Adding a panel above table headers

I would like to add a panel with controls on it to a JTableHeader, so that it is a part of the table. The panel and its controls serve as a filter for the table. Adding it to the table would make vertical and horizontal scrollbars more natural, as the scroll bars would be added also if the panel is too long, and not only if the table and its headers are too long.
Thank you for your help.
Michal

a) Create your table.
b) Create a panel for your "header component".
c) Add your control component and the table header to this panel (the JTable API shows you how to get the TableHeader)
d) Create another panel.
e) add your header panel and the table to this panel
f) add this panel to the scrollpane.

  • ADF query panel with table, adding new search fields dynamically

    I am a beginner very new to ADF world. I have a ADF query panel with table which has its source from a ViewCriteria. I need to add a new search field on the form dynamically based on the user's need. Assume I am using a Employee table and I have search "employee ID" as one field in the form, upon clicking a add button in the form I need to have a another "employee ID" field appears along with the already existing one.
    I tried to add the condition in ViewCriteria but do not know how to add it ?
    Could some one pls address how it can be approached ?

    User, please always tell us your jdev version.
    Well, this use case need some thinking to be done. What do you want to archive with adding a new query field to the panel? As you said you already have one field for employeeId and now, on a click on a button, you add another one. How would the resulting query work with the new field? Should it use 'and' to concatenate the query or should it use 'or'?
    I suggest that you use the ADF Riche Client Demo (http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/index.jspx) select the Query node and then select 'af:query'. This shows you what is possible otu of hte box using the af:query component. You can add fields to existing queries in advanced mode (e.g. use system query 5, which starts with an empty panel and allows you to add fields).
    Once you understand how this works you may come back with a more detailed use case description or you have found the solution already. Read the documentation on af:query along with trying otu the component.

  • Failing to refresh LOV fields added in the query panel with table

    Hi.. Iam using Jdev 11.1.1.2.0
    I have a scenario like ..i need to add 2 cascaded lovs in search panel and clicking on search button, the result should be displayed in table form.
    For example..
    I have cascaded LOV fields departmentId and Firstname ,
    first name dropdown values depends on the selection of value in DepartmentIddropdown. I need to add only these 2 fields in search panel and clciking on search buton , the result should be displayed in emp table.
    I have achieved the same creating View criteria with 2 fields and dragging and dropping that as query panel with table. But my problem is First name lov is not populating based on department id. It is showing static dropdown list.
    Please help me how to achieve this ? thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Alekhya.

    Thanks for the reply.. actually if iam using those cascaded lovs in a form then we can set properties as u mentioned to refresh and display values correctly in the dropdown.
    My scenario is like i need to use those fields in query panel header
    code snippet
    <af:panelHeader text="Employees" id="ph1">
    <af:query id="qryId1" headerText="Search" disclosed="true"
    value="#{bindings.EmployeesViewCriteria1Query1.queryDescriptor}"
    model="#{bindings.EmployeesViewCriteria1Query1.queryModel}"
    queryListener="#{bindings.EmployeesViewCriteria1Query1.processQuery}"
    queryOperationListener="#{bindings.EmployeesViewCriteria1Query1.processQueryOperation}"
    resultComponentId="::resId1"/>
    </af:panelHeader>
    Iam not having any field names to add properties.

  • How to get table headers in jsp page

    hi,
    this is praveen, can any one help me to solve this problem.
    how to get table headers in a jsp page. whether it is possible using javascript or is there any other way.
    pls send rep.
    thank u.

