Adapter Module Problem

Hi All,
I am following the PDF "How to create Modules for J2EE Adapter Engine". I developed the module for Mail Adapter and implemented in a File->XI->Mail scenario.
The problem is when i am testing the scenario, i am getting chequered flag in SXMB_MONI and adapter monitor is not showing any error and it is also not showing message is being sent status.
scenario is running perfectly after removing this module from module chain.
So i am not able to get where the error lies.
Any help is appriciated.
Thanks and Regards,
Alok.

hi,
did you check the adapter monitor?
http://hostname:portnumber/MessagingSystem/monitor/monitor.jsp
did you put any adapter logs in your adapter java code?
to see if the adapter gets invoked etc?
if not do it for
AuditLogStatus.SUCCESS or AuditLogStatus.ERROR:

  • Mail Adapter Module Problem!

    Hi All
    I m facing a problem in implementing a custom mail adapter module.
    The scenario is to set the content type based on the file type. eg: if the file being sent is a pdf then content type should be "application/pdf".
    I hope the scenario is clear, please feel free to ask for clarifications.
    awaiting your replies.

    public class CustomerMeter implements SessionBean, <u>Module</u>{
    it is showing error on the  above underlined things that it cannot resolve these things.
    can anybody suggest where to locate these librarys in Project - Properties - Java Build Path - Libraries path from the main menu.

    Hi Amit,
    On changing the ejb-jar.xml as you said:

  • Adapter module - problem with XML

    Hi all
    I have written an adapter module for the sender jdbc adapter(it shouldn't matter which adapter) that converts the content into xml by addressing each byte of the message content.
    I am able to make the xml but when the message reaches the integration server it throws up a mapping exception. When I look at the payload in SXI_MONITOR it says -
    Invalid at the top level of the document. Error processing resource 'file:/// ........
    But when I right click on the payload and do "view source" and then save the text document and then refresh the payload in the payload window it shows me the xml document.
    Would you have any idea as to why the IS doesn't recognise the message to be an xml message?
    Thanks a lot
    Salil

    Hi Bhavesh
    Yup it's a perfectly valid xml. I tried saving it as a file to my desktop and it opened fine in my browser. As I mentioned earlier even when I do a "view source" of the payload and then save that and subsequently refresh the payload it shows up fine too.
    Actually here is the payload. i am wondering if all it needs is a carriage return after the <?xml tag.

  • Problem with mail adapter module in PI 7.11

    Hi,
    I modified our adapter module from PI 7.0 to be compatible with PI 7.11 SPS3. I followed the instruction in http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index;jsessionid=(J2EE3417300)ID1491632150DB11633962752589437606End?rid=/library/uuid/c0b39e65-981e-2b10-1c9c-fc3f8e6747fa&overridelayout=true and successfully deployed the adapter module using NWDS for PI 7.1. However, I am encountering this error in the communication channel monitoring:
    Exception caught during processing mail message com.sap.aii.af.lib.mp.module.ModuleException.
    I don't see any other details in the communication channel monitoring to help me determine the cause of the problem after this error message line. In NWDS, there was no error when I excute build the project. During deployment in NWDS, it says deployment was successful. When I check in NWA, I can find that the adapter module has been deployed successfully. I even tried to re-create the whole adapter module from scrach following the documentation for the 2nd time and still I got the same error message.
    I am using java SDK 6.
    Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Elbert

    Hi,
    This problem is now solved. I am using the correct version of NWDS for PI7.1 and using java 1.6 will not cause any problem.
    The problem was caused by the source data being zipped instead of the unzipped version that my module is expecting. Furthermore, since my module comes before the mail bean, there is no details in the communication channel monitoring that the data sent was a wrong format.

