Adding an image to .xml for a spry repeating list or data set

How do I code my .xml so that as well as the text the spry displays an image for each entry? Do I need to create a seperate gallery rather than draw from my root images folder?

Spry Repeat List does not appear in Google Chrome 28

Spry repeat list works in IE8 and Firefox 22. However in Google Chrome 28 no data appears (data is blank). This is the code:

Spry repeat list break DW insert transaction?

Hi,
Does anyone know if spry repeat lists are recognized by DW as input devices? I added a few to a form, which uses the builtin DW insert record wizard, and they don't show up with the other controls in the server behavior list and they break the transaction (red ! on the insert transaction).
Are there configuration issues? Or are these widgets only for search and display forms?

Hi Tony,
I´m sure that the SPRY repeat lists you´re creating would need some heavy modification in order to become "regular" ADDT dropdown menus -- what they would need at least, is some embedded string comparison (aka PHP´s "strcmp" function) for displaying an existing column value as "SELECTED", like ADDT´s menus do:
...and I don´t think your Spry lists provide this for each list option.
and they don't show up with the other controls in the server behavior list
it seems as if those lists have one or more required elements missing which DW needs to accept them as valid "control". You can actually check the differences by opening an other ADDT form containing a valid control and taking a look at the HTML/PHP code of that list -- what does it have what your Spry list doesn´t ?

ADDT Dependent Dropdown SB with Spry Repeat Lists

Hi,
I first want to say that this forum is fantastic and full of very bright folks willing to help us not so bright types.
Next, of course, I have a problem. I'm using spry repeat lists as dropdowns in a form. There are 3 that need to be dependent on each other. I had been using the ADDT dependent dropdown SB and it works great for normal selects. It doesn't seem to work at all on spry repeat lists. I was hoping these two would play nicely together, and maybe they do and there's some trick to this.
If the ADDT SB's don't work with Spry repeat lists, maybe there's a way to do this using javascript?

Thanks for the help. I've decided, based on your accurate assessment of the work involved in getting all this to work with spry, to ditch that and just refresh the damn page after all new entries are made. I appreciate your help, probably saved me many hours.
I do have a wierd issue with the ADDT editaqble dropdown behavior. I actually use this one a lot and it always works well. I have one dropdown that only showsw the first 2 characters of the contents. A swcreenshot is avaiable here: http://www.zenwebguru.com/editabledropdown.jpg
All of the other editable dropdowns on the page, and the site, work fine, but this one is shruken for some reason. I'm wondering if there is a size limitation in the css or the js that can't handle larger records? The largest field in the table contains the value:
"Flat Guarantee; Purchaser to provide one Fender Amplifier (see rider for list of amps) at no cost to Artist."
This really shouldn't present a problem, but maybe it's something else?

the code. I have made this page several time using program like
photoshop, fireworks and dreamweaver....all using xml. This page
uses html data set that is on the page. Which after looking and
many example...all the example consist of a data table. I have
looked at the javascript for many files in the code. I even
downloaded their actual js files to see if they change something. I
am assuming that they are using css to place the data to read...I
just don't see where the "ds1" statement comes into play when you
look at this code. I thank you all in advance for your time and
expert opinions.
P.S. My sample page does show all the thumbnails and links
and after I downloaded their css it does show the background to be
black. But nothing else shows.

Limiting Items Displayed in Spry Repeat Lists, Tables, Etc.

Is it possible to limit the items shown in Spry repeat
region? For example say I have 20 items in a list and only want to
display the first three items, not the entire list. If so how is
that done?

Kin and I were thinking that {ds_RowNumber} might be better
for that particular looping, but you get the idea.

time. We no longer update it but it's a good intro to Spry.
You can find the built in data references in that doc,
granted almost at the very bottom.

is a good start but we still have a lot to add to it. I have
plans for it for sure.
We are doing a big push for 1.6 towards progressive
enhancement, unobtrusive js and things like that.
Expect docs and samples and some cool utilities to come out

And we won't charge for it, but we also won't return any
cash-laden envelopes... ;)

Is a database table required for temporary interfaces with flat file data set source ?

