  • Video FX (special effects) keep blacking out my clips..

    I just switched from using IMovie 08 to IMovie HD because I wanted more effects to further enhance my videos etc. However, one of the very odd things I've been running across is when I try to use the special effects (mainly the Earthquake/Electricity) i apply it to my selected tab, however, once it's done applying, a black screen just shows up with just audio and no video.
    I've fiddled with the "Effect IN/Effect OUT" sliders, to align when the effect comes in and exits. and I've done it with other special effects (like flash) and the others work fine. It's just with earthquake and electricity that this black screen keeps showing up over and over again.
    Please help this poor noob!

    Hi
    Can be so many things.
    1. Often the free space on the internal hard disk (start-up disk) is less than
    25Gb free. When down under 5Gb it goes really strange and very instable.
    2. In iMovie up to vers. 6 there can be added plug-ins. They can be faulthy or
    missmatch.
    3. iMovie has a pref file - rather often this can be corrupted - deleting it forces
    iMovie to make a new fresh error free one. (Easiest is to make a new account, log into
    this and re-try - works in same way but lot's of more pref files will be made fresh.
    To start with.

  • Controling the way an image fades out

    I added keyframes to the beginning and end of a still image and lowered the opacity to zero on the last keyframe, the entire image has a duration of 10:00.
    I am not happy with the way it fades out, it seems to just fade out near the end of the duration and not as gradual as I would like. How can I better control the way it fades out?
    Thanks.

    1) When moving keyframes up or down if you hold the shift key this action is more accurate
    2) If you look there are boxes with numerical values next to the sliders, they change as your opacity goes down or up.
    3) You can either add extra keyframes in between the two you have already (hold the cursor arrow right over the green line and click p) or pull / play around with the blue handles that appear when selkecting smooth.

  • Adding special effects??

    I just upgraded to leopard and now imovie is completely different. How do I add special effects to the clips?

    For effects use iMovie 06.
    iMovie 08 is NOT an upgrade of iMovie 06. It is a completely new application. iMovie 08 is better for absolute beginners that don't want to burn a DVD. Most others will like iMovie 06 for its far greater editing power and ease of making DVDs. (Like creating Chapter Markers and Share to iDVD.)
    Most owners of iLife 08 I know use iMovie 06.
    iMovie 08 is a wonderful program assuming that you're using it for what it was designed to do, assemble simple videos to share on the Internet.
    Remember that Apple includes iMovie 06 as a free download to iLife 08 owners. (THEY WANT YOU TO HAVE IT!)
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html
    Much has been written about the differences between iMovie 06 and iMovie 08. I have found the below link to be helpful.

  • Image Fade Out/Load new Image/Fade In

    I think I am having an event timing issue. My desire is to
    change the "header" image on each selection of a tabNavigator. I
    can swap the image without issue through a img.load process. I
    placed the image on a canvas and set the "showEffect" and
    "hideEffect" on the canvasto fadeIn and fadeOut. (I actually have 2
    images on the canvas) On the tabNavigator "change" event I call my
    getImage() function and set canvs.visible=false, I have the tab
    index for img.load=headerPic[idx] and then I set
    canvs.visible=true; The result is that I do not get the first
    visible change, I think. Tab 1 is initialized to visible in
    ionComplete, clicking on tab 1 has no effect since it is selected
    already. When tab 2 is selected the image changes to the new image
    immediately and then fadesOut. Tab 3 then will fadeIn. Also
    regardless of the tab selected, if I select another tab the ongoing
    fade effect will continue on the newly selected tab. It seems the
    load method doesn't care about effects - so I don't know how to
    sequence these effects.
    Thanks in advance.

    You can use the completeEffect on Image to have an effect
    every time an
    image loads, such as you can see used here
    http://examples.adobe.com/flex2/inproduct/sdk/photoviewer/PhotoViewer.html,
    but I don't think there's a corresponding effect that you can
    apply to the
    old image before the change.
    I think you're going to need to use ActionScript to get the
    control over the
    effects that you want, so you can call either the end() or
    the reverse()
    method on the effect when the graphic needs to change in
    mid-effect.