  • Problem changing XML element in Adapter Module

    Hey!
    I am developing an adapter module to transform a coded password back to clear text. I have access to the XML element where the password is and I get to transform it, but I have 2 problems as also stated in the code:
    1) I cannot set the new value back to the node. I try with
    firstNode.getFirstChild().setNodeValue(decodedPwd);
    but this does not seem to work. How can I achieve this?
    2) Between the first issue and the code
    msg.setDocument(xmlpayload);
    I am not sure how to get my new values for the node back in the XMLPayload. How can I achieve this?
    Here is the code:
    msg = (Message) inputModuleData.getPrincipalData();
              XMLPayload xmlpayload = msg.getDocument();
              factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
              DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
              Document document = builder.parse((InputStream)xmlpayload.getInputStream());
              password = (Element)document.getElementsByTagName("ns1:passord").item(0);
              firstNode = password.getFirstChild();
              pwd = firstNode.getNodeValue();
              if(pwd != null){
                   decodedPwd = Decoder.decodeString(pwd);
    // THIS FAILS!
              firstNode.getFirstChild().setNodeValue(decodedPwd);
    //HOW TO SET NEW NODE VALUE TO XMLPAYLOAD HERE?
              msg.setDocument(xmlpayload);
              inputModuleData.setPrincipalData(msg);
                   return inputModuleData;
    Help is much appreciated!
    Thanks!
    regards Ole

    Hey!
    The problem was solved. The code snipped I found was:
                   DOMSource DOMSource = new DOMSource(document);
                   ByteArrayOutputStream myBytes = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
                   Result dest = new StreamResult(myBytes);
                   TransformerFactory tf = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
                   Transformer serializer = tf.newTransformer();
                   serializer.transform(DOMSource, dest);
                   byte[] docContent = myBytes.toByteArray();
                   xmlpayload.setContent(docContent);
                   msg.getDocument().setContent(xmlpayload.getContent());

  • Bean problem with creating Adapter Module in NW developer studio

    Hi Gurus!
    I started to develop an adapter module like described in
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/02706f11-0d01-0010-e5ae-ac25e74c4c81
    Unfortunatelly, I'm getting error described on page 9 of the document:
    Bean problem: no interface classes found
    I cannot resolve this problem. I've tried it also like described in the document, but no success.
    Any ideas of what could be wrong?
    Thank you!

  • ModuleData.getPrincipalData returns null in the adapter module development

    Hi gurus,
    i am doing a test on the adapter module development following an article written by William Li:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0ac06cf-6ee2-2c10-df98-e17430ca5949?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true
    my problem is after the EJB has been deployed, it seems that the return of inputModuleData.getPrincipalData() is always null which makes the program can not get the xml payload from the framework.
    the main process of the example has been simplified like this:
         public ModuleData process(ModuleContext moduleContext, ModuleData inputModuleData) throws ModuleException {
              Object           obj = null;
              try {
              obj = inputModuleData.getPrincipalData();
              Message     msg1 = (Message) obj;
                    XMLPayload xmlpayload = msg1.getDocument();}
              catch (Exception e) {
                   ModuleException me = new ModuleException(e);
                   throw me;
              return inputModuleData;
    after deployed, i get the following error in the adapter monitor of RWB: (my JNDI is testtest)
    17.02.2012 17:13:44.643 Information Send binary file  "test8.xml" from FTP server "10.18.48.150:/encrypt_test/", size 206 bytes with QoS EO

              Object           obj = null;
              try {
                   obj = inputModuleData.getPrincipalData();
                   Message     msg1 = (Message) obj;
                   if (obj != null )
                        XMLPayload xmlpayload = msg1.getDocument();
              catch (Exception e) {
                   ModuleException me = new ModuleException(e);
                   throw me;
              return inputModuleData;
    the file can be read by the file adapter.
    i just quite confused that why the return of the getPrincipalData() is null? where is the problem? thanks
    Edited by: Stephen Xue on Feb 17, 2012 5:22 AM

    I'm gonna reply to myself here. I changed the processing sequence of the adapter modules in the  in the FileSender channel so that my module comes first then CallSapAdapter. Then getPrincipalData() contains the message.
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • SAP PI crashes because of Custom Adapter module

