Activity Alert

Hi Experts,
I have a client who uses the Activity to send messages internally (As well as the Internal Messaging). They need the Activity to pop up in the Message box when it is assigned to the logged in user.
Do any one know how the Query for this alert should look?
Thanks,
Marli

To alert a user when an activity is assigned to him you can use the next query for a user with key=3 in OUSR:
Select a.ClgCode, a.Recontact From OCLG a
Where a.AttendUser=3
    and a.Inactive <> 'Y'
    and a.Closed   <> 'Y'
    and a.U_Noticed <> 'Y'
(To avoid repeating the message the user can set the Noticed UDF to Y signaling he noticed the message.)

    ==============================================================

    Hi,
    Just several ideas to be checked:
    1. Please, verify the prerequisites of Operations Console listed by the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn249696.aspx
    2. Install all the SCOM related system updates.
    3. Clear SCOM Console cache:
    http://systemcenter.no/?p=215
    4. Try to clean up Ops Manager cache on SCOM Management server. To do this stop Microsoft Monitoring Agent service, navigate to SCOM installation path (by default, C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\Operations Manager\Server) and
    delete Health Service State folder. Start Microsoft Monitoring Agent service afterwards.
    5. If nothing helps, maybe try to reinstall SCOM Console.

  • Unable to see views Active Alerts, Discovered Inventory, Distributed Applicatios, Task Status, Unix/Linux Computers, Windows Computer under Monitoring workspace after upgrading to UR6

    Hi All,
    Recently I upgraded SCOM 2012 SP1 CU5 to CU6 and facing following issue:
    1. New menu item got grayed out that appears upon the right click on Monitoring node(root) under monitoring workspace.
    2.  When we click Monitoring in the navigation pane, the Monitoring Overview opens, which displays a summary of health states and alerts. if we click any of the numbers in the overview, it is supposed to open a state view of the selected category but
    this function does not work now.
    3. Views like Active Alerts, Discovered Inventory, Distributed Applications, Task Status, Unix/Linux Computers and Windows Computer do not appear under Monitoring workspace after upgrading to UR6.
    Has anyone out there facing such kind of issue? Any help on fixing these issues would be appreciating.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Have you re-opened the operation manager console?
    There are some known issues when intalling UR6, please go through it:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2929885
    In addition, there is CU7 for SCOM sp1, why not installing the newest one:

  • SQL Query to show active alerts

    Hi, i want to build a ASP page that shows a gridview with the current alerts in scom so we can see them clearly.
    What SQL query can get me the current alerts that are showing on Monitoring - Active Alerts, where severity is Critical?
    I use System Center 2012 SP1
    I checked this post
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/898c6f62-9daf-493b-bfd9-193d1f42fc18/sql-query-to-view-current-active-alerts?forum=operationsmanagergeneral
    And this page:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2007/10/18/useful-operations-manager-2007-sql-queries.aspx
    But i can't see the correct query.
    I don't want to use Powershell as i want to display it properly in a formatted gridview.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    SELECT * FROM [OperationsManager].[dbo].[AlertView] where Severity = 2 and ResolutionState <> 255 and LanguageCode='ENU'
    I want to report on all severity levels, but I'd like to see Warning instead of 1, and Critical instead of 2 and so on. Am I missing a field somewhere?

  • That annoying "file activity" alert

    what on earth is that "file activity" alert I always get now, whenever I go back to DW from having been on anoter app?  this happens only on the mac, not on the pc at work...  on the mac it didn't used to happen at the beginning, right after I had installed DW, about two months or so ago, but now I get it all the time, also whenever I click on the left, where the list of files is...  how can I hide this PERMAMENTLY??
    thank you...

    Figures. I was looking through preferences but never even saw that little button in the left corner. I've just been clicking away from it in frustration all this time without even looking it over in depth. Thanks.

