Acrobat y FormsCentral

Hi Carsanp1,
Adobe Forms Central is an online subscription service and is offered separately. It is not bundled with Acrobat perpetual license.

  • Getting Error 'Save As PDF Form' in Acrobat XI FormsCentral

I am trying to 'Save as form as PDF Form' in Acrobat XI FormsCentral, and I am getting the error. When I click Yes, nothing happens.

    Hello George,
Thank you for your response. I was attempting to save a form created in FormsCentral as a PDF Form, but I was getting the error.
I have since determined that the file gets saved to AppData\Local\Temp, but could not write there. I added the path to 'Windows Trusted Sites' under Preferences - Security (Enhanced)

  • Can I use Acrobat 11 & FormsCentral to keep info and forms only on my computer or is info kept on a

I'm planning to upgrade to Acrobat XI specifically for the webforms, data collection and payment options using FormsCentral. But I don't want details stored anywhere but on my computer or host server. So I have several questions before I make my decision.
    1) Is there anyway to use the Forms Central Desktop app to save the forms templates to my hard drive, or do I just need to create my own with Acrobat?
    2) Can I just have the responses and payment information sent directly to me and not saved on the FormsCentral server?
    3) If not: Can I delete the responses and payment details from the FormsCentral server?
    4) I need a way to use this information when my computer is not connected to the Internet, so it needs to be on my computer. I'm not always where I can get Internet access, and when I can, it often is a public WiFi  access (I travel full time.)
    5) I write ebooks and training courses. I will have some affiliates promoting my products. I would like to use this system to make it easy for them to make a sale that tells me which affiliate referred the buyer. Is there a way to use Acrobat forms and FormsCentral to do this without relying on the buyer to enter a code? I'm thinking, possibly, of a form they can add to their website that will take the information and send it to my account. I can't quite figure this out.
    Thanks.

Sorry for the delayed response. I had one of those disconnect episodes that is one of my reasons for NOT wanting any of my data accessible only from a cloud service. I'm back on now. But lost almost a full day because of this.
RE: 1) Do you want to create web forms or PDF forms?
From reading the instructions for Acrobat X, I'm hoping to create a PDF form that I can put on the website, have people fill it out, then when they click "submit" it comes to me in an email. I don't know if the term "web forms" implies anything other than that (such as FormsCentral memebership), but since the instruction manual called them webforms with no mention of FormsCentral, it looks like I can do this much without getting involved with that service. I posted the instructions below so you know what I'm referring to (Acrobat X manual)
RE: 2) Do you want to collect data in a table-like format or do you want to receiving filled-out PDF forms directly to your email inbox and you manage your own data?
I'd like to receive the forms by email, then I'll put it into my database. I can make tables or put it in spreadsheets or whatever I want from there.
RE: Without the subscription & with FormsCentral for Acrobat :...
    - You can't create web forms (HTML forms)
There is a save to HTML feature in Acrobat X. When I saved a document with a form to HTML format I could open it with a browser, but the form fields didn't show up. Don't know if that because it really doesn't do this, or if I'm so new at this I screwed it up.
Also, there was some comment about needing a CGI script to collect the information and send it to a database, and that makes sense to me, though I don't know how to use CGI. I have a CGI something or other available through my hosting service. Maybe that's what I need to learn to use.
Here are the instructions for v.X
Home / Using Acrobat X Pro / Forms / Publishing interactive web forms
    Add submit functionality
    Submit Form Selections options
Use the Submit A Form action to send form data to an email address or to a web server by specifying a URL. You can also use the submit button to send other files back to a server or database. For example, you can attach scanned images or files to a form. The files are submitted along with the rest of the form data when you click the Submit button.
If your PDF form contains an email-based submit button, you can use the Distribute workflow to facilitate distributing the form to others.
Select Tools > Forms > Edit, then select Button from the Add New Field list, and create a button.
Double-click the button to open the Button Properties dialog box.
Click the Actions tab, and select Mouse Up from the Select Trigger menu.
Select Submit A Form from the Select Action menu, and then click Add.
In the Submit Form Selections dialog box, type an entry in Enter A URL For This Link:
To send the form data to a web server, enter the destination URL.
To send the form data to an email address, enter mailto: followed by the email address. For example, type mailto:[email protected]
Make additional changes to the available options, and then click OK to close the dialog box.
Change settings on other tabs in the Button Properties dialog box as needed, and then click Close.

