Activating Company code curreny in COPA

Activating company code currency within COPA. We want to activate this in our test system but we have concerns with the possible performance issues given the data going to COPA will double from that point forward. Foreign currency postings, as well as USD postings create two entries into COPA.
need advise on this on how we can I take care of this
Thanks
Ankur

Hi Ankur
What is your Comp Code currency and Op Concern currency?? If both are same, say, USD - Then no point in activating the same
If they are different - Then it makes sense.... It makes sense even more if you are using Costing based COPA because Costing Based COPA is designed to reconcile with FI only in Comp Code Currency
However, it would increase the data volumes,... Do an analysis of the data posted in COPA over last 12 months and Last Calendar year... Then (x) by 2... you will get an idea of the Load that will be levied on COPA...
Take your BASIS guys also in the loop to do server sizing if need be

    Hi All
while assinging the Real Time Integration variant to company code. Getting the following error as
" Active company code check in controlling area."
any one can plz suggest me.
    Moderator: Please, search before posting

    Hi Ashok,
    Thanks for the response.
Here in my case, when I insert the Tcodes related to conrolling like(KO01,KO02,KO03 etc) in a role, then I dont find any authorization objects(bukrs) which is related to the company code in the authorization genaration area in PFCG. So there is no way I can maintain values in them.
    Please suggest any alternate solution.

  • Seeking Information on Company Code Currency in COPA

    Greetings all,
I am working on a project to activate the company code currency flag in COPA (attributes under KEA0). I have activated the flag in a test system and as expected I now get two PA docs, a 10 and a B0. The oddity begins when I compare PA docs created from SD and FI. In my example I am creating documents in three different currencies; 1) transaction curr = SEK, 2) company curr = EUR, and 3) operating concern curr = USD. I am on ECC 6.0 EP 4.
If I create a PA from a billing document (record type F) then the data looks exactly as I expect it. The foreign currency key (FRWAE) is SEK. I can see the transaction currency is SEK with value fields in SEK, I can see the company currency is EUR with an exchange rate of SEK <-> EUR along with value fields in EUR, and I can see the operating concern currency is USD with an exchange rate of SEK <-> USD along with value fields in USD.
However, if I create a similar document with FB50 (record type B) the foreign currency key (FRWAE) is EUR instead of SEK and the exchange rate to USD is 1 (KURSF) instead of the actual exchange rate. I only get company currency and operating concern currency values. The values in the value fields are correct per currencies eventhough the fx rate is whacked. In FI the transaction currency is SEK but you would never know it in PA. The really bizarre thing is when I go to display the PA doc (I am branching from the FI doc) it behaves very odd. The default view is Op conc which is in USD. If I click the foreign curr button it displays USD. If I click the company code curr button it displays EUR. If I then go back to the foreign curr view it is now in EUR???
I am hoping someone can explain the difference between the two, or at least point me to a good resource. If there is a rational reason for this system behavior then I am hoping someone can suggest some way to manipulate the data.
    Many thanks,
    Chris

    Hi,
CO-PA will only store values in either operating concern currency or company code currency(if active). For FI postings CO-PA fills the field foreign currency in the CO-PA line item with the currency with the currency of the company code. The reason for this is that the currency conversion for FI documents is that the currency conversion for FI documents is executed with the
company code currency and the field FRWAE is always filled with the currency that is used for conversion. This is designed in order to allow a reconciliation between FI and CO-PA. CO-PA uses company code currency as the base to convert to operating
concern currency for FI postings. The field FRWAE is not intended to reflect the transaction currency. It is just used to store the currency from which the conversion to the currency of the record is made.
In case of direct postings from FI/MM CO-PA takes over group currency directly if group and operating concern currency are identical. As group currency is translated in FI with exchange rate ( according the settings in transaction 'OB22' for company code) you'll find this exchange rate in CO-PA too. I have attached SAP Note 604936 to this ticket that describes the translation logic used in PA for postings from FI and MM.
The currency translation from SD however works differently as described in SAP Note 429517. In this case PA will not consider any values in group currency. Values in operating concern currency are either translated based on transaction or company code currency using exchange rate type 'M'.
    Hope this will help.

  • Activation of company code currency flag in CO-PA

    Hello,
I have activated company code currency flag in CO-PA. I understand that CE1xxxx records are created in company code currency flag after activation.
Is there a tool available to create the records retrospectively for transactions posted in the prior months / year?
    Thanks
    Sanjiv Agrawal

Using KE21n will require each document to be posted manually to CO-PA.
I looked at KE4S and it only allows billing documents to be posted to CO-PA.  In our case, CO-PA documents get generated
at the time of sales order settlement.

