Adding subreport in drillthrough report

How can I add a sub report in a drill through report.

Any report that is stored on the report server can be a drill-through report. Usually, you can use "Subreport" control to add a sub-report in the report. In the main report, user can edit the action property of the textbox or image to add a drill-through report.

Problem with passing 2 or 3 members from filter to drillthrough report (SSRS report) in PPS

I have one dashboard and one filter in PPS. Dashboard contains one main analytical chart report-- sales by Product category and the filter name is Year (contains the members values from 2005 to 2014).
I have one more drillthrough report--- Detailed report for sales by product category (SSRS report)
SSRS report having two parameters 1. year (Multi selection) 2. Product category (single selection)
Now, I have select 2006,2008 in the pps filter and analytical chart report rendered based on the filter values.
next, on the analytical chart, I have selected on bar item (cars) out of 4 categories(Cars,Bikes,Trucks,Accessoreis) and right click -->drillthrough-->click on Detailed report for sales by product category.
I have verified the ssrs detailed report and pps is passing only ALL member instead of passing 2006 and 2008 to the Year filter and Cars category members correctly passed to product category parameter from PPS.
Note: If I have passed one member values (year=2006), pps is able to pass to ssrs report. But, it failed in two or more member values from filter.
I have verified in sql profiler also. PPS passing ALL member to SSRS detailed report Year parameter.
Please provide your suggestions.

My First Report, Summary level is a Pivot Table.
I tried the same report with Table option, the value is passing correctly.
Is there a way to get rid of this situation using Pivot table.

I am Hemanth, I have developed 2 reports. Firast Report High Level Summary, Secong is detailed. First report is developed using Union(4 union) , I am having 4 columns. The report is generating the data. I have used Navigation option on Client Column to move on to Second report. In Second report with in Filter i am using Prompted option. Due to some problem, the client value from first report is not passing to the second one. The second report is getting generated for all the clients.
Normally i have used this Navigate option in other reports and that works fine. I have even tested with Union, it works. This time it is giving some trouble.
Please, let me know whats going wrong.

Am using more than 100 subreports in my main report using ssrs 2008 R2.
And given conditional Visibility in sub reports based on the Parameter selection in main Report . But the performance is very very slow in main report.
While selecting single sub report executes in seconds. The same report in main report executes in hours.
According to my view,
All the Sub reports executes and finally conditional visibility is working. Can we Control executing sub reports?

I think the time to render 100 report sure will be long time and the main report want to render those reports.
So first why you do not separate those report on many reports for different purpose.
second if this is a dashboard report you may use many matrix in the same report and the parameters passed by default or based on expression.
I really hope if you make your report as dashboard report, many matrix many parameters render it once. As I remember I think SSRS will try to execute your
DataSets in parallel which will reduce your waiting time.

How to Create a Linked Subreport in Crystal Report for Enterprise

Hi All
I am developing a monthly report grouped by cost centre, I want to create a second table for each cost centre showing year to date, underneath the monthly data for that cost centre. My thoughts on how to achieve this is to create a linked subreport in the group footer of the cost centre grouping. However every time I try to set this up the report crashes. Am I doing something wrong, can this be done in crystal reports for enterprise? Can anyone give me a pointer on how to set up a linked subreport so that it passes the particular cost centre the report is grouped upon into the subreport so it only shows data relevant to that cost centre?
Any help will be appreciated as I am going in circles at the moment.

You are doing right. You can create linked subreport in crystal report for enterprise. Please refer below link to see the elearning tutorial in which a simiar scenario is explained step by step. Here its an unlinked subreport. Enable subreport filter to make it linked and try. It should work.

I am using CR4E to create web application, I've added RAS jars (rasapp.jar, rascore.jar, reporttemplate.jar, serialization.jar) to this web application. For designing reports i am using Crystal Reports 2008.

Passing values from subreport to main report

Dear All,
I have used shared values in my sub report and i want to use that shared variable in my main report in one of the formulas for average calculation but i see the values as 0.
Can someone let me know what I am missing.

The most important thing to remember when using shared variables is that Crystal Reports must first evaluate the formula where the value is stored before evaluating the formula that retrieves the shared variable.
For example if you want to pass a grand total from the subreport to do a calculation in the main report, follow these steps:
1. In the subreport, create a formula similar to the one below:
//@SubFormula
//Stores the grand total of the
//{Orders.Order Amount} field
//in a currency variable called 'myTotal'
WhilePrintingRecords;
Shared CurrencyVar myTotal := Sum ({Orders.Order Amount})
2. Place this formula in your subreport.
3. In the main report, create a formula that declares the same variable name:
//@MainFormula
//Returns the value that was stored
//in the shared currency variable called
//myTotal in the subreport
WhilePrintingRecords;
Shared CurrencyVar myTotal;
myTotal
4. Place @MainFormula in a main report section that is beneath the section containing the subreport.
NOTE:
For the shared variable to return the correct value in the main report, you must place @MainFormula in a main report section that is beneath the section containing the subreport. This ensures Crystal Reports evaluates the @SubFormula before @MainFormula.
One way to do this is to insert a section below the section containing the subreport, and place @MainFormula in this new sub-section:
· On the 'Format' menu, click 'Section'.
· On the 'Sections' list, click the section containing the subreport.
· Click 'Insert' (at top of dialog box). This inserts an additional subsection.
· Click 'OK' to return to the report, and insert @MainFormula into this new sub-section.
The next time you preview the report, @MainFormula displays the value from the subreport. In this particular example, that value was the grand total of the {Orders.Order Amount} field.
5. Once you have verified that @MainFormula is returning the correct value from the subreport, you can include this formula in other main report formulas, such as:
//@NewFormula
//includes data from subreport
{@MainFormula} + Sum ({Customer.Last Year's Sales})
· Place this formula in the same section as @MainFormula, or in a section further down on the report.
You have now successfully shared data from a subreport with the main report.
NOTE:
This is not possible with On Demand Subreports in Crystal Reports since the report will not be processed until after clicking report.

