Add the action listener to a JLabel

Hi,
I created a custom JLabel. This should work like a JButton.
So how i can add a method like
MyLabel.addActionListener(ActionListener aListener);The action listener can simulated through the mouseClicked method to get a simillar effect but
the action listener method is more oop.
So any ideas?
regards,
Olek

Edit: I remember seeing this at JavaRanch a while back. Perhaps it will be useful to you:

    1. Make sure that key events are enabled on your component. (AWTMulticaster.enableEvents(...)

    Hi,
    it is easy: create an entity object for every table and one view object where you select your both entity objects and join them in your select statement.
    Your desired 'confirm' functionality could be achieved with helpp of view object transient attributes - for more information see: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/b31974/bcquerying.htm#CHDHJHBI

  • A bridge between the page and the EO using the action listener

    hi
    i have a requirement that when pressing a button i want some action to be performed and this action is related to some field in the database.
    i have the problem that i don't know how to reach the EO from the action on the screen
    answer by John Stegeman:
    Put an actionlistener on the button, and in the backing bean call a method (that you will write) to do the same thing and set the attribute in the VO, not the EO.
    please can u give me more details
    thanks

    User,
    In the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL developers - section 8 shows how to put some code in your Application Module to do model manipulation.
    Section 21.6 shows how to call that method from an ADF Faces web page via the binding layer.
    Best,
    John

  • JComboBox.removeItem() automatically calls the action listener

    Hi, these are segments of my code:
    static JComboBox selectSection = new JComboBox(new DefaultComboBoxModel(sectionsTitles));
    selectSection.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    String title = (String)selectSection.getSelectedItem();
    String content = InfoProvider.getSectionContent(title);
    sectionTitle.setText("Section title:" + title);
    sectionContent.setText("Section content:" + content);
    selectSection.removeItemAt(index);
    The last line of code automatically invokes the method of the action listeners.
    Anybody any clues to what I should to prevent this from happening?

  • Add an action listener to a dynamically generated button...

    The use case is that i generate programatically some RichCommandButton(it's oracle ADF) and wanna associate with that button a method (as i do statically in .jspx [actionListener="#{method that has ActionEvent as parameter}"])...
    Problem is that i get {code}java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: wrong number of arguments{code} when i press the button...
    My code is as follows:
    {code}
    RichCommandButton closeBtn = new RichCommandButton();
    closeBtn.setText("X");
    // next to bind it to an action
    FacesContext faces = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    Application app = faces.getApplication();
    ExpressionFactory ef = app.getExpressionFactory();
    MethodExpression me =
    ef.createMethodExpression(faces.getELContext(),
    "#{backingBeanScope.backing_untitled1.remove}",
    Object.class,
    new Class[] { ActionEvent.class });
    closeBtn.setActionExpression(me);
    // Add components
    toolbar.getChildren().add(closeBtn);
    {code}
    and the remove method is :
    {code}
    public void remove(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
    // Add event code here...
    System.out.println("s-a declansat remove");
    {code}
    Can anyone help with this... it more JSF than ADF...
    thanks,
    kquizak

    You need UICommand#addActionListener() rather than UICommand#setActionExpression().

  • Unable to add the Listener class in project .

    Hi friends ,
    I'm using deploytool of Sun's AppServer 8.2.
    I'm not abel to add the Eventlistener class in the project.
    In the Help Menu the given following discription to Add the Event Listener call
    Web Application WAR File -> Event Listeners tabbed pane
         1. Click Add to add an event listener to the Event Listener Classes list.
         Locate any event listener classes contained in this WAR file in the drop-down list in the Event Listener Classes      pane.
         (note:There is no any drop-down list in in the Event Listener Classes pane.)
    2. If the event listener class is not in the list, in the General tab, click Edit and to go to the Edit Contents      dialog box where the event listener class can be added to the contents of the WAR file. Upon return the event      listener class will be in the pull-down list.
              (note:But the listener class is present in General tab ,WEB-INF->classes->listeners(In the Contents of the           General tab.))
    How could i resolved this , i mean how to add Event Listener Classes in project ?
    (Same problem while adding error page and filter classes which are also present in the General tab)
    Regards,
    Sachin Warang.

    I suggest using NetBeans IDE 5.5, which integrates easily with various appservers, including Sun Java System Application Server.

