ActiveX and Company Object

Hi out there!
First, thank you all for this great article right here:

Now we are close to a perfect running activex-object in SAP close means for example the following problem:
We have a running addon, which is connected to a running SAP Application. Now we create our Form with an acitveX object. After that we try to give the Company - and the Application-Object to this activex-object, so they can be used by it.
But there is a .net-remoting problem.
If we give these objects to the activeX object, the .net-framework convert them into marshalbyrefobjects.
So we can't use the given objects in that activex-object, cause .net-framework throws error, when trying to use properties of these objects.
May someone had same experiences?

This remoting proxy has no channel sink which means either the server has no registered server channels are listening, or the application has no suitable client channel to talk to the server...
additional information: we add a channel to our activeX control like in the link above mentioned, so may the second part of the message is not a real problem. Or am i wrong?
any ideas?

Problems with ActiveX and an IRtrans-modul

Hello,
I have a problem with an IRtrans-USB-modul. This is a modul for learning or sending infrared commands.
The modul is connecting to the USB-port and supports ActiveX and .NET protocols.
I have registered the ocx-library with the command regsvr32 and in LabVIEW I have the selection for the ActiveX-class.
But when I use a method and will send or learn a command I get the
failure: Exception occured in Winsock, wrong protocol or connection
status for the prompted transaction or demand. Help path in
MSWNSK98.chm and context 1040006 in Unbenannt1.
With the supplied software from the manufactor the modul is working fine.
Somebody is using this as well? Or somebody could help me with this problem?

I've installed the software for the IRtrans module. Unfortunately, I can't start a server, because for this I have to connect this module.
If You can select the methods of the IRtrans objects in LabVIEW, the activex connection should be OK. Make sure, that You use the right parameters and the right data types.

LicenseServer property in Company object alway return empty string

Hi everyone,
When I use Company object and LicenseServer property to get LicenseServer, both in SBO 2004 & SBO 2005 all return empty string, who can help me get the correct LicenseServer name.

Thanks for your reply, actually I need the License server name, but in SLIC table it saves Local hotost and port number some times like below:

who knows how to get the name instead of Localhost,
why licenseserver return empty sting? doI need set other property to get license server name for company object?

What settings need to be changed so logos (.png or .jpg) and other objects in the email (body_part_0.html or body_part_1.vcf) appear in the email in lieu of att

We have several computers that receive email via Thunderbird. Two individuals received that exact same email. On one of the emails, the attachments are shown correctly (PDF file and a ZIP file). On the other computer, the attachments are also shown but any company logos (.png or .jpg) and other objects in the email (body_part_0.html or body_part_1.vcf) do not appear correctly in the body of the email but appear at the bottom of the email as attachments. I can send PDF files of these (2) different emails if it would be helpful.

Matt: Thanks for the quick reply... both computers have the identical antivirus software package. I'm thinking that there has to be something in the configuration of Thunderbird that is slightly different that is giving the different results.

MSXML6 not supporting VB6 outlook.Attachments (MailItem.Attachments) getting ActiveX cannot create object error

Hi, This is about msxml4 removal from my application for security reason.
Currently in my application Outlook Addin with VB6 using Office2010 and outlook object is refering with MSOUTL.OLB from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14
When unregister MSXML4.dll to remove the dependacy of it and use MSXML6.dll, My application getting error.
VB6 outlook.Attachments getting ActiveX cannot create object error
if i register msxml4.dll again, then the same is working fine.
Pls suggest how to remove msxml4 dependancy without this error

Firstly, you shouldn't be messing with the system dlls.
Secondly, do you create an instance of the outlook.Attachments object (using "new" etc.)? That object cannot be created, you can only retrieve if from an Outlook item (e.g. MailItem.Attachments property).
Please show the relevant snippet of your code.

Problems with activeX and native

Hello SDN Community,
i use NW04S SP11, NWDS 7.0.11 and Adobe LifecycleDesigner 7.1.
I want to generate an Interactive Form with WebDynpro for Java only for Printing and Saving. Also I don't want to display the document in the browser so I set the displayType to activeX, because this isn't possible with native (ZCI). I have also installed the Active Component Framework. But when I deploy the application with activeX and start the application the Form is not displayed and the AcroRd32.exe runs with 98% in the TaskManager. When I deploy the Application with displayType native, the document is displayed but I can't save and open the document (Adobe Reader 8.0.0).
I hope that anybody can help me. It's very urgent.

Company object initialization for whole project

Hi,
I am creating an addon using SAP 9.0 Studo for Visual Studio. How to and where to declare the company object in the project, so that in any needed classes we can just use the object....
I have tried in Module like
Public ocompany As SAPbobsCOM.Company
ocompany = Application.SBO_Application.Company.GetDICompany()
But, in other classes, could not use the same ocompany object.
So, I am achieving this for every new classes with the below codings:

Hi,
As far as I am able to find, you need to use public keyword before your ClassName. I think that will resolve the issue.

let us take an example:
Ur company is to buy spare parts of computer, assemble them with the help of ur employees and sell it finally.
You know, you planned that ur total spare parts cost you 15000/- by enquiring in the market , labor costs is 5000/- per pc (acc. to employee wages u give to the labor)
so, ur total computer cost is 20,000/- & u wanna sell it for 25,000/-
Here, Preliminary costing per pc = 20,000/-
But, unexpectedly, on the day u r bought parts, one part rate has gone up by 1,000/- &
U assembled the computer & sold to your customer.
ur computer cost has come to 21,000. (15,000/- + 1,000/- + 5,000/-)
This is called Simultanous costing
This costing is done in SAP using production order confirmation.
at the month end(called period end closing in SAP) ur employee unexpectedly demanded to give 7000/- per pc for the pcs that were sold last month. You need that employee & u paid him accordingly. This cost u hav come to know only at the period end.
so the Final period costing is 23,000/- (15,000/- + 1,000/- + 7,000/- )
This is done in SAP using production order settlement.

Company Object Lost Connection

Hi, i have a company object, connected by single sign-on with UI Api, and it was working fine in all the development, now i have added new code to my class, and now when I try to create a new object using the company object, it says "You Are not Conected to a company".
ok, I tried reconnecting the company object, and it connects fine, but when a make a new object, it say I have no connection.
ok, the weird think is, the old code works fine, but when more i trying to integrate the new code, it crashs too.
the class is a little bit big, with many objects, so i set every object to nothing, and call the garbage colector, but nothing.
i need to know if the problem is the DCOM Object Server, or somethink like that, or if is another think, and will be wonderfull if exist a solution

Hi Rod,
Can you please provide us with some code examples of what you're doing? Maybe you can check if the company is connected immediately before you create the new object. You can maybe show the following messages. The company name will show you if you're connected to the DI and if the message box comes up it will show you that you are still connected to the UI. If your program crashes here already, the problem is not with the creation of your new object.

Issues in persisting dynamic entity and view objects using MDS

Hi All,
I'm trying to create dynamic entity and view objects per user session and to persist these objects throughout the session, I'm trying to use MDS configurations(either file or Database) in adf-config.xml.
I'm facing following two errors while trying to run the app module:
1. MDS error (MetadataNotFoundException): MDS-00013: no metadata found for metadata object "/model/DynamicEntityGenModuleOperations.xml"
2. oracle.mds.exception.ReadOnlyStoreException: MDS-01273: The operation on the resource /sessiondef/dynamic/DynamicDeptEntityDef.xml failed because source metadata store mapped to the namespace / DEFAULT is read only.
I've gone through the following links which talks about the cause of the issue, but still can't figure out the issue in the code or the config file. Please help if, someone has faced a similar issue.

