Add depreciation area

Hi,
Can we add depreciation areato the existing assets. Earlier I did not add tax depreciation. Can I. Pls explain me.
Thanks!
Kotte

Hi,
Yes.  Configure the new area as normal, then in the system required run Trx
AFBN to add the area to existing assets.
Note:- the new area will not be added to assets that have been deactivated.

  • Add depreciation area to old assets (revaluation area)

    Hi guys,
I've created a new depreciation area for setting revaluation of assets. This new dep area only contains revaluation of assets (we'll only have revaluation and depreciation of this revaluation in this new area), so I've configured it to manage only revaluation values. Acquisition values are not allowed.
In OABC i've put "00" in the area where this new area takes values from, due to i don't want thhis new area to copy acquisitions values from area 01.
I've made the rest of the configuration also, to support revaluation transactions (mov 800) in this new area. But, I've got 2 problems now:
    1. The new area i configured is missing when creating a new asset in AS01. However, when using AS91 the new area shows up. Any idea of why this happens that way?
    2. I cannot add the new area in old assets. When using AFBN a message appears: "Depreciation area 20, which you want to create as a new depreciation area in chart of depreciation PVPE, has no depreciation area defined for value takeover. This may be be correct for normal operation, however for the purposes of creating a new depreciation in the productive system, you have to enter a depreciation area whose values are used as base values for the new area."
Message makes sense, because my new area is not copying values from any area (in tcode OABC i defined 00 as dep area source). The question is.. is there any additional tcode where i can add the new depreciation area to old assets?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    there are the following steps:
    1. Create Depreciation area via OADB.
    2. Activate Depreciation area via OAYZ.
    3. Automatic opening of new depreciation are via AFBN and program RAFABNEW :
3.1 - Indicator: Leave values initial = not ticked.
The system will copy all the past years values from
               depreciation area 01.
3.2 - Indicator: Leave values initial = ticked.
Set this indicator if you want to open the newly created
depreciation area without any values i.e. blank.
    4. Recalculate depreciation via AFAR and program RAAFAR00.
    Following notes for information:

  • Add first depreciation area

    Hi,
The asset class was set with no active depreciation area. The assets were created within this asset class. (For some reasons it was ok- only master data without values.)
Now the asset class was changed and deprecation area 01 is active. The new assets are created with depreciation area.
How can I add depreciation area  to old assets? TC AFBN need the reference depreciation area but there is no one.
    thanks
    Ryszard

    Thanks for reply,
It is solution I try avoid. I have 4000 position of this assets. After two years of using the user said it will be better to add values to these assets and the problem occurs.
After changing the assets I will post an acquisition to them.
    Thanks,

  • Add a existing depreciation area to an existing asset

    Dear All,
We have erroneously deactivated the main depreciation area (book depreciation) on an legacy take over asset. How can we reactivate the same?
    History so far:
We took over legacy assets on 30.06.2005 (when we went live) in the Asset Management module. All the legacy values were taken over. Depreciation was run and subsequently year 2005 was closed in the Asset Management module.
After almost 15 months we found that one legacy asset does not have the main depreciation area (book depreciation) activated.
I tried substitution rules, but the field ANLB-AFABE is not available for substitution. Even when I add this to the table GB01 (Bool Class 30) it does not become available for substitution.
Can some one advise, if they have faced a similar problem.
    Regards

    hi,
subst. will never work in such a case!
    suggestion:
transfer asset to new asset with correct depr.-parameters with <b>abumn</b>
and run afab for the new asset
    A.

  • Updating fully depreciated assets during creation of subsequent depreciation area

I am subsequently adding multiple depreciation areas in SAP. The system has been live for many years with a legacy system handling the depreciation for the tax books via dual maintenance.  I have been able to bring in the new areas via AFBN without issue except for one thing.  Many of these assets are fully depreciated in Book01 in SAP but they have remaining tax life. The problem is when the asset is fully depreciated and I assign it cost or try to make a change in the depreciation area tab it automatically fully depreciates those values.
Has anyone ran into this before? What options are there to provide a solution?
To recap; Want to add tax book values to assets already live in SAP. Issue is assets already fully depreciated. Any adjustment to keys and UL on them results in a calculation but regardless it fully depreciates whatever that amount will be.
    Many thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,
I suppose, there are some settings somewhere, which do not allow the asset to have values.
    Presumption:
    1) AFAMA - Base method -Treatment of end of life: In the depreciation key: there is not "dep. after pland. life end"  allowed
    2) In OADB there are wrong settings (perhaps no positive acquisition values allowed)
    3) Perhaps this is constitutional area and in OADB there is rule for the derived area which is broken.
    Best regards Bernhard

