Adding bulk users to a group in CMC

Hi All,
We have a requirement to add nearly 100 users to groups in the CMC. The users already exist in the system and the groups are limited to three. Is there a way to use excel to bulk add all the users to groups in one go, instead of adding one by one.

Not able to Add users to Secutity Groups in ADS

I am successfully able to create the user in ADS in OU & users. I am not able to add them to the any group which is ADS. can any body help me out? it is much appreciated.

AD gropus are managed by Windows Ad teams. You cannot add users to Ad group from CMC directly.
Ask your windows team to add users to particular AD group and then update the Windows Ad authenctication from CMC to reflect in BO

For example: I want 100 create 100 users in EPM and Providing them with custom define Team defined permissions and can I add Time sheet Manager as well while creating bulk user through resource template in Project server 2010.

Hi Prashant,
In order to add users in a security group, you can open the group, select all the appropriate resources (pressing CTRL key) and add them to the group. There is no other easy way. Otherwise a powershell script could do the job.
For the timesheet manager, if all the 100 resources have the same timesheet manager, you can go to the resource center, select the resources (sorting by resource ID will give you together the latest resources added), bulk edit the resources and select the
timesheet manager for the selected resources.

Bulk move users from one group to another in XI 3.1

Hi all,
I have a group that contains approximately 20,000 users. I now need to move around 7,500 of these users into a different group.
How can I do this programatically in bulk as I don't want to go through and manually change the groups of 7,500 users?

Hi Christian,
Assuming you would need to move users from one group to another and remove them from the previous group, you could use the attached java code.
To run the code, you would need to save it as .jsp file and paste it inside AdminTools application context.
The pre-requisite to run this code is to create a Text file with all the 7500 user names in it. The text file should contain one user per line
(example:
User1
User2
User3
You can get this information from query builder by running the below query
Select top 20000 si_name from ci_systemobjects where si_kind='user'
Initially do it for 2-3 users to text the results.
You would need to edit the jsp and modify these three lines

Above in SI_NAME, you would need to provide the usergroup name you want your users to be added to.

Above you would need to provide the id of the group you want the users to be removed from(i.e the current group from where you want them to be moved).

Adding a user to group in OID based on provisioning of a generic connector

I have OIM 11g installed. Also I have created a generic connector and I provision it to the users. Now based on this, I was thinking of attaching a task in the process definition of the Generic connector I had created such that when the Create User happens, then I can get the task I created triggered so that I can add a user to a group in OID. I searched for some codes I could use for this but failed. Can someone please guide me as to what APIs and method calls I need to use to add a user in OID to a group. The group will be a static name and hence will not change over time. Say the name of the group is GenericConn so when I provision the generic connector to the user, in the OID the user's dn should be added as a Member to this GenericConn group present there. Please guide me.

I mapped the adapter variables as follows:
User ID to Usr Key of User data
orclguid to LDAP GUID of User data (I have LDAP Sync enabled in my OIM)
PDataOrg to LDAP DN of User data
GroupDN to literal value cn=GenericConn,cn=Groups,cn=new,cn=test,cn=com
OrganizationDN to literal which is not populated with any value (same existed in the original AddUserToGroup task of OID Connector)
And all other adapter variables apart from these to the Process Instance -> OID Server -> corresponding attribute details while mapping
However when I provision the generic resource to the user, I get the task as rejected and the following error in the Resource History:
Response:     DATA_ERROR
Response Description:     Unknown response received

Need help with a script for moving bulk users to another OU and removing/assigning groups

I've never used PowerShell before and have been asked to track down a script that can move bulk users from one OU to another, and remove and assign new group membership. I've been googling it for about 30 minutes and haven't really gotten anywhere. If
somebody can point me in the right direction or give some tips I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm sure this kind of task has been done by several people in similar environments I just haven't been able to find those people/examples.

Webcenter group space access denied for newly added user in oid group .

We have upgraded our webcenter with latest version 11.1.1.4.
We have created a groupspace where we set the acceess for group space usiing add groups .
Suppose i have added userRoles1 to get access of this groupspace.
Now i am adding another user part of this usergroup from some oid console .
I am able to see this user in the member of this userRoles but whenever this user
is trying to access this gs getting unauthorized access message .

