Add Captions in gallery_pe

Trying to get the captions to work using the Gallery Demo from "gallery_pe".
Other solutons were using the Original Gallery not the one from the "gallery_pe" directory.
The Original version uses a lot of vars in the gallery.js where as this version is built
to degrade more gracefully so, I don't know how to add the vars or if they are even required.
My xml file is like this:
<photo
path = "Photo21.jpg"
width = "420"
height = "315"
thumbpath = "t_Photo21.jpg"
thumbwidth = "75"
thumbheight = "56"
caption = "caption 1 as attribute">
<caption>caption as element 1</caption>
</photo>
The gallery_xds.js I have added:
function PhotosFilter(ds, row, rowIndex)
    row.attribute_caption = row["photos/photo/@caption"];
    row.element_caption = row["photos/photo/caption"];
Then in the HTML gallery page I added:
    <div spry:detailregion="dsPhotos">Attribute Caption: {attribute_caption}</div>
    <div spry:detailregion="dsPhotos">Attribute Caption: {photos/photo/@caption}</div>
    <div spry:detailregion="dsPhotos">Element Caption: {element_caption}</div>
    <div spry:detailregion="dsPhotos">Element Caption: {photos/photo/caption}</div>
No luck other than have the 1st caption appearing, then it will not update the other xml captions.
Has anybody tryed this successfully using the Gallery Demo from "gallery_pe"?
Regards,
W Bell

We I guess I will try the Original Gallery as I have had no sucess with getting the captions to generate. That does work fine using the other gallery.
I still want to get this to fire the captions:
My xml file:
<thumbnail base ="../../gallery/galleries/china/thumbnails/" font = "Arial" fontsize = "4" color = "#F0F0F0" border = "0" rows = "3" col = "5"> </thumbnail>
<large base ="../../gallery/galleries/china/images/" font = "Arial" fontsize = "3" color = "#F0F0F0" border = "0"> </large>
<photos id = "images">
<photo
path = "china_01.jpg"
width = "263"
height = "350"
thumbpath = "china_01.jpg"
thumbwidth = "56"
thumbheight = "75"
caption = "Caption 1a">
</photo>
<photo
path = "china_02.jpg"
width = "350"
height = "263"
thumbpath = "china_02.jpg"
thumbwidth = "75"
thumbheight = "56"
caption = "Caption 2">
</photo>
<photo
path = "china_03.jpg"
width = "350"
height = "263"
thumbpath = "china_03.jpg"
thumbwidth = "75"
thumbheight = "56"
caption = "Caption 3">
</photo>
</photos>
</gallery>
gallery_xds.js
function PhotosFilter(ds, row, rowIndex)
row.path = row["large/@base"] + row["photos/photo/@path"];
    row.thumbpath = row["thumbnail/@base"] + row["photos/photo/@thumbpath"];
    row.caption = row["photos/photo/@caption"];
    return row;
My HTML:
<div spry:detailregion="dsPhotos"><span id="caption">{caption}</span></div>
So I need to update the html caption, possibly in the SpryThumbViewer.js with a listener or Observer?
Anybody....

  • Re emailing photos from iPhoto: after I create an event, I later add captions, each one beginning with a number. I'd like to email a set of these photos in the order they are captioned, not the original order of the event.  How do I do this?

    I take a number of photos of an event which I download into iPhoto as an Event.  I later add captions to some of the photos in the Event, and I want to share them by email IN THE ORDER OF THE CAPTIONS RATHER THAN IN THE ORDER THEY APPEAR IN THE EVENT.  Each caption begins with a unique number followed by text.  How can I email them in the order of the caption numbers?

    You can't, block capitals notwithstanding. Try using numbered Filenames. But remember how it's all received at the other end is entirely based on the settings on the recipients machine, so it might well be moot.

  • Add captions to all images in a document

    Does anyone already have a script that will add captions to all the images in a document? Right now I have to select each image on each spread which doesn't feel very efficient.

    Hi Sandee!
    Would that be using CS5's automatic caption function, or just "captions in general"?
    If the latter, I s'pose it's not too hard to write a quick & dirty script to add a text frame below (above?) each image, sets its width to the image size, sets the height to a reasonable amount, optionally add an object style to it, and (for instance) copy the image file name into it so you know what you're talking about.
    If the former ... anyone else?

  • How do I add captions to the photos in my slideshow?

    Prior to the new Photos program, I was able to add captions to each photo in my slideshow - especially important for travel slideshows. I can't find any info on that or any function for that.

    Thanks for your response but I can't find those apps under the list of apps in my settings.

  • How do I add captions to pictures?

    I am very new to the MAC world (one week to be exact). I have searched help and can find a method to select the font to add captions to photos but cannot find the method. I want add captions to photos in an album and then use the album to create a slideshow. Any help would be appreciated.

    Another way to put captions in the slideshows is to first put the captions in the Description field that TD mentioned and then use this script to write those descriptions into the Title field to use in the slideshow. When you're done you can use the Photos->Batch Change->Title to File Name.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do you add captions to photos in iDVD slideshows?