  • COPA-Company Code Currency

    Hi,
In CO-PA, we have operating concern, say abcd, having operating concern currency, say KD. Now, we have activated company code currency, say AD using T.Code KEA0. Now, our requirement is that if we run T.code KE30,  we need report in operating concern currency and company code currency. Presently, we are getting the report in Operating Concern currency only. Any clue...
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards-
    Ganesh

    Hi
CO-PA supports the following currency types:
    B0 (operating concern currency)
    10 (company code currency)
    When To Use Multiple Currencies
The answer to this question is demonstrated in the following example.
An international corporation has its headquarters in the United States and has a subsidiary in the UK. The operating concern currency is the U.S. dollar, while the company code currency of the subsidiary is the British pound.
If this organization uses parallel currencies in CO-PA, all transactions carried out by the British subsidiary are posted in British pounds in Financial Accounting (FI), but stored in two currencies in CO-PA - pounds and dollars. Both of these currencies are updated simultaneously in CO-PA when each transaction is posted.
It makes sense to use both currencies when the organization carries out transactions in currencies whose exchange rates change daily (such as US dollars and British pounds). This helps you avoid exchange rate differences and makes it possible to reconcile the CO-PA data with that in FI.
You can plan in CO-PA in either the company code currency or the operating concern currency in each version. You can convert your planning data to the other currency by copying the data to a plan version that uses the other currency and translating it using a planned exchange rate.
In the information system, you can display reports in the operating concern currency as well as in the company code currency.
When Not To Use Multiple Currencies
If your organization works with average exchange rates by period instead of exchange rates that fluctuate daily, it is advisable not to update both currencies. If you did, you would be doubling your data volume without gaining any additional information. Alternative currency translation functions are available in planning and in the information system to let you translate all values using average exchange rates by period.

  • Operating concern for two company code with different currency

    Hi,
We are merging two company code into one SAP server.
We decide to use on chart of account, and to use one operating concern.
For company code A: the currency is CNY, for company code B: the currency is TWD.  The operating concern currency is:CNY.
So i need to in KEA0(maintain operating concern) active company code currency, right?
So every posting in company code B will be posted in TWD and CNY to COPA same item, right?
In KE30 report, where to add characters: Currency type that i can show company code B report in TWD?
    Thanks.

    Dear David,
Yes. If you have different compancy codes within one controlling area, you have to maintain currency type with 10-Company code currecny and while maintaining the operating concern also you have to choose the company code currency only.  Then only you will get the reports with respect of your company code currecny level. This will be basing on your company code-sales organisation, plants and other charcters assignment basis in your configuration.
    All the best,
    Dharma Rao. Yekula.

  • KEA0 activate company code currency

    Hi every body !
Can some one tell me what would be the program to generate prior values for company code currency in COPA ? Actually the controlling area is only customizing in group currency.
    Thanks by advance

    Hi,
if company code currency is activated in KEA0 at a later point in time, it does not have an effect on data that has already been posted. This data is only kept in    in the operating concern currency.
Check the OSSnote for futher details:

  • Cost Center Data in Company Code Currency

    Hi All,
We have a requirement to develop a Cost Center Report with Company Code, Account Number and Amount in Company Code Curreny.
I have checked table COEP, we can get data of CCode, Account Number. But Amount will be in Object Currency/Transaction  Currency / COArea Curreny and not in Company Code Currency.
Is there a way to get Cost Center data in Company Code curreny.
    Please advice.
    Thanks
    Satish

    Hi,
In CO, you specify in the year-dependent settings for the controlling area (Transaction OKKP) whether you want to use one or more currencies (flag "All currencies", TKA00-ALLEW).
If you decided to use one currency only, all documents are only managed in CO area currency.
If you decided to use several currencies, the following three currencies are managed in CO:
        1. Controlling area currency
The controlling area currency can be:
           -  10 company code currency (only if all company codes assigned to CO area have the same currency)
           -  20 free controlling area currency
           -  30 group currency
        2. Object currency (defined per object)
As a rule, the object currency is the company code currency. Only in one case the object currency can be freely chosen, that is, if flag "different company code currencies allowed" is not active.  This flag is set automatically if CO area currency is not 10 and cross-company code accounting is set.
        3. Transaction currency (could be different in every posting).