    I was able to get it loaded. This was a great video. I love the way you explain stuff. Very professional.
    I just downloaded LR4 for trial. I have CS5, and have been using CS for a while (CS2,3 and 5). I have a couple of questions for you:
    1. I also have Picasa for organizing photos. Do you see the need to have both Picasa and LR?
    2. What is the advantages of LR when you have CS? For example, I have Curve Plugins in CS5 that I would like to use in LR. I don't see a way to do that. So I end up having to do further editing in CS5. LR seems to add tasks to my workflow. Maybe I need to learn more. What are you thoughts?

  • URGENT: button rollover animations and image fade ins?

    Hello, I have a site where an image appears which has 6 words
    on it. Each word will be a button where the following actions take
    place:
    on rollover a line draws through the button
    an image fades in on the left and another on the right
    when you click the button, a large window (not popup, prefer
    within flash) appears with information, I guess an swf or mc would
    work.
    once you roll out the images fade out and the line draws in
    other direction so it disappears
    How can I code the buttons to do all this? I am using flash
    8.
    THanks!

    Ok so far so good. IF you mouse over super saturday you will
    see what happens. Now, what is the code when I mouse out so those 2
    things that appeared will disappear? Also, when you click super
    saturday, you will see an swf that loads but it loads in between
    other layers and all other buttons are active outside the swf. How
    do I overlay it over everything then also have a close button on
    this swf? here is the code for a button:
    blu.onRollOver = function() {
    blu._parent.attachMovie("link8","blu_mc",1,this.getNextHighestDepth(10000));
    sat.onRelease = function() {
    loadMovie("popup_saturday.swf", "popup");

  • MovieClip: Fade Out then Fade In

    I need to produce an image gallery which when a thumbnail is pressed it loads a new image, fades out the previous image then fades in the new one.
    I have it fading in but I don't know how to fade the previous image out before.
    Here is my code so far:
    import mx.transitions.Tween;
    import mx.transitions.easing.*;
    var imageLoader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader() ;
    var imageListener:Object = new Object () ;
    imageLoader.addListener(imageListener);
    imageListener.onLoadInit = function() {
           var fadeIn:Tween = new Tween(holderMain.holderImage, "_alpha", Regular.easeIn, 0, 100, 60, false);
    holderMain.holderButton.button1.onRelease = function() {
           imageLoader.loadClip("one.jpg",holderMain.holderImage);
    holderMain.holderButton.button2.onRelease = function() {
           imageLoader.loadClip("two.swf",holderMain.holderImage);
    Does someone understand how to do this?

    How do I set it up so that it loads - then fades out - then fades in?

  • Simultaneous fade out and fade in and image

    I currently have code that fades out on canvas of a view
    stack and fades in a second canvas of the view stack. However, my
    desired behavior is that the fade out happens as the fade in
    happens so it would simulate a tween effect like when making
    animated gif's. Is there a way to do this, and if so does anyone
    have any sample code to do this?

    so the fade out and fade in are working like you said,
    however I want then to be in the same position on the page. I would
    like each canvas to be at coordinates (0,0). Here is my code, but

  • Fade out effect in applet

    How would i go about making a fade out to white effect in an applet on like an image or something of the such?

    This may work:
    After you draw your image, fill a rectangle overtop of you image with the alpha component of the color increasing.
    class SomeThread {
    int alpha = 0;
    public void run() {
         while (true) {
         if (alpha > 255) break;
         yourPanel.setAlpha(alpha);
         yourPanel.repaint();
         alpha = alpha + 5;
         try {
            Thead.sleep(200); // 255 / 5 = 51 * 200 ms is about 10 seconds
         } catch (InterruptedException ex) {}
    class YourPanel extends JPanel {
    public void paint(Graphics g) {
          super.paint(g);
          g.drawImage(...);
          g.setColor(new Color(255, 255, 255, alpha));

