Adding to the path in bash, permanently

I am having trouble getting a path to a mysql directory to remain in the bash shell. I've tried using the path statement, but it doesn't add to the path. An alias works but it obviuously is only good for that session.
May other question is where to put the command. I have seen .bashrc and .bshrc listed in documents. What is the correct one ?
I need the following added to my path:
usr/local/mysql/bin
I'm using 10.3 Server as the OS.

   I guess that it depends on what you have in the script. Certainly the syntaxes of the two shells are different so I would think the choice would depend on whether or not you are using shell specific code. Personally, I don't want to have to worry about that so I don't use a ~/.profile.

   I wish to elaborate on something that is implicit in Jeffrey's post. You mentioned that your files were "listed in documents". Does that refer to your Documents directory at the root of your home directory? If so, that's why the script isn't sourced. In a shell, the tilde character, '~', is shorthand for your home directory. Thus, ~/.bashrc means that the .bashrc is located at the top level of you home directory, which is the only place the shell will look for it. You should have more success if you move the file there.

I recently left Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
Previously, in the side bar of Mail, (the one you make visible using "Show" in a previous post here), I was able to drag and drop any of the Reception mailboxes to the place I wanted to select, to put them in the order I wished, and this order remained until I decide to change it.
This seems not possible any more, or... just for the current session. If I close Mail and reopen, Reception boxes are re-ordered in alphabetic way.
Any way to make my choice permanent as before ???
To make it more clear, ordering my way is possible by drag and dropping for private mailboxes, but not for reception mailboxes associated to different mail accounts, the order is lost once Mail is closed.

I am facing some error while activating the activity. I have checked-in the activity but getting the error while trying to activated the activity. there are two DC's in one of them i am gettign this error. i have not noticed this while check-in.
After checked in - i am not getting the any such option --Revert activitty or delete activity.
This activity is alreday closed.. what i can do with this activity?? After this error i am not able to activate any activity. I am getting the below error in all the activity.

javac ERROR: class file has wrong version 49.0, should be 48.0
This error means that the class file in question is being built with JDK1.5 (49), however it should be built with JDK1.4.2 (48).
In other words, as per the class the build expects a class file built with 1.4.2, but in your track JDK1.5 is configured for the build tool.
You need to therefore :
A.) review the CBS service settings, as most likely the parameters BUILDT_TOOL_JDK_HOME and JDK_HOME_PATHS are set up improperly.
B.) plus the build variant is incorrect in the track in question.
I'll refer below to the corresponding points with the letters A and B.
Some more explanation on the error:
If you check any class file with a hex editor, you'll see at the beginning of it this:
example: CA FE BA BE | 00 00 |00 31 ...
JDK 1.6 = 50 (0x32 hex)
JDK 1.5 = 49 (0x31 hex = (161)*3 + (160)*1 = 49)
JDK 1.4 = 48 (0x30 hex)
JDK 1.3 = 47 (0x2F hex)
JDK 1.2 = 46 (0x2E hex)
JDK 1.1 = 45 (0x2D hex)
On the first 4 bytes there's a magic number (CAFEBABE) which ensures this is a java class file, then on 2-2 bytes you'll see the minor and the major version (in this order). In the above example 00 00 | 00 31. This is what displayed as major.minor i.e. 49.0 what you can see in error messages. See also the attachment I've put to this thread minormajor.JPG.

Some simple rules with examples:
- for BUILD_TOOL_JDK_HOME you simply enter the path to your JDK, e.g.: /opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142

- for BUILD_TOOL_JDK_HOME you always specify the highest JDK,

B) set the com.sap.jdk.home_path_key in the build variant to 1.4.2_HOME, or leave it for the default. Do not forget to set this build variant explicitly for >= 7.1 tracks to JDK1.5.0_HOME

Setting the path in Windows98

I'd like to run my java application on a computer with Windows 98, and not in the java bin directory. I'm familiar with setting the path variables in Windows XP. You go to control panel -> System -> Advanced -> Environment Variable -> and set them as you like. In Windows 98 there seems to be no such method. Instead I'm hacking away at the autoexec.bat file, but I still can't seem to get it to work. Currently, this is what my autoexec.bat file looks like:

I put the path to both the JRE and JDK in both the PATH and CLASSPATH variables just to be sure. From a DOS prompt, the "java" command seems to work from anywhere, but the "javac" command still only works in the bin directory. Can any think of where I'm going wrong?

"the path does not exist" error opening shared adobe files on XP machine

We recently upgraded a mac mini from Tiger (10.4.11) to Leopard (10.5.X) we updated to the most recent 10.5.
We have an office with 3 macs and 1 XP.
All users connect to the Mac Mini via SMB sharing.
Everyone Authenticates as the same admin user.
*The XP machine can open and save all file types EXCEPT Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator files.*
They are using CS3.
The mac and XP users could open save and share all files prior to the leopard update.
We used the "Archive and Install" option to upgrade to leopard.
The shared files had the "unknown Group" error which we solved by adding them to the ADMIN group. This step changed the error message the the XP user was receiving.
I have tried many networking fixes, including group policy on windows, turning off IPv6 on the Mini, but we cannot open or save files directly from Illustrator.
When the file
We can move files to the XP desktop then open and save. Files saved on the XP machine can be moved back to the mini and opened directly by all of the Mac users.
Any guesses why this might be occurring?

