Adding multiple rows or columns to a sheet

Hi There,
I'm new to this so pardon me please.......I've tried everything, I've looked everywhere..........does anyone know how to add in multiple rows or columns into the middle of a worksheet? There has to be a quicker way to throw in a quick 20 rows rather than just doing it one by one?????
Frustratingly yours
Morris

Hello
It seems that you missed a detail:
+1. Highlight the number of columns you want to add before or after your insertion point.+
+_2. Control click to get menu._+
+3. Select "Add Columns Before" or "Add columns After" - whichever is appropriate.+
without Control
with Control depressed

    How do you add or delete more than one row or column at a time.

    That's a great finding!
    I just wrote a feedback requesting a shortcut like this.
    It is a pity though that they desing it to work only if you select the header of the row/column. It should be enabled to work from within any cell in the table.
    Who wrote such an error ?
    These interesting shortcuts behave flawlessly even if the cursor was in D18 for instance.
    (a) I never saw them in the delivered resources.
    (b) they aren't responding to the OP's question which was about "Adding and Deleting Multiple Rows and Columns"

  • Web dynpro screen with multiple rows with columns that can be edited

    Web dynpro screen with multiple rows with columns that can be edited individually:
    Hi
    I am busy creating a screen in web dynpro for ABAP which we would like to make available via Portal ESS (Portal 7).
    I need to add 'n type of table (or almost something like Excel) or something in which someone can type a few paycode numbers (there should be lets say 10 blank rows in which info can be typed in and if I click on a button or so, more rows must be added if necessary.  Then in the other colums stuff like amounts must be entered which one should also be able to edit then and there.
    Can anyone assist in what I can use for this?  There does not seem to be some existing element that I can use.
    Help will be appreciated.
    Regards
    Debbie

    Hi Debbie,
    Whiel Creating table you need to be care full that use chose INPUT FIELD as the CELL EDITOR. Just guessing that if ur table is not editable u might have choosen TextView as default cell editor type.
    check link for details on TABLE UI
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/EN/b5/ac884118aa1709e10000000a155106/frameset.htm]
    easy way is to first add UI ELEMENT TABLE to your VIEW, then right click over it & select create binding from context. After you have a pop up where you can select what columns you want what should be its cell editor etc.

  • Reading each value from spreadsheet file with delay (multiple rows and columns)

    Hi,
    a) I want to read EACH VALUE from a spreadsheet file having multiple rows and columns WITH DELAY. I am attaching my VI and sample datalog file for reference (tempsensor.txt).I need to do so because as soon as I read put ON the Sensor button on front panel, LV reads all the values at one go. I need the values for each temperature to be displayed after a delay.
    b) Secondly, I would like to read another file containing the state of four antennas (deployed:1; undeployed:0). I am logging state of each antenna in each column of the file(magnet.txt) I need to have four LEDS on front panel to display state of the antennas. I dont know what I have done for antennas in my VI is right or wrong. I guess thats rhe wrong way to approach the problem. Please help!!!(column1: Antenna1 state ; Column2:Antenna2 state.. and so..on..)
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks in advance,
    Ratnesh
    FYI: The first column in my datalog file represents timestamp(number of seconds elapsed), second column: reading for temperature sensor 1, third column: reading for temperature senosr 2, and so on. I am using approx. 11 temperature sensors.
    Also, I have generated the log files for the reference purpose only. They do not represent the actual values. They are far away from actual values.

    Look at this modified version of your VI. After looking at it, I determined that a shift reggister was not required in this case.

  • Populate multiple rows and columns based off of a single cell

    Does anyone know a way to populate multiple rows and columns based off of the input of a single cell. I'm trying to create a workout tracker that auto populates from a master list of workouts. Example, in A2 the user selects the workout from a drop down menu (St1, St2, St3, etc) and the workout is pulled from the master list and is populated into B2:C5.
    I'm using =LOOKUP(A2,Master :: A2:A32,Master :: C2:C32) right now, but it's only drawing the top column. I'm looking for an edit for the formula (or completely new formula) that will place the info from the 1st column of the Master table into the 1st column of the Auto Tracker 1 table and then on down until the 4th column.
    Here is a screen shot of what I have now:
    And an example of what I'd like to accomplish:
    Any and all help is appreciated, and please let me know if there is any more info that I can give that'd help out.

