Adding a Layout to a Page NOT as DL (via API)

Hi everybody,
I have added layouts to a page, but at my customer, there are page where layouts are added not as delta links, but as copies (DL state = -1). At these pages, I'm trying to do the same with new layouts to add:
layoutToAdd = (INewObjectDescriptor) iViewSrv.instantiateDescriptor
    (CreateMethod.NEW, newLayoutPath, user);
page.addLayout(layoutToAdd, newLytID);
This leads to a strange result: The object added is interpreted by the PCD as -- iView! Not as a layout! The same operation works like a charm if I use CreateMethod.DELTA_LINK.
I would consider this being a bug, and maybe will open an OSS message about it, anyhow, we need a solution quite fast, so maybe there is someone outside knowing an ad hoc workaround...?!
Thanks in advance
Detlev

Hi Praveen,
Hm, I should have checked this by my own...
Anyhow, I have been aware of this strange combination, but (a) as it is documented the way I used it and (b) as it did work for delta links, I forgot that...
I will open an OSS message to get the documentation http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a6/ce9d4207e1c86ae10000000a155106/frameset.htm corrected.
Thanks!!!
Best regards

  • Which one is the Right Approach - Re Using Page Layouts or adding Web parts directly to pages instead of page layouts in SP 2013 online site ?

    Hi Team,
    I am SharePoint 2013 developer. Before asking question I would like to explain the requirement in clarity.
    We are developing one O365 SharePoint online site which is having 10 different page layouts with different and some common webparts and we are reusing these page layouts by deploying a sandboxed solution which is having page layouts. These page layouts contain
    filter and query to display data using some condition and predefined values. By using these layouts we have to create 100+ pages. All pages will show data according to that page name and category (if it belongs any). We have not written any code to develop
    the site, everything is OOB feature.
    We have used below feature/list/lib of SP Online 2013:
    - Document Library
    - Survey
    - Calendar
    - Lists
    - Discussion forum library
    - OOB Search feature
    Now, I would like to know whether this is the right approach to reuse the page layouts. Or can we add webparts directly where the logic resides in the webparts and add them to the pages instead of page layouts?
    Also how to deploy page layouts/pages from one server to another? Currently we are deploying everything as a feature using sandbox solution.
    Could you please let me know the right approach to follow. I am asking this question because we are facing below issues:
    - Sometime page layouts gets corrupted, showing nothing.
    - All written filters/logic disappear when we open layouts in Designer
    - Deployment is pain using Sandbox solution
    Waiting for your reply.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Shifa Mittal

    Interesting question, to which i do not know a definitive answer.
    Output Caching is used to increase performance and to reduce load on the box. However since you're in the MS Cloud you don't need to worry about the latter and MS do the worrying about the former. I wouldn't be surprised if MS have updated the behaviour
    for O365 and not updated the documentation. That first office.com article is using 2010 screenshots which doesn't fill me with confidence about it's continuing relevance. Don't forget that SharePoint 2013 and O365 are technically different versions and have
    very different behaviour in places.
    Generally i'd say not to worry, but in this case if you do find any more information i'd love to see it.

  • I'm trying to order album and I'm getting this message:Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can proceed with this book.

    I'm trying to order an album and I'm getting this message:
    Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can proceed with this book.
    As far as I can see I have placed pictures on all the pages. I admit that on some pages I could have placed 3 or 4 pictures but I chose to use ony one or two. Could that be the problem?

    Yes -
    Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can proceed with this book.
    The error seems pretty clear - you must have a photo in evey photo frame in order to place your order - so you must either change the layout (if you only want one photo on a page then use a layout with one photo) or put photos in the spots you have not filled

  • Unable to see layout design in page editor

    I am using JDeveloper version 11.1.2.0.0.
    I downloaded the hands-on practices from the site Tuhra2 – Sample application for the Oracle JDeveloper 11g Handbook.
    When I open the jspx files under Web Content, the visual design does not show up in the Design tab, instead I can only see the tags in text form.
    What can I do to see the visual layout of the page?