There are actually two separate error messages received by the windows user when trying to open files off of the Mini.
"the path does not exist" and "this file cannot be found".
This happens when we navigate directly to the file with windows explorer.

How can I valid the path in different devices

I wrote a program using the PDA module months ago, I was now told to modify to make it robust in the sense that, the program with ‘run’ in any PDA.
There are several directories that are common with PDA’s, such as Storage, Storage Card, SD Card, MMC-SD Card e.t.c.
I previous used a Build Path to create the path I wanted that looked like this:
"Storage Card/S345220107.txt" where S345 is the user id and 220107 is the date from a time stamp VI.
What I want to do is to find a way of knowing what directory a PDA has somehow.
An algorithm of it will look some thing like this:

I created the VI you sent, and for the first version, when there is a Match, it does not place the found folder name in the Start Path or the Current Path Indicators. So the path created is not correct
I then tried a second version called PathSearch1Vi and added a few things for it to do what I wanted. Please run both and see if the second version is OK or what should be added to the first version.

Outlook - The path specified for the file SharePoint Lists PST is not valid

Some users are connecting via Citrix XenApp to Microsoft Server 2008 R2 and using Microsoft Office 2010 (14.0.7109.5000) SP2 MSO (14.0.7116.5000) - Microsoft Office Profressional Plus 2010 x86 version for their email. Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
SP2 for email.
They are connected to Microsoft SharePoint 2010 SP2 August 2013 CU, via a SharePoint Calender; they have View permissions to the SharePoint calendar using Classic Mode permissions (Not Claims). No permissions have / are changing on this SharePoint
Calendar. They connect to the SharePoint Calender to Outlook.
When they open up their Office Outlook client, they receive an error "Outlook Data File" "The path specified for the file \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\SharePoint Lists.pst is not valid." OK
They select OK and they get a window popping up with the option to try to find the SharePoint list. "Create/Open Outlook Data File" (File name: 'SharePoint Lists') Open Cancel. They select Cancel.
They are returned to their Outlook client "email."
As an I.T. administrator and SharePoint Administrator, I had a remote session with them, using Bomgar software and I Go to File Menu, Account Settings, SharePoint Lists Tab but there is no list there so go to the Data Files tab and see SharePoint Lists listed.
Selecting it once, and clicking on Settings... button gives error message similar to the one above about PST not valid.
STRANGE in that, when you do that! You can go to Home tab, Calendar (Ctrl+2), and see Other Calendars and now the SharePoint calendar that was supposed to be there before, but was just "empty!" There was only the Other Calendars
option but it didn't have any "sub" calendar item.
A similar issue is when Other Calendars is listed, and has a sub calendar listed, a SharePoint connected calendar. You click on it and get "Microsoft Outlook" "The set of folders cannot be opened. The path specified for the file c:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\SharePoint
Lists.pst is not valid." OK
Click OK and go through the above steps to get the same result. After going into Account Settings, Data Files, checking on the Settings... button, and receiving the error message, again mentioned above, and the prompt to Create/Open Outlook Data File,
thgen I can go back into Account Settings, Data Files, and double click on the SharePoint Lists and instead of an error, the Outlook Data File comes up, with Change Password... Compact Now, Comment, Name, Filename, Format (Outlook Data File) OK Cancel.
Can go back to the Calendar (Ctrl+2) and Other Calendars, and the SharePoint Calendar "Sub calendar" will appear and operate as normal! All was done was go into the Account settings and "check" on the "error."
Tried to delete the SharePoint Lists and close out and add it and then go back in, and it "worked" for a few days. I later turned on Logging and for over 24 hours it was on for the user. The user was not on forever.
In the Outlook Logging folder, from the users profile, I found many *.log files, firstrun, OPMLog, ETL files, one of which is 6MB, and some prof_001_outlook....txt files. I clickedo n the SharePoint Lists.pst.log file 1KB

They are using a CRM client 2011 (Server is CRM 2011 - on premise) as well as having other connected email accounts - managed accounts, like Accounting or HR, etc.
What can I look for / provide for you all to assist? I am almost ready to open a ticket with Microsoft to resolve this as it has been happening for multiple users for multiple weeks.
When "I" go in, logged on as myself, I do NOT have this problem, however my account is not "old" in that I just logged onto the account domain\matthew.carter, where these users use their accounts day in and day out for weeks / months
/ (some years).

Unfortunately, what was marked as an "answer" by the moderators isn't really an answer at all to the problem. We are experiencing pretty much an identical issue with a calendar people are adding to Outlook 2010 from SharePoint 2010 within a XenApp
server (using roaming profiles). However, we have not had the issue occur outside of XenApp yet.

