Action at the end of a MovieClip

I've made a movieclip with an animation and I have exported
it for AS.
In the AS I make various entities of this movieclip and I add
them in a array.
At the end of my movieclip I want to execute a function (that
should delete the movieclip from the array then auto-delete
itself).
1. I tried to insert in the last frame of the movieclip a
call to a function in the AS but the movieclip doesn't found it
(the function is found only in the main timeline).
Is there a good mode to call a public function of the .as in
a movieclip?
2. Does it exist a listener on MovieClips that signal when
these end (last frame of the MC timeline)?
3. To auto-delete the moviclip I wrote this in the last frame
of the movieclip: (this.parent).removeChild(this);
Is this method right?

  • How to detect the end of a movie clip:  what eventListener to use?

    I'm doing a rather fancy button with up,down,rollover,rollout,and static states, something the standard flash button structure isn't capable of as far as I can tell, and believe me, I've tried it.
    Here's the setup:  My main timeline has a series of frames with stop(): scripts, and each frame has a movie clip representing what should happen during that state:  still, rollover, rollout, mousedown, mouseup
    I can't get the mouseup event  to work.
    Here's what I've tried so far that doesn't work:
    1. in the imbedded movieclip, no script at the end.  Result: This just loops the embedded clip.
    2. in the imbedded movieciip, put gotoAndPlay("NextFrame"), where "NextFrame" is the label in the root movie where I want to go. result: loops clip
    3. in the imbedded movieciip, put root.gotoAndPlay("NextFrame"), where "NextFrame" is the label in the root movie where I want to go. result: error
    I think what I need to do is write an eventListener for the root actionscript, but I don't know what event to listen for.
    What event is thrown when a movieclip finishes playing?
    :<)McFrisco

    You have to create your own mechanism(s) for detecting the end of a movieclip being reached.  You can either build code into the end of the clip itself, possibly dispatching an event that is being listened for by a containing timeline, or you could continuously monitor the currentFrame of the clip to see if it equals the totalFrames value.

  • Using Flach CS4 and action script 2.0 how do I advance to a specific frame of the main timeline when a movie clip instance come to the end of its timeline?

    Using Flach CS4 and action script 2.0 how do I advance to a specific frame of the main timeline when a movie clip instance come to the end of its timeline?

    code on the last frame of your movieclip instance:
    _root.gotoAndStop('whatever_frame');  // will work unless this swf is loaded into another swf.  in that situation, you should use a relative path to the main timeline (eg,  _parent or _parent._parent etc).

  • How to get the end of a download action ?

    Hello !
    My web application must download zip file.
    Actually, the servlet's code for download is like this :
    response.setContentType("application/download");
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","inline; filename=DownloadFile");
    ServletOutputStream l_ServletOutputStream = response.getOutputStream();
    l_ServletOutputStream.write(l_ByteArrayOutputStream.toByteArray());
    l_ServletOutputStream.flush();
    The client can see a popup dialog box asking him to save the file on disk or open it or cancel. In case of save action, file is downloaded but I don't know when this action finished. Is there any event to catch or something else that inform about the end of downloading action ( I have to refresh the display with a new JSP ) ?
    Thanks for your help !

    Propably to correct way would be to use HTTP-headers to indicate the length of the file, so actual application download is possible also through other clients, rather than the specific one, so you could do:
    response.setHeader("Content-length",l_ByteArrayOutputStream.toByteArray().length);I'm not really sure if servlets do this automatically, they really should though, but I'm hazy on their implementation and you might want to check the HTTP specification on whether or not the length of the headers should be included in the Content-length field, as it might be required to.

  • Trouble Cleaning Up At The End of an Automator Action

    So my automator action currently downloads a file (a .dmg), mounts it, copies its contents to Applications, and then... I then want to unmount the dmg and throw the dmg away. However, by this point I no longer have the references to these two items:
    download file -> mount file -> copy items
    I'd like to be able to get back to the downloaded file so I can trash it, but there's no way to "store" its name or reference or anything. Any ideas? Unfortunately I can't just do a search for it since its name is often different.
    Thanks in advance!