    I'm having same strange behavior.
    Before my JDeveloper 11g R2 Design Page work OK. Than I checkout application from SVN to another folder in FS (my JDev was closed meanwhile). I opened JDev and closed "old" app and open "new" (from that different folder) app and my Visual Design Page Editor does not work well (it is rendering well unusual with some kind of structure view).
    I have checkouted my app on another computer which has JDev installed in designer works ok. So obviously this is not app-based issue but JDev-vbased issue. What now?
    And if I enable Tools -> Preferences -> JSP and HTML Visual Editor -> Show Design Time Messages in Log I'm getting:
    WARNING: [ADFbc, ADFc, ADFm, ADF_FACES, TRINIDAD] features were found in ViewController.jpr but are not installed. Install these technologies before you proceed.Edited by: zmeda on Sep 1, 2011 11:55 AM Added WARNING

  • Adding More than 30 Blank Pages in Editor

    I have never had any trouble adding more than 30 blank pages in Photoshop Editor.  Usually on page 29 or 30 instead of clicking add a blank page I'll click the option underneath it to add a blank page using that layout and it'll let me make blank page ad intinitum.  Is there something I have to click or do?  Jeannie

    I don't think in Photoshop 8 PSE that you can create more
    than 30 pages at a time.  However in Photoshop 7 PSE you
    can create page 31 if at page 30 you click create another blank
    page using this format.  But it does not work in Photoshop 8 unless
    there is some answer other than this one.

    If you have not changed any code it is impossible that a classcast exception can be thrown since we evaluate for duplicate ids. Chances are there if you had given an id of a bean which is added programmatically in the controller then you might end up with this error. Delete the personalization and create the button with a unique name.

  • Custom HTML Master Page not updating when activating Feature via PowerShell

    I created a WSP to deploy a HTML Master Page.  I later have code that will publish this Master Page to create a .master, but I stripped this out just to simplify things.  My issue is with the first step - getting the HTML Master Page file to
    update by activating the feature using PowerShell.  I don't understand why it's not working - I'm not even using this Master Page currently.  Plus, oddly the master page does update if I go into the UI and deactivate/activate my feature.
    I can easily reproduce this problem using the following steps:
    1. Created a SharePoint Empty Project named SharePointProject1
    2. Added a Module named Module1
    3. Added a HTML Master Page called MyMaster.html and updated the elements.xml file for the Module1 with the following:
     <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
      <Module Name="Module1" Url="_catalogs/masterPage/Test">
        <File Path="Module1\MyMaster.html" Url="MyMaster.html" ReplaceContent="TRUE" Level="Published" Type="GhostableInLibrary">
          <Property Name="Title" Value="My Master Page" />
          <Property Name="MasterPageDescription" Value="My Master Page" />
          <Property Name="UIVersion" Value=";#15;#" />
          <Property Name="HtmlDesignAssociated" Value="TRUE" />
          <Property Name="ContentType" Value="Html Master Page" />
        </File>
      </Module>
    </Elements>
    4. Deployed the WSP and activated the Feature containing Module1
    5. Updated the HTML Master Page
    6. Re-deployed the WSP
    7. Deactivated the feature and Reactivated the feature using PowerShell
         => _catalogs/masterpage/test folder still has OLD file - Why??
        $deployFeatureId = "575ec423-1b20-404c-8b2c-d160426c53e7"
        Disable-SPFeature -Identity $deployFeatureId -Url
    http://sp2013local -confirm:$false
        Enable-SPFeature -Identity $deployFeatureId -Url
    http://sp2013local
    8. Deactivated the feature and Reactivated the feature through UI
         => _catalogs/masterpage/test folder now has the correct file
    I even added event receiver code to delete the HTML file on deactivation but that still didn't work.

    Hi Sagar,
    The second link isn't applicable for me because I'm not setting the Master Page for the site collection just yet.  I'm just trying to get the version to be correct in the master page library first.
    For the first link, I am trying to publish a Master Page, not a Page Layout.  I did try adding some similar code that I found from this article,
    http://www.eliostruyf.com/provision-your-html-designs-master-pages-page-layouts-to-sharepoint-2013/
    but the same result.  PowerShell is still copying an old version of the file to the Master Page Gallery, but the activating/deactivating the feature in the UI works fine.
    Here is my code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
      <Module Name="Module1" Url="_catalogs/masterPage/Test">
        <File Path="Module1\MyMaster.html" Url="MyMaster.html" ReplaceContent="TRUE" Level="Draft" Type="GhostableInLibrary">
        </File>
      </Module>
    </Elements>
        public class Feature1EventReceiver : SPFeatureReceiver
            public override void FeatureActivated(SPFeatureReceiverProperties properties)
                SPSite site = (SPSite)properties.Feature.Parent;
                PublishMasterPage(site, "/_catalogs/masterpage/Test/MyMaster.html");
            public void PublishMasterPage(SPSite site, string filePath)
                SPFile file = site.RootWeb.GetFile(filePath);
                if (file.CheckOutType != SPFile.SPCheckOutType.None)
                    file.Item.Update();
                else
                    file.CheckOut();
                    file.Item.Update();
                file.CheckIn("Checked in by the branding deploy feature", SPCheckinType.MajorCheckIn);
                if (file.DocumentLibrary.EnableModeration)
                    file.Approve("Approved by the branding deploy feature");

