Adding a countdown timer

I don't know why, but this seems massivly over complicated.
Basically I'm wanting to make the clock at the bottom right of this page count down in days hours and minutes to the next event - http://www.abcdev.co.uk/site/index.html
I want it to keep the same style that it has now, just for it to countdown.
I know it isn't really realted to Muse, but this community seems to know quite a bit so I thought I'd start here.
Thanks for your help in advance

Adrian,
You can find some cool FLASH Countdown Timers here: http://activeden.net/
Then simply set the date in the XML File, and place the .swf file into your MUSE doc with HTML.
Hope this helps!

  • Adding a countdown timer to a dialog.......

    I have a logout (killall loginwindow) script that I want to utilize, but don't want the killall to happen without warning to the user..... I want the user to have the chance to stop the action (say 2 minutes or so) by pressing cancel and if not then the script executes fully after the timer reaches zero, logging the user out no matter what is open.
    So, I need to know how to code a timer into my script. I'm new to applescript (semi new) so I a little slow. I also want to display the countdown.
    Thank you

    David,
    In Script Editor you can only do a static dialog box. You can have it wait the two minutes, or the box can timeout every n seconds, then a new dialog box can appear with the new time till shutdown repeating till the shutdown happens.
    If you want a dynamic box which counts down the seconds you will need to use XCode.
    Since you are using killall you could have the Terminal open and roll off the countdown.

  • AS3 - 1) Countdown Timer to the designated Date for Live-Broadcast-Event yet to take place; 2) Detect End of Live Stream on FLVPlayback with FLVPlayback.isLive = true - ActionScript 3 - flash cs3 cs4

    Hi folks,
    Ronny's here again on forums, having particularly 2 (two) questions/problems to resolve:
    1) Countdown Timer to the designated Date for Live-Broadcast-Event yet to take place
    2) Detect End of Live Stream on FLVPlayback with FLVPlayback.isLive = true
    attached is the .zip file (as3_Countdown Timer_ver 1.0.1_by Ronny Depp.zip) with all flash source files containing:
    a) The FLash Source (file: timer_module.fla) - (FLA flash source file - Flash CS3 Professional, Flash Player 9, actionscript 3.0)
    b) com.othenticmedia.utils.dateAndTimeManagement package including 2 .as actionscript 3.0 Class files.
           i) com.othenticmedia.utils.dateAndTimeManagement.DateAndTimeManager Class in the said package. (file: DateAndTimeManager.as)
           ii) com.othenticmedia.utils.dateAndTimeManagement.CountdownTimer Class in the package. (file: CountdownTimer.as)
    c) The compiled SWF file version of this Application's blueprint. (file: timer_module.swf).
    What i need to confirm is: ........................................................ see the next post of mine. (for Problems  need to be Resolved)

    Problems to Resolve:
    Problem#1) - Countdown Timer to the designated Date for Live-Broadcast-Event yet to take place.
    Problem#2) - Detect End of Live Stream on FLVPlayback with FLVPlayback.isLive = true;
    Problem#1 Description:
    I need to pinpoint the Logical TimeSync Exception, i am still unable to figure out. That is I'm using a webservice in my Application to Synchronize the Time with the actual ET (eastern time) with accomodation of auto-adjustment for EDT GMT-4 (eastern daylight time) & EST GMT-5 (eastern standard time), times. I am using the zipcode: "10012" to pass it to the Web Service in urlRequest object, to retrieve the Current ET eastern time according to EDT & EST time settings for Manhattan/Brooklyn areas or others within  New York, NY 10012.
    Currently the Web Service is returning accurate date/time based on local EDT GMT-4 daylight time.
    Is there some defined set of dates for EDT & EST times for New York region that I can check for to ensure the correct Dates/Times for Eastern Time in New York area ??? I am using NY zipcodes because i am sure to get correct ET values.
    The Major Problem Part: is I need to correct the time by 2 seconds or approx. 2 secs, some millisecs.
    When I retrieve the Time Value from WebService, it lags behind for 2 seconds as compared to DateObj i create using computer's local time, on my Windows XP Service Pack 2 with Automatic Updates turned-on. And I'm sure about my Windows will be having latest updates for Time Management already installed. I also added the 2 secs. to the TimeSync(ed) Date to make correction to this Date obj.
    I call my custom fucntion addSeconds(dateObj:Date, secs:int) to add 2 seconds to the Date by Converting Seconds to Milliseconds.
    Please comb through the as code in files attached and Help Me Out !!!