    Try adding the following steps at the end of your current workflow. Steps 1-4 are Finder actions; step 5 is an Auomator action:
    1) *Get Specified Finder Items* -- in the Open dialog navigate to your Macintosh HD > Users > +your name+ > Desktop. Select the Desktop folder and hit Open. Leave the Options unchecked.
    2) *Get Folder Contents* -- Leave both "Repeat for each subfolder found" and the Options unchecked.
    3) *Filter Finder Items* -- Whose: Name Extension - Is equal to - dmg. Leave the Options unchecked.
    4) *Move to Trash*
    5) *Run AppleScript* -- your script might look like this:
    on run {input, parameters}
    tell application "Finder" to eject (every disk whose local volume is true)
    return input
    end run
    Good luck!

  • TS4357 The song I downloaded cuts off about 3 seconds before the ending, I have tried re-downloding per apple support directions with the same results. What further actions may I take to fix this issue?

    The song I downloaded (Slayer, Criminally Isane) cuts off about 3 seconds before the ending, I have tried re-downloding per apple support directions with the same results. What further actions may I take to fix this issue?

    I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
    Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
    Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • How do you set the End Action on last slide of slideshow

    Encore DVD CS3.
    I must be the village idiot. I have setup a slideshow with manual advance. I cannot find a way to set the end action for the last slide. When I click on the last slide in the slideshow timeline there is no option that I can find for end action. When I preview the slideshow the last slide goes to black. I set the manual advance for all slides. There is several mentions of end action but no info on how to do it.
    Appreciate advice. Very frustrating.

    BTW Why are there no reference books for Encore CS3? It seems very strange. It has been out for a while but NO books.

    Thank you for your help. I did what you said but the last slide still goes to black. The last slide also ignores the "manual Advance" and goes to black.
    I highlighted the slideshow timeline in the project window and set end action on the properties panel on the right to the slideshow itself. But the last slide quickly goes to black. Each slide except the last one has a box in the upper right corner indicating a cross dissolve transition. I set the slide duration to "manual advance" for the whole slideshow. I feel like an idiot but nothing seems to change the end action of the slideshow or the last slide. Always cuts to black and stops.

  • Adobe Encore CS4: End action will not execute because of end action on the final chapter point

    Error screen:
    Error I’m getting for section titled Notes (PP 45 second video): “End action will not execute because of end action on the final chapter point.”
    The icon that shows error is in top line second from end.  I’m trying to 'end action' that portion of the video by going back to 'menu default'; also tried end action w/ ‘Stop’ and neither work.
    I saw a post about checking timeline.  Not sure what I’m looking for there.  I have nothing in Orphanage area.  I also tried building despite Check Project error and it will not build project.  Any suggestions on how to fix: “End action will not execute because of end action on the final chapter point.”?

    Select chapter one on that timelne. Look in the properties panel. Does it have an end action? You do not want an end action on the chapter; just on the timeline itself.
    That will not generally prevent a build, however. So you may have other issues.

  • End action will not execute because of end action on the final chapter point

    I will be referring to this video:
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-encore-cs4/creating-an-event-dvd/
    I followed this exactly, except for the slide show (and I made a DVD instead of flash), but when I checked the project, I get the error message "End action will not execute because of end action on the final chapter point".
    I don't understand.  I did not change any end points except for the one specified in this tutorial.  (About the Max footage for the very beginning, before the menu).  If anything was added, it was Adobe's doing.
    I do notice that in 00:04 in the tutorial, there's a downward arrow on the very end of the timeline.  My timeline does not have this.  How was this done?
    In the Encore software, after the timeline is loaded, there is no arrow at the very end.  Mine doesn't have that either.
    I'm finding Adobe/Encore's way of making menus rather difficult.  With Pinnacle Studios (at least through 8-12), making menus was easy, and it set up the chapters for you.  Why can't there be an automated menu feature in Encore?
    Anyway, here's my project:
    Main time line has 9 chapters. When clicking on their chapter points, all say End Action: not set.
    When I click on the white bar above the lite purple footage of the time line, where the chapter point's bottom rest, it says, End Action: Not Set AND Menu Remote: Return to Last Menu.
    All 9 chapter points are white.
    In the flowcart, there is the DVD icon --> my few seconds opening credits --> menu that has a Play All and Scene Selection button
    Play All goes to first chapter of video
    Scene Selection (submenu #1) goes to 6 scenes, a next, previous, main menu.  All seem to be linked properly.
    Scene Selection for scenes 7-9 are in the #2 submenu.  Has a previous button and a main menu button.   All seem to be linked properly.
    Can anyone offer any advice?  Help?  I need to make this DVD and two others by the end of the week!
    If you need more information, please let me know that too.

