Adding column headings

I am using RAS server to create dynamic columns in my report. But the column headings are not coming.
Isnt there any way to set the heading for the newly added columns?
Any idea what i am missing?

You either have to add the heading yourself, or you can use
reportClientDoc.ReportDefController.ReportObjectController.AddByName("{Orders.OrderID}", "OrderID")
This doesn't let you set anything about the objects, so it would probably be better to add them separately.

I had an issue like i need to put column headings for a report and I want to add an extra field to the report.
The problem here is that the report was actually cloned from a Query.At the time of cloning,they forgot to add the column headings.
Now we need to add the column headings for the same.How can we proceed for this and where we need to add our code?
How to add an extra field to the existing report?

Hi,
you can get this done in 2 ways:
1 - Change the query to add another column and the re-generate the report
2 - If changing query is not possible, you can change the report it self for adding extra field. If you look at the code, it will be more like normal ABAP code. you can easily modify it (If you are ABAPer) for your additional requirements.

Dynamic crystal report generation - issues with column headings

I'm trying to generate a crystal report dynamically based on a "result set" data(Query: select REPORT_ID, REPORT_NAME, REPORT_DESC, RPT_FILE_NAME, LOCATION from IRS_REPORT_DETAILS). I'm able to generate the report run time, But the report is without columns heads. I would like to include the column headings as well. 
I searched the API(RAS) and found that there is a 'add(java.lang.String fieldName, java.lang.String headingText) " method present in "ReportObjectController" using which we can add the headings.

I'm facing problems in using this code. Here you are getting the first field in the array. This may not be the field you want to add since we aren't sure how the arrays are ordered when retrieving fields from the report. It is better to retrieve the fields with the findObjectByName method, thus ensuring you are retrieving the field you want to add to your heading.

DBMS_OUTPUT does not work like you think it does. It does not display anything. PL/SQL s/w is incapable of displaying anything on a client. That is the client's job.
DBMS_OUTPUT has a buffer variable. This variable resides in the most expensive memory area of an Oracle database. The PGA. When you do a DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line(), you are merely adding a line of text to this buffer variable.
A client can after a database call was made and executed, query this DBMS_OUTPUT buffer - and display and empty its contents. So in order words, the client makes another database call and reads the DBMS_OUTPUT variable.
The wrong part is this.
1. The client calls your PL/SQL code.
2. You use SQL to pull data from the SGA buffer cache into a buffer variable residing in very expensive PGA memory.
3. Your PL/SQL code terminates.
4. The client now makes another PL/SQL database call to DBMS_OUTPUT.
5. The client reads the DBMS_OUTPUT buffer and it renders it locally.
The problem:
- the SQL data is moved about between memory areas on the server (consumes loads memory and CAN cause the server to crash by exhausting server memory)
- the client needs to make multiple calls to get the data, and the data is dumb text strings instead of structured data
The CORRECT approach is:
1. The client calls your PL/SQL code.
2. Your code creates and returns a ref cursor.
3. The client now fetches the data from the database via the ref cursor handle.

JTable Column Headings

While adding a Jtable without a scrollpane, the column headings are not displayed, why?

Why does JTable doesn't automatically display the table header?Because its actually two components. One is the JTable and one is the JTableHeader.
If you add the JTable to a scroll pane (the most common situation), there is code in the JTable class that checks if the table is being added to a scroll pane. The scroll pane has a well know layout so the header can be added safely to the column header of the scroll pane.
However if you add the table to a panel you don't know what layout manager is being used is so you don't know where to add the header so it is left up to the programmer to customize the layout appropriately.

Column headings are mismatched when export to excel (Data Only)

We have an old Crystal Web Portal designed using CE10 in VS 2003.   The crystal viewer shipped with VS 2003 exports to excel (Data only) in correct order where all the columns headers are matched with the corresponding data.
We have re-written the entire new web portal in VS 2008 with using CE10 on windows 2003 server. Everything works we can view the report, page navigation, export to PDF, export to MS Excel 97-2000.   However when export to MS Excel 97-2000 (Data only) option, the column headings are mismatched with the corresponding data.   I don't understand what changed between VS 2003 Crystal Viewer and VS 2008 Crystal Viewer.   I think this has to be the crystal viewer problem because I'm exporting from the viewer tool bar.
Here is the API referencing in the code:
In Visual Studio I'm referencing all CE10 10.0.3300 version api's. Howerver since Crystal Viewer with VS 2008 is newer and has 10.5.3700 version I'm using CrystalDecision.Shared and CrystalDecision.Web are version 10.5.3700.   These seems to have no problem. The entire web portal works fine.
More about Web Portal:
-User is validated upon login with CE10
-use selects the report from the list
-Report ID is then passed to reportdocument
-reportdocument API loads the report and
-Viwer.reportsource= reportdocument.reportsource
We cannot update Crystal Enterprise 10 right now.   I'm in the middle of deploying new web portal with VS 2008.   I have to resolve the Export excel (Data only) option and have the column headers matched with the data in excel.   I have tried everthing.

The report saves the printer information and if it can connect to the exact same printer then the print options will get passed to the printer.
If the report is being sent to a different printer, Crystal doesn't know if this new printer will support the same settings, ie. duplex or color. In our case we were setting the report to print duplex printing and landscape. When our application went to print it actually crashed because some of the printers didn't support duplex.
What we did is disable the print button on the viewer and added the PrintDialog control to our form. Use the ReportDocument.PrintOptions method to set the properties for the PrintDialog control.