    Hi,
    We are facing a strange problem. We have deployed a custom adapter module developed in java which accesses a Hardware Security Module(HSM) and uses the keys in HSM to digitally sign our data. Now, when I use particular methods in this code and deploy it on PI server, the server crashes while testing this out. As soon as I run the channel having this adapter module, PI server becomes unavailable. It restarts on its own after a few minutes.
    One of the reasons I identified to be causing this issue is the signing mechanism used in code. When I used a mechanism that was not supported or not correct, it crashed the server. If i corrected it, it worked fine. I found no other thing in my code causing this behaviour apart from this mechanism. But I am still not able to understand how a single method in a code can cause the whole server to crash. Has anybody here faced such a problem? Any pointers would be appreciated.
    We are using SAP PI 7.31 java only installation.
    Thanks,
    Ravi Desai

    Hi Ravi
    1. To check if it is a memory issue. Once you start the channel, check the memory usage in nwa. Check if the memory is increasing once the channel is started.
    2. Add debug statements to print logs in default traces at as many places as possible. Since your code is not reaching the Catch block, using the debug statement you can reach the line in the code which is causing this issue.

  • Setting the charset from an adapter module

    Hi folks,
    I'm trying to set the charset encoding of a payload using an adapter module (I know there is a TextCodepageConverterBean, but I want to set the charset for a message that hasn't one yet). The problem is probably more clear using an example.
    I output a UTF-8 flat string from my message mapping to the adapter framework (mail adapter in my case). Afterwards I want to convert this UTF-8 string to an ISO-8859 encoding with the TextCodepageConverterBean. But if I set the charset using the setContentType() function of my TextPayload object the information gets cut away. I'm using the format
    setContentType("text/plain;charset=utf-8;name=Test.txt")
    . But everything after the first semicolon is dropped. Setting the charset using the MessageTransformBean works, but I want to avoid this by all means, as I need to set the mime type from the adapter module.
    This is running on NW2004 with SP 16 and the latest patch.
    Any idea, why the MessageTransformBean works and not the setContentType call?

    This bug will be fixed with SP20.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Adapter module that dumps file to XI file directory

    I am given a task to find a way of backing up files the simpliest way. Currently, our config is in a scenario where there are 2 receiver, the receiving system (SAP) and the file backup (File adapter). I would want to reduce the config requirements by eliminating the file backup objects. And I am thinking of doing this by creating an adapter module to be included in the sender adapter.
    Another idea I could think of is the adapter module calls upon the file comm channel to do the file backup.
    The purpose of this research is to reduce object transport time and the mistakes the transport guys are doing on the file comm ch reconfiguration.
    To those who have experiences with adapter module development, is this idea feasible?

    Hi Jai,
    Thanks for your reply. That is the 2nd option I have in case the 1st one isnt possible.
    To further elaborate,
    Current config:
    we have two AS2 comm channels (sender and receiver) managing the connection with our external partners.
    File comm channels to backup the files we send and receive.
    The problem:
    We are having problems with the transport guys as they often make mistake on reconfiguring the file comm channel during transport.
    Requirements:
    Reduce object creation and tranport time.
    Solution proposal 1:
    The idea is to remove all existing objects related to file back up and have all the file back ups done by the adapter module. And this adapter module would become part of the as2 comm channels module processes.
    Hope this clarifies things more.

  • Adapter Module Migration in PI 7.1

    Hi,

  • Receiver File Adapter Module processor issue

    Hello all,
    I have deployed (using SDM) a specific module for one of my file communication channel.
    In MDT, I have the following error :
    Exceptions survenues pour Adapter Framework : Object not found in lookup of Module0001
    La diffusion du message vers l'application via File_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System a échoué en raison de : com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Object not found in lookup of Module0001.: com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NameNotFoundException: Object not found in lookup of Module0001.
    Where can be the source of this problem ?
    Thanks a lot

    Jean
    Also check if the "JNDI" name that you have specified in the Receiver Adapter module
    excluding localejbs matches the deployed name in the "J2ee Aministartor Deploy service.
    for example if you have
    localejbs/sap.com/BeanName
    you should have
    the service deployed under
    /sap.com/BeanName
    regards