SSRS Drillthrough Reports functionality not working in exported Excel format

Hi All,
Recently I have made a drillthrough report in SSRS 2008R2,Its working fine only in MSBI run mode and preview mode of report designer.Going from main report to sub report and any other report through drillthrough report its work fine.
When I export these report to excel
drillthrough is not working,Only showing main report in excel there is no link showing in excel report as showing in preview mode of report
Please help me out for the same.

Based on my research, just as AntoonVansina said, drillthrogh links still be supported in SSRS 2008R2 when exporting the report in excel. Drillthrough links that appear in text boxes are rendered as Excel hyperlinks in the cell in which the text is rendered.
When clicked, the drillthrough link opens the client’s default browser and navigates to the HTML view of the target.
However, Drillthrough links are not supported in PDF rendering. The drillthrough links are not rendered as clickable links and drillthrough reports cannot connect to the target of the drillthrough.
So could you please post more details about how did you create the drillthough links, are you use Go To Report or Go To URL? What’s the expression for Go To URL and did you get some error message when you click the URL in Excel?

Drillthrough report access

Hi There,
I use Essbase studio 11.1.1.3 developing the drillthough report and I am able to drill through in Excel Add-in without any issue. However User cannot drill through from their excel addin, it got "report is not defined in the intersection" which I know it is not true since I use the same test spreadsheet.
User has read right for underline Database (SQL Server). Do I have grant any other right in Essbase share services for drillthrough report?

Drillthrough report error for AssignedTo parameter

Hello,
I have created PieChart which is generating drillthrough report based on parameter from selected value on PieChart. I am passing two parameters,
Microsoft_VSTS_Common_Severity and System_AssignedTo. I have given "All" as default to both parameters.
Drilldown report works fine with selected value for "Microsoft_VSTS_Common_Severity" and default (All) for
System_AssignedTo but gives an error if I pass any selected value for "System_AssignedTo" parameter.
The error says: "An error occurred during local report processing. Query execution failed for dataset 'datasetName'. Parser: The syntax for 'LastName' is incorrect."
It seems that parameter expects ID as well, something like this: "[Work Item].[System_AssignedTo].&[S-1-5-21-284166382-85745802-1543857936-25120]". How to get this ID for selected user from PieChart?

I have checked your report files, and I found that the @WorkItemSystemAssignedTo
parameter in the RiskDrillThroughTable.rdl is set with a default value which is from
dsSid dataset. And the dsSid dataset is defined with the following query:
SELECT SID
FROM DimPerson
WHERE (Name = @EmployeeName)
So in your report you see that value of the @WorkItemSystemAssignedTo
parameter is SID.
If you don't want to show SID in the @WorkItemSystemAssignedTo
parameter, you need to change the default value of it. (change the query of the
dsSid dataset)
And for your question: How to get this ID for selected user from PieChart? With current settings in your report, I can use the drillthrough report correctly, the
@WorkItemSystemAssignedTo is automatically filled selected user's SID. So I think you should already achieved your requirement.

Linked Button error in a subReport with Crystal Reports

Hi expert,
I have a designed a subreport with Crystal Report, and I have add the Sap Linked button (OLE Object), to allow the user to click on the linked button and open the relativa Sap Document (Invoice, Delivery, etc etc).
In the hypetetx linked property, I have write the link
'http://$b1$/link=OINV&key=1'
In this way all is ok, but In my query I have the name of the table and the DocEntry, so I try this way:
'http://$b1$/link='&{Comando.Table}&'&key='&{Comando.DocEntry}
If I try to open the document, I retrieve the error: You are not permitted to perform this action. Authorisation Path: Help.
I don't understand if the problem is the authorization (i am manager, superuser) or if I had write in a wrong mode the hypertext link. (maybe the Apex?)

Disable clicking on subreport in Crystal Reports Viewer

To describe the situation, the report has 2 subreprts in the Report Header. When users click on any of those subreports in the Reports Viewer, the report closes and is back to the Parameter selection window.
Does anyone know how to prevent this? Is it possible to disable clicking on the subreport in the Viewer? Or lock the whole content? Disable clicks on the Viewer?