Vs2010 azure project remove instead of unload now cannot find a part of the path build error

I know this isn't a vs online question but I wasn't sure where else to post this one...
I have an azure project built in vs2010 with a web role and worker role project. I accidently removed the worker role project then re added through 'add existing project'. Now when I try and build I get

Line 987 is the start of the element.
Looking at the path, the folder WorkerRole1 doesn't exist but looking at back ups of this project it doesn't exist in them either.
I've tried adding the WorkerRole1 folder but then I get Error 102 CloudServices38 : The entrypoint dll is not defined for worker role WorkerRole1.    C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\Windows Azure Tools\1.8\Microsoft.WindowsAzure.targets

I'm not sure going down the path of adding this folder anyway is the correct solution (I could be wrong of course).

I don't know why this worked but I made a copy of the solution. When I opened the solution it had lost a reference to one dll (Windows Storage I think). I added that, then it builds ok now.

OPC: what is the path to follow in LabVIEW 8.20?

I started with OPC in Labview 6. The only two functions that I need is "read multiple tags" and "write tag". The tags are either located on the same PC or on a different one. I use Labview as an OPC client. The number of tags that i need to acquire is in the range of 2000-5000, once per minute. In Labview 6 and 7, all experts in the discussion forum and at NI said that above 100 tags, it was impossible to use Datasocket (performance issue when too many tags) and that the preferred path had to be DSC. So I started using DSC. Now that I migrated towards LabVIEW 8.20 the people at NI say that the best option is to use.... Datasockets! The read/write tags vi having disappeared the suggest me to make my own "read multiple tags.vi" and "write tag.vi" by encapsulating a "DS read/ write" in a for loop. As an entry to the loop, I would just wire the ref number that the connection ids that the Datasocket Open.vi supplies.
So my first question: why is this old Datasocket mechanism again the path to follow in Labview 8.20?
By curiosity I checked in Labview 8.20 what was embodied in the "read multiple tags.vi" that were shipped in the Labview DSC 7.1. And found that the very last layer of the Vi used... Datasocket read in a for loop.
So my second question: why was the Datasocket mechanism so poor in Labview 6 and 7 (for more than 100 tags) and now is the preferred way to go?
I cannot use the shared variable mechanism in my case because the entry of my application is a list of tags (2000-5000) to read and I just want an automated way to read these tags values in one take.
As I need to install the compiled application on dozens of PC I would prefer not to be forced to buy the DSC licenses on each runtime machine hence Datasocket that does not require the DSC license might be a good choice?

I am currently learning Java, and am working with the Beginning Programming with Java for Dummies book second edition. I have downloaded and am running the Java 6 program and am using the JCreator 3.5Pro that was recommended to run the Practice files for the Dummies book.

When I set up the new file, and the new class, I confirmed the file path.
I know most people will ask if I am absolutely certain I put in the code in properly, and yes I did. It was a matter of copying word for word, and punctuation. I did it 100% correctly. About 12 times. I have NO idea what this means, but I would REALLY REALLY appreciate any help on this.
Please keep in mind, I am slightly clueless, and really need to have any help dumbed down a bit. Lol.
As a side note, this isn't my first project, and I haven't had this problem before now.

So I wanted to clarify what I've done a bit more since I decided to redownload the dummies programs for the program and try again.
I will try to list my steps in order of what I did and see if I've gone wrong somewhere along the line.
I downloaded my project files from here: http://ca.dummies.com/store/product/Beginning-Programming-with-Java-For-Dummies-2nd-Edition.productCd-0764588745,navId-322469,descCd-DOWNLOAD.html
I unzipped them this time here: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\MyProjects\
I opened JCreator 3.5 and starting fresh, with all previous projects deleted and clicked on "Open Workspace". I chose "MyWorkspace.jcw". Right clicked MyWorkspace and chose "Add new Project" and then chose "Empty Project". As per the books instruction for the first project, I named it "MyFirstProject". My file path was: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\MyProjects\MyFirstProject. Which is where I upzipped the files. I added it to current workspace and clicked finish.
I then added a new class. As per the books instructions, I right clicked "MyFirstProject" and selected Add New Class. For the name, I used MyFirstJavaClass, which is what the book told me to do. My locations are the exact same as above. and I clicked on Generate new Method, as it told me to. Which it doesn't in the next few lessons, so I know this has nothing to do with it. For that and a few other reasons. Lol.
I clicked on Finish.
All I had to do was replace a single line of code. Not type it all in this time.
Here is what shows up on the screen:

I need to change the : // TODO: Add your code here
with the line:
System.out.println.("Chocolate, royalties, sleep");
When I do this, and compile project, I get this:

javac: file not found: src_myfirstproject.txt (The system cannot find the path specified)
Process completed.
AGAIN! But it worked a few days ago.
And when I execute, I get this:
