Add video clip to an online grant application

I have been asked to help a friend add some video to an online grant application. Just wondering if anyone has done this?

I think this is wide open since it probably depends upon the format used for the grant application. You would have to provide that (i.e., a link to the application site) and somebody would have to explore it. The only definite way I could think would be to simply post the video on a web site and put a link into the application text. I would check the permissibility of that. My own experience with grant applications is National Science Foundation and they are pretty strict about putting in extras.

  • Flash CMS - ability to add video clips

I have a client who would like to be able to add video clips
to their Flash site without having to get into and edit the Flash
file. Is this realistic, or should I stick to setting up a CMS for
them to edit text, and I just continue to add video clips for
    them?

    Hi there
Normally Captivate only understands the FLV format. You probably need to find a converter to convert the clips to FLV.

  • Add  video  clips to library

Most camera shoot video clips now including some DSLRs. So add video clips to library and view video clips. I not talking about adding a new module but I would like to add those Point and shoot AVI files to the library and be able to view them.

After nearly two years of frustration both with LR itself and with the commentary posted by LR developers I am compelled to voice a certain question/complaint. Please understand that I have followed the requests and responses in this forum and elsewhere very closely since LR's inception (and earlier). My mind is very open to the various ways that different people work and the limitations of both current technology and development time. I understand that LR is a baby and will grow more and more useful over time as newer versions are produced.
I fail to clearly understand the purpose of LR.
After years of Adobe developing fragmented programs they decided to unify them within the Creative Suite. As newer versions of the CS have been developed, the way the individual programs interact has become more streamline. Unnecessary programs have been set aside and newer ones have been adapted to fit within the CS. Most recently the Macromedia product line, which first was loosely part of the CS family and now seems fully integrated with PS, Ai, ID and the others.
LR was purposely developed not to fit into the CS. Myself and others may not have fully understood the reasons for it but we accepted that LR promised to think outside the box - to bring a differnt way of thinking that was not subject to legacy workhabits. But with Jeff continually putting down the need for video and many other requested functions I doubt the legitimacy of the LR vision. To not allow photo & video to operate seamlessly together, even with limited functionality, completely lacks any foresight. Obviously video will be incorporated eventually, if for no other reason than we, the consumers, demand it. But to try and deny it is to deny the industry, the future.
My case in point is not RED or the Canon 5DM2, rather it is two of the programs within the newest iteration of Adobes own suite, CS4. The way InDesign files can be opened in Flash and manipulated there to allow for seamless publishing to the web. A few years ago most print publishers (and print software developers) may have balked at the suggestion that Quark or ID needed to "work well" with a web developer. But since all media (visual, motion, sound, database and web programming, animation, etc. see http://mediastorm.com/ for a taste of the future) are united it is hardly a stretch to ask Video and Still photography to live side by side - especially if they are created from the same device!
What's next, a phone that allows you to check your email, take photos & videos and surf the web?!
Why can't LR play nicely with everyone else? Maybe we need to start over.

  • How-to add video clip to presentation?

How do I add a video clip to a Keynote '08 presentation? i drag and drop it and only get a black square on the page. Even though it's only a small square, when I view it in full screen mode the whole screen is black.
How do I add a video clip?

Well, it worked for me. I, however, used the Media browser. I don't know if you just grab a file from Finder and drop it in there. Although it should work, but I don't know why it doesn't. Also, what kind of file is it. Keynote supports a lot of video files but not every kind that exist. For me, I dropped a video that I made with friends from iMovie so its a QuickTime file. And I use the Media browser. Then I placed it at the centre. Then I pressed optionP to play the slideshow.

  • How do you add video clips to an iPhoto slideshow?

I've made a slideshow for my daughter's graduation. I tried to include a couple of video clips in it, but when the slideshow gets to the first one the screen goes black and the video doesn't play. How do I do this the correct way? I use iPhoto '11

Do the video clips play in iPhoto at all?
What theme for the slideshow are you using?
Where are the video clips from?
Are you using any transitions between slides particularly the video clip?
Have you tried putting the video clip in a slideshow by itself and see if it will play?