    Hai ,
    I Think  This will help ful for u check it ,
    File=new FileLog("f:/WebServiceTrace/trace2.%g.log", 800000, 10,                                        new  TraceFormatter());
    The above code specifies the path for your log file.
    Then add this file as a log location and then log the traces. For this you can use the following code like:
    Location location=Location.getLocation(className);
              location.addLog(file);
              location.setEffectiveSeverity(Severity.ALL);
              location.entering(methodName);
    To Create j2ee apllication
    In path new-j2ee-jsp to create JSP's can only be used for J2EE applications.
    So as you are using this in Portal Application, this does not work.
    You can test this bahavior by creating a new Web Application (New-Project-J2EE-Web Module Project)
    In this Web Module Project, try creating JSP, this will work.
    So dont use new-j2ee-jsp to create JSP in Portal Application instead use New-File and name the file as jsp.

  • Query to get the last added record in a table for a particular id

    T
    Hi,
    I have 2 tables A, B
    Table A has id,name
    Table B had parentid(foreignkey referring to ID in above table), record_type,created_timestamp
    I want to get the last added record_type from Table B for all the ids present in Table A.

    Please post DDL, so that people do not have to guess what the keys, constraints, Declarative Referential Integrity, data types, etc. in your schema are. Learn how to follow ISO-11179 data element naming conventions and formatting rules. I know this is
    a skeleton, but could you at least try to do good programming? Temporal data should use ISO-8601 formats. Code should be in Standard SQL as much as possible and not local dialect.
    This is minimal polite behavior on SQL forums. And sample data also helps.
    I have 2 tables: Alphas, Betas
    CREATE TABLE Alphas
    (alpha_id CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
     alpha_name VARCHAR(25) NOT NULL);
    Why was that DDL so hard you could not write it? But your narrative about the second table does not tell us if it has a key. I will guess that it is also alpha_id, but thanks to your rudeness, that is all we can do.
    CREATE TABLE Beta
    (alpha_id CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY
       REFERENCES Alphas (alpha_id),
     record_type CHAR(2) NOT NULL,
     creation_timestamp DATETIME2(0) DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP
          NOT NULL,
    >> I want to get the last added record_type from Table Beta for all the ids present in Table A.<<
    Think about this. Since Beta.alpha_id is a FOREIGN KEY to Alphas, all of its rows will have a match to Alpha. The SQL engine does this for you!
    SELECT *
    FROM (SELECT alpha_id, record_type, creation_date,
                  MAX(creation_date) OVER () AS creation_date_max
            FROM Betas)
    WHERE creation_date = creation_date_max;

  • How can I use table headers only without using rows.

    how can I use table headers only, without using rows and without leaving the space.
    If anyone could say me how to paste the pic in this questions, I would have shown it.
    The flow of view is in this way
    {Table header(table on top of table)
    column header1___|| column header2__ || column header3__ ||}
    <b>Here is the blank space I am getting, How to avoid this space?this space is of one table row height</b>
    {Contents column1 || Contents column2 || Contents column3 || (This is of other table below the uper table)}
    I am using scroll for the content part of table only.
    So I am using two tables.
    I am using NW04.

    I did the possibles you explained, but couldn't get rid off the space.
    Any other solutions?
    I am keeping the header static and the content columns scrollable.
    I have used two tables one to display header above and the other to display only the contents.
    I have put the contents table in scroll container.
    And the header table in transperent container.

  • Robohelp 9 does not generate table headers

    Hi all,
    the new table style mapping works, but is of no worth for me if Robohelp is not able to generate table headers in the Word output. Having headers in Word is also a prerequisite for the first line to repeat on each new page.
    Is there a way to output the first line as a header?