    In the process of configuring SCOM 2012 R2, I have had several critical and warning alerts posted.  I believe I have corrected the conditions resulting in (some of) the alerts, but the alerts are still listed as active.
    I have rebooted the SCOM Server (also containing the associated SQL DB) and I have tried flushing the cache.  Nothing I have tried seems to cause these alerts to transition to inactive/closed because the condition has been corrected.
    So two questions: First, how am I to know if I really corrected the condition if the alert never seems to close?  Second, how can I get SCOM to reevaluate the ENTIRE state of which it is aware/monitoring to determine of old alerts have been corrected
    or new conditions are broken?  (So I KNOW there is no stale information around.)
    Other SC components seem to have this capability (DPM in particular) but I have not been about to find it with SCOM.

    If its an alert based off a rule it will not close, you will have to close it.
    If its an alert based off a monitor, in most cases it should close itself when it detects a healthy condition. Not all monitors will expose their criteria of a healthy condition outright, but if you click on "view or edit the settings of this monitor"
    under alert actions in the console when the alert is highlighted you can get to the monitor properties. in there if you check the configuration,knowledge, or various other tabs you can often times figure out what its looking for.
    Some Monitors wont close themselves. To find out if this is the case go back to the "view or edit the settings of this monitor" and look at the health tab. Some monitors will have something like "manual reset" in the monitor condition
    or operational state (i cant rememeber which off hand). In this case you can reset the the health of the monitor in the health explorer view.
    in the case of alerts that dont close themselves you wont really have a cut and dry answer as to whether or not the condition its alerting on is no longer occuring. Product knowledge from the monitor/rule or internet research will sometimes get you going
    in the right direction. Do you have a couple examples of the alerts you are recieving? it might help in narrowing down answers to your questions.
    One other thing to mention is if its a monitor(s), somtimes things will get in a funky state where you have an alert that wont go away, yet the health for the monitor shows all green in health explorer. In these cases which shouldnt be too often i  believe
    it is ok to just close the alert.

  • How to list the active Alerts used within a tab(report) within a Document

    Hello
    We have a number of tabs/reports within a single webi document. There are a couple of alerts within the webi document but only one is used within a given tab/report.
    Is there an API around that will help me query the alerts that are enabled within each tab/report within a given document instance?
    There is an IReportProcessingInfo class that is around for it looks like its not applicable for Webi documents.

  • How to create a customized view in SCOM monitoring to view alerts

    Hi All,

    Hi Srini,
    Based on the above requirement, You want to create a Dashboard view with Specific alerts but not all right ?
    Based on my understanding on your above requirement i created one in my SCOM. Please let me know if this is what you really wanted ?
    For the below you really need to know what are those alerts, ONLY those alerts you want to be displayed in the dashboard.
    Then Go to the Monitoring tab in SCOM and then Right click Active alerts and select New -> Select New Alert view
    When you select new alert view you will need to specify the Resolution state and the Specific alerts you want.
    In the below example i have selected "MSExchange Active sync Alert" as a example. So my goal is here such that only the alerts i have specified from my selection ( "MSExchange Active sync Alert") if it appears in New state will appear
    in this view not all other alerts.
    So for that i just used the below options:
    Resolution state & Alert name
    Resolution state = New
    Alert name = %MSExchange XXXXXXXX%
    Also as of i see there was no option for entering multiple alert names. But i think there is and i am still trying as it accepts some SQL Wild cards. So if any one has an idea what is the wild card what is to be used to mention multiple names in that Name
    view please let me know.

  • How to get SCOM alerts and send single summary email of one's that have breached.

    Hi,
    I'm trying to create a runbook which does as the title suggests, ie I want to get the 'Active' alerts from the console which have breached our SLA, which is No Critical or Warning alerts in resolution state of New for more than 24 hrs, and emails this list
    to an internal Distribution List of all the potential service owners.  Its just intended as a daily email to poke the relevant people not to ignore the console alerts :-)
    I'm able to Get Alerts OK, but from there I'm having diffs.  I have been given a powershell (as I'm no good at Powershell myself) which does the filtering to get the relevant breached alerts, but when I pass output to other activities and ultimately
    to the create/send email, I end up only able to get multiple emails, one be alert which matches the filtering from powershell.  I have appended to a file to check that I can write the alert properties line by line, but for example if Ive 4 alerts then
    I end up with 4 emails - I want one email with each alert detail (severity, Alert name, path,resolutionstate, Days/hrs in breach, Service Owner (custom Field 3) etc).  I have toyed with flattening the output with line breaks and/or commas at various points
    along the activity chain to ftry force a single iteration of te send email but this just messes the format to the point of not being useful.
    So was wondering if anyone could advise if this is possible, esp if able to do it using the standard activities  along with SCOM IP - I'm sure doing it all in powershell it a possible answer but I'm not proficient to do it - unless someone can provide
    said script! :-)
    Another possibility which has crossed my mind is to possible query the OpsMgr DB directly using the Alert ID from Get Alert but haven't tried tht yet.  I think I' stuggling to understand the basic of how the data is passed from activities esp using
    the 'flatten outpout method..  My current runbook has the fllowing activities:
    GetAlert -> Run .Net (powershell for filtering for breaced alerts) -> AppendFile (to Check the alert output) -> Create/Send Email(to send summary email).  What happens is if I have say 4 Breached emails in Console, when I run tester I
    see GetAlert runs Once detail shows it has found 4 alerts), then each activity up the chain runs 4 times so that finally I end up with 4 emails.
    If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated - I can provide any more details/upload pic of current runbook if it helps...
    Thanks...

    Hi thanks for the suggestion.  I've tried playing around with the runbook using the Junction activity infront of the sendmail.  It doesnt appear to do anyting in itself (unless I'm not using it correctly).  The only way I can get the email
    to only send once is if I flatten the output from the returned data behaviour - this works if I flatten at the Get Alert stage without the Junction activity or if I use the junction an flatten it then the email fires once.
    However the problem with this is that each field for each alert is written vertically, so if I have 3 alerts returning 3 pieces of returned data I get:
    <Alert1 datafield1>
    <Alert2 datafield1>
    <Alert3 datafield1>
    <Alert1 datafield2>
    <Alert2 datafield2>
    <Alert3 datafield2>
    <Alert1 datafield3>
    <Alert2 datafield3>
    <Alert3 datafield3>
    wereas I wan the dat to appear in horizonally with each alert details on each row as like when written to a file, ie
    <Alert1 datafield1> <Alert1 Datafield2> <Alert1 DataField3>
    <Alert2 datafield1> <Alert2 Datafield2> <Alert2 DataField3>
    <Alert3 datafield1> <Alert3 Datafield2> <Alert3 DataField3>
    Without the use of flatten, the email which fires once for each alert has the data displayed correctly.  So essentially what I'm hoping to get is all returned alert details one per line/row in the body of the email...
    If theres any easy way to do it withing the orchestrator activities would be great.  Otherwise it looks like I might have to try find a powershell or SQL script to pull back alert data.  Cheers...

  • Report showing Critical/Warning alerts in New resolution state 1 day old

    Hi,  Has anyone come up with a SQL query that will pull this information correctly - there are a few other posts I've read that mentioned the perculiarity that resolution state isnt updated on original alert and instead 'pairs' of alerts ar created
    with one having the new state (0) and the associated one with the closed state(255).  I'm aware the active alerts are stored in OpsDB and then groomed to DataWarehouse, and its a bit of a minefield to know where to pull the various properties from - I've
    seem some examples with very complicated joins between the various tables.
    I am also wondering where the console gets the 'Age' property of an alert (In Monitoring Pane), is it held in one of the tables Which I can directly reference or is it a calulates field which the console displays/formats as days/hours.
    A version of the script I'm hacking away with is as below - it gives me some of the detail but not sure how to get it to display the specific criteria needed (Critical/Warning in state New > 1 day old).  If anyone can supply a working script (for