  • Add video clips to organizer without keeping video on hardrive

I would like to catalog my Mini DV tapes in Organizer (PSE4) without keeping the video on my hardrive. I know if I capture the video, add it to the organizer them burn to CD or DVD It will show the thumbnails as "offline" but I do not want to burn to CD/DVD, I just want to display the thumbnails in the organizer for each of my digital camcorder tapes.
    Anyone know a way??

    Mike
I am kind of "wildcarding" here as I don't work a lot with video, but the only idea I can think of would be to make a screen capture of one scene and then save that file to your hard drive. Clicking on this would only bring up this image, not the video itself. Option B-create one standard photo and just rename it for each video, kind of like a program icon.
Organizer works with an underlying MS Access database. It makes a link to where your photos are stored and then records any tags, collections or creations you make. If you don't have some kind of image to link to, Organizer will not create any records in this database.
Perhaps a folder called Video Links or something under your main picture folder would help keep all these pseudo pictures together.

  • Add video clip to slideshow in LR3?

Can I add a video in .MOV format to a slideshow I create in Lightroom 3? If so, how do I do it?

Im pretty sure you'll need version 5 to achieve that.
Version 5 introduced ability to trim the timelines on videos. Adding to a slideshow is simply a matter of selecting like any other image in the slideshow panel.

  • Is it possible to change multicam angle property? Or add video to what is seen as a audio angle?

I'm getting footage from overseas and first I was sent just the audio files, so I assumed i could just put the audio files into a multicam clip angle and started keywording and favoriting the new clip, which i did.  Now I've received the video files.  as per normal, I added an angle from the triangle drop-down menu, and tried adding the video but it won't let me.  Using an "insert edit" I get a message "You are combining audio and video clips in an audio-only angle. You cannot add video clips to existing audio-only angles."
The issue seems to be that if the first angle you create only gets audio files added to it, and you then use that angle to add another angle from the triangle drop-down, it forces that new angle to be audio only, and it won't accept video. I've confirmed this with separate tests.
I could start the multicam clip from scratch and add a video clip first, but trying not to lose all the keywording work (which was a lot).  There doesn't seem to be any way to change angle properties or to add a new angle that isn't audio-only by default.
    any suggestions much appreciated

Just click on the little triangle in the Angle Editor and choose "Add Angle". Now drag your video clip into the new angle.
Synchronization, though, is another matter. All in all, you'll probably be better served by creating a new mulicam clip, by way of which you'll get everything properly synched.

  • Can I pin video clips to a soundtrack?

Hi. I am making a short video of a band recording music. Is there a way to pin video clips to parts of the sound track? For instance, if there is a short guitar solo, highlight and choose a few seconds of this and force it to play in a certain part of the track timeline? Then choose other sequences, place them into gaps and continue to build from there?
If not, is this type of work flow a feature of say Final Cut?
    Thanks in advance. G.

In general, iMovie is video centric. You add video and it will adjoin the previous video or go between 2 previously added clips. Then you add the audio clips.
There is an important exception to this. It is called the beat marker feature.
You can add a music track. Then go to the the clip trimmer for the music track and add Beat Markers. Then you can add video clips that will snap to these beat markers. You must add the video clips in order.
Here is a good Tutorial on the Beat Marker Feature.
There is another way to do it if you do not know exactly which video clip you will choose for a certain location.
Under the Maps tab in iMovie 11, you will see some Placeholders. You can add these, and then later come back and add the real clip onto them. The real clip will be the same length as the placeholder.

  • Need to capture video clip from local news story site.