    If I make a change in the timeline in Premiere, will that new change be reflected in the timeline of Encore?
    If you used Adobe Dynamic Link, then yes, the Timeline will be updated. If you did not, then you will need to Export again, then Import into Encore. Watch out if you have already Transcoded, etc., and I'd name the new Timeline Export differently, Import that, use Replace Asset. When a Project is very new, and nothing much has been done, it will not be so picky. After a couple of links, etc., it gets VERY picky, and Replace Asset will help.
    Is there a way to reload the project without having to redo all the menus and links?
    If you did a Save_As, or still have your original Project, i.e. you started a completely new Project with a unique name, you can go back to the original.
    Hope that helps,
    Hunt

  • Testing - No matter how the End Action is programed, I get an Error

    The project:
    1 master avi video 28 minute.
    19 button in several sub-menues.
    19 timelines, the master is cut on the timelines.
    All chapter 1 at 00:00:00 of each timeline linked to the buttons.
    Each timeline has only on chapter point, that is chapter 1.
    All timeline End Action are programed to go back to the button.
    The chapterpoint End Action are programed to go back to the button.
    Error: "Endaktion kann wegen der Endaktion auf letzter Kapitelmarke nicht ausgeführt werden"
    (English circa: "Endaction can't be executed because of the last chapter point"), this for all timelines. However, in preview the end action is executed.
    Correction: I correct the full list of timeline End Action errors.
    Error: now I get the error "End-Aktion nicht festgelegt"
    (English circa: No Endaction"), this for all timelines.Clicking any button no timeline is played.
    WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
    THANKS!

    Thanks!
    Okay, the error message doesn't appear when the end action of chapter point #1 is removed, and the end action from the timeline works.
    So when a timeline has multiple chapter points, the end action on chapter points #1, #2, #3 etc. are only for linking to the next chapter. But for the last chapter point in a timeline there should be no end action programed, this would create the error, in other words the end action for the timeline is doing that...
    ... is that right?

  • How can I make a top layer "transparent" to the end-user?

    Hi guys,
    Got a quick question.
    I'm working on a custom card builder and was wondering if there was any way I could keep an uploaded image editable to the end user. The end-user will be able to choose what template they'd like to frame the image with. The problem is, even with transparency that chosen frame acts as a layer, and once the uploaded image has been placed onto the staging area, the end-user loosing the ability to edit/scale/skew that image. I'd like them to be able to still do that even with the template above their image.
    Can anybody think of a solution to this? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

    You'd literally need to chop each frame up. To keep things reasonable to update you can use Photoshop to slice the graphics, saving them to external PNGs to import in. If a frame has 4 edges, you cut out the 4 sides, import into Flash and reassemble them inside a single Sprite or MovieClip. Any area inside that sprite that has no actual objects will be true transparency and won't invoke a click action.
    Keep in mind, hitboxes are rectangular. If you have an oval frame where the edges require you to create bitmaps with transparency on their edges, that will be clickable. If you don't immediately understand what I mean by that just draw a circle in flash, convert to clip. Now draw your cursor around what you consider the 'top' portion of that frame and notice how much of the inner fill you also capture at the same time. That will all be clickable. So the user may "see" their picture behind the frame but when they click they accidentally get the frame instead.
    Picture worth a thousand words (random net image):
    If you cut this oval frame into 4 pieces (this being the top obviously), the transparent area you see in the frame will need to be part of the hitarea for the frame. That can be just as confusing to customers in this situation. If most of your frames have little to no transparency (very squared up) then it won't be a problem. Although just like the problem you're having now, any bitmap transparency WILL be clickable even if you cut the sides up. The center where there is no bitmap can be clicked through to mess with the picture behind the frame.
    This sort of makes the transparency detection a bit more desirable.