  • New Depreciation Area tobe added to the existing Assets

    Hi,
I had Run OAYZ to activate a depreciation area for a Asset Class
I run AFBN to add this new depreciation area to the existing assets.
When I go to Assets Explorer (AW01N) I get following area
Values for Ordinary deprec. have changed in dep. area 13 in fiscal year 2007
        Message no. AU390
    Diagnosis
Depreciation terms were changed in depreciation area 13 since the last
time depreciation was recalculated. The values for Ordinary deprec. that
were saved in the database in fiscal year 2007 are therefore different
from the newly calculated values by an amount of
        476.41-.
    Procedure
Check if the newly calculated values are correct. If they are, then
carry out a depreciation recalculation. You should be aware that if you
recalculate depreciation, new values could arise for all open fiscal
years, and these would then have to be posted to the general ledger by
means of a depreciation posting run.
If, on the other hand, you want to keep the values that are saved in the
database, you have to set the depreciation terms back to how they were
at the time of the last depreciation recalculation.
To see a comparison of the old and new values, you can use the Display
dep. calc. function in the asset value display or the Recalculate values
function in the Asset Accounting menu.
    Proceed
Now if I try to click on proceed and recalculate the depreciation (AFAR) the system gives error
40001        0    WRK SURF FOR RDQ WRKPROJCT RMS-RSCH DATA OP.   2007 Error
    in dep. calculation
        Message no. BL001
Pl. guide me for the same.

    Hi Sanjay,
Execute T Code AFBN and add the new depreciation areas to the existing assets. This will add the new dep area to all the assets under the particular char of depreciation.

  • Use of Different Fiscal Year Variant-Statistical Depreciation Area Postings

An existing Company Code in SAP is going to have Fixed Assets implemented.  This Company Code is setup just like the others in our SAP instance: Same Chart of Accounts, Same Fiscal Year Variant, Fixed Asset procedures, etc.  For purposes of this question our company's Fiscal Year is from August 1st to July 31st.  In addition, this Company Code will post Fixed Assets just like the other SAP enabled Company Codes into Book Depreciation Area 01.  The company I work with is on ECC 6 but we use the Classic Ledger for Financials, and the Special Ledger is posted to but not really utilized.
For the Country Specific/Tax Reporting purposes within Fixed Asset Accounting we have created a Statistical Depreciation Area 03 (I will call it Tax) with its own Life and Depreciation Key assignments with a setting of 0 in OADB-No Posting in GL for this Fixed Asset go-live, so I think we are set there.  The tricky part comes in the reporting.  The country in question requires information to be generated on a Calendar Year basis, which is obviously different than the Fiscal Year outlined above.  To my knowledge we would have to assign Tax Depreciation Area 03 to the Calendar Fiscal Year Variant: Financial Accounting>>Asset Accounting>>Valuation>>Fiscal Year>>Fiscal Year Variants>>Specify Other Versions on Depreciation Area Level.
The other piece of this is to get the Fixed Asset Reporting for Tax Depreciation Area 03 to work on a Calendar Year basis for the Company Code in question.  When I did some research I stumbled upon the link below.  In summary it says that you have to manipulate the standard Fixed Assets reports in Excel for Asset Acquisitions and Depreciation, and setup a new Retirement routine/transaction for posting into the Special Depreciation Area.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/05/bc0bf3d8f811d1953e0000e82debf7/content.htm
    My questions are:
    1) Besides assigning a different Fiscal Year Variant for Tax Depreciation Area 03, is there anything else I need to worry about on the setup end?
    2) Is the article I posted accurate when it comes to how the reporting works and the need for setting up a Calendar Year specific Asset Retirement Routine?  If so, what are the configuration steps for setting up a Calendar Year specific Asset Retirement Routine?
    3) Is there anything else that I need to consider for enabling Fixed Assets at an existing Company Code with different Reporting requirements for Book/Tax purposes?
Thanks in advance for all responses.  I am willing to answer any other questions on this subject if needed.
    Roman

Hello Rio.  In our scenario, we still had to load assets in the legal entity with this issue.  When we loaded the fixed asset data into SAP we did with data accurate as of December 31, 2011; which for book purposes is 5 months into our company's fiscal year, and for tax purposes is the end of the 2011 calendar year.  The calendarized reporting for the tax depreciation will need to be pieced together manually using the SAP recommended methodology of combining report values, which I have pasted below.
Since this is the only SAP-enabled entity that has this scenario right now we are in wait and see mode to see if this sufficient.  In the end the SAP path for Dual Calendar was too much of a risk.
    I hope this helps.

  • Post revaluation to selected depreciation area of an asset

    Hi,
We are using depreciation area '01' for posting to GL accounts and '02' for fiscal reporting. It turned out that couple of assets had wrong depreciation key specified for depreciation area '02', which resulted in wrong depreciation calculated for '02' in last 3 years.
We would like to correct it now, once we discovered this issue. One of the ideas was to create new revaluation transaction type which is active only for depreciation area '02', which will only change value of asset in that particuaral area without affecting correct '01',
However, after configuring new transaction type in AO84 and assigning it to '02' depreciation area in OAXJ, when I tried to run ABAW for this asset - it gave me error AA 380.
'Inconsistency between the specifications for transaction type Z11 and for the depreciation areas in chart of depreciation PTI.
Depreciation area 02 is defined (in Customizing), so that it is required to take over values from area 01. However, one of these ares cannot be posted to, due to the specifications in transaction type Z11. This combination is not allowed.'
Is it possible to configure postings only to one depreciaton area? If not - is there any other easy way of revaluating only one depreciation area for an asset.
    Thank you,
    Karol