Folks, this is the situation I have in ODI 11.1.1.7
I have a temporary interface (yellow), called MJ_TEMP_INT, that pulls data from TWO data sets in the source into a temporary target (TEMP_TARG). The catch is one data set pulls from a from a table whereas the other data set pulls from a flat file. A union is done on the data sets.
I then create another interface, called MJ_INT, that uses the MJ_TEMP_INT as a source and the target is a real db. table called "REAL_TARGET"
Two questions:
When I execute my second interface (MJ_INT), I get a message "ORA-00942: table or view does not exist" because it is looking for a real db table TEMP_TARG. Why must I have one ? because I am pulling from a flat file ?
On my second interface (MJ_INT) when I look at the property sheet of my source interface MJ_TEMP_INT (yellow), the checkbox next to "Use temporary interface as Derived table" is DISABLED. Why ? Is is also because my temporary interface is pulling from a flat file ?
I have attached a file that shows a screen shot of my ODI studio.
By the way, IF my temporary interface source has only one data set pulling from a db. table into a temporary target table, say called MJ_TEMP2_TARG, and then when I use this temporary interface as a source to another other real db. target table (REAL2_TARGET), THEN, every thing works. ODI does not require me to have a real db. table MJ_TEMP2_TARG and the checkbox for "Use temporary interface as Derived table" is NOT DISABLED and my REAL2_TARGET table gets populated.

Though I understand the reason to materialize the file in a staging area, but that almost defeats the purpose of having a temporary interface in this case if we have to save the data in a permanent db. table first. I assume the db. table sticks around and is not automatically dropped once the interface executing ends. If the db. table sticks around then I also must truncate it first before executing the temporary interface each time. Right ?

Spry Accordian and 2 data Sets

I have created a nested accordian with 2 data sets feeding a
detail region. It works on my machine, but after I uploaded
everything, including the spry js and css files, it still just
shows the {data} markers on the live version. Does anyone know
where the error is? I've tried reuploading it all but it still is
the same.

you are missing
SpryData.js, SpryShell.js, xpath.js in your includes
folder.

Spry update destroyed previous data set

I had a data set on a website I am working on (currently not on server) and it was functioning properly. When I updated my Spry Assets with the spry updater it sent everything haywire, looking funny, not being able to reformat. I deleted my CSS files and redownloaded a new Spry Assets folder and reformatted the page, however the Spry is not working at all, I get a message saying there is a javascript error, I can not view my html table, and my bindings looks funny as though there is a glitch in it. hopelessly confused and weeks of work is now a big mess, does anyone know whats wrong.

Although this affects Spry, it is not a Spry related problem.
Havings said that try clearing your site cache file and see if it still repros.
The cache file is a .dat file located in:
- Win XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\Configuration\WinFileCache-xxxxxxxx.dat
- Win Vista: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\Configuration\WinFileCache-xxxxxxxx.dat
- Mac: /Users/[username]/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver\ 9/Configuration/MacFileCache-xxxxxxxx.dat
Close DW, delete the file and reopen DW.

Windows 8.1 having same issue: Windows could not parse or process unattend answer file (C:\Windows\Panther\unattend.xml) for pass [specialize]. A component or setting specified in the answer file does not exist.

I know there are similar other issues with IE 10 and Windows 7. This is WINDOWS 8.1, and the IE Welcome message is totally absent from the default unattend.xml in the c:\windows\panther directory. In fact, I did a sysprep without using any injected
unattend.xml - this is the Microsoft Default!
So I suspect this will start appearing all over again soon. Anyone figure out what was causing it?

I'm thinking of dumping the entire IE section and see what happens.