Does anyone know of a way to capture video clip from an online source for adding to iMovie.
The clip I would like to get is a piece done locally and added to a local news site.
    Harold

Video on the web can be in many forms - most of which aren't easy to download.
What I do, is use SnapzProX from http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/
This lets you capture video (and audio) from your computer screen.
I have seen FLVR mentioned as a way to capture Flash video, but haven't tried it yet. ( http://www.tastyapps.com )
To get the best quality, you can probably buy a tape of the clip from the station at a 'reasonable' price.

  • Why is it, if i have one video clip in the timeline, i can't just add a transition at the end of that solo clip to fade to black!?! please help!

hey there, so im making a video for a family event..
i drag in an audio clip all of a sudden this becomes the be all and end all, and i want to sync some vid clips to that audio track, so let's say i drag in a 10 second video clip, at the end of the 10 seconds, i want to add a transition to fade to black.. i go to the transition window.. choose the cross dissolve or fade to colour, but it will not allow me to drag it on that video clip.. it always ends up on the audio track. this bloody application is so confusing compared to final cut. please help!

Ahhh, now I see the problem, Grasshopper.  Problem is, we are all Grasshoppers, here.
Yes, that little piece of info is critical. I'd say the biggest difficulty with FCPX is the whole new language.
If I read you correctly, your Audio is in the Main Storyline (Track 1 in plain old Editorese). This makes anything else you add (above or below) a "connected clip", which we can no longer think of as "Track 2" because Jobs sez so. So, yes, you cannot just add a transition to either end of a connected clip.
No argument with Tracy's solution, because I haven't seen any other general solution presented for any attempt to treat connected clips as the main storyline.  And, of course, when they were "track 1" and "track 2", you could.
An alternative solution, however, is to highlight the connected clip and press Ctrl-V to bring up the Video Animation Editor.  Click the "reveal button" for Compositing: Opacity (bottom, right).  Once open, there is a "fade handle" to the right top.  Drag it left for however much fade you wish.  (there is one on the left as well, but you were only talking about a fade-out.)
A second alternative, perhaps for future projects where everything keys on audio, may be to create a Gap clip (used to be called slug) in the primary storyline before ever dropping in the audio.  Then you can add video to the main story line and modify it without having to go thru hoops to do the simplest thing.

  • How do I add a title to a video clip w/ LiveType 2 and Final Cut Express 4

I have Final Cut Express 4 & LiveType 2.1.4, I'm not sure how to add titles or test to a video clip, and the tutorials for Final Cut Express 4 don't say how to get started in LiveType. How do I simply add text? The tutorials say how to add effects to the text they just don't say how to add it to the clip or how to get the clip into LiveType.

Well, you don't actually _add text_ to a video clip, you _create a text clip_ and add that clip to your timeline, either adjacent to an existing clip or on the next higher track if you want to layer the text with an existing video clip.
The very simplest way to add text is to use one of the *text generators* built into FCE. Lower Third, Text, Scrolling Text, etc. allow you to create various text clips and give you basic controls over fonts, positioning, size, color, etc. You can find the text generators in the Effects tab in the FCE Browser.
LiveType is a separate and more sophisticated application that enables you to do all sorts of things with text (much more than can be done with the FCE text generators). The basic process is - create your title in a LiveType project. Save the LiveType project. Then in FCE, import the LiveType project; from there, you can treat it just the same as any other clip.

  • In your opinion is it easier to add keywords to video clips in iPhoto move?

I just discovered keyword in iMovie and I'm loving it, but I noticed it is a recipe process, I'm used to adding keywords in iPhoto and it is so easy there with the shortcuts. Imovies keyword process doesn't seem as intuitive to me? I like to store my videos in iMovie library that way I can easily edit them and see them a ranged by date down the left side.if I stored them in iPhoto I believe iMovie can still see them but they just show up,as a bunch of clips in the iPhoto library section of IMovie,is that right. I'm pretty sure though that in iPhoto I can not add a keyword to only a part of a clip like I can in iMovie.what application do you guys use to add keywords to your video clips?

No, you cannot add keywords to parts of a movie, only the whole thing.