  • Does Acrobat 11 & FormsCentral keep info & forms only on my computer or is it only on a cloud server

I'm considering upgrading to Acrobat XI because of the Forms Central features, but I don't want my forms and the info they collect kept on a cloud server for reasons that aren't negotiable. I want to use the forms and responses on a local computer, and be able t ouse the forms in other ways. I suppose I can just create my own forms, but the responses are useless to me if they're on another server.
    1) Can I save the form templates to my hard drive? (my first experience with Forms Central Desktop app suggests that they can't be saved to my hard drive.)
    2) If the repsonses HAVE to be sent to a FormsCentral server, can I download the details to my HD?
    3) Can I delete the responses from the FormsCentral server?

It's possible to do that, but FormsCentral would not be involved in such a case. In order for Reader users to save a filled-in form, they either need to be using Reader 11 and/or the form needs to be Reader-enabled. When a form is Reader-enabled, it allows Reader to do things it otherwise cannot, such as saving a modified document. Reader 11 is unlike previous versions in that certain functionality has been allowed that wasn't allowed before with a non-enabled document.
There are a number of common problems people encounter when sending by email. The big two are lack of security and relatively low reliability. Sending by email is generally not secure and making it secure can be very difficult, especially outside of a closed environment. Many things come into play that can limit reliability, mostly related to client-side setup. Many people don't have functing desktop email clients, use web-based email, or don't have Acrobat or Reader installed (or if they do, properly configured).
Submitting to a server (as with FormsCentral) can be easily secured (though that's just one aspect of overall security) and is significantly more reliable than email. If it's important that you get what users (believe they) are submitting, email should be avoided unless you have control over their systems and are able to adequately configure them.

  • Do I need the Pro plan if I have Acrobat XI with FormsCentral on my desktop?

Trying to decide what plan to sign up for.  We do only a few forms a year with less than 500 responses.  I prefer to work on my desktop then publish.  Can I do that with the lesser plans?

If you already have Acrobat XI then you could go with either the FormsCentral Basic or FormsCentral Plus plan.  You do not need the Adobe Acrobat Plus plan since you already have Acrobat XI.  Your choice of plan should be determined by how many forms you think you will be creating.  Details of the plan differences are at https://www.acrobat.com/formscentral/en/pricing.html.

  • Acrobat FormsCentral Javascript

If I want to add Javascript to the components in a form, my workaround is to export the online form from FormsCentral and save as a PDF, open in Acrobat Pro then use the Tools/Form option to add Javascript to the Submit buttom and textboxes. Is this the right approach? I'm asking because I don't know if there is a straight-forward feature in Acrobat or FormsCentral to do this and if there is something implemented that is easier than this approach, thanks! When I try to create a form through Acrobat Pro it tells me to open FormsCentral to create the form but I want to have the ability to use Javascript in Acrobat to create the form.