Stock Requirement List - MD04 - adding columns in this list

Dear All,
I am working on the Stock Requirement list ( transactioncode MD04) and the customer wants to add columns with the fields STPO-DATUV ,date of change of a drawing, and the drawing number with revision level STPO-YY_DZEINR.
There is a badi MD_ADD_COL_EZPS which provides in adding columns, but according the structures MDPSX , MDEZX and MDSUX there are no fields in thoser structures, which directly match with the required fields; somebody has a clue to help me out and get it working.
For instance: Vendor- and Customer data can be added by using the pushbuttons and those fields are available from above mentioned structures.

You guessed correctly. I missed to inform our Strategy. We are using Strategy group 11 Make-to-stock prod./gross reqmts plnning.
User is not able to do PGI or create delivery. He says I have enough stock in MMBE but why system is not allowing.
Here there are some pending document like -
1. Pending sales order
2. Pending deliveries (picking not done)
2. Delivery created & Picking Done but PGI not done. These things will have a commitment against the stock. But we are interested in getting these document numbers, so that we can take come action against them.
MD04 simply shows the mrp element as order / delivery but the document number is not available. How to find these documents.
Please help. Is there any table or a standard transaction ??

Webforms - Wrap Text/Word Wrap for Column Headings

I have some member aliases that are set as my webform's column headings, but they are fairly long. Setting the column width to a custom value that fits most of the text in the heading makes the form very wide and ugly to work with. I don't see any option to Wrap Text or use Word Wrap in the column headings. Is there any way to do this?

I am not aware of any option which allows you to wrap the text, it may be possible customizing the [CSS |http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_hp_admin/ch12s03.html] though to be honest I am not even sure about that and even if it was possible it would apply to all apps.

Adding Columns to the matrix in SAP B1 user form using Visual studio 2010

Using Visual studio 2010, I have created a SAP B1 user form( b1f ) with one matrix.Matrix is having 5 columns. Its working properly. Later, I want to add few more columns. Then I added columns to the matrix as I have created columns initially. But, it does not saves.
i.e, Whenever I run, In B1 I could see only old columns. Newly created columns are not showing.So, I closed the .net project and opened again. Created columns are not showing in visual studio b1f itself. So, I created again and saved. But, its not saving.I tried it many times.
What I am missing?

Are you using B1 Studio? Anyway try to clean the solution first then rebuild it. This would re-copy files to the output directory, that contain your changes.

LOV of column names with a report's custom column headings?

I have a list ov values definition that looks like this:
select column_name d, column_name r from all_tab_columns where table_name = 'DATABASE_LIST'
I'd like to list the custom column headings from a report as d, rather than repeating the column_name. How can I do this?

As Anton said, the best thing is to store your custom headings in a table so that you can use the table for your LOV as well as for your report headings.
To use dynamic report headings, you can use the 'PL/SQL function body returning colon-delimited headings' feature on the Report Attributes page.
So, if your report headings are stored in table t that function body can be

When adding columns, why do I get overrides on style?

Hi all,
When I'm adding columns in a certain document I end up with the new columns having overrides on them. How can I avoid this?
The columns I added are seen in the middle.
As you can see the they all get a "shift down" by -22 pt.
I use this shift down on some other place in the document, but the table columns are clean from that kind of override, and just by selecting a column and adding 4 new columns "to the right" of that column, I would expect the new ones to get the exact same properties as the one selected.
Can anyone try to explain what might be wrong with my document or way of working?
Adding info: It seems there's something in the styles - many properties on them... This has noting to do with cells specifically. Just adding a textbox results renders the text this way as well, with the baseline shift (only no override symbol).

Ah... now I get it. The default styles of the document were set to a specific paragraph style and another character style.
Setting the defaults to [Basic Paragraph] and None respectively seems to put everything in order.
(You set a default by clicking outside the document so that nothing is selected, and then you select the styles [Basic paragraph] and None)

Discoverer 10.1.2 does not refresh new added column

Hello,
I need help to add a new item to EUL Business Area folder for a new added column in the database table.
When I refresh the folder in the BA EUL, the result shows no difference between the folder and the underlying table in the database; however, when I quey the table in the database, a new column is there. The refresh of the folder in the Discoverer Admin tool cannot find the newly added column. Weird!! The first time saw this problem.
Could someone shine some light on it? Would be really appreciate it!

I have a slightly different problem and can't solve it! When I refresh the EUL, the result shows the differences between the folder and the underlying tables in the database. However, it does not refresh the EUL in Discoverer Administrator 10g. Nothing happens! When I try to refresh again, the same list is shown... Does anyone know what could be happening?

No data found when adding column link to classic report

Oracle 11g r2, APEX 4.1.1.00.23.
I have some classic reports.
I go to Report Attributes, then I click Add Column Link in the "Tasks" right menu, it adds me a column link, I just add some text for the link and a page to go to.
Then I run the report and I get :
report error:
ORA-01403: no data foundTested with several classic reports on multiple pages.
Debug mode shows me :

How to get added columns in the after DDL trigger?

As title, I want to get information, like name/type/.., about the added columns by sql statement "alter table *** add (***)" in the after ddl trigger. But looks like dba_tab_columns view doesn't include the added columns.

but all versions continue to insert only the already existing columns. I think that Oracle actualize the dictionary first after this system event.
