Adding CW++ features to Visual C++

I've followed the Method 1 of the instructions in the Knowledge Base on how to Update an Existing Microsoft Visual C++ Project with New Tools for Visual C++ Classes in MEasurement Studio twice now with the same results. Both times it doesn't work unless I add some of the steps in Method 2 of the article. Once I get up and going however any Dialog Box that has a CW++ control in it doesn't display properly. Everything compiles nicely but then doesn't actually run right.
My question then is can you give me a hint on where to look for problems when everything seems to compile and link perfectly but then doesn't display on the dialog? I've really been careful with all the steps involved and so I don't think there is
an error on my part. There is so much going on behind the scenes when Mearsurement Studio creates a project that it's hard to recreate it all. I feel like I'm so close though when everything works fine unless there is a specific CW++ control in one of the dialogs. Class Wizard works great as well. As far as setting up member variables goes anyway.
Thanks for your time.

I thought I would answer my own question since I finally found the problem. Well, actually I found the right question and a friend at work found the problem.
Turns out the original project didn't have ActiveX controls enabled. Adding the following line in the InitInstance() of the application file:
AfxEnableControlContainer();
solved this problem. I would have thought that by trying to use ActiveX controls, like the CW++ controls, an error would be generated somewhere but there wasn't any.
Just wanted to post this in case anyone else had whole dialog boxes not appearing because they had a CW++ control in them and was wondering why.

  • Visual Studio keeps adding SharePoint features when opening a solution

    Hello everybody.
    I'm facing a rather naughty problem. In a Windows 2012 environment (hosted inside an Azure virtual machine), with SharePoint installed, I created a VS SharePoint on-premise solution. I added a feature, and started adding lists, libraries, site columns, layout
    pages and such. At one point, every time I added a new list definition, the VS would create me a new feature. Which is not what I wanted, so I manually deleted the new feature and added the list to the first feature. No matter how much I try, VS keeps adding
    features instead of using the one I already got.
    But that's a minor problem. After a while of adding lists, I did a check in to my TFS and closed the VS. After a couple of days, I open the VS again, and without a warning VS checked out the solution, checked out my only feature, removed the lists from it
    and created one feature for each library. I ended up with feature2.feature, feature3.feature, ..., feature50.feature files!!! Insane!!! I had to manually delete them and re-add them to my first feature.
    Now I can't turn VS off without having this mess all over again. Why on Earth would somebody program VS to do this? Is there any way to turn this behaviour off?
    Thanks in advance!
    [Edit] Forgot to mention that I'm working with Visual Studio 2013.

    Hi Fernando,
    Thank you for posting in MSND forum.
    Based on your issue, could you please tell me what template sharepoint project you create in VS2013?
    In addition, I find a similar thread about your issue, please refer the Xiaoying’s reply to check this issue.
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25857722/visual-studio-unexpectedly-adding-feature-on-load
    Or you could try to download a new sharepoint template in this VS2013 and then create it check if you still get the issue.
    I suggest you could try to create a same sharepoint project template from VS2013 on another machine and then check this issue again.
    If you have any update message, please feel free to let me know.

    does not let me add text to my verizon website. This adding text feature works well on internet explorer. I can click on add text, the box opens up but I can not type in the box for some unknown reason. What can be done to correct this problem ...

    I didn't search before, but "you are not alone" (the thread [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/747424 In Verizon's Sitebuilder for webpages, I can not edit text boxes when using Firefox. I do not have this problem if I use Internet Explorer. Is there a setting I can change in Firefox to correct this problem?] has 18 votes for "I have this problem, too).
    I can only guess about the reason... Firefox works with many websites' "rich text" editors, but ones that haven't been updated for five years may assume that Firefox is the old Netscape browser and use scripting techniques that don't work in Firefox.
    If Verizon has a different "basic" or HTML editor that you can tolerate using, you could try that. It might not be subject to the same incompatibilities.
    If I someday get a Verizon account, I will surely be looking into this further, but for now, it's hard to suggest anything else.

  • Adding iCloud feature to backup device to local storage.

    Adding this feature, personally would make my life simpler in a whole bunch of ways. What if we could make iCloud temporarily store any amount of data (from our iOS devices) until all this data is backed up to iTunes on a computer setup to hold the backups in the first place. After the computer is done storing all the data it would have to send a confirmation to iCloud letting it delete the backup in the cloud. It doesn't even need to be a computer what if it was time capsule or an Airport Extreme using an external hard-drive. The confirmation would help in making sure everything is there, because in the case of a power failure or a coincidence similar would in turn tell iCloud the data was not backed up, then iCloud would notify the iOS device was not successfully synced due to the malfunction. So that way you know and can personally fix the problem or sync the data to your computer personally. This brings ease and is more affordable, people can sync their iOS devices away from the computer (like on vacation or at work) the same they would with iCloud but the computer or HD would store the data instead of iCloud.

    Even if you are backing up to iCloud, you can perform a manual backup to your computer using iTunes at any time, and delete your iCloud backup thereafter if you wish.  Not everyone has a computer or wishes to use a computer in this way so I doubt you'll ever see a system designed around this type of functionality, especially when it can easily be done manually already.

