Adding a blog to dw

Hello, I am new to blogging and hope someone can point me in the right direction.  I would like to add a blog to a website and a review section for products
that consumers are interested in. I heard that wordpress is good for the blog, but I don't want to create my site with wordpress, just the section for the blog, but iis that possible? can they be integrated? also, how do I go about having consumers be able to write and view reviews on products. I appreciate any advice.  Thanks.

I don't think you have a clear understanding of what a blog or Wordpress really is at this point so before this discussion goes any further I would recommend the following:
If you are on a Mac:
Install MAMP - http://www.mamp.info/en/index.html
Default Path for Server - /Applications/MAMP/htdocs
Create a folder in there called: "wordpress"
If you are on Windows:
Install WAMP - http://www.wampserver.com/en/
Default path for server - C:\wamp\www
Create a folder in there called: "wordpress"
Once you have that "wordpress" folder go to:
http://wordpress.org/
And download Wordpress
Then copy all files in that download and place them in your "wordpress" folder.  Then start MAMP/WAMP and go to the following address in your web browser:
http://localhost/wordpress
Follow the on-screen instructions to install Wordpress.  When you get to a part asking about database username and password just use the username "root" with no password.  This is not secure, but it's quicker than walking you through setting up another database account.
Then play around with Wordpress for a bit.  It will give you a better understanding of what you are walking into.

  • Adding a blog without Business Catalyst

I can't be the first to ask about this: Clients want blogs added to their site but do not want to opt for Business Catalyst hosting. What options are available that allow the creation of a blog that will integrate well with a non-BC site, and that will actually increase site rankings for the site. Many of the blog solutions won't help with the SEO of the site they're on because they're not actually hosted on the site itself, merely a feed from another separate site.
I have a new client who is a major player in the mortgage industry who wants a complete corporate makeover and new branding, and they must have a blog on their site. There's an excellent budget for the project, and I have accepted the job. I now have to make it work and figure out a solution. I'm hoping the geniuses at Muse and in the Muse community will be able to point me in the correct direction on this thorny problem.

  • Adding .mac blog to established non- .mac website

Hi, I just purchased a new mac. It has been twenty years since I used one. Overwhelmed with all I need to learn. I would like to know if it is possible to add a .mac blog to my website that exists already that was created by a web designer who used Front Page software.
I would like viewers of my site to connect ot the blog I am attempting to create on IWeb.
Also, is it possible to customize the background of the blog or am I limited to the choices it gives me?
I apologize for sounding like I don't know what is going on, but I really don't and any help is most appreciated. Thank you! like the wind

Hi Roddy, Thank you for your time and answer, it was helpful. I know this is probably beyond the scope of this discussion, but is there a standard way to 'linking' a blog to a site, or do I need to learn "Front Page," the software that created my original website?
    I appreciate your time!
    Thank you,

  • Page layout skewed after comment added to blog post

I am having an issue where my page layout is all out of whack after a reader posts a comment. The body text of the blog post drops down the page to cover over the top comment. Also noticed that the weblink that the reader has entered doesn't work - It's supposed to load their site when clicking on their name, but no link is active. Also having problem where the body text is OK, but the comment is cut off - the page doesn't automatically extend to allow the comment to fit at the bottom.
Very frustrating for me and my readers.
BTW, using iWeb09 and Mobile Me account. Annoying to pay this money and not have results.

Seems I can answer this one myself.
The problem occurs when the code from Google Analytics is not on the furthest back layer. Right click on html box containing the code and select 'Move to back'. Problem solved

  • Comments added to blog change page's appearance

    Hi,
I'm sorry if this is a repeat posting, but I couldn't find anything about it after a perfunctory search.
When people add comments to my blog, it upsets the vertical layout of the page (i.e. white space doesn't stretch as far as it should). Looking at the pages in iWeb, there doesn't seem to be a problem.
    This page for example:
    http://web.mac.com/mccormickdavid/iWeb/TrombonesInTechno/Blog/2E725615-0820-47EB -A9A7-9256043FABA9.html
the space behind 'bosh blog podcast photos' should be white up to the black bar (and appears so in iWeb). Same applies at the bottom of the page.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance,
    David
p.s. apologies for the mundane nature of the site.

I have seen this problem with the shifting background before. Your ultimate option is to eliminate the page background and let the browser background show through.
Another workaround might be to make a screenshot of a square of white space (your background), then use that square as your page background image...choose tiled in the dropdown menu of the inspector.

  • Adding a blog to our Muse website via Business Catalyst?

We want to add a blog to our company's website. Ideally, we'd add it at the subfolder level. Will we be able to do this on our Muse site that is hosted in Business Catalyst?

    Hi
Are you referring to integrating a third party Blog in Muse site and then publish to BC where the blogs should be stored in sub folder level ?
From BC end, you can create Blogs and use module in Muse page, on publishing to BC you can define Host Directory which would create the sub folder under root.
This video will give an idea as how sub folders are managed on BC end:

Is it possible to add a blog entry from another computer? Say all my iWeb sites are on my desktop computer and I want to add a blog entry from my laptop.