  • Help with image fade in/out

    I have not used Flash for almost 10 years and things have changed. I have 20 photographs that I would like to set up and have fade in and out, but can find no help on how this is done. So many options have been added to the Flash program that I am lost. I din't think it would be that big of a deal.Could I get some help on how this is done? All images are the same size and I just want to have the first appear for a few seconds and then fade out while the next fades in. Then have the second stay up for a few seconds and then fade out while the 3rd fades in... It really isn't that big of a deal, I'm just lost on getting started.
    Also, how can I create a background that will stay the same throughout the flash?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
    I wrote simple code showing and hiding MovieClips called "pic1", "pic2"...
    I used no classes, everything's on timeline frame, so it's as basic as it can be. I hope you know how to reference to children of MovieClips and such, coz probably you won't want to have everything on main timeline. So, what you need to have this code working is put each picture to its MovieClip and set them on the stage and set their instance names. Don't set their alpha or anything, code will do it.
    As I said, it's very basic. Usually it should be done dynamicly from library or even external files, but I think it could cause some trouble for you, and that's not what we want.
    Edit: "var timer:Timer = new Timer(3000);" - Here the 3000 number means 3sec from fade to fade, so when fade time is 1sec, a picture is fully visible for 2sec.
    Edit2: for 18 pictures it's gonna be 18 MovieClips in the library so it's a mess, so if you think you can handle more complex AS, just say.
    Pasting code:
    const FADE_TIME:Number = 1;
    const FRAME_RATE:int = 30;
    const PIC_NUM:int = 2;
    var _actPic:int = 1;
    var _alphaPerFrame:Number;
    var timer:Timer = new Timer(3000);
    timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, handle_timer);
    _alphaPerFrame = 1 / (FRAME_RATE * FADE_TIME);
    // hide all pictures
    for (var i:int = 1; i <= PIC_NUM; i ++)
        this["pic"+ i].visible = false;
    showPic(1);
    timer.start();
    function hidePic(num_:int):void
        this["pic"+ num_].addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, handle_showPicEnterFrame);
    function showPic(num_:int):void
        this["pic"+ num_].alpha = 0;
        this["pic"+ num_].visible = true;
        this["pic"+ num_].addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, handle_showPicEnterFrame);
    * handler of every frame to hide a picture
    function handle_hidePicEnterFrame(e:Event):void
        var a:Number = e.target.alpha - _alphaPerFrame;
        if (a < 0)
            a = 0;
        e.target.alpha = a;
        if (a == 0)
            e.target.visible = false;
            e.target.removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, handle_hidePicEnterFrame);
    * handler of every frame to show a picture
    function handle_showPicEnterFrame(e:Event):void
        var a:Number = e.target.alpha + _alphaPerFrame;
        if (a > 1)
            a = 1;
        e.target.alpha = a;
        if (a == 1)
            e.target.removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, handle_showPicEnterFrame);
    * handler of every timer tick
    function handle_timer(e:TimerEvent):void
        setChildIndex(this["pic"+ _actPic], 0);
        hidePic(_actPic);
        _actPic ++;
        if (_actPic > PIC_NUM)
            _actPic = 1;
        showPic(_actPic);

  • Drag & Drop - drag image fade effect

    I'm attaching drag image using InitializeFromBitmap in IDragSourceHelper and I noticed attached image get some kind of fade-out effect if width exceeds 300px, which itself isn't that bad, considering normal DPI settings. But this 300px isn't scaled with
    system DPI, so any drag image that I want to be opaque needs to be tiny.
    Is there any way to avoid applying this fade effect, or to make it respect DPI setting?

    Hi pault36225916,
    As per my understanding, you are using Acrobat X and want to add images directly into the PD document (correct me if I am wrong, please).
    If so, then you can follow the steps given below:
    1. Go to Tools > Content > Edit Object Tool
    2. Right-click the page and choose Place Image
    3. Choose any of these image formats: bmp, jpeg, gif, pcx, png, jpeg2000 or tiff
    4. Select an image file and click open.
    A copy of an image file appears on the PDF page with the same resolution as the original one.
    Hope the above information helps you.
    Let me know if you need further assistance.
    Regards,
    Anubha