    1. set partialSubmit=true for the "search" button
    2. set "search" button id as partialTrigger in your result table

  • ADF TUTORIAL: PROBLEMS WITH "Export Collection Action Listener"

    hello all,

    firefox 3.6.13
    tutorial: Developing Ajax-Based User Interfaces with JSF: An Introduction to ADF Faces Rich Client Components
    url: http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/jdev/obe11jdev/ps1/adf_richclient/adfrichclient.htm
    mainstep: "working with menus"
    substep: number 5 "add collection action listener"
    until the step "working with menus" works everthing fine. after i added the collection action listener and saved my work, the webapplication will not open. i see only a blank page and no error message.
    when i delete the action listener works everything fine again.
    how can i fix this issue? thx to everyone.
    best regards
    gunnar

    I'm not sure if this is going to help anyone , but if you're stuck at that point of the tutorial , try to drop the "Export Collection Action Listener" onto the menuItem "Export To Excel" not under it;
    So the xml under the source tab should look something like this :
    <f:facet name="menus">
    <af:menu text="My Options" id="m2" detachable="true">
    <af:commandMenuItem text="Export To Excel" id="cmi1">
    <af:exportCollectionActionListener type="excelHTML"
    exportedId="t1"/>
    </af:commandMenuItem>
    <af:commandMenuItem text="Show Specials" id="cmi2">
    <af:showPopupBehavior popupId=":::p1"/>
    </af:commandMenuItem>
    </af:menu>
    Hope this helped somebody .

  • Mulitple action listener

    Hi,
    I have multiple frames,dialog,etc. for all of those components and components inside it i want to add my own actionlistener class.
    for example,
    in a frame say theres a button called A. in the action listener of A i want to have attached the functionality of my actionlistener class and the action listener of A that is already defined for that frame. How do you do this. I cannot use extends as the frame already extends another class.
    thank you for your answer.

    in a frame say theres a button called A. in the action listener of A i want to have attached the
    functionality of my actionlistener class and the action listener of A that is already defined for that >frame.You can make your frame or dialog implements ActionListener which means that within the frame or dialog, you must have an actionPerformed method. Then, you can use the same actionPerform method like this:
    public class myFrame extends JFrame implements ActionListener {
       public myFrame() {
          super("Test Frame");
          JButton btn=new JButton("test");
          btn.addActionListener(this);    //
       public void actionPerformed (ActionEvent evt) {
    // do whatever here
    };o)
    V.V.

  • I am trying to create a button in flash that will display 4 separate images at the same time when clicked.  I can't get the images to stay on when I take the mouse of the button.  I need the actions script code to make this happen.

    I am trying to create a button in flash that will allow the user to click on the button and 4 separate images show up at the same time.  I can get the images to appear when I click the button but they will not stay on the screen.  I need to know what code I use to make the images stay once the button is clicked, then I need to know exactly where I place that code.  It does not appear to be possible to add the action code to the buttons layer since each time I add a new layer I just get another "up" "over" "down" and "hit" line.
    Thank you in advance
    AP

    It is not clear how you are trying to realize this from your description.  If you are trying to create this within a button symbol it will not work.  Explain your approach and if there is code involved, show what you have so far.

  • How can i disable an Action listener temporary?

    hi folks,
    I have a GUI with many Jcomboxes. Each one of them has an actionlistener.
    The idea was: when one of those comboboxes is selected, then the selected value will appear on ALL the comboboxes (by using setSelectedIndex(int index)).
    The problem is when i select a value on ONE of those comboboxes and set it on the others, the actionListener thinks that i selcted a value on the other comboboxes and starts setting the values again... I other words if i select one combobox i obtain an endless loop...
    Is it possible to disable the action listener temporary when setting the selectd values on the other comboboxes?

    Just use removeActionListener and then addActionListener

  • I need a code example for an action listener for a jcheckbox using matisse

    I am trying to make it so that when some body clicks a jcheckbox it will put a figure into a jtextfield. Because I am using matisse I need to know the code for the action listener and I need to know quickly as well so I don't have time to look it up with searches etc.
    Can anbody provide me with some example code please.

    I thought that as you are all more experienced than I am that you would know where to look and as you would have already been to all of the sites you would have been able to save me a lot of time looking for the best one. I didn't mean to insult you sorry, I knew that I would be looking for a long time and hoped that some one could help speed that up for me.
    Any way I have obviously annoyed you in that thread earlier this week. I know that you are all pee'd at me and don't believe me and that is fine. • Custom button with action listener - will not invoke action listener

    Hi
    For whatever reason, I cannot find a concise example of a simple custom component that can invoke an action listener. The tutorials I've read so far either ignore this fundamental topic or only make the slightest make reference to it.
    The best I have come up with - in terms of a simple prototype is below... but, the action listener is never invoked.... Can someone tell me what I am missing (full code below). Hopefully, what is missing or incorrect will be obvious to you JSF experts out there.
    Thanks for any help!!

    got it working....
    The changes were:
    in "SpecialBtnRenderer"...
    --new--

    --old--
                        mb.invoke(context, new Object[0]);
    in "SpecialBtnTag"...
    --new--
    import javax.faces.event.ActionEvent;
    --new--
                    MethodBinding mb = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().createMethodBinding(specialBtnListener, new Class[]{ActionEvent.class});
    --old--
                    MethodBinding mb = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().createMethodBinding(specialBtnListener, null);
    -Below is the entire application, again -- for those (like myself) who need concrete examples...