  • Does the K9N6SGM-V (MS-7309) 1.11 BIOS have any added overclocking features?

    I have the K9N6SGM-V with the 1.8 BIOS.  I am wondering if I update to the 1.11 BIOS that is offered at this URL: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1086 if it will have any added overclocking features.  I would really just like to increase the FSB on the X2 Black Edition CPU I currently have installed.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    No, and for these kind of mATX Boards, the chance that such options will ever be included is close to zero.  They are not really intended for overclocking in the first place.

  • Adding a graph in visual studio 2008

    Post Author: computerdude
    CA Forum: .NET
    I am building an application using Visual Studio 2008 with Crystal Reports. I am trying to add a graph to the report in the Report Header but the OK button is not highlighted.
    I have added a data source to the report. Data is being pulled from a .net class.
    Is there something else that I have missed doing?
    I have also tried to add a report with Crystal Reports. The graph is added but when I try to edit it the OK button does not show their either.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi John,
    There are 3 things that I would have checked:
    1) Do you test machine have got Crystal dlls having the version 10.5.3700.0 in c:\windows\assenbly folder?
    2) if it is a web application, then do the web.config has got the crystal dlls of the same version?
    3) DO i have any dlls of old version in applications bin folder?
    4) If all other seems ok I would have run Modules.exe from [here|www.sysinternals.com] in dev and production machine to compare the dlls and files.
    Hope it helps!

  • Server 2012 R2 Network Teaming Issues After Adding WOW64 Feature

    Recently I have had a specific issue adding the WOW64 feature to an active Server 2012 R2 server in core mode (no management).  The server had two active virtual machines.  A server 2008 R2 in version 1 mode and a 2012 R2 in version 2.
    All were up2date as of April 10 2015.  This was a domain connected core with domain connected virtual machines.  We are the domain administrator.
    After using powershell to install WOW64 and issuing a restart we lost all external network connectivity to the server once the server came back up.  From the console we could ping 127.0.0.1 and all the network addresses of each VM but not the
    default gateway or any address on the local network.  We tried several resolutions including disabling all firewall rules and assigning a known VLAN but nothing worked.  Something went completely haywire within Windows 2012 R2 and network teaming
    and the virtual switch that supplies the VM's with communication.
    What we had to do was remove one of the physical network adapters from the team using powershell from the core console.  We then assigned an address to the nic and whallah we were able to remotely communicate to the server again but the problem
    still remained with communicating to the team.
    After hours of trials we finally stumbled on a solution deleting the hyper-v virtual switch though a remote console, then the team through powershell.  This of course broke all the hyper-v VM's.  We said f'it and rebooted.
    This is the magical combination apparently
    We then recreated the team using the remote management GRAPHICAL widget using every physical EXCEPT the nic we were communicating to.   Then we recreated the hyper-v virtual switch remotely again with the GRAPHICAL widget and assigned
    it an address using the command line sconfig tool.   We then went into the GRAPHICAL hyper-v manager and assigned all VM's to the new virtual switch.  WOW everything works again
    Let me just say here in this post that the lack of graphical management in CORE mode is a complete nightmare.  The fact we have to use some graphical tools to perform certain tasks and the command line for others is just silly.  The sconfig.exe
    tool should have built-in teaming commands as inexperienced remote administrators are very difficult to work with over the phone trying to explain spelling of the upper/lowercase commands.
    This post is more informative than really asking a specific question but if I were to ask one I'd ask, why did installing the WOW64 feature and rebooting break the external communication of the team and the virtual switch?

    Hi gettnmorebetter,
    Could you try to confirm whether you have in the following situation, if you do not found the related symptom please try to install the latest update then monitor the issue
    again.

  • New features added, old features removed

    I've seen many users who has asked why the new firmware removed some good features and so on... So I have this thread, and hope that answer you all.
    the phone ROM is basically fix, say 128MB ROM and the available ROM for user is 44MB (say in the spec or manufacturer's spec) which means 84MB is used for the ROM.
    So if a new feature is added then they have to remove or shrink something to maintain that 44MB available for users as the spec.
    Also bugs and problem fix could cause the increment of ROM... unless it's extra install file or patches (which also takes up some space either in ROM or memory card)
    Cheers

  • Adding new feature without recompiling

    i have a question
    i have this program in java that translates one language to another now i want to be able to add another translator later if i required at runtime without recompiling the whole thing.that is i should have the provision of adding new translators feature which i dont know now about, later without compiling.
    if anybody could guide me i will really appreciate that
    thanks

    A factory might do the job if you've organized your existing code properly.
    Assume an interface exists:public interface Translator {
       public String translate(String text);
    }Also suppose you already have a single translator:package my.package;
    public class EnglishToDutchTranslator implements Translator {
       public String translate(String text) {
          return translation;
    }Store this fact in a .properties file or preferences or whereever:ENDU= my.package.EnglishToDutchTranslatorHere's the factory:public final class TranslatorFactory {
       // contains the above name -> tranlator class name mappings
       private static Properties translators;
       // don't instantiate this class
       private TranslatorFactory() { }
       public static Translator getTranslator(String name) {
          String clazz= translators.getProperty(name);
          if (clazz == null) return null;
          try {
             return (Translator)Class.forName(clazz).newInstance();
          catch (Exception e) {
             e.printStackTrace();
             return null;
    }Basically all the factory does is 1) get the fully qualified class name
    given the name of the translator and 2) instantiate an object from that
    class. All that it cares about is that the object implements the Translator
    interface. You can build new translators and register them in that
    properties file. A caller should get a translator as follows:Translater t= TranslatorFactory.getTranslator("ENDU");kind regards,
    Jos

  • Dear Adobe, it's great you keep adding new features, but what about ...