    Hi,
    I can partially confirm that. HTML does have the concept of table headers, captions, footers and content. When using a table that is set up correctly, most browsers will render the table header on every printed page:
    <table>
         <thead>
              <tr><th>First heading</th><th>Second heading</th></tr>
         </thead>
         <tbody>
              <tr><td>Value</td><td>Value</td></td>
         <tbody>
    </table>
    RoboHelp does not use such tables. You can manually create these tables in HTML mode. When converting that to Word, the table headings are correctly converted to a Word table heading. In my default Word template, these headers correctly repeat after every pagebreak. But when you switch to Design view, RoboHelp then removes the structure information. The above table will be recreated as:
    <table>
      <tr><th>First heading</th><th>Second heading</th></tr>
      <tr><td>Value</td><td>Value</td></td>
    </table>
    This table will not have it's first row set as a header in Word.
    As to what to do, I can think of two options:
      - You can write a script to quickly transform the tables in your project to have a table structure that works for printed documentation. Since RoboHelp will reset your tables, you will need to execute this script every time you want to generate your Word output. Also, because the structure of the tables will be changed, you probably need to amend your css. (The first table row uses th instead of td.)
      - Personally, I use default RoboHelp tables and I use the macro Peter mentioned. Peter's site contains several macro's that will greatly improve the quality of the RoboHelp Word output.

  • Adding a Row to Table, ComboBox as a  TableCellRenderer Problem !!

    Hell All:
    I have a JTable with one of the Cell as ComboBox. Initially I draw the JTable with Three Rows and the
    the ComboBox in the Second Column works fine. I see each comboBox has different Items. The ComboBox also has a Renderer (as I am customizing the Item's Text )
    Here is the snippet from my Code.
    ==========================
    // UIEditSubAllocation.ALT_ACCOUNT = 2;
    // Get the Viewindex.... to get the correct column
    int viewIndex = this.m_suballocTable.convertColumnIndexToView(UIEditSubAllocation.ALT_ACCOUNT);
    // get the Table Column...
    TableColumn altActColumn = this.m_suballocTable.getColumnModel().getColumn(UIEditSubAllocation.ALT_ACCOUNT);
    // Create Three ComboBox..
    JComboBox[] altActCell = new JComboBox[3];
    for (int i =0;i< 3;++i) // adding Three Rows of Table Data...
    String [] alternateAccounts = new String[4];
    for(int j = 0; j < alternateAccounts.length; j++) // Each Alternate Accounts i.e combobox has 4 items..
    alternateAccounts[0] = "Tom";
    alternateAccounts[0] = "Vic";
    alternateAccounts[0] = "Tracy";
    alternateAccounts[0] = "Andy";
    altActCell[i] = new AltAccountComboBox(alternateAccounts,this.m_suballocTable);
    } // End of adding Three Rows
    altActColumn.setCellRenderer(new AltAccountTableCellRenderer());
    if (viewIndex >= 0)
    ComboBoxEditor altActCellEditor = new ComboBoxEditor(altActCell);
    altActColumn.setCellEditor(altActCellEditor);
    The CombBoxEditor code is...
    ublic class ComboBoxEditor extends DefaultCellEditor
    * Constructs a ComboBoxEditor that uses an array of items of type object.
    * @param items - an array of items of type object
    public JComboBox[] m_comboBox;
    public ComboBoxEditor(JComboBox[] box)
    super(box[0]);
    m_comboBox = box;
    for(int i = 0; i < box.length; i++)
    m_comboBox.setEditable(false);
    public Component getTableCellEditorComponent(JTable table, Object value, boolean isSelected, int row, int column)
    if(row >= this.m_comboBox.length)
    return super.getTableCellEditorComponent(table, value, isSelected, row, column);
    return m_comboBox[row];
    But when I click a Button (in a Panel) which adds a Row (with No values for the ComboBox ).. to the Jtable .. The Row Gets added fine.. but the JComboBox comes with Values from the First Row's ComboBox. I Don't want any Values in the JComboBox for the new added Row. Can someone tell me
    how do I remove the Items from the ComboBox.
    I will really appreciate for any help...
    Thanks

    Hi ,
    as per my opinion one approach would be that ,
    you create a custom table region same as standard one using Jdeveloper and create other required fields also using jeveloper ,and then put this region in extend property of existing standard table region .
    thanks