How do I edit a FormsCentral PDF form in Adobe Acrobat?
    23-lug-2013 15.16
Categorie: From the Product Team Tag: #acrobat #pdf #edit #submit
PDF forms generated by FormsCentral are Reader Extended to allow Adobe Reader users to fill and save PDF forms. A side effect of Reader Extending the PDF form is that it cannot be modified in the full (paid-for) Adobe Acrobat product. The instructions below explain how to edit FormsCentral PDF forms in Acrobat X or XI:
Open the FormsCentral PDF form in Adobe Acrobat
Go to the File menu and select the Save a Copy… menu item (Note: this is not the same as File > Save As...). This step is important as it will remove the Reader Extended rights and allow you to modify the PDF. Make sure you save under a different name than the current PDF.
Open the copy you just saved in step #2
Do your modifications. Note: If the form has a FormsCentral Submit button on it then be careful making changes because you could break the Submit button.
If your form has a Submit button then test your form by submitting data to make sure the changes you made didn't break anything
If you have Acrobat XI then go to File > Save as Others... > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (include form fill-in & save)…; If you have Acrobat X then go to File > Save as... > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features... This will add the Reader Extended Rights back so that the fillers can save the PDF in previous version of Reader

  • FormsCentral Plus vs. FormsCentral w/Acrobat

What is the difference(s) between the FormsCentral Plus (11.99 mo) and FormsCentral w/Acrobat (19.99 mo) packages?  What additional features would I gain from the 19.99 version?

FormsCentral Plus w/Acrobat has the same level of service for FormsCentral as the FormsCentral Plus option and also includes two additional services - Create PDF (or Adobe Create PDF) https://www.acrobat.com/createpdf/en/home.html to create PDF files from many file types, and Export PDF https://www.acrobat.com/exportpdf/en/home.html to export to other file types from a PDF.
The features in FormsCentral in either plan are the same, the additional $8 gets you two additional services.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI pro, FormsCentral

    Hallo,

    Hi Thomas;
Acrobat Pro XI comes with a Desktop application of FormsCentral that allows you to create unlimited PDF forms.  It does not include a subscription to the online service of FormsCentral for creating online forms.  You can sign into the Desktop application as a Free user or with a paid subscription to gain additional benefits from the online services.
To create "local" forms that you save as PDF you do not have to be signed into the application, simply create your forms and from the File menu choose "Save as PDF Form".  You can further edit the PDF form in Acrobat Pro XI to add your own submit method such as Email.
This is an FAQ on the differences between having Acrobat Pro XI and a subscription to FormsCentral: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1385

  • Is there a way to set up folders in FormsCentral?

I know that this question has been asked before, and I would submit my support for this feature via the link posted in one of the previous responses...if it worked. Really folks, I need a way to be able to group forms into folders. I have 300 students, spread out across about 25 classes, who all need to submit a monthly evaluation report. Currently we are using old-fashioned paper forms. FormsCentral would be a great way to do this IF I could group the students by class and then have a separate form file for each student.
There have been a number of requests for this feature. Are you folks at Adobe getting any closer to making it a reality?

Is it that you need the forms sorted into folders, or that you are looking for a way to sort the data from the forms?
I have a situation where I have about 700 respondents filling out a form, and I have the option checked for an e-mailed receipt. As the e-mails come in, I have my e-mail application sort the responses appropriately, including forwarding copies to other people.
Another option, if your aim is really the data instead of the forms, is to view and filter the data set as needed. If you had a defining question in the form "Which section of this class are you in?" or "Which response is this form for?" or some such thing, where the response to the question is from a drop-down list (for instance) so the data is always the same, then you could filter the data according to the group you were wanting to view... either directly within the View Responses window or after you have exported the responses to an Excel file. See this documentation for more: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat-com/formscentral/help/sort-filter-data.html
Not to detract from your original request for folders, I have made the same suggestion, but from what you describe, I think maybe you are looking for something other than folders for forms.
    I hope that helps,
    Brian

  • Can I insert into a form build in FORMSCENTRAL, a Formula with the numerical data that are updated by a given formula, like in Excel?

Can I insert into a form build in FORMSCENTRAL, a Formula with the numerical data that are updated by a given formula, like in Excel?