Hi Frank,
I m trying to save entity and view object xml by calling writeXMLContents() and saveXMLContents() so that these objects can be retrieved using the xmls later on.
These methods internally use MDS configuration in adf-config.xml, which is creating the issue.
Please share your thoughts on resolving this or if, there is any other way of creating dynamic entity/view objects for db tables created at runtime.

reading through the messages, there seem to be a few questions that are raised. After attending SAP Financials 2008, here is what I got from it:
1. IP vs BPC: IP is still in production and will be developed (no commitment on time though. I was told somewhere between 18-24 months before it goes to maintenance mode). There is some functionality difference from BPC and right now these are two separate products. There is a talk of a possible integration in the "distant" future
2. BPC is in process of being developed for BI, but currently it is only running on top of Microsoft SQL server. The BI version is slated to be released June 28th, but majority of the experts are fairly pessimistic about that date.
Now, the main question is what will happen to IP when BEx and BO tools converge into one - based on my understanding, we are going to see ADDITIONAL functionality. Since all the WAD and Excel activities are based on BEx API's, it is highly unlikely that they are going to be dismissed in the new product. The process in which we assign functions/commands to the planning model might change, but I think only for the best

      Programs work with local program data that is, with byte sequences in the working memory. Byte sequences that belong together are called fields and are characterized by a length, an identity (name), and as a further attribute by a data type. All programming languages have a concept that describes how the contents of a field are interpreted according to the data type.
      In the ABAP type concept, fields are called data objects. Each data object is thus an instance of an abstract data type. There are separate name spaces for data objects and data types. This means that a name can be the name of a data object as well as the name of a data type simultaneously.
Data Types
   As well as occurring as attributes of a data object, data types can also be defined independently. You can then use them later on in conjunction with a data object. The definition of a user-defined data type is based on a set of predefined elementary data types. You can define data types either locally in the declaration part of a program using the TYPESstatement) or globally in the ABAP Dictionary. You can use your own data types to declare data objects or to check the types of parameters in generic operations.
     All programming languages distinguish between various types of data with various uses, such as .. type data for storing or displaying values and numerical data for calculations. The attributes in question are described using data types. You can define, for example, how data is stored in the repository, and how the ABAP statements work with the data.
Data types can be divided into elementary, reference, and complex types.
a. Elementary Types
These are data types of fixed or variable length that are not made up of other types.
The difference between variable length data types and fixed length data types is that the length and the memory space required by data objects of variable length data types can change dynamically during runtime, and that these data types cannot be defined irreversibly while the data object is being declared.
Predefined and User-Defined Elementary Data Types
You can also define your own elementary data types in ABAP using the TYPES statement. You base these on the predefined data types. This determines all of the technical attributes of the new data type. For example, you could define a data type P_2 with two decimal places, based on the predefined data type P. You could then use this new type in your data declarations.
b. Reference Types
Reference types are deep data types that describe reference variables, that is, data objects that contain references. A reference variable can be defined as a component of a complex data object such as a structure or internal table as well as a single field.
c. Complex Data Types
Complex data types are made up of other data types. A distinction is made here between structured types and table types.
Data Objects
      Data objects are the physical units with which ABAP statements work at runtime. The contents of a data object occupy memory space in the program. ABAP statements access these contents by addressing the name of the data object and interpret them according to the data type.. For example, statements can write the contents of data objects in lists or in the database, they can pass them to and receive them from routines, they can change them by assigning new values, and they can compare them in logical expressions.
       Each ABAP data object has a set of technical attributes, which are fully defined at all times when an ABAP program is running (field length, number of decimal places, and data type). You declare data objects either statically in the declaration part of an ABAP program (the most important statement for this is DATA), or dynamically at runtime (for example, when you call procedures). As well as fields in the memory area of the program, the program also treats literals like data objects.
        A data object is a part of the repository whose content can be addressed and interpreted by the program. All data objects must be declared in the ABAP program and are not persistent, meaning that they only exist while the program is being executed. Before you can process persistent data (such as data from a database table or from a sequential file), you must read it into data objects first. Conversely, if you want to retain the contents of a data object beyond the end of the program, you must save it in a persistent form.
Declaring Data Objects
      Apart from the interface parameters of procedures, you declare all of the data objects in an ABAP program or procedure in its declaration part. These declarative statements establish the data type of the object, along with any missing technical attributes. This takes place before the program is actually executed. The technical attributes can then be queried while the program is running.
     The interface parameters of procedures are generated as local data objects, but only when the procedure is actually called. You can define the technical attributes of the interface parameters in the procedure itself. If you do not, they adopt the attributes of the parameters from which they receive their values.
ABAP contains the following kinds of data objects:
a. Literals
Literals are not created by declarative statements. Instead, they exist in the program source code. Like all data objects, they have fixed technical attributes (field length, number of decimal places, data type), but no name. They are therefore referred to as unnamed data objects.
b. Named Data Objects
Data objects that have a name that you can use to address the ABAP program are known as named objects. These can be objects of various types, including text symbols, variables and constants.
Text symbols are pointers to texts in the text pool of the ABAP program. When the program starts, the corresponding data objects are generated from the texts stored in the text pool. They can be addressed using the name of the text symbol.
Variables are data objects whose contents can be changed using ABAP statements. You declare variables using the DATA, CLASS-DATA, STATICS, PARAMETERS, SELECT-OPTIONS, and RANGESstatements.
Constants are data objects whose contents cannot be changed. You declare constants using the CONSTANTSstatement.
c. Anonymous Data Objects
Data objects that cannot be addressed using a name are known as anonymous data objects. They are created using the CREATE DATAstatement and can be addressed using reference variables.
d. System-Defined Data Objects
System-defined data objects do not have to be declared explicitly - they are always available at runtime.
e. Interface Work Areas
Interface work areas are special variables that serve as interfaces between programs, screens, and logical databases. You declare interface work areas using the TABLES and NODESstatements.
What is the difference between Type and Like?
Answer1:
TYPE, you assign datatype directly to the data object while declaring.
LIKE,you assign the datatype of another object to the declaring data object. The datatype is referenced indirectly.