    Hi Mike,
    Your screenshots show that you have merged some cells in Column A of both tables. That may be the reason why the LOOKUP function is having trouble working out which range of cells to examine.
    Hope this helps.

    Ian.

  • How to save data from JTable multiple rows and columns

    Hi Y_Not thanks for your help before...
    But what should I do if I want to get/save many data from many column and rows??

    i don't quite understand your (repeated) question. what is the problem with "multiple rows and columns". Y_NOT and i have shown you ways to access them.
    all you need are 2 loops: one around your number of rows and one around the number of columns or vice versa depending in which order you want to save things:
    for (int col = 0; col < data.size(); col++) {
        for (int row = 0 ; row < data[col].size(); row++) {
            // save your data
            saveData(data[col].getElementAt(row));
            // or use yourtable.getValueAt(row, col);
    }this is not a problem of Swing/Java but of simple algorithm...

  • How do I delete multiple rows and columns in an image?

    I am looking into how digital SLRs extract video data from a CMOS sensor. To give an example, the GH1 from Panasonic can record video at 1920 x 1080 from a 12 MPixel sensor that, say, is 4000 horizontal x 3000 vertical. How they do that seems to be not in the public domain, but there have been a few guesses (see http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=206797 and http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=38713).
    One approach would be to simply read every second row of sensor pixels (1500 rows read from the original 3000) and once you have those in memory, delete every second column (2000 columns left). You would end up with a 2000 x 1500 image which could then be resampled to 1920 x 1080.
    I'd like to simulate what the camera appears to be doing, by generating a 4000 x 3000 test image and then asking Photoshop CS4 to delete the appropriate rows and columns. It may not necessarily be every second row; the Canon 5DMk11 appears to read every third row, so I may need to delete two out of every three rows.
    Can Photoshop do that sort of thing? If so, how?

    Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I did take a detailed look at your images, but they weren't 100% convincing because it wasn't clear just what was happening. And Adobe's explanation, after reading it again, explains nothing at all to someone who doesn't know how Nearest Neighbor works.
    But you are correct -- Nearest Neighbor does effectively delete pixels. I proved it with the attached 6 x 6 image of coloured pixels (the tiny midget image right after this full stop -- you'll have to go to maximum zoom in PS to see it).
    These are the steps to delete every second row and then every second column.
    1. Select Image > Image Size.
    2. Set Pixel Dimensions > Height to half the original (in this case set to 3 pixels).
    3. Set Resample Image to Nearest Neighbor.
    4. Click OK and the image shoould now consist of three vertical white strips and three vertical Green-Red-Blue stripes.
    5. Repeat steps 1-4, but this time set Pixel Dimensions > Width to half the original (in this case set to 3 pixels). The image should now consist of three horizontal stripes Green-Red-Blue.
    Just to make sure the method worked for every third pixel, I repeated the above steps but with 2 pixels instead of 3 and obtained the correct White-Green, White-Green pattern.
    I resampled the Height and Width separately for the test so that I could see what was happening. In a real example, the height and width can be changed at the same time in the one step, achieving the same results as above.
    Finally, how to explain how Nearest Neighbor works in the simple cases described above?
    Division by 2
    In the case of an exact division by two (pixels numbered from top leftmost pixel), only the even numbered rows and columns remain. To put it a different way, every odd numbered row and column are deleted.
    Division by 3
    Only rows and columns 2, 5, 8, 11... remain.
    Division by N
    Only rows and columns 2, 2+N, 2+2N, 2+3N... remain.
    To put it simply, a resample using Nearest Neighbor (using an exact integer multiple) keeps every Nth row and column, starting from number two. The rest are deleted.

  • Downloading .xls file with multiple rows and Columns

    I need to genarate .xls file with multiple rows and and Columns and sent as an email.Since our customer having Problem with .CSV files need to genarate .XLS file.

