Adding mandatory filter with own LoV to BW OLAP Universe

Dear all,
I want to add a own filter with custom LoV to a characteristics-filter in an OLAP Universe. This filter does not exist in the BEx Query, so I have to do it manually.
So when the prompt shows up in WebI, the User should be able to select the Values from the custom LoV, for example:
- Tokio
- London
- Paris
The filter has to be mandatory and Tokio should be preselected. I was testing some things with the filter-XML, but always got errors. Can somebody tell me how this works?
Thank you for help in advance!
B. Wegner

Hi,
There are a few steps involved, I would suggest approaching them one at a time.
First, try to set up a filter (condition in the universe) to only show data for Tokyo (no prompt). Ensure you can get this to work.
Next, try and turn this condition into a prompt, but just define the LoV in the prompt syntax, not a separate object. Check that this works.
Next, try and split out that LoV into it's own object that populates from the characteristic in the BEx query. This will be the tricky part (maybe), if possible, get a filter created in the BEx query (make sure it's set as 'ready for user input') so that you see how the LoV gets created.
As a last resort, have a look in the manual: http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31SP3/en/xi31_sp3_sap_olap_univ_en.pdf
Hope that helps.

  • LOV Filtering on OLAP universe

    Hi
    i have a BOXI 3.1 SP2 FP2.6 universe on top of a bex query (BW BI 7 SP5)
    my bex query contains a variable 'ready for input' which give me a prompt condition on BO universe.
    My BO condition has the default LOV <Variable name> which gives me 2 hidden objects <Variable name> and <Variable name>Base.
    this hidden object displays a list of values on prompt in my report. i want to filter the list of values on 2 single values (from the whole list).
    I know i can define the 2 single values directly in my prompt by filling the 'value ' and 'key'. But my 'value ' are static.
    I'd rather to limit the list of the LOV directly on the hidden objects <Variable name> or <Variable name>Base of the universe on the 2 key of my requested items
    is it possible ?
    thanks in advance,
    Rgds,

    Ingo, you mentioned in this posting that the functionality required is not supported for OLAP universes ... is this still the case in 3.1 ?
    WE have a similar challenge here where we need to restrict the list of Vendors that is presented to the user to only Merch Vendors. I need to do this in a BEx Query, as there is a 2nd variable which returns a list of articles based on the selected Vendor, so need the selected Vendor to be available in the Post-Popup variable exit code.
    I have implemented the RSR_VARIABLE_F4_RESTRICT_BADI in BW, which correctly limits the list of values in teh Vendor dropdown when the BEx query is run in RSRT / web, but in WebI this list of values doesn't apply.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

  • Table Filter with static LOV column

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.14 and ADF-BC in my project.
    For one of the tables,I have the following scenario.
    1. I have a viewobject [Ex: EmpVo] in which one of the attributes has a static LOV[:Ex: 'Status' attribute in EmpVo has static LOV - StatusLOV with values A - Active I - Inactive].
    2. EmpVo -- > Employee table which stores A and I as status values in database
    3. Display this view object as table in jsff page.
    In the jsff page, when filter is enabled, for the status column I am able to filter only using 'A' and 'I'.
    But actually filter has to work with 'Active' and 'Inactive' as filter values.
    Please suggest the best way to implement filter in this scenario
    Thanks,
    Praveen

    Take a look at the following article:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/16-custom-table-filter-169145.pdf
    Here, for LOV's you could have an LOV as a filter component instead of the default inputText component.

  • ALV filter with own logic

    Hello colleagues out there,
    I have a request from my users concerning ALV filtering. They want to have filters of the kind :
    - A = 5 or B = 6
    - A + B > C
    (A, B, C Columns of the table)
    Surely I can implement such rules "hard" coded in the ABAP. But my question is: Is there are more generic way, that allows the users to define their filter rules themselves without having to modify my programs ?
    Many thanky for your help
    Rabanus Diehl

    Hi rabanus,
    1.  A = 5  can be done
        B = 6 can be done
    but OR conditions, between two fields cannot be done,
    in standard alv filter functionality.
    2.  A + B > C
       cannot be done,
      bcos it allows filter only one one field, by one field,
      not
      using some expressions/equations.