  • Problem in depreciation report for an old company code

    Hi All
Our client has migrated from one company code to another from 1st jan 2009.
Now the client wants an asset report for the year ending 31.03.2008 ( fiscal year 2007). The company code is the old one.
When I am trying to run the asset report for the fiscal year 2007 the system is giving an error that fiscal year has not been closed.
When I am running the tcode "AJRW"  the system is asking to post the depreciation. The depreciation has already  been run for the year 2008, then why  the system is asking for running the same.
Plus is there any other way out by which I can get the asset balanaces report( s_alr_87011964) for the year ending 31.03.2008.
We migrated to new company code on 01.01.20009. The balance sheet for 31.03.2009 is for new company code.

  • MIRO for multiple PO from differenct company codes

    Hi,
One of the user would like to do MIRO (Invoicing) of multipe PO's together which belong to different company code.
When I try to do it, it gives a error sayign cross company code transaction and also the functional company code curreny is different from invoicing company code(thouugh PO's are raised in USD)
For the error, SAP says I can make it a warning.
However, from business perspective can anyone tell me why this should not be done. I dont want to make the error msg warning and let the user proceed.
Can anyone please let me know?
    Thanks,
    JR

It is not a part of Standard SAP, nor a recommended Practice, nor it is logical.
We understand that when we are speaking of consolidating invoice of different company code, is it an acceptable business practice. In my opinion it is not acceptable business practise. Reason being that Company Code are different Legal entity and how is it correct to even think of merging transactions of different Company code in single invoice. It will invite financial confilct, audit problems and host of unexpected and unanticipated issues.
It is not recommended to go for any such development also to meet the requirement. Please check with the audit team in all locations whether it would be accepted. Technically also verify with FI team the impact. In my opinion it is a strong NO NO.

  • Replacing a whole Company Code

    Dear Gurus,
Could you please help me in the following questions?
In our businesses a Company Code is created for multiple factories (producing the same product).
What processes, settings and rules do we need to keep an eye on,
when we will replace a whole active Company Code to a new one?
(e.g.: payment methods, subledgers, Purchase Orders)
Thank you for your comments and hints in advance!
    Best regards,
    Endre

    Hi Endre,
Replacing or migrating your businesses to new company code, you have to create project charter what normally we follows during implementation:
    1. New enterprise structure
    2. Change management
    3. GAP Analysis document
    4. Customer Development or enhacement or interface Integration or UT in new company code
Its better if you involved your Business Process Owners and consultant team to prepare a modulewise Project Document as per ASAP Methodology.

  • Closed company codes in report

    Hi All,
I have a requirement from business says that they are some company codes which has been closed , but in report its still showing data.
I understand that we can create a condition in query to exclude those company codes so that i wont appear in report.
But in detail i want to get understand how we can make any logic functionally in sap bi system , by writing a abap code through in flow and check for company codes that is still exist or being closed ? And how do i make a check in R/3 system "?
Or still something like functionality is already been configured in sap bi system itself to make a checks like that ?
    Thanks,
    Siva

In addition you can also do a flat file data load on a daily/weekly basis OR ask your functional team if there is any custom/standard table where the company code status is maintained so that it can be pulled in BW. You can also use CMOD code to enable this functionality
If there are many company codes which are inactive then you can also create a variable that will read only the active company codes from company code IO P/M table and available in F4 for help in variable entry screen
    Thanks

  • Best Practice Question - Activate Company Code - Open client or transport?

    Hello.
When activating Company Codes in a newly productive system, is it best practice to do it directly in an open client, or to change the setting via transport?
    Thanks and Regards,
    D Flores

What do you mean by activating company code?
Is it productive check box you are talking about in OBY6.
If so, open client for manual change, make the setting and put it back the client settings.

  • Running JVA & Non-JVA Company Codes with a single Controlling Area

    Hello,
I am currently working on a consolidation project. Our scenarios will involve activating JVA in some company codes while it is not activated in some other company codes. We intend to maintain a single controlling area in CO for all these company codes i.e. JVA and Non-JVA company codes have a common controlling area.
I would like hear from gurus that have implemented or a are supporting a scenario in which JVA and Non-JVA company codes share a common controlling area. I'd like to know if the technical and/or operational challenges of this scenarios, if there are any issues to keep in mind and possible work-arounds.
Any help in this regard would be appreaciated.
    Thanks.
    Oluwafemi.

    Hello,
From FI/CO/JVA perspective there should not be any issues, even if two company codes one JVA active and other non JVA active are there in the same controlling area.(I have been part of the implementation where both JVA and non JVA company codes resides in the same controlling area)
Its important to ask from consolidation purpose are you going to use any of the JVA table. If yes then you have to be careful because non JVA active company code information will not be stored in the JVA table.
It would be gr8, if you can share some of the apprehension from consolidation perspective, so that we can elaborate on the issues.