  • Form created in Acrobat Pro 8 not editable in Acrobat Pro XI

I created several forms in Acrobat Pro 8, using LiveCycle Designer. I upgraded to Acrobat XI a few days ago when I learned it was unstable under Windows 7. I am now finding I cannot edit my existing forms in Acrobat Pro XI because it doesn't include LiveCycle Designer. This has apparently been moved into a separate product that will cost me another $300. Moreover, I can't seem to save my existing forms at Word documents to re-import them into Acrobat XI, so I can re-create the forms from scratch. I suppose I could print and scan them, but that will result in a less legible form.
This loss of functionality and cross-compatibility between versions is disturbing. I feel I have just paid $200 to get less functionality than I had before.
It also appears that the most expedient method for creating new forms in Acrobat XI is to upload them to FormsCentral. I am reluctant to upload these to a third-party server, and resent being required to do so in order to maintain any functionality.
Is this an ill-planned marketing strategy to get people to buy another software package (which isn't happening in my case), or is there some work-around I am not seeing here?

To create a form in Acrobat, you first create a PDF that you will be adding form fields to. Normally yo'd create the source document in a program like InDesign or Word, convert to PDF, and place the form fields where they need to go. Acrobat includes a Form Wizard that can attempt to add fields where it thinks they should go, but I rarely use it, preverring to add the fields manually. To do this, select: Tools > Forms > Edit
and you'll be switched to form editing mode. At the top you'll see the various form field tools that you can use to add fields to the document. This type of form is known as an Acroform, as opposed to an XFA form (static or dynamic) that LiveCycle Designer creates.
Acrobat 11 comes with the FormCentral form creation application that allows yo to create forms that can be used with the FormsCentral service. It allows you to export a form to PDF, which can be further edited in Acrobat. FormsCentral can also work with a PDF form (Acroform) that you create entirely in Acrobat.
I think an Acroform is the more versatile type of the three mentioned since they have the widest support in the PDF viewers that are out there, but which you choose depends on your needs. Each have their advantages.

  • FormsCentral could not import the PDF document because it has already been distributed by FormsCentr

    Why this error?

    Also, when I go to https://www.acrobat.com/formscentral/en/landing/axifcpricing.html?accntlvl=fr&promoid=KEUQ Z&s_tnt=58495:1:0
    I get this info:
                   Distribute forms to others

                   Unlimited
                   Unlimited
    Link to web forms

                   Unlimited
    Get HTML embed code
                   1 form max †

    Work with existing PDF forms
                   1 form max †
                   5 form max †
                   Unlimited
So is this saying that even if I upgrade to the middle selection here I can only work with up to 5 forms?

  • Creating tables in FormsCentral

Hi!  I am trying to create a table in FormsCentral to add student expenses and savings--creating an bursary application form, for student in financial need.  Can this be done with Forms Central.  I have found functions to be used in FormsCentral http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat-com/formscentral/help/formula-syntax-built-in-functions.htm l; but where can we utilize these if the option of creating a table is not available at this time. Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

    Hi;
Tables are not a type of field FormsCentral supports at this time.  The Help docs about Formulas are for the "View Responses" tab where there is a table of the responses, not for the form itself.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • How much design control can you have with FormsCentral?

    Hi there,
Our company's forms have a defined look, initially created in LiveCycle.  I am willing to remake every last one of our many forms in order to get them online and mobile-compatible, but I'm concerned about maintaining our look.  It isn't complicated, but I'd like to use our colors, logo, etc.
Can someone recommend documentation or a set of samples that will show me what the design parameters are for FormsCentral?
    Many thanks,
    Laura

I am trying to reset my FormsCentral so that it only using the Desktop App and not prompting to login to Adobe ID.  Can you please help me?
    Thanks,
    Joyce Miller

Joyce Miller is looking for the desktop icon for the Adobe FormsCentral desktop app. My machine was replace and now I can't find where to download that app either. There is reference to it, but no instructions where to down load the app. In January it was here: https://www.acrobat.com/formscentral/en/desktop-download.html
    But now it's gone.