  • Create new object (measure) with IIF function on BW Olap universe:mdx error

    hello
    i have a universe based on a BEX query
    i want to create a new object (a measure) with the IIF(,,) function
    i created the following select:
    <EXPRESSION>IIF(@Select(Currency Type\CurrencyTypeCode)="10",@Select(Key Figures\RevenueGlobalCurrency),@Select(Key Figures\RevenueLocalCurrency))</EXPRESSION>
    defined as number
    where
    CurrencyTypeCode is a dimension (character format)
    RevenueGlobalCurrency and RevenueLocalCurrency are measure (number format)
    i always have a parse which is OK but
    when i want to  use the object on a webi report i always have an MDX error : ...invalid MDX with .... (WIS 10901)
    and advise ?
    Thanks

    Hi Didier,
    Thanks a lot for your help.
    Now it works : i do not understand why
    i explain:
    the correct syntaxe of my new measure is :
    <EXPRESSION>([Measures].[4FVLHG7OAJMNY9WC06X6JLOZQ], [0CURTYPE].[10])</EXPRESSION>
    it does not works with my "L01 currency type" BO dimension
    ([0CURTYPE].[LEVEL01])
    when i had :
    -my universe is based on a BW BEX query
    -my universe has been automaticaly generated with the assistant
    -the Currency Type Class was define as below:
           - 1 BO dimension object : L01 Currency Type =>
    [0CURTYPE].[LEVEL01]
           - 3 BO detail objects : L01 Currency Type techName =>
    [0CURTYPE].[LEVEL01].[TECH_NAME]
                                              L01 Currency Type Key =>
    [0CURTYPE].[LEVEL01].[[20CURTYPE]].[Value]
                                             L01 Currency Type Long Name =>
    [0CURTYPE].[LEVEL01].[[40CURTYPE]].[Value]
    i always had a wrong mdx syntax error on the webi report
    i updated the class with the follow
         - 1 BO dimension object : L01 Currency Type =>
    [0CURTYPE].[LEVEL01] (idem)
           - 3 BO detail objects : L01 Currency Type techName =>
    [0CURTYPE].[LEVEL01].[TECH_NAME]  (idem)
                                              L01 Currency Type Key =>
    [0CURTYPE].[LEVEL01].[NAME] (updated)
                                             L01 Currency Type Long Name =>
    [0CURTYPE].[LEVEL01].[DESCRIPTION] (updated)
    then it was working
    Then i tried to reproduce from scratch and now it also works with the previous version of the class.
    I do not understand anything
    Is there something like a cache file of the MDX query (in RSRT, cache mode is set to inactive for the bex query) ?
    ps: this is the same if a use webi under infoview (java) or webi rich client...

    (edit : there is mistake in the post : objects are always between [] even if it is not dispay => change objects to code mode)

  • OLAP universe filter with pattern matching.

    Hi,
    I tried to create both a qaaws and a webi report which contained a filter with pattern matching on an olap universe .  When I ran this it took too long to be usable. I found note 1500666 which says that pattern matching is not supported in MDX and to use BEX query variables instead.
    I have created a bex query with a variable which has "Variable Represents" set to "Selection Option". I can run this query and using the search option I can do a pattern match search. I have built a universe based on this query but the filter that gets created automatically in the universe uses a "Between" operator.
    Does anyone know if it is possible to change the definition of the filter in the  universe so that it does a pattern match search and if so how?
    The end result is that I would like to be able to do a pattern match search on the text description of a BW employee object.
    Thanks
    Quentin.

    It would be better if you post the Filter definition here...
    And why don't you do Pattern matching at BO query panel level??
    Where you can find Matches pattern operator to do same stuff.
    Thank You!!