  • Adding Custom Layout Manager

    I'm trying to add my own LayoutManager to JDeveloper following the instructions at http://otn.oracle.com/jdeveloper/help/
    This might help identify the exact page:
    javascript:top.footer.viewTopic('jar%253Afile%253A/u01/webapps/OHW/ohw-app/jdeveloper/helpsets/jdeveloper/developing_gui_clients.jar%2521/ui_paddcustom.html');
    Snip
    JDeveloper supports the integration of other layout managers with its UI Editor. To get a custom layout manager to appear in the Inspector's layout property list, make sure that the layout manager is on the IDEClasspath as defined in JDeveloper\bin\jdeveloper.ini, and add the following line to JDeveloper\bin\addins.properties:
    jdeveloper.uiassistant.<full class name>=oracle.jdeveloper.uidesigner.BasicLayoutAssistant
    End snip
    I don't have jdeveloper.ini anywhere in my hierarchy. At present, I'm setting JDEV_CLASSPATH before starting jdev.exe. Is their a method for providing my own libraries to JDeveloper?
    I have addins.properties, but it is in JDeveloper\jdev\bin and this is the one I'm editing.
    Adding the line above gives the following console message when the UI is started:
    Assistant for com.wb.wfc.FormLayout could not be found: oracle.jdeveloper.uidesigner.BasicLayoutAssistant
    Adding jdeveloper.uiassistant.com.wb.wfc.FormLayout=oracle.jdevimpl.uieditor.assistant.BasicLayoutAssistant (cribbed from other assistants in the addins.properties file) shows my manager in the PropertyInspector, but won't allow it to be selected.
    My manager takes a simple String as it's Constraint. Must I do something else?
    Tony.

    Hello,
    we would like to provide a Layout Manager Support for a custom layout manager in JDev 9.0.3. A short description of how this can be done is provided in den jdev online docs "Developing Java GUI Clients / Working with Layout Manager / Adding Custom Layout Manager". There the javadocs for the oracle.jdevimpl.uieditor package is referenced. We found the classes needed in jdev.jar, but the jdev-doc.jar does not include the javadocs for this package. Can anyone help us with this?
    Regards
    Stefan Unfortunately the uieditor package has not been included in the javadoc distribution. I do not know of a way for you to
    generate the javadoc yourself without the source files. I have logged a bug to have the javadoc included in future releases.

  • I want name on address bar goes to home page, not search engine

    Just today I hooked up a new modem/router that I purchased at a WIndstream store. I have been browsing the internet for years with Firefox. I have changed the keyword.url setting in my Firefox configuration (see https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/833252#answer-197476) so that the new version would act like the old version and go directly to the webpage when the name was typed in the address bar. For example: when I type in "windstream" (no ".net" or".com") I would go directly to windstream' home page.
    However, when I hooked up my new modem/router I my browser is hijacked and goes to a Windstream search page. I have tried everything from re-installing Firefox, re-changing the "keyword.url" setting, I even tried the Firefox ad-on here (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/browse-by-name/).
    All to no avail......there is something that has changed by adding Windstream's hardware and connecting to their network that will not allow me to use this function of Firefox.
    Nothing else changed, but a new piece of hardware.....
    Changed keyword.url to : http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=
    Re-installed Firefox after cleaning all history and cookies.
    Tried the add-on "Browse by name"
    Wasted my time calling Windstream tech support.
    Changed to openDNS
    Tried to disable the feature through Windstream's web page, but then it just happens with the new search engine.