    Secondly I need to Detect the End of Stream state while using FLVPlayback component, an rtmp:// live Stream from FLASH MEDIA SERVER.
    I need to Play a YuMe Post-Roll Ad when Steam Finishes/Ends.
    Live Broadcast Stream Event starts every night on Wednesdays & Saturdays exactly  at 10:59 PM EDT GMT-4.
    Live Events only Streams/Broadcasts the stream for 50secs. exactly. When [playback stopped] it plays a PostRoll Ad and after the CountdownTimer again comes back to life. The Next upcoming Event is calculated & the Countdown begins until Next Event's time/date is reached.
    Here is the  code on the frame 1 on the MainTimeline: (rest of the params like source, volume, skinAutoHide are Set using Property Inspector for FLVPlayback instance on Stage)
    //myStream instance of FLVPlayback is on the Stage

  • Visual Countdown Timer

    I'm working on my first J2ME project, and I'm trying to figure out how best to create a visual countdown timer. In this application, the user is given a little 'mission' that must be solved. Some missions are timed, and the device must be able to display how much time is left in the mission.
    I need the timer to stay on the screen (preferrably the top) even though the user may be scrolling through text to be read, or even making selections (List, Choice, or Textfields). Basically, think of the Ticker (from the bundled Stocks demo), but instead of scrolling static text continuously, I want it to display a timer, countling down from some time (e.g. 10 minutes) and updating (9:59, 9:58, ..., 0:03, 0:02, 0:01) fairly frequently (if not every second).
    Is the source to the Ticker 'widget' available someplace?
    Also, does anyone have any suggestions how to best do this keeping resource usage as low as possible???
    Thanks in advance,
    Christian ([email protected])

    hmm, always visible...
    you could try removing/adding a Command once a second, with its label as the time ;]
    pretty ugly way of doing it, but the only way if your dealing with Form's.

  • How can multiple check boxes be added at one time to a form?

    How can multiple check boxes be added at one time to a form?

    Thanks for your response, but copying and pasting creates a link. If the user places a check mark in one of the boxes, all the rest of the boxes will have a check mark also. I will research this some more.

  • Adding a second time capsule?

    I've reviewed some of he discussion on adding a second Time Machine but two issues arise.  The information relates to older Time Machine software and leads to confusion.
    I have an Airport Extreme with S/W version 7.6.4 and would like to add a newer Airport Extreme to back up the older one.  Reading the suggestions on adding a new TC didn't cover the newer Time Machines and I could find Apple's instructions for doing it.
    Somewhere I read that the new TC could be connected to the old TC but forgot the port setup.  Also, newer instructions for adding a second TC so both the old and the new acquire the same data could not be found.
    Hope This question is clear.  Is there help on this?

    The network setup is fairly trivial.
    Plug TC2 into TC1. (the hardware is Time Capsule.. TC as per your title.. or is it Airport Extreme as per your question..?? Time Machine is software on your computer.. and totally unrelated to the hardware.)
    Makes no difference which way around you do it. Plug WAN of the 2nd device into LAN of the 1st device. And setup the 2nd device in bridge.. wireless is up to you.. off or on?? Roaming or not??
    As far as backup is concerned.. you need to be clear in the question. And sorry it is a bit mixed up now.
    But I can tell you what you cannot do.
    You cannot backup to both units at once. You can however setup Time Machine in the computer to backup sequentially to both.
    See Q34 http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html
    The TC itself cannot backup to another TC.
    (extreme with hard disk amounts to the same thing.. with caveats)
    You can backup one TC to another manually via a computer.. it is slow and I do not recommend it.. if a fault creeps into backup1, you are simply copying said fault to backup2.. AND it is poor for another reason.. Time Machine cannot do it.. you will need another utility eg Carbon Copy Cloner.. and even then you will probably end up backing up a huge amount of data every time.. since TM works so strangely you cannot just backup differences.

  • Best way to implement a countdown timer for a turn based LCCS game

    Hello,
    I am trying to build a turn based game and sketching out the high level map, so I can focus my efforts towards the direction I should be digging.
    One thing I have not seen much in the sample apps is how a turn based game is best handled.
    For example, a countdown timer. Should it be a shared property? Or a Baton which is supposed to manage workflows and has a timeout property?
    Or, should I forget those two, and time this on the server, although if it would become popular keeping track of all the times in the rooms would cost an arm and leg. Would love to hear some best practices on this.

    good idea.
    Which one or all of them?

  • How can I make a countdown timer using After Effects

    I'd like to make a video that has a timer that counts down one second at a time. I need one starting at 5:00 (five minutes). Is there a way to easily do this in After Effects without having to manually change the text every second?
    Thanks.

    I'm glad that you found a solution, but I thought that you might appreciate a suggestion of another approach.
    Colin Braley provides a tutorial and example project on
    his website that show how to use an expression on the Source Text property to animate text to overcome some of the limitations of the Numbers effect.
    There's a similar example in the
    "Example: Animate text as a timecode display" section of After Effects Help.