  • OLAP Universe Filter for Constant

    Hello
    I am trying to create a universe filter. We have a BO OLAP Universe on top of MSAS 2008. We are at  BOXI 3.1 SP2/FP2.2
    <FILTER KEY="[Date].[Calendar Date].[Date]"><CONDITION
    OPERATORCONDITION="InList"><CONSTANT
    CAPTION="[Today].item(0).MEMBER_CAPTION"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
    Where [Today] is a calculated member.
    This one parses fine, however when it comes to MDX which i capture via
    profiler
    WITH SET NS28B9BE741FD446A5A0414EA718F8FC_0 AS Filter([Date].[Calendar
    Date].levels(4).allmembers,((([Date].[Calendar
    Date].currentmember.properties("CAPTION")="[Today].item
    (0).MEMBER_CAPTION"))))
    SELECT { [Measures].DefaultMember } ON COLUMNS ,
    NS28B9BE741FD446A5A0414EA718F8FC_0 DIMENSION PROPERTIES
    MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAME, MEMBER_CAPTION ON ROWS FROM [My Cube]
    This returns empty. However it works fine and returns value if i remove "" wrapping
    [Today].item(0).MEMBER_CAPTION and run this query in SQL Server Management Studio ( MDX query)
    However i cannot introduce the same in the filter - if i try it gives
    me a parse error.
    i.e the following doesnt help
    <FILTER KEY="[Date].[Calendar Date].[Date]"><CONDITION
    OPERATORCONDITION="InList"><CONSTANT
    CAPTION=[Today].item(0).MEMBER_CAPTION/></CONDITION></FILTER>
    Can you kindly advise if you have seen similar errors and what i can do possibly in this case to workaround this?

    Hi Didier,
    Thank you for your response. That was exactly my original design - but it has performance implications for us. Please see an earlier thread of mine.
    Query Performance in OLAP MSAS Universe using Filter
    In this Case the MDX will become as below.
    Which means every additional dimension i add creates multiple cross joins, and the filter will go through all possible cross-join combination to filter out that one record for that particular date. My original thread explains this more clearly.
    Is there no other way to implement such a filter?
    WITH
      MEMBER [Measures].[2FF3DF31-5D02-4A9B-A8,BC,E7,25,C2,30,1B,61] AS
        IIF
            [Date].[Calendar Date].CurrentMember.Properties("CAPTION")
          =
            [Today].Item(0).Member_Caption
         ,1
         ,0
    SELECT { [Measures].DefaultMember } ON COLUMNS ,
    ,NON EMPTY
        Filter
                  CrossJoin
                AddCalculatedMembers
                  [Date].[Calendar Date].[Date].MEMBERS
          [Measures].[2FF3DF31-5D02-4A9B-A8,BC,E7,25,C2,30,1B,61] = 1
    DIMENSION PROPERTIES
    MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAME, MEMBER_CAPTION ON ROWS FROM [My Cube]

  • Olap universe lov restriction on detail object key

    Hi,
    I created a restriction on dimension lov in SAP olap universe using 0PLANT dimension on Orders keyfigure as below
    <EXPRESSION>(@Select(Key Figures\Orders),[0PLANT].[1000])</EXPRESSION>
    this syntax works but webi results are not matching with BEx.
    Values of BEx RKF and formula object (
    =[Orders] Where([L01 Plant] = "1000")
    )created in webi are matching.
    I am trying to create restriction on detail key object,  like
    <EXPRESSION>(@Select(Key Figures\Orders),[0PLANT].[LEVEL01].[[20PLANT]].[Value].[1000])</EXPRESSION>
    above measure is giving error when i run the webi query.
    here both L01 Plant and L01 Plant Key are having same lov as 1000,but i wanted check exact values with detail key syntax.
    Can anyone please tell me the syntax for using detail objects keys for restriction in Select Clause.
    Thanks,
    Harsha

    Hi,
    why are you not creating this as a restricted key figure in the underlying BEx Query ?

  • Mandatory fields on the same page with dependent LOVs

    Hi,
    I am working on an ADF-BC application using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4
    I have an ADF Creation form with dependent LOVs and while implementing dependent LOVs we set the autoSubmit property of the selectOneChoiceListBox as true.
    If I have some mandatory fields on the same page then because of the autoSubmit property set as true whenever I select a value in the list the page gets submitted and the mandatory fields give an error that the values are required therefore I had to remove the mandatory fields.
    I tried using f:subview but even that dint serve the purpose because what I want is something like partialSubmit so that my mandatory fields do no give an error when I select a value in the list.
    Can somebody help me on this, how to have a dependent list and mandatory fields on the same page.
    P.S: It is very crucial for my application
    Thanks,
    Raksha

    Hello,
    This bug has been around since 10.1.3, its even still present in Trinidad and now in 11.
    One of the ways to avoid is to make your fields use:
    showRequired="true"instead of
    required="true"I have not found a decent way to avoid this in general.
    My idea was that this shiould be possible with a phaselistener and determine if this is a partial page event instead of a normal submit, but this didnt work.