User Account Control treats members of the Administrators group as standard users.
With UAC enabled, members of the local Administrators group run with the same access token as standard users. Only when a member of the local Administrators group gives approval can a process use the administrator’s full access token. This process is the
basis of the principle of Admin Approval Mode.
When an administrator logs on to Windows Vista or newer, the Local Security Authority (LSA) creates two access tokens. If LSA is notified that the user is a member of the Administrators group, LSA creates the second logon that has the administrator rights
removed (filtered).
To work around this issue, use the net use command together with a UNC name to access the network location.
Programs may be unable to access some network locations after you turn on User Account Control in Windows Vista or newer operating systems

Script Help - Adding Users from AD Group to Computer Object Attribute

Environment:
Computer Objects have the following name convention - USERNAME-INV#-PC. An example is TEST1-54321-D. There is a GPO in place that adds any user populated under the managedBy attribute in a computer object to the administrators group for that computer
object.
Scenario:
Create "Local PC Admin" group
When user TEST1 gets added to the "Local PC Admin" group, a powershell script that runs on an hourly scheduled task goes out and finds any computer object (that is not a server) that has TEST1 in its name. For example, TEST1-54321-D for desktop
and TEST1-98765-L for laptop.
It then adds the user to the managedBy attribute of the computer object and appends the text "added as local admin on <currentdate>" to the computerobject description.
If TEST2 is added to the group later, the script should see that TEST1 has already been added and only add TEST2 to the managedBy attribute to the appropriate computer as well as the "added as local admin on <currentdate>".
Still thinking how this can be automated when a user is removed from the "Local PC Admin" group.
Can somebody please find holes in this scenario or suggest a better method to approach this?

Security nightmare? How so? Regular domain users cannot modify the "managedBy" computer object attribute.
The "Local PC Admin" group would be a ADUC security group. The Help Desk and Network Admins would be the only ones that can either add users to the group or directly modify the "managedBy" computer object attribute.
The Group Policy that runs against the desktops/laptops looks to see if the managedBy attribute of the computer object is populated. If so, it adds that user as a local admin to their workstation/laptop and removes any other user/group not specified
and given local admin rights. This would only be done for a handful of users (those in the Local PC Admin group) that need admin access ; in other words, the attribute would only be populated for a few computer objects and not the entire organization.
If it is not populated, it does nothing and leaves the default admins on it.

Added user to SharePoint Group -- Not inheriting the groups rights

I created a SharePoint 2013 Workflow, where a subsite is being created and after that, the workflow will create a Group with "full control" rights on the subsite. At the end, I add the workflow Initiator to the group. All is done by the REST Api
like declared in many tutorials.
Everything is working fine so far, I can Access the site, the group is there with correct privileges and it contains the desired user I am adding with the workflow.
The strange Thing happens, when I try to surf on the site with that user from the group, because he has no rights at all. Even with the "check permissions" under the Website Settings, there is no permission listed.
Can anyone explain this to me? It feels like a bug for me, or did I Forget to make something like an "update" command after adding the user?

I haven't seen this with SharePoint groups, but have seen similar behavior with AD groups. With AD groups its a problem associated with the claims token timeouts. The solution there was to decrease the timeout for the claims token or wait 24
hours for the token to timeout. I suggest waiting a day to see if the user shows up in Check permissions tomorrow.

Adding users to PAB group with same last name as existing

Cannot add user to PAB group when user has same last name as an existing Group member.
Seems to work, see number tick up and green bar flash, but, never really adds.

Error when adding an AD user to OID group

I'm getting a very unhelpful message when trying to add a user to a group using the oiddas console.
We have synchronized our existing Active Directory ldap into a 10.1.4 OID. We now have an OID group that we want to add existing AD users to. I can select 'Add User' and see the user I want to add. But, after selecting the user the page returns with the single message of 'Error!'. That's it. Also, the page becomes unusable. Clicking tab menus like Configuration or Directory does nothing. You have to log out and back in to get the console to work again
I can't find anything in the logs......can anyone help?

Are you using any of the following "Sum, Count, Min, Max, and Avg" as member names, if so then this can generate the error and you would need to change the name.

You shouldn't be using the NT plugin in 3.1, is there a reason you are using this plugin over AD? If you really want to use it you may need to open a case with support and trace the CMS. Are there any groups currently mapped? if you hit update without adding/removing what happens? What if you remove the NT users group and hit update?

You would need to use the PSI in your PowerShell commands. Here is a .Net example to get you started, convert this to PowerShell:

Hi Prashant,
In order to add users in a security group, you can open the group, select all the appropriate resources (pressing CTRL key) and add them to the group. There is no other easy way. Otherwise a powershell script could do the job.
For the timesheet manager, if all the 100 resources have the same timesheet manager, you can go to the resource center, select the resources (sorting by resource ID will give you together the latest resources added), bulk edit the resources and select the
timesheet manager for the selected resources.