    Dear Adobe,
    It's great you keep adding shiny new "newsworthy" features ... but what about fixing long-standing bugs/issues and addressing the basics that have been missing since the the beginning?
    WHAT ABOUT LEAVING PASTED CLIPS SELECTED after a Paste operation in the Timeline?!? Like every other app in the world?
    What about leaving a complex selection of clips intact after an UNDO operation? (This costs me hundreds of minutes a week.) Like every other app in the world?
    What about allowing "." as an abbreviation for "00" when entering timecode?
    What about letting the renaming of a clip in a bin be reflected in timelines?
    What about a "reduce project" option? (To remove all items not used by selected sequences, like Ae.)
    What about actually useful clip labels (colors) which link between timeline items and their respective clips in the bin? (Like Avid & FCP) So we can mark certain clips a certain color in a bin and have that color be reflected in timelines?
    What about being able to close the title tool with a shortcut, not just a tiny 4x4 button?
    What about fixing the title tool so it's kerning/leading shortcuts are NOT the exact opposite of EVERY OTHER CC application?
    What about a simple "Select Media Relatives" command, like in FCP and Avid?
    What about fixing the audio scrub toggle shortcut so that it works without having to play or use the mouse?
    What about a shortcut for "Reveal in Finder" from the Timeline? It's in the context menu -- why no shortcut?

    I am curious about the time you waste ...and wonder what and why you are doing it... that causes this loss of efficiency.
    2. What about leaving a complex selection of clips intact after an UNDO operation? (This costs me hundreds of minutes a week.) Like every other app in the world?
    Maybe  there is a better way !

  • Need pointers for adding voip feature to an ios app

    Hi,
    I am looking to add a voip feature to an Iphone and ipad app and wanted to check if there are frameworks within IOS that can be used to enable voip calls between two IOS devices.
    Also, I wanted to check if there is publicly available or for purchase IOS code librabry for XMPP/Jingle that can be leveraged to build out the voip capability.

    Sure! There is an AS3 branch in the zxing library. This should get you started (its for Androdi but should work for IOS too):

  • TA22353 I inadvertenly added this feature to my Mail application -- how to remove????!

    I apparently added the digital signing certificate file to my Mail application when fussing around with a pdf that I was trying to sign. I didn't install it into Mail, but lo and behold, today those two extra buttons are in my Mail application. How can I remove this from Mail? I called Apple, the support guy told me he didn't know what it was and had never heard of it, that it must be a 3rd party add-on. I haven't added any 3rd party add-ons, but I did try to sign a dpf digitally about a week ago and so that must be the cause. I really need to remove the feature --  people cannot open my emails if I include the automatic signature of any sort, it adds a digital signature block to ALL emails. HELP!!!

    By default Mac apps do not close when you close the window you were working in. Unlike in Windows when you click the top right X icon in any program is closes the window and the program shuts down. On Mac OS X clicking the X in the top left hand corner only closes that windows and leave the program running in the background. If they are left open and you reboot they will restart with the system and load a window for them.

  • Adding Entity Framework Crashes Visual Studio 2010/2013

    I'm having problem with using the Entity Framework version 6/5.  Whenever, I create the new solution and try to use the Entity Framework, Visual Studio crashes and restarts itself.  Scenarios are:
    1) Add Entity Framework by Add New Item-> Entity Framework-> go through wizard and finish...Crash.
    2) Add by Nuget console-> Install-Package Entityframework...Crash.

    4) new solution, nuget package manager, select Entity Framework->Install...Crash.
    No matter what I do, and how I try to install entity framework, it keeps crashing on both VS 2010 and VS 2013.  It's frustrating when I'm trying to learn the technology.  Below are the Application error log I see in the Event Viewer:

    Hi Hiroaki Morikawa,
    >>Message: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
    Based on the error message, I doubt that it is the memory performance issue, like this case:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/71f134bd-d665-43b5-8c67-52c4d6ed4ed9/kinect-driver-problem?forum=kinectsdknuiapi.
    Please restart the system, stop all unnecessary third party processes, and make sure that your task manager is free,  then test again.
    Do you install the VS2010 and VS2013 in the same machine? If so, please also make sure that your machine has the enough configurations. To make sure that it is not the add-in issue, please also run your VS in safe mode, or run your VS as the admin, test
    it again.
    Best Regards,
    Jack