  • Mandatory fields in a LOV

    I have a view in which I've added attributes from an entity to make a LOV. These attributes are mandatory in said entity. Foreign key in the view (and in an underlying entity) is not mandatory however (it can be null).
    When I drop this LOV column onto a page as an InputText with ListOfValues, resulting form field is required (and it will show an error if I leave it empty and try to submit the form). That is not what I expect. The entity referenced from a view is not updatable, the underlying entity is.
    How can I have an optional field with a LOV, not making referenced entity columns non-mandatory?

    Hi,
    Try after remove required attribute in your LOV
    required="#{bindings.YourField.hints.mandatory}"

  • How to implement af:table filter with java backend?

    Hi,
    One of the af:table feature is to have a filter over its column to filter data. I want to implement this feature, however I'm not able to find documentation or example for it.
    We use plain java as backend (i.e. not using ADF BC) and most of the documentation and examples over the net are with ADF BC.
    Have you done or come across an example of similar implementation before?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
    You can implement your own filters by adding a "filter" facet to your af:column.

  • Getting a "Displaying only the newest results below. To view all results, narrow your query by adding a filter" message in error

    I have a list with almost 10000 items. I have a view that should be returning 8 items. For me, the Farm Admin, I see the full set of expected values. The message "Displaying only the newest results below. To view all results, narrow your query by
    adding a filter" shows for other users. This makes no sense -
    there ARE filters on this view. I'd rather not increase the throttle limit.
    Anthony Kelly

    Hi Ajk,
    Check that the list is not scoped by an audience; but, I'm afraid that either way admin, (e.g. non Farm admin or site collection admin)
    I'd recommend exporting to excel, create two new spreadsheets and then import as custom lists.

  • BICS - Passing Mandatory Filter Variable value to a BEx Query

    Hi All,
    I have similar problem as the below URL.
    BICS - Passing variables to a BEx Query
    Details:
    I have a mandatory filter - Display Currency in BEx query. I'm trying to input this mandatory filter from Xcelsius, (by mapping the filter value to a cell in Xcelsius spreadsheet).
    However, when I lauch the dashvoard in IE page, it still throws an error:
    " One or more mandatory varaibles of the query... are not filled"
    Does anyone face this issue?
    Regards,
    AK

    Hi Sriram,
    I assume you are using SAP direct connectivity.
    >> Yes, it is direct connectivity to SAP-BW.
         (And I'm publishing this dashboard in SAP-BW system itself.)
    1. What are all the Variables you get in intial variable screen?
    because if you have a Mandatory variable in your Bex query, a intial variable screen will appear with all the variables.
    >> I'm testing the underlying BEx query, it has one mandatory variable for "Display Currency". Other are optional variable-filters, so other filters are not a problem.
    2. when you get this error "One or more mandatory varaibles of the query... are not filled", just after the Launch or after the variable screen?
    >> I use the option in Xcelsius: SAP --> Launch -->  a new IE page opens, then I get this error
    3. However you can bye pass this screen only when you give default values to your mandatory variables.
    >> When I use personalization in BEx side, to input default value (e.g: USD), and then run this standard content dashboard, the hangs.(Do not see anything on IE page for long time. Though the data is very less-Few hundres rows)
    So, I'm looking at passing the value from Xcelsius-spreadsheet, however, the dashboard is not picking up the value from the mapped-cell.
    Hope this gives more clarity on the problem.
    Cheers,

  • Check Interactive report filter with APEX item :P101_USERNAME

    Hi,
    is there a way to create a filter with IR which is based on the :P101_USERNAME item?
    I use this variable with the windows user name and want to show only rows where the current user works with.
    Thanks ahead,
    Tobias

    Hi John,
    my plan was to reference the filter on the user level.
    Parts of selection for the IR:
    SELECT r.r_id,
    c.c_name,
    r.r_note,
    UPPER(r.win_account)
    FROM requests r, classes c
    WHERE r.r_c_id = c.c_id
    Info:
    WIN_ACCOUNT looks like: ARNHOLD_TOBIAS
    :P101_USERNAME looks like: ARNHOLD_TOBIAS
    The goal is that a user in the standard view sees only his rows/calls and if he want to see the rows/calls from the colleagues too. He/She would only need to take off the filter for the USERNAME.
    I could use my own items with an extra region too but I thought that there was an easier way then that.