Type is a keyword used to refer to a data type whereas Like is a keyword used to copy the existing properties of already existing data object.

Newbie question about entity and view objects

Hi everyone,
My first ADF application in JDeveloper is off to a difficult start. Having come from a forms background, I know that it is necessary avoid using post-query type lookups in order to have full filtering using F11/Ctrl+F11. This means creating an CRUDable view and getting as much of the lookup data as possible into the view without losing the ability to modify the data. In JDeveloper, I do not know how to build my data model to support that. My thought was to start with a robust updateable view as my main CRUD EO and then create a VO on top of that with additional EOs or VOs. But, I have found that I cannot add VOs to another VO. However, if I link the VOs then I have a master-detail which will not work for me.
For example, I have two joins to CSI_INST_EXTEND_ATTRIB_V shown in the queries below and need to have that show in the table displaying the CRUD VO’s data. It seemed that the best way to do this is to create a CSI_INST_EXTEND_ATTRIB_V entity object and view object. The view object would have two parameters, P_INSTANCE_ID and P_ATTRIBUTE name. Both the building and the unit are needed on the same record, and this is not a master-detail even though it might look that way. (A master-detail data control will not work for me because I need all this data to appear on the same line in the table.) So, I need help figuring out the best way to link these to the main (CRUD) view; I want as much of this data as possible to be filterable.

Sorry if I caused confusion with my first post. What I had in mind assumed that I could have a single CSI_INST_EXTEND_ATTRIB_V EO with a BuildingVO and UnitVO on top of it. So, I wrote the queries individually to show how I would invoke each view. When I realized that confused the issue, I rewrote the query to explain things better.
Now having seen your 2 queries. You need to create 2 EO. One for each table. Then create an association between the 2 aeO (this will be the join you are talking about). Then, you need to create a VO based on one of the EO and after you can modify and add the second EO (in here you select the join type).
After your done with this, youll have 1 VO that supports CRUD in both tables.
There were three tables in the query: CIEAV_BUILDING, CIEAV_UNIT, and T -- the main CRUD table. When you say that I should create two EOs, do you mean that they are to be for CIEAV_BUILDING and CIEAV_UNIT? Or, CIEAV and T? Assuming CIEAV and T, that sounds like it would allow me to show my building or unit on the record but not both.
By the way, everything is a reference except for the main CRUD table.

How can you make it so that when a person from a company calls me it shows their name and company on the screen

I use my iPhone for work as well as personal. However for work, I have noticed that when someone rings me, for instance Bob Mansfield from Com tec, the phone screen states just 'Bob' and no other details. I have the best part of 6 Bob's in my contacts all with different surnames and company's. Is there a way that I can get my phone to show more info on the person calling. For instance, surname and company if applicable? Any help would be much appreciated.