    Opt-out of Windstream's search service: Type in something to get their sneaky web search page to come up, then click the tiny link at the bottom right "about this page". That sends you to a page where you can opt-out of their service.
    To opt-out from their "valuable" sneaky service, you have to choose to opt-in to another search service.
    You have to do this with each browser. And it still sends you to your search engine's results page, not to your URL the way you might want it to.
    I would rather the default be to allow me to opt-in if I choose to, not have to jump through hoops to find out how to opt-out. It's taken me weeks to discover this. Annoying!

    Hi Scientila Choudary,
           Your problem will be cleared once you remove start_form and end_form as these are not necessary.we have to use start_from and end_from when we are operating on different forms.Presently we are operating on only no need to use this.
           Once your problem is solved please close this.

  • How can I print only one or two pages, not the whole article?

    I just want to print one page not the whole article.  There is no provision for what pages to print.

    I don't know where they are in Word but the print dialog is standard throughout OSX and this seems logical enough.
    The only problem is the Paper Handling is hidden under Layout. But sort of makes sense.

  • Customise an ASPX in the layouts directory that is not visible in SharePoint Designer

    Hi
    I want to be able to deploy a customised ASPX page in a Visual Studio WSP solution to my site. There is a file named CopySharedPage.aspx which is used for the dialog that pops up when you edit a page that has multiple friendly URLs. Our users get confused
    by this and several of them have clicked the option to 'Edit page for single URL (my page url)' which does  this "Create a copy of the page for the URL you were just on to edit it
    independent of other URLs." We don't want them doing that. In our site we often have multiple URLs for marketing reasons, but only want to maintain the one physical page of content. I can edit the CopySharedPage.aspx file in
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS directly on the server and comment out or delete the section that creates the link to Edit page for single URL (which consequently creates a copy of the page).
    But I would prefer to do this as part of my VS solution to make deployment easier. In my solution I have branding files such as master page, layouts and search assets such as a custom refiner and modified Item_Default.html. All of those items can be found
    in SharePoint Designer and they can also be replaced by having a module in VS with those files and with entries to place them using elements.xml in the module.
    I tried to do the same with the CopySharedPage.aspx but it doesn't overwrite the one on the server. This is my elements.xml for the module:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
    <Module Name="LayoutCustomisations" Url="_catalogs/layouts">
    <!-- This page is the edit dialog when a page has multiple friendly URLs associated with it - we are hiding the option to create a cpy for editing that single URL -->
    <File Path="LayoutCustomisations\CopySharedPage.aspx" Url="CopySharedPage.aspx" ReplaceContent="True">
    </File>
    </Module>
    </Elements>
    I end up getting a CopySharedPage.aspx created at
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\MyWebsite_Site\LayoutCustomisations\CopySharedPage.aspx but it isn't used. The original one is still there in the 15\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS directory and being used.
    Is there something I am doing wrong or do I have to do this a completely different way? Maybe it's not a supported customisation?

    There's two ways you can deploy your aspx (layout) files. One is deploy in _Layouts folder (which basically copy the file in (c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web server extensions\15\template\layouts). To copy file in that place, you don't
    need module, just use SharePoint mapped folder.
    Another way is to upload the layout folder in SharePoint library. But _catalogs is not the right place to upload your file (_catalogs doesn't have any subfolder named 'layouts'). You can upload your file in 'Pages' library or 'site pages' library in the
    current web.
    I'm not quite sure though (sorry I didn't get what the problem is but just guessed you are trying to get your aspx page in SharePoint designer, not sure why) why you need to upload the file in pages/site pages library instead of '_layouts' folder.

  • Layout Par file name not appearing in list while creating new Layout

    Hi
    I downloaded com.sap.portal.layouts to modify the light_framework page to suit my needs, renamed it to com.mycomp.portal.layouts, modified the page, created a par file and uploaded it thru NWDS.
    When I go to the portal to create a new Layout, I do not see my custom par file in the list.
    I have even uploaded it from the portal: System Administration -> Support -> Support Desk -> Portal Runtime -> Administration Console -> Archive Uploader. Even after it was successful, I was not able to see the par file listed while creating a new Layout.
    How do I get my Layout par file listed do i can create my Layout?
    Thanks
    J

    Hi Bala
    I never had a problem with the JAR files in this par file while opening, nor did I have to manually add anything.
    I know it has been successfully uploaded in the portal, as I can see my par file in the Archive Deployment Checker.
    What could be wrong? Is there something else I have to put in the portalapp.xml to make it visible in the list?
    Thanks
    J
