat to create or manipulate a PDf, in that a lot of the functions of insert page, create PDf from multiple files, and many others don't work.
Adobe has no information about this and I'm seeing that some othes are experiencing the same problem.
Has anyone figured this out yet?

  • Adobe Reader/Acrobat Printing Issues - Weird Fonts / Characters - all versions

    Hi everybody.
I'm experiencing a very nasty issue with both adobe reader (last version) and acrobat.
When I print something with text, i get only strange characters, mostly symbols.
I cannot get out of this, I tried everything.
    Already tried
    1) print as image does not works, it's the same
    2) the box in pdf printer " print only with fonts on pc" is checked
    3) reinstalled both adobe applications
    3) reinstalled printer drivers
    4) i've installed and reinstalled those so called missing fonts but nothing
Next step is to change PDF reader. Any help?

    unfortunately it didn't work.
It's weird how an application (company) like this could not provide those kind of such easy fixes. I'm not expecting updates or so, but at least a troubleshooting paragraph about this specific problem.
This problem is well known, there are plenty of pages talking about it.
I just installed Foxit reader and printed pages were perfect. This demonstrate's Adobe Reader/Acrobat fault.