  • Countdown Timer Error Msg: "Warning: 1090: Migration issue"

    Hey folks,
    New to Flash here (using CS3), trying to create a countdown
    timer.
    Following is the error message I receive when trying to test
    the
    movie:
    "Warning: 1090: Migration issue: The onEnterFrame is not
    triggered
    automatically by Flash Player at run time in ActionScript
    3.0. You
    must first register this handler for the event using
    addEventListener
    ( 'enterFrame', callback_handler).
    Does anyone know what this means? And please "dumb it down"
    for this newbie. :)
    Following is the actionscript I'm using:
    this.onEnterFrame = function() {
    var today:Date = new Date();
    var currentYear = today.getFullYear();
    var currentTime = today.getTime();
    var targetDate:Date = new Date(2007,5,10);
    var targetTime = targetDate.getTime();
    var timeLeft = targetTime - currentTime;
    var sec = Math.floor(timeLeft/1000);
    var min = Math.floor(sec/60);
    var hrs = Math.floor(min/60);
    var days = Math.floor(hrs/24);
    sec = String(sec % 60);
    if (sec.length < 2) {
    sec = "0" + sec;
    min = String(min % 60);
    if (min.length < 2) {
    min = "0" + min;
    hrs = String(hrs % 24);
    if (hrs.length < 2) {
    hrs = "0" + hrs;
    days = String(days);
    var counter:String = days + ":" + hrs + ":" + min + ":" +
    sec;
    time_txt.text = counter;
    Thanks in advance!!!

    It just means that you can't do things the "old" way. You
    have to use the
    AS3 event model, like so:
    this.addEventListener("enterFrame", enterFrameHandler);
    function enterFrameHandler(evt:Event) {
    var today:Date = new Date();
    var currentYear = today.getFullYear();
    var currentTime = today.getTime();
    var targetDate:Date = new Date(2007,5,10);
    var targetTime = targetDate.getTime();
    var timeLeft = targetTime - currentTime;
    var sec = Math.floor(timeLeft/1000);
    var min = Math.floor(sec/60);
    var hrs = Math.floor(min/60);
    var days = Math.floor(hrs/24);
    sec = String(sec % 60);
    if (sec.length < 2) {
    sec = "0" + sec;
    min = String(min % 60);
    if (min.length < 2) {
    min = "0" + min;
    hrs = String(hrs % 24);
    if (hrs.length < 2) {
    hrs = "0" + hrs;
    days = String(days);
    var counter:String = days + ":" + hrs + ":" + min + ":" +
    sec;
    time_txt.text = counter;

  • Javascript countdown timer not working in Safari

    Years ago I copied a Javascript for a countdown timer and it has been working on my website ever since in both Safari and Firefox. I have been working on updating my site and suddenly it stopped working in Safari, but still works in Firefox. Obviously, I'd like it to work in everyone's browser if possible. I've created a page which only has the countdown timer on it. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get it to work in Safari?
    The test page where you can see this is: http://hyperflite.com/countdowntest.html
    TIA

    Hi,
    Is there any reason for the numerous body tags in there?
    <pre><body onload="doCountdown();">
    <body>
    <body ... >
    </pre>
    I don't have Safari here to test with, but I wouldn't have thought they were helping matters

  • 5 minute countdown timer with 3d extrusion  for AE CC  5:00

    dear  AE  Family,
    Total Newbie here  looking to make a 3d countdown timer in  after effects  CC.  I know how to use the effect  to make the standard timer.  But I want to make the
    3d extrusion  5:00 which looks much better.  My CC came with  cinema 4d  lite but cant seem to put them together.
    PS  I really need it to look like  5:00  4:59,   to 0:00 . 3d extrusion.
    Thanks in advance, much appreciated.

    Have you gone though Getting Started with After Effects?
    Have you seen the Basic Workflow series?
    Be aware that if you want extruded text with Ray-traced rendering you are going to be in for long render times even with a compatible Cuda card installed and extremely long render times without one.
    The easiest way to make a countdown timer that will work with extruded text is to Google Countdown Timer After Effects and then look for expressions. You will find this popular universal timer expression from Dan Ebberts: Dan Ebberts's Expressioneering Design Guide
    Get that far and get back to us with your problems.
    BTW, there are other ways to mimic 3D extrusions and simple layer effects like Bevel and Emboss or the effect Bevel Alpha that may meet your design idea.

  • How can I create an animated countdown timer?

    Is there a way to create an animated countdown timer in Adobe Fireworks (animated gif)?
    Thank you

    In the Edit workspace, place the images you want to appear in each frame of the animation on separate layers of the Layers panel. For example, to create an animation of an eye blinking, you would place an image of the open eye on one layer, and an image of the closed eye on another layer.
    Choose File > Save for Web.Note: If your image has multiple layers, you can also open the Save For Web dialog box from the Save As dialog box by choosing CompuServe GIF Format and selecting Layers As Frames.
    Optimize the image in GIF format.
    Select Animate.
    Set additional options in the Animation section of the dialog box:
    Loop Continuously repeats the animation in a web browser.
    Frame Delay Specifies the number of seconds that each frame is displayed in a web browser. Use a decimal value to specify fractions of a second. For example, use .5 to specify half a second.