  • Help adding blogger blog to MUSE site

I want to add my blogger blog to MUSE, i pasted the RSS/HTML to the arbitrary HTML box, but it doesnt show up in any preview. Anyone have the same problem? Know a solution?

    Hey Courtney,
I've been looking for something simple like the atom.xml solution provided over PM but for the RSS, and there isn't one avaialble.
Because Muse does not have a "native" RSS feed widget, you'll have to use that at least for the moment (source) or you can look up an alternative solution like this one.
    Cheers,

  • Can I use an apple blog on my wix site?

Hi I am a Toronto Jewelry designer and would like to use apple blog on my site. How do I insert it?
    my site is www.candicekingstewart.com
    Thank You

No you can't use an iWeb blog directly in a wix created website.  Does Wix not have a blog feature?  As you create the site directly at Wix, I would have thought they would have a blog feature.  Wix is designed that you create and publish your site directly on their website and on their own servers, then using your own custom domain name if you wish to so there is no room for anything else.
If you want a blog, then the only thing that you can do is to publish the iWeb blog that you have created and then create an external link to that blog from your Wix site.  If you don't have the iWeb blog, then I would really advise you not to use iWeb.  It is not the best blogging system around.  You will always have to create an external link to your blog from Wix, so I would suggest that you create your blog by using either the free WordPress.com or the Google blogger.
You can't use an iWeb blog in the way that you want and if you created your site at Wix, they should have a way of adding a blog directly to the site - they are creating new things all the time, so wait and see.

  • Can an announcement link to a blog

Hello, can anybody answer this for me please?
I have a news announcement panel on the home page, I would like one of the announcements to link to a blog. I thought it would be  a case of editing the url and adding  the blog address BlogRetrieve.aspx?BlogID=7495. This doesn't work, I get this error caused by the ? and = I guess:
ERROR: URL is invalid or has more than 100 characters. The URL can only contain the following characters: a-z, 0-9,  "_" and "-".
At present the Announcement link goes to an intermediary page which isn't ideal.
Is there a way around this?
    Cheers
    Grant

    Hi Grant.
The default link and way announcements work goes to its detail view. You can not change this behavior.
If your using the content preview tag to show preview content you can not run html in this either. So only in the blog.
Proper sollution is to build a web app for announcements that can have more functionality and you can create links to other items and even layouts and well... Do a lot more.

  • How can I get the Email Campaigns Blog module to display correctly in Outlook?

I'm having a bit of trouble with this. I've used the email campaign builder to build a campaign; added the blog module to it and applied a custom template to it so that it should display correctly, but outlook has other ideas...
Here's what it should look like:
and here's what outlook gives me:
this is built within tables and the tables and cells all have set widths of 520px, yet the blog module seems to ignore this and somehow sit outside of them, breaking the template (BUT only in outlook).
Is this a problem anyone has experienced before?
Any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks
    Sam

HTML Email Campaign design is still a very tricky beast.  There are no standards like the makers of the major web browsers have been pushing for and adhering to over the years for web designers so since there are any number of email clients like your native mobile phone email clients, desktop clients like Outlook and Thunderbird and then web-based email clients like Gmail, Yahoo!, etc. there's no standard to display HTML in emails so each client does things differently.
Outlook and Gmail in the past have been the worst offenders. Fixing it is nothing simple.  You need to go into your markup and make sure every table has a width set both in the inline STYLE attribute as well as the WIDTH attribute on the TABLE element.
Outlook 2007 and 2010 are both horrendous at displaying HTML uniformly- as it relies on the Microsoft Word rendering engine.  Most of the time for my clients I tell them that if the end user can read and click links in Outlook then it's a win-- they're used to seeing horrible formatted emails no doubt.  But, if you find most of your email list is using Outlook (corporate/enterprise customers) then you should keep tweaking it.
It's impossible to tell from screenshots what the issue is-- it's likely a markup issue if there is one.

  • Creating a Blog Template with Current BC interface

I created a website using Muse. I upgraded to the web commerce so that I could have the added features, blog, ecommerce, etc.
Now I'd like to add a blog (I came from word press) and upload a custom template (with a simple header and footer). This website would be www.mywebsite.com/blog. Where can I find this information? All of the online documentation refers to an old bc interface (http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/753/bc_753.html#main_Customizing__Blog_Layouts?bc-partner). It took me two hours, I searched the deep ends of the Internet, You Tube, and through every menu in the current bc  interface until I realized this. The time I saved using Muse was wiped out looking for this information.
All I want to do is add a custom template and post a few blogs. Is there documentation that explains this step-by-step with the current interface? Any help would be appreciated.

Still the same way pretty much but you can view here:

    You got all this: http://forums.adobe.com/community/business_catalyst/documents