  • Detect the end of flvplayback

    i have an flvplayback component on stage, named the instance flvPlayer and added this code to frame 1, so a video loads in it.
    flvPlayer.source = "clip1.flv";
    the videos plays from the local folder perfectly.
    I need a code that when the video ends, it jumps and stop to frame 1 of scene2.
    something like:
    scene 1, Frame 1:
    stop();
    flvPlayer.source = "clip1.flv";
    // code for detecting the end of the video and jumping
    when flvPlayer completed
        MovieClip(this.root).gotoAndStop(1, "Scene 2");

    i have "Scene 1" and "Scene 2".
    i have the flvPlayback component on the stage of scene 1. i chose flvPlayer for the instance name.
    and added this code to frame 1 of scene 1:
    stop();
    flvPlayer.source = "clip1.flv";
    flvPlayer.addEventListener(VideoEvent.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
    function completeHandler(event:VideoEvent):void
        MovieClip(this.root).gotoAndStop(1, "Scene 2");
    and i have scene 2 with a stop action on it's 1st frame.
    when i try to test the file, i get this error message in compile error section:

  • [Solved] Openbox's rc.xml error "Extra content at the end of document"

    I have a rather silly problem with Openbox.
    I'm not a programming genius so, for me, dealing with XML is a pain but I usually manage to get OB's menus and other docs to work. Ive been banging my head into a wall of xml trying to add my own entry to OpenBox's rc.xml file.  All I want to add is an Xfce terminal centred on my Twinview desktop.  I've done it in the past but right now I can't get the rc.xml file to work.  Whenever I re-configure OpenBox I get the following message spit out at me:
    Extra content at the end of document on line ###
    So far, this is what I've attempted to get this to work:
    - I have tried recopying a new rc.xml from /etc/xdg/openbox to my home directory's ~/.config/openbox.  I was assuming I'd botched it entirely and started over from the beginning.
    - I have cut/copy/pasted the commented paragraph, above my entry, with the same co-ordinates and with the "force position" set to "yes."
    -I've googled this error but I only found one or two semi-relevant hits (from this forum no less!)  Unfortunately I did not find a fix to the issue or a reason as to why this error crops up
    I know that it's probably something that is easily missed but I honestly can't see it.  I'm hoping someone on the forum will have run across this issue before and had it fixed.  Below is a copy of my current rc.xml.

    You can use whatever tool you prefer - for someone already using emacs, emacs is a natural choice. Simple, easy to use online tools exist e.g. http://schneegans.de/sv/
    Just upload the file in question ('Validate by file upload' option) and click 'Validate':

    Googling 'xml validation' should give you some more tools / services if this one is not good enough.

  • How to automatic update necessary infotypes at the end in ISR framework

    Hi experts,
    I want to create a custom PCR scenario based on ISR framework. This scenario will transfer a person from one position to another position. In the normal PCR scenario, the final change of the person's infotype data is done by following-up functions which are defined in the scenario action boxes. These following-up functions require an administrator to login system then mannually choose one following-up function to make the update to the system data. I wonder if it is possible to let the system automatically update the backend system at the end of the execution of ISR scenario. The ISR scenario has a setting called 'Automatic Update', will this help? Or we need to add a step in the PCR workflow to do it? Thanks a lot.

    Automating those kind of updates is part of the new HCM Processes and Forms which is in fact a replacment for PCRs. I would look into that if you can.