  • Adding a panel to an open GUI with a background image

    Dear java programmers,
    I want to add a JPanel with some components on an open(visible) GUI whenever a button is clicked. That JPanel carries a button, a progress bar, a label, and a textarea inside a scrollpane. Whenever the button of the panel is clicked a program starts working, and the progress and output of that program is reflected on the progress bar and textfield respectively. I 'put the code to generate and add the panel in a so called "Progress" class, which is different from the GUI class that contains the code to create and display the main gui.
    My gui also has a background image to make is look fancy, which is added by the following way:
    GUI mygui = new GUI();
    mygui.getContentPane().add(new ImagePanel(new ImageIcon("/home/thomas/Documents/external_placement/Report/presentation4_transp.png").getImage()));
    My problem is that the background image is hiding the panel (whenever added) and only when the cursor passes above the button inside the panel it becomes visible (just the button). However when I click the button and the program starts I can see everything inside the panel.
    Is there an efficient way of making the panel visible at once?
    thanks in advance,
    Tom

    Ok now that I'm certain about how to use code tags I'll try to make myself clear.
    First of all I made it work by removing the ImagePanel , adding the JPanel and re-adding ImagePanel, all from within the Progress.class. But I'm not sure if this is the right way.
    Below I'll make an attempt to provide some SSCCE--code. First of all the classes I'm using are 2, the GUI.class which contains all the components of the gui, and the Progress.class which has the additional panel and adds it to the gui whenever the "submit" button is clicked.
    The code from GUI.class which is relevant to this question is:
    public class GUI extends javax.swing.JFrame{
    //the following are declared as "protected" because they are also used elsewhere
                protected static GUI mygui = new GUI();
                protected static ImagePanel backgroundImagePanel = new ImagePanel(new ImageIcon("/home/thomas/Documents/external_placement/Report/presentation4_transp.png").getImage());
                /* The constructor */
                public GUI() {
            initComponents(); //this method initializes all the components, puts the in a JTabbedPane and packs them the JFrame
            setLayout(new BorderLayout());
        /* the eventlistener of the "submit" button */
        private void submitButtonActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
            ProgressBarTest pbt = new ProgressBarTest(mygui);
            pbt.StartProgress();
        public static void main(String args[]) {
            java.awt.EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                    mygui.getContentPane().add(backgroundImagePanel);
                    mygui.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
                    mygui.pack();
                    mygui.setVisible(true);
    } And then I have my Progress.class:
    public class Progress implements ActionListener, Runnable {
    //the following are declared as "private" because they are also used elsewhere inside the class
        private static javax.swing.JProgressBar progressBar = new JProgressBar(0, 100);
        private static javax.swing.JTextArea progressTextArea = new javax.swing.JTextArea(5,20);
        private static ProgressBarTest _this;
        {color:#0000ff}private static GUI mygui;{color}
        /* the constructor */
        public Progress(GUI gui){
            _this = this;

        private static void createAndShowPanel(){

                    progressBar.setValue(i*100/chainArrayLength);

                    System.out.println("actionPerformed sets progressBar value to: "+i);
                    dock.StartDocking(i);
    }Please notice how I use the GUI object (named "mygui") inside the Progress.class to retrieve components from the main gui (particularly the jTabbedPane1), align them with the additional panel (progressPanel) and add them to the main gui again. I tried to color blue the lines where the GUI instance is used but I'm not sure if they will be visible.
    My questions are:
    1. Is this the right way to add a new panel to a jFrame from an external class? Do I add jTabedPane twice in the above code?
    2. Is this the most efficient way of making the additional panel visible at once, meaning by removing the ImagePanel (backgroundImagePanel) adding the panel (progressPanel) and finally adding again the ImagePanel (backgroundImagePanel)?
    Hope I was perspicuous.