    Hi Madhu,
    You might also consider using Excel Spreadsheet XML as the target structure (namespace is urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:spreadsheet).  When you double-click the resulting xml on a PC it automatically opens with Excel. So, users don't see a difference.  It will open up a lot of options with formatting including creating multiple worksheets if you wanted to.  Best of all you can stick with XML.

  • Multiple Rows and Columns selection on ALV

    Hi all,
    What is the best solution to allow the multiple selection or combination of selection (rows and columns) on an ALV ?
    I would like to be able to select some rows and some columns and to get the result cells in order to update them.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    David

    Thanks Srinivas and Seela,
    I forgot to precise that my ALV is dynamic, I used the method 'add_new_child_node'.
    I tried the different possibilties with method attributes but I don't find the good attributes combination to allow columns selection.
    I add also that I have to be able to select several no adjacent columns.
    What do you think about this workaround :
    Is it possible to add a line on my ALV with checkbox between the header line (with column title) and data line.
    I will search using the method add_cell_variant but I don't know if it's possible with dynamic ALV.
    Thanks.

    Bhima,
    Would you consider running the report directly in the Analyser and using the Drill down functionality or Change Query - Local View of Bex to achieve this?

  • Adding multiple rows

    How do I add multiple rows at once? Thanks,
    Owen

    See page 69 of the English edition of the user guide for the basics. If you've already been there and read that, you may be saying; yes, but I want to add them in the middle of my table. That's an extension of adding rows to the end of the table. Add as many rows as you need, at the end of the table. Then select the new rows by click-dragging across the row labels. Then grab the selection by one of the labels and pull to the left to separate the new rows from the rest of the table. Without letting go, move the cursor up the table to where you want the new rows to reside, just to the right of the labels, and you will notice that insertion marks, a split line, appear along the row borders under the mouse. When you reach the destination, let go of the mouse switch and the blanks will drop in where you want them.

  • Dynamically adding new rows and columns

    i want to have a button on my jsp page which shud add new rows dynamically. and same one for columns.
    how do i calculate the values across the rows on the forms
    I'm new to JSP. Please point me in the right direction...any tutorials or code will be helpful.
    thanks

    Well its a good question actually and the most needed one.
    Say 4 example u need a screen which should accepts the employee details in one screen
    and the user should be able to enter all the employee details in one screen and he should
    have a flexibility to change the previous details too.
    So 4 that u need to know 2 things:
    1) Using of JspBeans
    2) Using Vector
    I will give u a brief idea:
    So the bean is just a container been which has the methods say
    setEmployeeName(.....)
    getEmployeeName()
    So the basic logic is, the naming of html form elements and displaying multiple rows of elements.
    Say 4 eg, empname -> <input type=text name=empname<%= count%> value=<%= ....%>>
    So u should run the loop the size of ur vector times and every time u add a vector u should save all
    the data using same logic in ur vector and thatz it once u commit get all the values from the vector.
    Try this u will definitely get it,
    all da best,

  • Adding multiple rows to a cell?

    Is it possible to add multiple rows of text to a single cell? I am trying to create a workout log. Typicaly I would record several exercises with weights and repititions to a single days workout. Is this possible in Numbers?
    Suggestion?
    Thanks.

    Hi Dcneuro,
    I am trying to create a workout log. Typicaly I would record several exercises with weights and repititions to a single days workout.
    You can enter multiple lines of text in a cell... But I'm wondering why you would want to do that. A log would be more useful if you structure it like this, one exercise to a row and repeat the date where appropriate:
    If you structure it that way or similarly (rather than entering multiple lines in a cell) then you can then use Numbers to do the things spreadsheet software is designed to do: derive summary statistics, charts, etc.  The formulas in this summary table are:
    B2, copied down:  =COUNTIF(Log::B,A2)
    C2, copied down: =SUMIF(Log::B,A2,Log::D)
    D2, copied down: =AVERAGEIF(Log::B,A2,Log::D)
    E2, copied down: =AVERAGEIF(Log::B,A2,Log::C)
    Obviously these workout numbers make no sense. This is just a simple example to give you an idea of the kinds of things you can do if you structure your log properly.
    Also, have a look at the Running Log template (File>New>Personal>Running Log on the Mac, or on the iPad: + then Create Spreadsheet then scroll down to the Personal section).