I too received this error as I tried to run my first Windows 8.1 deployment. Per another post I commented out this line
<IEWelcomeMsg>false</IEWelcomeMsg>
from the IE section of the unattend.xml. I was then able to run my deployment. I do not see this line in your posting though.
I referenced this link even though it was for Windows 7.

Excel to XML for spry

O.k. i am a designer and i can see the benefit of spry big
time in my work flow. BIG TIME. But i have a client site i am
working on that has a bunch of data but its all in excel files.
Right now to make useful web pages out of it i am using web merge.
i can see using spry to remove my need or dependence on web merge
to create the web galleries forms from the data i have. What I
wanted to know is there any tools you guys have or can recommend to
get my data from excel (I currently export to csv format) to the
xml format that spry uses.
my excel data looks something like this.
picture | fragrance name | small bottle| medium bottle |
Large bottle| item number
also i use webmerge to populate data for a paypal form. is
there any way to do that on the fly also???
so the paypal code would be : <item name>fragrance name
<price> bottle size<item> Item: number right now i have
that data populating with field names from my csv. it replaces on
running the script. so i have one page which is a template and it
makes the 300 or so other pages from that. Now i know your thinking
um.. no we don't create pages automatically like that. Thats not
what i am trying to do i am trying to eliminate doing all those
pages. ..

o.k, i dont understand xml very well...but i think i am
figuring it out. what i have done is turned my excel file into an
xml file with oxygen xml editor and i am trying to figure out how
to format it correctly so that spry can read it. once i get this
figured out i should be good. i am working with a much smaller file
only 16 records instead of the files i have for my client that
average 300 or so records

Adding behavior to spry:repeat

Hi all,
I need to hook into the creation of DIVs during data load (using SpryData) to add behavior to the DIV. Is there some built-in hook, or event that is thrown to do this? Or do I need to hack SpryData to do it?
Basically, what I want to do is position each element in a specific space, and then add custom events to each DIV as it is created.
The code I have so far looks like this:

For each spry:repeat section, I need to hook in so I can alter the inner DIV (class="content") to layout the information in a specific manner.

Not sure what you mean by hooks, but if you are speaking of styling content, use CSS. Leave the Spry Data Javascript file intact, or it will act up on you. If your 'chunks' of data are what you want to dive into and style bits of each chunk (all technical terms...), you might need to subdivide your data into smaller chunks. Then, wrapping in divs with classes will give you control over styling.
You already have a cascade of classes and ids in your code that you can use to attach styles to.
If you are talking about adding Javascript behaviors, they are typically "attached" using <a> tags, as you need to have defined elements to attach them to.
But generally speaking, when you use Spry:Repeat regions you can totally style up your first region, including the behaviors, then when 'running' the repeat, all the styling and behavior is copied to the repeats.

Using javascript to dynamically generate the html for a Spry table

I have some javascript which generates html code for a Spry
table which displays the content of a Spry data set. The problem is
that after I generate the html, Spry never fills in the values for
the table.
Here's what I'm doing:
Using a data set observer, check for onPostLoad and generate
the html code
Using innerHTML, stuff the code into the appropriate
<div>
Use regionName.updateContent() to update the region I just
created with the html code I generated
Interestingly, if I take the generated source for my page and
remove the data set observer, the Spry table displays correctly
with all the expected values. This suggests to me that my generated
html code is correct, but that there is some sort of timing issue
(i.e. Spry doesn't know about the new code I generated).
Any suggestions?

I'd guess that it is a timing issue as well. I haven't looked
much at the dataset capability in Spry, but it may be that the
dataset "finds" all of the regions and code that it applies to
before the onPostLoad event is triggered. If that is the case, then
your generated code doesn't exist yet,and so the dataset thinks
that there is nothing for it to apply to.
Will the HTML that you generate change based upon the dataset
that is actually returned? I guess I'm looking for the reason why
the HTML is being generated when it could be in the page itself and
avoid this issue completely.