  • Table headers

    hi can ne 1 tell me how to add and show the table colunm headers in the following jtable
    Object[][] cellData = {
            {"row1-col1", "row1-col2", "row1-col2"},
            {"row2-col1", "row2-col2", "row1-col2"}};
        String[] columnNames = {"from", "Subject", "Date"};
        JTable table = new JTable(cellData, columnNames);
         contentPane.add(table);

    Simply adding the JTable wont give you the table headers. An easy way of shwoing the headers is to add the jTable to a JScrollPane, and then add that JScrollPane to the contentPane. You will get the headers, and you will get the scrolling feature for the table also.
    JScrollPane tablesScrollPane = new JScrollPane( table );
    contentPane.add( tablesScrollPane );Hope it helped.

  • Adding data to multiple tables using one form in Access 2010?

    Hi All,
    I have a access database with two tables and I want to create a single form to enter data into that tables.
    How to adding data to multiple tables using one form in Access 2010?
    I don't have to much knowledge of access database?
    Please help me
    Thanks
    Balaji

    You really don't enter identical data into 2 tables.  You enter dat into one single table, and then you have an unique identifier that maps to another table (you have a unique relationship between two tables).
    Maybe you need to read this.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/access-help/database-design-basics-HA001224247.aspx
    Think about it this way...  What is you update data in 2 tables, and then the data in one of those tables changes, but the data in the other table does NOT change.  WHOOPS!!  Now, you've got a BIG problem.  For instance, you have a customer
    named Bill Gates.  In one Table you update Bill's address to 1835 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039 and in the other table you accidentally update Bill's address to 183 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039.  Now you have 2 addresses for Bill.  Why would
    you want that???  Which is right?  No one knows.  If you have one address, you just have to update one address and if there is a mistake, you just have to update one address, but you don't have to waste time trying to figure out which is right
    and which is wong...and then update the one that is wrong.
    Post back with specific questions.
    Knowledge is the only thing that I can give you, and still retain, and we are both better off for it.

  • View Criteria in ADF Query Panel with Table-Class Cast Exception

    Hi,
    I am getting Class Cast Exception when using view criteria for ADF Query Panel with Table. The version I am using is 11g Release 1(11.1.1.2.0)
    Here is what I did:
    1. created a view criteria on a view object
    2. all are optional
    3. all are Strings
    3. Dragged the view criteria as a query component (ADF Query panel with Query table) on to the design layout
    and the error when I clicked the Search button is:

    Hi Frank.
    I'm using JDev 11.1.1.3.0 as you suggest the error is no longer present in the latest version.
    I can pick my query from the "Saved Search" pick list on the QueryPanel list of queries just fine, and it sets up the filter properly, but when I press the "Search" button, I get the same reported error...

  • Adding a Panel to JApplet doesn't work properly

    Hi there,
    I have a class "Editor" extended from JPanel to edit some data. In my JApplet I added a JMenubar with setJMenubar() and registered an ActionListener to the menu items. Everything works fine except the displaying of the EditorPanel after choosing the menu item.
    When I'm adding the Panel in the constructor of the applet it is shown correctly.
    public class EditorApplet extends JApplet implements ActionListener
      public void init()
        setJMenuBar(createJMenuBar());
        Editor e = new Editor();
        getContentPane().add(e); // works perfectly
        e.load(2); // load data into editor
      public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
        if (e.getActionCommand().equals("..."))
          Editor e = new Editor();
          e.loadObjects(1);
          getContentPane().removeAll();
          getContentPane().add(e); // nothing happens!?
          getContentPane().repaint(); // ???
          repaint(); // ???
        }What else needs to be done to display the 'new' Editor?

    Wait. You're adding an ActionEvent to your panel.
    I think you want to do "add(this.e)".

  • Reg. Repeating Table headers in Report Output

    Hi,
    I have designed a simple RTF Template as below.
    Sr. No. Customer No. Customer Name.
    If the output is taken in RTF/PDF, and if the no. of records are huge that records go to the next page, then is there any possibility to repeat the table headers to the next and consecutive pages?

    >
    To repeat header rows:
    Select the row(s) that you want to repeat on each page.
    From the Table menu, select Heading Rows Repeat.