    Hi Blaz,
Thank you for your reply. I am trying to increase the value of the asset in depreciation area 02, because due to wrong depreciation key it got fully depreciated last year in 02. I want to add the value to 02 which should have not been depreciated in last 2 years. Is there a way to increase its value using ABAA?
    Thank you,
    Karol

  • Invalid Evaluation Parameter in line 0.  SPecified Depreciation Area

Hi! Im using SBO 8.8 PL 11
Upon adding new fixed asset master data, im encountering the error "Invalid Evaluation Parameter in line 0.  SPecified Depreciation Area"...
Also, the selection list of the existing masterdata is available.   However, after i chose an item, no item is retrieved in hte fixed asset masterdata form.
Help.  What do i need to check or do??
    Camille

    Hi,
From previous reported issues on this, our experience is that the cause of this issue is the version of SQL server.
Referring to B1 8.8 install CD\Documentation\SystemSetup\ AdministratorGuide_SQL.pdf, you will find the following part:
To properly use the SAP Business One Fixed Assets add-on on Microsoft SQL Server 2005, make sure that you have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP3 installed.
Upgrade MS SQL Server to SP3(build 9.0.4035), or SQL Server 2008(build 10.0.1600), the fixed assets should be working.
Let us know if this helps,

  • Revaluation Depreciation Area

    Hi Guys,
I had created a new revaluation depreciation area in OADB transaction.
My question is, this new area should be set up as "area posts in real time" or "Area does not post"?!?
    Thanks

    Hi,
May I add some more information regarding posting indicator 1 in OADB:
You can have more than one area posting real time to general ledger, however not all of them can have APC values.
In most cases, depreciation area 01 is set with indictor "posting to GL = 1" and manages APC
    values.
Please check the definition of your revaluation area in that way that the depreciation does not manage APC at all (T093-VZANSW = "0"). In this case you can use also posting indicator 1 for your revaluation area.
    Kind regards,
    Brigitte

I have done the consistency check and it shows no errors in depreciation area set up.
When Trying to settle an internal order in KO88 to a fixed asset I am getting the below error message.
*Data inconsistency: Parallel depr. area is not posted Message no. AAPO104*
    Diagnosis
For chart of depreciation ZCH, you defined this area (or these areas) as parallel depreciation areas for depreciation area 01. In the current transaction, however, not all of these areas are posted. This is not allowed.
    Procedure
Check if the transaction type is limited to certain depreciation areas. If there is such a limitation, add the missing depreciation areas for the transaction type.
Check if the asset that is being posted manages all these depreciation areas.
I have checked the transaction types and they are not limited to any depreciation areas. I have activated depreciatio areas in the asset class and maintained the account determination nad assigned g/l accounts.
Please help me if I have missed any settings.
    Thanks & Regards
    Nirmala

    Hi,
AAPO104 is generally a customizing error:  the check points to consider are generally the following regarding parallel currencies: I think you have checked most of them already...
    * The parall. dep. area must have the same settings as the original area (e.g. allowing APC).
    * The parall. dep. area must set for identical values take over.
    * The parall. dep. area must set for identical parameter take over.
    * The parall. dep. area must be assigned to the currency type which is defined as parallel in FI in trx. OB22 (e.g. 30).
    * The parall. dep. area must be activated in the asset class (transaction OAYZ)
Furthermore, a problem can also be that in OABT you have a parallel area customized, taking value from another area, which is customized and seen in T093. If for example this parall.area is missing on your Asset Under Construction but is there on the final asset this obviously will create the error AAPO104, too.
In any case check your settings are correct in regards to parallel depreciation areas. They must manage same values as original areas. If they don't it cannot be a parallel area.
Maybe you also need to consider the information in SAP note 317806.
Also, looking at your different depreciation areas above, it looks that you have set up a ledger scenario (areas 01 , 02 and 29). I wonder, do you have a correct set up for the parallel currency for your ledger scenario? If I am not mistaken, I don't see a derived parallel currency area. Could this be the problem?

    Brigitte

  • Hide Depreciation Area

    Hello,
The user requests that one of the depreciation area (Area 02: Tax depreciation on balance sheet values) will be masked.
There are changes that were made on that depreciation area 02 and he doesn't want them to be displayed.
When he open Transaction AW01N - Asset Explorer, he don't want that informations about Dep. Area 02 appears.
    Thanks
    Tarek

don't agree with Deactivation suggestion. I think you want users not to see the value in Dep Area 02 and not deactivate it. If you deactivate then system would not calculate any value.
My suggestion is ask your Basis Person to check in AW01N TCode if he has option for Data Element AFABE (Depreciation Area). If so then you can add Dep Area which you want users to see in this field and Basis then can create a role using this Data Element and assign to respective users.
    Thanks,
    Sanjay