    Is there a way to add captions to photos once you've put them into slideshows on iDVD? Or, if not, is there another way to add captions to them, though another apple application such as iPhoto? I haven't been able to figure out how to make captions for photos in iPhoto slideshows either. Please help!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. if you're creating the slideshow from stills in iDVD use the Settings button at the bottom to bright up the pane where you can add titles and comments. The downside of that is every photo will automatically have it's file name or title entered. If you don't want that then while you're in iPhoto use the Photos->Batch Change->Title->None option before you import into iDVD. Then none of them will have the titles entered and you can add them to just those that you want. Or you can add them while in iPhoto before importing.

    The photos.app does not (yet) have the option to add captions or tags. It is not possible right now. You can however search for the captions you added previously using the search field.  You can also search for album names.  So, as a work-around, put photos that should have the same caption into an album with a name like the caption.
    See:  Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8
    You may want to send feedback to Apple, that captions and tags are essential and need to be added in an update. Use this form:   Apple - iPhoto - Feedback

  • Is it REALLY not possible to add captions to a Photo Book?!

    Hi. I have spent the last several days compiling a book of my travels, and overall I'm happy with it except that I CANNOT figure out how to add captions to any of the photos if I haven't selected the ONE format (w/ "postcards", etc) that already leaves space for them. This is really frustrating, since I don't want every single page of my photo album to have the exact same "cutesy" setup, but as it is a gift for my parents I really would like to at least be able to add a few simple captions noting where the photos are from! Is this possible? If I'm gonna drop $40 on a photo book I want it to be the way I want it!!! Please answer whether it's what I want to hear or not! Thank you in advance!
    p.s. I don't think it's possible to change the format out of Travel for only selected pages...is it???

    Yes as posted

  • What Mac App will allow me to add captions to my photos?

    I want to add captions to various places on my photos... how can I do this in iPhoto and/or Aperture?
    Thanks

    In iPhoto and Aperture - and I actually use both - you can use the free BorderFX plugins
    http://www.iborderfx.com/borderfx/
    Or, if you want to use an app that's already on your Mac - and not third party, use Preview. You can set it as an external app in either iPhoto or Aperture.
    And as you don't use either iPhoto or Aperture, let me assure you BDAqua, that you can keep your pics whereever you want with both Aperture and iPhoto.

  • How do I add captions?

    I have pages of copy interspersed with photos.  I would like to add captions over the bottom of the photos.  In GL9 I simply added a floating box and wrote in the copy.  That doesn't seem to work here.  No matter how carefully I think I am positioning the curser (using code view) I cannot get a box over the photo.  If I try to use relative,where do I insert to make it relative to photo. I actually want it inside the photos.
    Thanks.

    DW is much, much easier to use if you learn HTML and CSS basics fist.  90% of the answers given in this forum are in Code speak.  So if you don't know how to work with code, you probably won't understand the answers we give you.
    As an example, look at this photo proof page.
    http://alt-web.com/TEMPLATES/CSS-Semi-liq-photo-sheet.shtml
    The relevant CSS code is like so:
    /**this styles image container**/
    .photos p {
    float:left;
    width:auto;
    height: 14em;
    margin: 10px;
    padding: 10px;
    border: 1px solid silver;
    /**this styles caption text**/
    font: italic 12px/1 Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    color: #666;
    text-align:center;
    /**same size images recommended, adjust as req'rd**/
    .photos img {
    width:  92px;
    height: 124px;
    /**float clearing**/
    .clear_photos {
    clear:left;
    height:1px;
    width: 100%;
    And the HTML code looks like this:
    <body>
    <div class="photos">
    <p><img src="your-image-goes-here.jpg" alt="#"/><br />optional caption</p>
    <p><img src="your-image-goes-here.jpg" alt="#"/><br />optional caption</p>
    <p><img src="your-image-goes-here.jpg" alt="#"/><br />optional caption</p>
    <!--end photos --> </div>
    <!--IMPORTANT! clear floats after photos with a p, br or hr clearing class-->
    <hr class="clear_photos" />
    </body>

    Will Photos app be updated soon to permit add caption to picture like the iPhoto before ios 8 kill it? I used thad feature and now I don't now how can I do. thanks

    I haven't seen any mention of adding the text feature to photos, but Apple is always tight lipped on new features. Try a photo editor app like the one below.

  • Book  1.) show no metadata under the photo, 2.)add caption/text under photo

    Currently the Photo name is shown in the book under each photo. 1.) I would like to hide this information for printing. I played with the setting "enable/disable plate metadata" , but it has not impact, it shows the data no matter what this setting is.
    2.) At the same time I would like to add my captions under selected photos. How to do this?
    Thank you

    Hi Peter,
    1) For printing, I would delete the plate metadata completely. Go to Edit Layout mode, then click on the metadata box and press delete.
    2) To add captions, again go to Edit Layout mode, click the "Add Text Box" button - this places a text box on the page you're working on. You can then drag this box wherever you like. To add text, double click in the box and type away. To format your caption, click the Edit menu, then select Show Fonts. Just make sure the text is selected before you try to change the size or font.
    Hope this helps.
